Open e-mail attachment

I just recieved an e-mail with an mp4 video attached and it says that it is an "unsupported attachment". From what I understand the playbook should be able to open mp4s. Do I need an app for it or something?

I'm trying to open http://www.pdfpictures.com/pdf/download.php?name=NASA-Full.pdf specifically. It works but the video won't play. How can I tell what the codec is on it? if that link didnt work, its the NASA brochure on this page: http://www.pdfpictures.com/ebrochures.html
Are Playbooks programed to support interactive PDFs? I think most of them are in SWF format.

I've been sent an e-mail attachment from Russia to the UK but when I click on 'downdload file' I get the message 'Cannot open file'.
I'm using Windows 7 on a laptop.
Would be grateful for any advice.

Better yet, ask the sender to use a file sharing service (Acrobat Workspaces, Dropbox, Google Drive, ...), then send the download link by email.

There are a multitude of questions/answers to go through to help you out, but those won't work unless you come to the forums and register an account. For instance, if you are on BES, then you need to go see your BES admins as they are in control. If you are on BIS, then there may be resolution steps you can attempt:
1) Register HRT:
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
2) Resend Service Books:
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

Can't open e-mail attachment

I have an email with an attachment that won't open. It told me to sign up for Adobe, which I did, but the attached
still won't open. What do I do?

Do you get an error message when you try to open the PDF attachment? You say you signed up for Adobe; does that mean you get a free Acrobat.com account? Or, did you download and install the free Adobe Reader? If you don't have Reader, please download it from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html and install it. Once it's installed, you should be able to open PDF attachments.

since installing MAC OS 10.7.2 I can not open an type of attachment from emails.

Cannot Open E-Mail Attachements

I have a Mac Book Pro and I am finding I cannot open attachments that my husband sends from his computer that is Windows based. I always get win mail.dat as the title of the attachment and when I download it I get a picture of a traffic cone with orange strips on it and I still cannot open it.

That winmail.dat attachment is a kind of Outlook/Exchange-ecosystem "universal" container for encoded files of many types. If you husband cannot adjust the settings in his email program to avoid the use of the container file, there are programs that you can run on your Mac to decode it. One such is called "TNEF's Enough" ("TNEF" standing for "Transport Neutral Encapsulation Format" used to encode winmail.dat attachments).

"Open in" mail attachment List option

Other posters have concluded that no matter how many apps that can open an attachment you are limited to ten open-in options !!
I have a lot of apps (more than 10 !!) that are be able to open in, so i need to change the order list and choose my preferred ten apps.
Now this isn't possible, when i install another app it take the place for example to DropBox (one of my preferred) and i lost the possibility to open in Dropbox !!
May you help me please ?

Opening E mail Attachments

I am unable to open my e mail attachments. They are coming in as Windows Media Center Zip files, which will not open.

I am using both safari and firefox and when I receive an e mail with an internet link, my computer uses safari to view. If i want to change to Firefox, how do 'i change this preference??
In addition, I have just loaded office 2008 and it is now the default for word or excel e mail attachments. How do I revert to office 2004 as default?

the apple + i brings up the "open with" tab, I make the changes as suggested and apply to all but when I test this by going to an e mail that has been received, an excel document opens with excel 2008, not 2004.
Do other excel documents open with '08 or '04? What about word and powerpoint? Did you maybe forget to change excel?

Open Mail attachment in new window.

hi,
i want to open a mail attachment using new window (in IE). here i am able to manage to create the new window and viewing the contents but the problem is the new window is opening before the 'open', 'save' or 'cancel' dialog box is coming.
Currently in my JSP i am calling
<a href="<%= sformUrl %> target="newwindow"><%= name %></a>
this will open a window immediately and dialog box will come after that. if i select 'save', the new window get closed.
i want the new window to open only if i select open.
Can anybody help me?

Java Mapping: payload as mail attachment and dynamic file name .

The code seems to work fine, when either of the functionality is implemented.

If you notice the problem is, the undesired "exclamation mark" that gets added in some fields before the actual value.
In the above case.. look at "ItemDeliveryReferenceType="! ARN">DAL"
the exclamation mark before value "ARN is unwanted, which leads to improper XML formation.
Cant figure out why is this coming.

I can't open (show)the attachment pdf or doc in the IPhone 5

When I try to open a mail attachment pdf then the screen chang but I can't see the pdf file. Also with doc and xls. When I open the same mail attachment in my IPad3 iOS6 its working fine.

Hmmmm...... It seems off..... but I also have just realised I haven't actually recieved any files (PDF, Word, Excel etc) since I got my iPhone on Friday.
I'm going to test in now.
(Also on this forum..... 99.9% of the time a hard reset seems to work haha!)

Correct. The difference between "Mail PDF" and "Save PDF" is that the first opens a new Mail message with the file attached. the second saves a file which you may attach to an email message.

Not familiar with Terrainathome, but my guess is that the company is sending an email message containing HTML code that downloads what's essentially a web page into the displayed message. To do that, you'll need a website, software that will produce the necessary HTML code, and recipients with email clients capable of interpreting HTML (which is 'most email clients' these days).
