Open after migration

I just got a mac pro and did migration from old ibook. how do i open up my files once transfer complete?

You haven't provided enough info. How did you migrate from the old Mac & what options did you use if it was by using Migration Assistant?
What happens after the transfer completes?

Is there any solution about this issue?

Select it and open the Info dialog. In the Sharing & Permissions section, you should have read & write access, and everyone (else) should have read access. If that's not the case, click the lock icon, authenticate, and make the necessary changes. Close the window and try again.

  • IPhoto doesn't open after migration/upgrade

I see several discussions similar to mine, but not exactly.
    I just migrated from a MacBookPro 10.6.8 to a Pro 10.8.2.
My iPhoto was iPhoto 8, vers 7.1.5.
After migration and upgrade my iPhoto is vers 9.4.1.
When I try to open iPhoto I get the message that the library files must be upgraded.
I downloaded and installed iPhotoLibraryUpgrade. When I try to run the program, it says:
You library can open with the current version of iPhoto and does not need to be prepared with this tool.
I have tried opening iphoto with the cmd-opt key, but nothing here will run.
Get the same message: the files must be upgraded.
I downloaded the libraryManager and tried to open the library "package" but an unable to.
    It's "untouchable".
Please, any suggestions would be great as I sit here with no access to my iPhotos.

With iPhoto Library Manager you need to run the Rebuild command not open the package.

I have tried reinstalling. Next I reinstalled xCode. Then I reinstalled iLife from a DVD. I reinstalled the developer tools. Nothing has helped yet.
The problem is that the variable _OBJC_CLASS_$_NSObject is missing from the /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib file.

    Hi,
I notice that the version of current Outlook client is 14.0.6112.5000, Outlook 2010 needs to be on at least SP1 and have November 2012 update (14.0.6126.5000) at the minimum installed to be able to connect to Exchange 2013, so make sure your clients is patched.

  • Safari won't open after migrating

I just got a new MacBook Pro Retina and used the migration assistant to move all of my documents, applications and settings from my previous MacBook Pro.  However, when I try to open Safari, I just get a message saying "Safari quit unexpectedly" with the option to Ignore, Report..., or Reopen.  When I click Reopen or try to start it separately, I get the same message.
It seems like my other applications are all working fine. I'm not sure if it was because of something that happened during the migration or if this was just how things were when the new MacBook arrived.
    Please help!

Just found this link to download and re-install Safari 6 on another discussion thread.  After the re-install, it now seems to be working fine.  Not sure why or how it got messed up in the first place, but figured I'd leave this out here in case anyone else has the same problem:

  • Hyperion Financial reports-taking long time to open after migrating to 9

    Hi,
Financial reports version 7 are migrated to system 9.
Problem that we are facing now is that reports take ling time to open.
Can anyone suggest how to improve the performance .
before migration to system 9 financial reports was working fine but now it is taking a long time to open

Are they taking a long time to open in the studio or in the workspace?
There could be lots of reasons:
Have there been server changes with the migration?
Have there been any changes in dynamically calculated dimensions?

  • CreativeCloud application won't open after migrating to new Mac (also running Mavericks)

I had CreativeCloud installed and working on my Mac running OS X Mavericks. Then I migrated to a new Mac, also running OS X Mavericks. My CreativeCloud 2014 applications all work properly. My problem is with the CreativeCloud application itself -- the little cloud icon that appear in my Mac's menu bar. When I double click the CreativeCloud application icon on my Dock,  I see the Cloud icon briefly appear in the menu bar and then it disappears after a second or two. I went to the Utilities folder and I used the uninstaller to remove the CreativeCloud application from my Mac. I then downloaded the application installer and reinstalled it on my Mac. The exact same problem persists. This problem occurs in two different OS X user accounts on my Mac. How can I fix this problem?

Thannon88 please try utilizing the steps listed in Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html to reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application.
If you continue to face difficulties then I would recommend starting the migration process over again.  This time please only transfer your documents and settings.  This will allow you a clean system to reinstall your applications.

  • Applications Will Not Open after Migration

Purchased new MacBook Pro (10.7.8) last night and used Migration Assistant to transfer applications and documents to new mahine from "old" MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. and things did not go as smoothly as anticipated:
Applications such as Illustrator, InDesign and Word from old MBP will not open on new Machine
Old User Profile came over but the doc displays question marks where Documents and Downloads should be
Old Profile on New MBP does not allow me to change Finder preferneces to display the Hard Drive on the desktop
What have I done wrong and what can I do to correct these issues?
    Any suggestions?

SO - it is possible to move my Creative Suite and other apps over and actually be able to use them or must I do a fresh install?
That depends on the age of those Apps. If they are older, like Word/Office 2004, they will not run on Lion.
There are many version of Adobe Creative Suite. Some run on Lion, newer version back to I think CS3 (but don't quote me on that), and some don't.
Again personally I always do clean fresh installs on new computers. Whether Mac or PC. I have never cared for using anything that copies over old stuff from previous OSs to new computers. I find it makes the new computer like the old computer, IE OLD.
But others use it and find it OK.
The true definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.
So give it a shot. If you find yourself back where you started when you made the first post then you can always start over.

  • Office v.X Applications - Cannot open after migration to new MBP

Used target disk mode to move all files from G4 Titanium PowerBook running OS 10.4.7 and cannot open any Office v.X applications.
    MBP 15-inch   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 GB RAM

Well, I had no choice. I lost the video on the Ti G4 and bought the MBP. I could only operate the Ti G4 in the target disk mode to get the files from itt. I was concerned that I had lost everything to the old laptop. I did not knowingly use Migration Assistant. When I first booted up the MBP, it asked if I wanted to move the files from the old laptop, and I said "yes". I guess that was a form of Migration Assistand, but the MBP was new to me and it sounded OK to do.
Also, I have a separate copy of MS Entourage that is not part of Office. It works fine with the MBP.
I thought Office v.x or 2004 would run on Intel-based Macs, but not as fast.

  • Mail not opening after migration to new macbook pro

    Hello all,
I recently transferred all of my files using migration assistant from a powerbook G4 to a Macbook Pro and now mail will not open. It will show up in the bar underneath the screen but it won't display anything and it won't quit. Anyone have any solutions?

Without having to mess with plists, or messing with other arcane buried folders, this solution for me in migrating from a G4 to a Mini.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8843200&#8843200
Simple. Move the ~/Library/Mail folder out and back in. Read the thread for the specific order. It's easy and save me tons of heartache.

  • InDesign CS6 won't open after migration to a new iMac.  Adobe App Mgr calls it a "Trial" version?

I just migrated my entire contents from one Mac to  new iMac.  I was able to open and use InDesign for the first day or so, but now when I do, The Adobe Application Manager tells me the version I have is a "Trial" version.  I am not likely to be transferring to CC version, so within that limitation (Staying with CS6) how do I correct this issue, so I can use the software I paid for?

  • IPhoto Won't Open after Migration

Migrated hard drive content from a 15" MacBook Pro running Mavericks to a 17" MacBook Pro.  iPhoto app did not appear in 17" hard drive.  Downloaded latest iPhoto version from Apple web site.  Now iPhoto won't open.  Tried various suggestions from forums (Command-Option opening) and rebuilt files several times using the four methods shown on the window.  No luck.  Spinning wheel goes on and on and finally gives me an "iPhoto Quit unexpectedly."  Can anyone give this neophyte a helping hand to show me how to recover my nearly 11,000 photos that seem to be running just fine on my 21" iMac with Mavericks?
    Would appreciate any assistance.

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Installed Apps (including Facebook) don't open after migrating to OS 3.0

All the apps i've personally installed (including Facebook) will not open/run post conversion to OS 3.0. do I need to reinstall them?

If some or most of your 3rd party apps crash when launching them after upgrading to 3.0, I have a fix that cured my problem. Another symptom is that you can delete the App, then reinstall and it works until syncing with iTunes.
Well my cure was to download any app, even a free one via iTunes, then sync with the iPhone. All was cured. I usually just download Apps straight from the iPhone, but the iTunes route worked.
