Open keynote files in preview

I tried to uninstall iWork 09 trial, and may have gone a little nuts removing files  from my system. I search for and removed files with the word iWork in them from my system. That was dumb. Now I can't open keynote files in Preview (which I could do before). I know there is a Library file somewhere which gives this ability, but I don't know which one or how to get it back.
I am using Yosemite and do not have iWork.
Sam

As I said, I do not have keynote. Also I did not notice these files included in the keynote 09 manifest. I believe it is part of Mac OS.

    is the file,
would you plz test the keynote file, which was working just great before bringin he

I tried your file on the iPad and Keynote crashed. Then I transferred the file to my Mac, opened it in Keynote on Mac, saved it, and synched back to iPad. Now I can open the file on the iPad -- it takes some time due to all the images. Also, here are some delays between the slides when presenting on the iPad.
BTW: Make sure to use the latest version of Keynote on Mac (5.0.5).

  • Cant open Keynote file after reinstall Keynote.

Cant open Keynote file after reinstall Keynote.
    File there: https://yadi.sk/d/Alxao3sydmdLQ
What the problem? Who can help me?

Tested your file and it is corrupt.
My only suggestion is to find a backup copy of the file as Keynote files have the reputation of being unrecoverable once they become corrupt.

  • Can't open Keynote files on my Mac - but they open fine on other Macs

+I had this query in the Keynote 8 section, but was getting no replies - so I'm posting it here too.+
If I attempt to open any Keynote files, I now get this error message.
    "Can't open file "+File path: file name+.key"
To clarify, the text in italics above shows the actual file's file path and name.
The file will then will appear on screen, but is unresponsive to any clicks or menu commands.
The files will open successfully on other Macs, so they aren't corrupt.
The same applies when creating a new file from Keynote: All screen menus / buttons are dead - all I can do is drag the main window around the screen.
I've tried to reinstall Keynote, but this hasn't resolved the problem. I've checked that I'm running the latest version (4.04 of Keynote 8) - and I have nearly 12gb free on my hard disc. I've also thrown out any Keynote related files I could find in library or preferences in case some application settings had been corrupted. (Having said that, I don't know if I caught them all - as I just used Spotlight to find files with the name Keynote.)
Are there specific preference / system files that I should look for and dump? Is there an easy way to do a complete uninstall of Keynote so I can try another install? Or is this a symptom of something else?
    All ideas gratefully appreciated!

All the issues I describe in my questions around this time re: Keynote were actually symptoms of a soon-to-die laptop. The Hard Disc was corrupting, and Keynote was the first application to be affected.

  • Can't open .DNG files in Preview and others

I am using Adobe DNG converter OR Lightroom to convert .RW2 from a Panasonic Lumix 3 to .DNG
    This works:
    1. Working with files in LR
    2. Use PanoMaker to create panoramas
    3. Create HDR with Photomagix
    This does not work
    4. Open files with MAC OS X 10.4.11 Preview (Vorscha) even though thumbnails look ok.
It says (in German) that it can not open the file
    5. View files in Houdahgeo - Adding GPS info works
    5. Use Photomagico to creat slide shows - only see thumbnails at the bottom
I also played with the settings in Adobe DNG Converter and LR (Raw 2.4, 4.1, 4.6, 5.4, User...Linear...Not compresse) but it did not help.
I searched multiple forums, found the problem twice mentioned on the side but never resolved. One hinted that its a problem since 10.4.11

    Hi,
    (1) I'd think that if Adobe makes a XYZ to DNG converter for MAC OS X the goal would would that the following can open such a DNG file
            (a) All Adobe Apps ..... it works ....... mission accomplished
             (b) The native DNG viewer in OS X  which is "Preview" .... it does not work!!!
Note: the above works if XYZ is Canons RAW.  If it is coming from a Panasonic LX3 one is out of luck
    (2) I just tried the above with LR 2.6RC and DNG Converter 5.6. Nothing has changed.
Anybody having an idea? work around?

.... 3 additional additions to my original message.
    (a) I am still on Tiger 10.4.11
    (b) The conversion if from Canon's CR2 to .DNG in Adobe Raw Converter (ARC) or LightRoom (LR) can be viewed in Preview just fine
    (c) It almost looks like ARC or LR convert in way which is good encough for LR and a few others (Panomaker, HDR tools etc.) but not for all
    Any ideas how to fix?

  • I can't open several files in preview

since 2 weeks, I have not been able to open more than 1 file (whatever it is pdf, jpg...) with the Preview app. Once preview is open, all the files I want to preview need a permission I obviously had before, I tried to fiddle the Library and read advices here but nothing work. SO I have to quit the preview app to be able to open just one file. any idea?

Open Preview, select Preview Preferences and in the General tab select "Open each file in it's own window"

  • How do I NOT open .PDF files in Preview?

    Hi Everybody,
I am sure that this is a downright goofy question, but I have looked through the forums and can't seem to find out how to open .pdf files in Acrobat by default instead of Preview. It's probably right in front of my nose, but I'm not finding it. A little help?
    TIA for your patience.
    KC

    Hi Carbonfish,
Select a PDF in Finder, hit ⌘ i for get info. Half way down the window that opens you will see 'Open with', click on the arrow. If Acrobat is in the list, select it and then click the 'Change all' button. If it's not on the list, click 'other' and navigate to Acrobat in the new finder window that opens and select it, then 'Change all'.
    Job done!
    Best of luck,
    Adrian

  • Cannot open jpg files in Preview? Error message "may be damaged or use a file format that preview does not recognize".

For some reason I cannot open jpg files from a co-worker who previosuly sent files without any problems.  I just bought a MacBook Air with OS X Lion & Preview won't open the files.  She sent the same files to another co-worker who opened without any issues?  Help!  Anyone have any suggestions after having the same or similar problem?

I don't have an answer as to why Preview doesn't want to cooperate, but if you only need to view the jpeg's and do nothing else to them, you can use two FREE applications that come already pre-installed on your Mac... Those are iPhoto and Safari. Just drag and drop over the application icon.
You can also find several FREE photo viewers in the APP STORE.

  • Opening pdf files in preview, mine will only open in colorsync utility. help

My macbook operating on Mac os 10.5.6 when opening pdf files it will only open them with colorsync utility and I can't alter the files (rotate/zoom etc) like I can when I can open it with Preview on my iMac desktop... I don't seem to have preview on my macbook. Is there anywhere I can download it from or somehow transfer it from my iMac to my macbook?? Maybe I just can't find it properly?? Help!

do a spotlight search for Preview. can you find it? it should be in the main Applications folder at the top level of the hard drive. if you can't find it you can reinstall it from the leopard install DVD using Pacifist

  • I can't open multiple files on preview, help?

Every time I open a folder of new files (all .jpg but downloaded with Chrome) it keeps asking me if I'm sure I want to open the file, and it only opens one of the selected files, I can't find anything on how to fix this with the preferences (neither preview's nor system's) and it's bothering me a lot because it never did this with Leopard.
Is there a way to fix this somehow?

I have CS5 Web Premium on MacOSX and I have the same problem with Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator...  when I select a few files and drag them onto the app icon in my dock it only opens 1 of the files...  I have checked the tabs there are no other tabs/files opening.  And I don't know how to fix it...  it really bothers me!!!  :-/
Please tell me you have another solution up your sleeve?

  • Camera Raw 2 and opening these files in Preview.

Is it possible to update Preview so that I can open CR2 format images?
Also I have installed Canons Digital Photo Professional which does open CR2 files but they remain 'blocky' and unusable?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Phil

I think I will stay with Tiger on my PB G4 1.25Ghz, I hope to upgrade my computer in the near future and anyway Leopard might be just that one step too far in upgrades for my machine.
As to the problems with opening Camera Raw files with Canon's DPP this was solved by the use of a PC, horror of horrors I know. But as soon as I showed the file to DPP running on a PC I got a windows message saying that the file was probably corrupted. So shooting a couple of new shots on my camera and offering those up and they opened quite happily on the PC. Then I tried the same files on my Mac and they also opened with no problems. Why the Mac did not show the same error I don't know. Anyway I can happily process Camera Raw on my Mac using DPP courtesy of Canon under Tiger. My Photoshop Elements 4 with the latest RAW plug-in sadly refuses to recognise CR2 files, I expect you have to buy the latest version of PSE to get that functionality.
    So back to taking photo's.
