Dear Creative Labs
I'm a proud owner of a Creative Zen Vision W. In this day and age you either have to be a millionaire or truly love videos to buy one; I belong to the secound group.
We need support for soft subtitles in Creative Zen Vision, Vision W, Vision:M and so forth. Simply put. It can be done with 0 lines of code in the firmware source, and you know it. Everyone are sick and tired of trying to find workarounds.

Treat us with some respect. People have been begging for soft subs support since the Vision was released in 2005, and you haven't done **bleep**.
I tried to write a "down to earth" letter here, but you're truly pissing me off.

  • Lack of support for Canon G7 and G9. Alternatives?

I am really disappointed about the lack of support for the Canon G9, and looking at the list of compatible cameras (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306835) I notice that Canon G7 - even if it does not have a RAW format, is not supported either.
I am thinking that the purchase of the G9 may have been premature and that I may need to sell it and get another cam that is supported by Apple/Aperture.
What would you guys do? Is there a cam out there similar to the G9 at the moment that has a Apple-supported RAW format?
    Best regards,
    Kjell Are Refsvik

I think the camera closest to the G9 that has RAW support from Apple are the Panasonic DMC-LX2/Leica D-Lux 3 twins. Don't know where you are, but in the US, the Panasonic costs about $400. 10MP, 28-112mm (35mm equivalent) Leica lens, very compact body, and RAW output. The Leica costs $599, and has that classic look.
I don't know much about that cameras, but you may want to investigate.

  • DirectTV lack of support for Apple TV channels

Is there a common site to file a complaint with DirectTV over the lack of support for AppleTV channels?  Or do I have to go to each channels site?
    Thanks for any help!
    Regards,
    -Brian

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The Apple TV 1 is very much different than the later Apple TV is. For a start it doesn't support homesharing or airplay. It doesn't have many features of the later Apple TV is such as iTunes march, MLB, WSJ, photo stream and others. Additionally, it does not support re-downloading of TV shows and movies (US only).
It's also plays lower resolution video only.

  • Can Apple comment on their lack of support for burning CD-TEXT?

Can Apple comment on their lack of support for burning CD-TEXT?
I've been getting the runaround from the support people. They said to resolve my issue check out the following kb articles. The articles were aimed at giving me more information about ID3 tags and formats that I care about. I just want my burnt cd's to work in my CD-TEXT capable cd player.
I've done this using alternate software packages so I know my hardware supports it. I'm really looking for a complete solution for myself (techie) and my wife (non-Techie) to use and make us both happy. I have to admit, this really bothers me.
I know I'm not the only person asking about this. Please add the support for CD-TEXT to I-Tunes.
    Thanks

Apple people don't comment here, it's a user to user forum.
But you've got me interested. CD-TEXT, what is it? Should I just look it up in wikipedia or do you have a better explanation of what it is you're after?

  • Lack of support for the Android Tablet Forum

It seems there is a lack of Lenovo involvement in the Android Tablet forum.  I'm posting here in order to point this out as someone with Lenovo really needs to follow up on the issues there. Many of us are waiting on the Lollipop update for our tablets and the roadmap states that an update was released, yet no consumers have it.  It even went so far that a Lenovo employee told people that their Lollipop update would be released country by country starting that day, and almost a month later, no one on the forum has it (possibly no one worldwide). This lack of support will drive some customers away.  We don't ask for much, just keep us up to date and let us know that our issues are not ignored.  Right now, we feel ignored. The hardware of the tablets are very nice and extremely capable, we just need some guidance and answers.

Lenovo just doesn't care. All they want is a quick sell with absolutly NO SUPPORT !!.They may well sell good hardware but it is all useless without some support. Are all companys this bad?

  • Lack of support for rosetta in Lion

with the lack of support in Lion for Rosetta (so the rumours go) how am I fixed with my epson 2400 scanner an HP 5552 printer?

You should look at the current drivers available for both devices, if they're supported in Snow Leopard upgrading to Lion should probably will not affect them however we won't know for sure until Lion is released. You can find the devices currently supported at:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
BTW I don't think Rosetta has anything to do with drivers for scanners and printers. If you are using Epson and HP software that was written for PPC based computers then you may have a valid concern. You can always voice your concern at www.apple.com/feedback.

  • Lack of support for FIM database mirroring

The official line is that database mirroring is not a supported architecture for the FIM deployment. I am not proposing using this, however I'd like to understand 1) What the issues really would be with a mirrored database deployment, 2) Will support
ever be added for this, and will it come in the form of SQL AlwaysOn?
    Really appreciate help and input.
    Rgds,
    David

Database mirroring comes has two modes regarding transactions: synchronous or asynchronous.
Synchronous requires that the data be committed in both places before releasing the transaction. This has a big performance impact on the FIM Service database and to a lesser extent on the FIM Sync Database.
Asynchronous means that data isn't committed in both places at the same time, the mirror can fall behind and then in failover you could be behind. In order to have automatic failover with Mirroring you have to be able to modify the connection string to include
the failover partner or the client has to support getting that data at first logon. While you can modify the FIM database connection strings, it is not understood if FIM is using database clients that support mirroring. I believe it is. Even with asynchronous
you still have performance hit for copying every transaction to the mirror.
SQL Always On combines the best of mirroring and clustering to allow you to group databases together into an availability set, and then automatic failover the whole group to another server. It should be noted that Always On makes use of a similar underlying
mechanisms as mirroring to copy the data -- this is evident when you read that Always on also has an asynchronous and synchronous mode. You will most likely run into the same performance quandary.
Will the product group add support for it? My guess is that it depends on if they find a good way to address the performance issues.

  • Hugely disappointed with Apples lack of Support for iPhone 3G

I am so very disappointed in Apples lack of response or help regarding the OS4 and iphone 3G.
Originally a hugh support of Apple's philosophy and product, I find myself questioning their values and ulterior motives.
Currently, I have an iphone 3G 8GB. It worked like a dream until I installed the OS4. Like other forum members, my phone freezes, sputters, chokes and does all sorts of unusual oddities. I have gone to the Genius Bar at Apple only to be told that, it works fine for everyone else, excluding me and that basically, there is nothing that they can do about it.
I bring to their attention that on the actual Apple forum, there are others' like myself complaining of the same things! The response I get is that, people on here are not genuine and that you can't believe everything you read. Are they for real? The other responses that I get is to, reboot 3 to 4 times a day, restore, restore to factory, and to wait for the update of OS4.
But if OS4 is the culprit then how can it accommodate my iphone 3G?
Oh and the best response I get from the Apple store is, "if you are unhappy with your phone, you can upgrade to the iphone 4"!
Just recently, I did as told, and updated the OS4 on my phone.. and guess what!? It is worse off than it was previously. I just find it ironic that Apple refused to acknowledge the fact that this operating system (OS4) is rubbish for 3G users.
IM STILL WAITING FOR APPLE TO MAKE IT RIGHT

I can only agree with the above. My iPhone 16gb was fine and after my Wife my best friend to be honest. I've never had a more useful piece of i.t. kit and it's really made a difference to my lifestyle.
My wife's is still on 3.1.2 and comparing our two phones mine *****. My fault for not listening, but you sort of trust Apple until they let you down. OS4 was total crap, 4.0.1 still poor. It's barely faster and several thumbnail photos have gone from the camera roll. Listen to us Mr Jobs!!!
Your iPhone is not like normal phones. Your customers do not simply discard it for a new one, they may well buy a new version, but the old one will pass between family and friends and still be expected to function well many years hence. My current phone is earmarked for my son, my wife's for my daughter and so on as we renew our contracts. We EXPECT these things to work properly, and if you want loyal Apple customers to be retained you must support your older models fully.
A 10 year old with his Dad's old 3g used as an iPod, will be more likely to get a newer iPhone or iMac later on.

  • Disappointing lack of support for Unicode

I was very disappointed to find that Pages 2 still cannot properly support Unicode. TextEdit does a vastly better job of supporting Unicode. I can paste Unicode text into Pages 2 that I have already edited in TextEdit, but it cannot be properly typed in or edited in Pages 2 with the full range of Unicode. Some Unicode is okay, but not all of it. Absolutely can't be done! When are they going to get it right?

    does Pages 2 do
the double-overstrike formatting that we discussed in
re Navajo some times back? Pages 1, unlike TextEdit,
wouldn't let you click an ogonek or acute accent onto
a vowel with the other. (I was looking to make Navajo
    a- or o-with-acute-accent-and-ogonek.)
I think so. I believe even Pages 1 was able to do that right after some OS update, but I can't remember now. Anyway I just tested Pages 2 (10.3.9) and made the a and o with the two accents using OptionShiftm for combining ogonek and OptionShifte for combining acute (US Extended Layout). Lucida Grande Font.

  • Lack of support for Pages

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. I upgraded Pages on an iPhone 4 running iOS 7 and then foolishly opened one of my documents that was stored in iCloud. All seemed to be working fine until I tried to open the same document using Pages on my 1st Generation iPad. This app is no longer compatible with the file format and there doesn't seem to be an update for the App. Talk about Green credentials, 1st Gen iPad, 3 1/2  years old soon to be consigned to the bin

Indeed, cross functionality with bibliographic tools like EndNote or Bookends is critical for us academics. Word works well with these programs, not because of specific functionality in Word, but because Word has a robust(?) scripting language, field codes, etc: Visual Basic for Applications. I am hopeful that as Pages AppleScript implementation becomes more mature that Apple too will provide the necessary hooks for application developers.
In the meantime, because I have to have Word for compatability, the solution is relatively easy:
Do your writing in Pages, including inserting your references in the text where you want them using the format of your favorite program (EndNote/BookEnds/Sente). When you have finished your writing, Export the document to Word and use the EndNote/BookEnds/Sente add-in to format your Bibliography. Then, if you want to or need to, you can open up the formatted document in Pages. If you choose to do this, be sure to keep the unformatted Pages "master" document and make all your changes there, in case you need to change the citation style, etc.
True, this is less convenient than, say, EndNote's cite-while-you write on the fly formatting but in my experience this feature crashed with some regularity. The extra steps are worth it for me because I find Pages to be a more comfortable writing environment than Word.

  • Lack of support for Camera Raw plugin for Mac 10.6.8

I'm hoping to find some solutions to the road block I've run into.    I'd been using Photoshop CS6 with Mac OS 10.6.8 without any problems.
Then I got a new camera this week, and that's when the problems began.....
I wanted to edit the raw files (R2W format) from the Panasonic GH4, and needed to install the proper Camera Raw plugin.   I installed version 8.6, and not only did Photoshop refuse to acknowledge the installed plugin, but it was no long able to open ANY digital photograph.
I tried installing version 8.5, as well as removing various preference files, repairing permissions, rebuilding volumes (via DIsc Warrior + Drive Geinus) and all sorts of other suggestions I found online.   I was really hoping that a manual drag + drop of the plugin to the  Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CC/File Formats folder would do the trick, but NOTHING seemed to work for me.  I spent most of the day on Thursday trying to figure a solution, and wound up going back to my original Camera Raw plugin (version 8.3) just to be able to use Photoshop again.
I would have liked to have used the DNG Converter, but it doesn't work with Mac OS 10.6.8 either.
There's various reasons why I continue to use 10.6.8 as my primary OS - so many of my OTHER favorite softwares were radically changed or eliminated with the so-called "upgrades" and I really hate the way so many things were altered in what should be simple navigation in the Finder.  I do have OS 10.8 installed on a backup hard drive, but I really don't want to use this as my primary OS....  at least not at this point in time.
    So here's my plea ...
    Adobe -
PLEASE give me an updated version of the Camera Raw plugin that I can use with Photoshop CS6 under Mac OS 10.6.8.
PLEASE provide a version of DNG Converter that will also work with that particular set-up.
.... or help me find a solution so I can install these plugins without the massive headaches.

You can hook up the external 10.8 drive, boot into it, run the DNG 8.5 converter there pointing it to your raw files folder, boot back to the 10.6.8 system and you should have DNGs that will open in ACR 8.3

  • Frustration with lack of support for Flash Player on IPad. When is Apple going to support Flash?

When is Apple going to support Flash Player on IPad?
The majority of sites that have multimedia content rely on Flash. Safari users are missing out on tons and tons of content that depends on Flash.  I have and love my IPad 2. I should be able to use this awesome thing to get at anything I need to on the Internet. Yet when I need to access Flash sites, I am forced back to my windows PC.
Please Apple Make it happen! I'm tired of being ragged by android users on this. You need to fix it.

    xx66stangxx wrote:
    Flash is a dieing technology.
Really it's not seeming that way.
In fact, since the iPad release, and Steve Jobs famously declairing the death of Flash, Flash useage has increased.
Check it out 95.75% of all internet connected devices have the Flash Player.
    http://www.statowl.com/flash.php
(the mac only has 12% share, it must be totally doomed then)
IOS Apps are now made using Adobe Flash
    http://thenextweb.com/apple/2011/09/09/the-best-selling-ipad-app-on-the-app-stor e-was-created-with-adobe-flash/
And so are Android, Blackberry etc.
And HTML5 was supposed to be Apple's answer to all the missing content, yet here, 3 years later, HTML5 is no where to be seen, and lacks support/performance to compete with Flash.
    http://getmoai.com/images/banners/mobilegaming-html5-vs-alternatives-011112-moai .jpg
Just look at how when you step outside the reality distortion field, things look much different. Look at HTML5 performance compared to Flash.... wasn't HTML5 supposed to outperform and save us from dead batteries? Well even 3 years after Steve Jobs claims it's still using 5x more resources than Flash.
This demo shows 16,250 sprites animating at 60fps using the Flash player, something HTML5 can't even do with less than 100 sprites.
    http://www.bytearray.org/?p=4074
HTML5 is a joke, Flash is real, and is providing real content to real people right now. If you as an Apple owner believe the ownership of an IOS device is worth this loss, then more power to you.

  • Lack of support for rtl8187

Hi, i know that the lack of the driver rtl8187 is a known issue, i've an Alfa Usb wifi adapter Awus036h whch loses the connection each times i start a download. I've tried following the commands written on the Wiki but with no results. I fixed the problem only on Arch i686 using ndiswrapper and Windows Xp_32 bit driver for the adapter (on Arch x86_64 i get a kernel panic with the same driver of Wind_64bit).
I noticed that using Ubuntu there isn't this problem and i don't get any disconnection. Maybe due to the differences between the two  kernels, but how can we get the Ubuntu's advantages of rtl8187 into Arch too?
    Thanks, Marco

    Hi Marco,
Same issues here.. Rtl8187 is driving me mad
Did you make any progress on Arch x86_64 and ndiswrapper?
I'm currently using rtl8187 from compat-wireless-snp AUR package. Seems to work a bit better than kernel stock.
    Also, i noticed, setting :
    sudo iwconfig [w_iface] retry 255
    greatly imporves rtl8187 behaviour..
    Cheers!

  • Regarding Multi Language support for Z-Report

    Hi Expert,
I have requirement of supporting multi language for Z- report.
My existing system default client language is EN. Now I have to use Z-Report in other language like DE (German), ES (Spanish) ._But when I tried to execute Z-report in Other Language. In Parameter screen it shows system fields (those I have defined in parameters fields variable) not a text field name._
If anybody have experience pl. explode how to resolve the problem.
thanks in advance and for solution I will give u full points.
    Regards

    Hi,
U have to maintain translations for the text elements and selection texts u created while creating the report. do like this.
Open ur report text elements in change mode.
Menu->goto->Translation* Here give the source language as EN and  target language as DE(German) and press enter. It will show all selection screen elements and text elements. Here give the translated text in corrosponding language if have the one else u can simply give the english text itself. After filling all the elements just press save. Now u will get a success/status message
100% matches on all texts. U have to repeat this process for all the languages u want.
After this log in to ur other languages(other than EN) and check. What ever u maintained there those will appear here.
For standard reports/user exits u have to use transaction SE63 for maintaining translations.
    Thanks,
    Vinod.
