Open an app at a specific time...?

Hi, I'm just curious if anyone might have any suggestions for me.
I basically need a way to have an application to open at a certain time of the day, and then close at a certain time of the day, all automatically.
Not sure if there's an app to do this, or a script, or whatnot, but any ideas would be great!

As they say in Perl programming "There's More Than One Way To Do It" (cron, launchd, etc.). One easy way is with iCal. Set an alarm to Open File (i.e., the application) at the specified time. Quit the same way using an AppleScript:
tell application "My App" to quit

hello, i use last.fm and i'd like the plugin to open at the same time as itunes, a couple years ago someone posted the applescript that opened it when i clicked the itunes icon, could anyone help me do that again please?
automator does it but then i have to have the automator AND itunes icons in the dock...

thanks for that but that does the same thing, i think before i may have used an app called "hotalias" i cant seem to find it now, what i want is the script which i can add an itunes icon too in my dock and when i click it itunes opens and tells the lastfm plugin to open too, but no extra itunes icon appears in the dock.it worked perfectly before, but my hard disk died and took all my data with it recently

had multiple windows/multiple tabs open. macbook pro put to sleep while traveling. upon checking into the hotel the 'free' internet needed necessary regsitration on each/every tab/page.... 'logging in' to hotel's wifi I couldn't restore the previous session:all the windows/tabs reverted to the hotel's registration page.

Automatically open and quit app at specific times

I want to open the DVD Player app at a specific time in the morning and have it play a DVD all day (it's looped). I then want the app to quit at a specific time at night. The computer will go to sleep from when the app quits until right before it opens (I have that part figured out).
Can someone show me how to open and quit the app at specific times or point me somewhere where I can learn how to do this? I'm an AppleScript newbie, so explanations are grateful. I will be using a Mac Mini for this installation.

I have set iCal up to open it no problem...however, the application needs you to click yes before entering into it upon boot.
How do I do this and close the app. I tried creating a workflow in automator, but iCal simply opens the workflow and does not play it. This also does not solve the issue of needing the 'yes' button to be clicked.

Since the last version of numbers in IOS 7 my documents have to be download from iCloud every time I open the app

Hello everybody. Since I update my iPad mini to IOS 7 and update numbers and pages, I can´t view my documents offline because they have to be downloaded every time I closed and open the app. I have restore the IOS from scratch, not using any backup, and the problems is still there.
Any advice?

Try working through TS1717: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues to start with.
Otherwise, for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

hello good peolpe, i bought an ipad mini retina for books reading and i would like to know if there is a way i can open a book with different apps like i do on android device where you can use various apps to open differents books at the same time, i would like to also know if there is a way to do the same thing but with power point and word files, and how can i open them on my ipad and transfer them, thanks every one for their time

Currently you can't. Maybe in iOS 8 that will be released soon.

It takes a long time to open an app and sometimes it will just crash, any idea how to fix it?

My four year old Macbook Pro couldn't start yesterday and after going through solutions and all, it worked. But now it's freaking laggy and whenever I want to open an app, it takes a long time or the app will just crash. Any idea how to fix it? I really need the speed and everything back.

so you have an external hard disk, onto which you deleted/moved files from your internal hard disk, so that you now have 143 GB or so free on your internal hard disk — is that correct? Is the external disk purely for backups (e.g. a Time Machine destination), or does it function as a supplement to your internal disk?
Was it entirely your personal data files (documents, photos, movies, music, &c.) which you’d deleted or moved to the external disk, or did you also delete/move apps, libraries, &c. over there?
I’m not familiar with Echofon Lite, so I can’t comment on it, but an Apple-supplied app like the App Store shouldn’t crash.
Have you tried running Disk Utility yet, to see if its verification process gives your disks its seal of approval?

OK. You've kind of skipped over the reason why you want to go back five hours, but my assumption would be that you've made changes to a Pages file that you want to revert.
There are two ways to tackle this. From Pages itself, open the current version of your document, and from the File menu, click Revert To, and Browse All Versions. You'll then be in the Time Machine interface for that file, and can browse back to the version you want.
Or, outside of Pages, you can select the file (or the folder it was originally in, if you've since deleted it) and enter Time Machine from the TM menu (it sounds like you've already tried this?)

I can not stand it anymore, someone suggests something?
Besides these problems, there is the battery, which was bad got worse, she is not lasting more than 10 hours, even without using the phone.
Sometimes it even seems that the problem was solved, but my joy did not last long after I celebrate all the problems return, is incredible ...

Takes a long time to connect to the internet when I first open an app

I bought my Macbook Pro Retina 13inch last weekend and I love it! Everything was working fine but over the last couple of days, when I first open an app, for example Safari, Google Chrome, iTunes, App Store, anything that requires an internet connection, it takes a long time to load up that first time, but after the first page has been loaded it works again fine until closing the app and re-opening it. When loading the App Store or iTunes it has even said an internet connection is required, even though my connection is fine and the other apps are still loading ok.
I first thought it was my WIFI connection but I have checked my router and everything seems fine, also my iPad and iPhone are still working fine with the internet.
Has anyone else had the same problem or can offer me a solution?

I am getting the same issue, on first starting safari the first page takes an age to load.. once it has everything is fine.
I have tried the 'Reset Safari' function but no difference. This only happens on my Macbook Pro Retina, Using safari on my iphone or ipad is fine. (I connect via ethernet too so its not a wifi problem.)

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
Have you tried closing all apps via the iPad's multitasking bar and then doing a soft-reset and seeing that helps ? To close all apps :
iOS 7: double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag each app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
iOS 6 and below : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPhone by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPhone. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.
