Open pdf doc with reader 9 when acrobat 8 installed
Hello,
I created a form with acrobat 9 and distributed it.
It appears that on a windows xp computer that already has acrobat 8 installed, it is impossible to open the form with reader 9, (after installing it, of course...).
Then, I'd rather create an excel file...
Please, all suggestions to solve that issue very quickly are welcome.
Thx++
Pat

Cannot open PDF files with Reader XI message appears Adobe Reader has stopped working
Cannot open PDF files with Reader XI message appears Adobe Reader has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working
Which Operating system you are using?
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)] and then try to open the file. -
Outlook2013 email message goes behind main Outlook window when opening PDF attachment with Reader 11
Problem statement: Outlook 2013 email message goes behind main Outlook window when opening PDF attachment with Adobe Reader 11.0.3
Environment: Windows 8 x64; Office 2013; Adobe Reader 11.0.3
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Open Outlook 2013
2. Open email message with PDF attachment
3. Open PDF attachment (with Adobe Reader as default PDF viewer)
4. Close Adobe Reader
Results: Original email message with PDF attacment now sits behind the main Outlook window
Expected results: Original email message should be on top of main Outlook window as it was when opening the PDF attachment
Note: Adobe Acrobat Profession performs as expected - the original email is on top of the main Outlook window - This only seems to be a problem with Adobe Reader.
Has anyone else experience this problem? If so, have you found a work-around?
Thanks,
MikeFrom: new window opens behind existing window - how to modify?
I had this problem happening in Outlook.
If I tried to open an email, it would open behind the main Outlook window.
The same happened if I opened a link in the email - it would open behind the mail.
The fix that was suggested to me was so simple that I still don't believe it.
Right click on the task bar and unlock the taskbar, then lock it again.
Close down Outlook and re-start it.
Problem solved! Just dont know how or why.

Have tried redownloading reader and flash but still having trouble
How are you trying to open them? Are you using a browser (if so which one)? What versions of Reader and Acrobat might be useful. If in a browser, can you right click on the PDF and select to open in a specific application like reader?

Have to click multiple times to open PDF files with Reader XI
Having issues opening pdf files in Adobe Reader XI. Many times I have to double click 3 or 4 times before the document will display on my screen. This is even more of an issue when trying to open a pdf in a browser, and will often cause IE to crash. Every time I try to open a pdf file there is a process that is started, so I end up with a stack of AcroRd32.exe processes running with nothing to show for it. I tried re-installing Reader, removing Acrobat 8 Standard, etc with no success. OS is Windows 7, SP1. Any help out there?
You can't have both Acrobat 8 and Reader XI installed at the same time. They're not compatible with one another. Acrobat XI and Reader XI is fine, though.
Also, Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Windows 7... -
Can't open PDF doc with 9.1
I have numerous clients that have Adobe Acrobat 5 AND Acrobat Reader 9.1.
They use version 5 to edit and create pdf's and they use 9.1 Reader to receive new orders.
They have to open the emailed PDF Attachment with 9.1 but when they try to open it, it continues to use version 5 instead of Reader 9.1.
I've verified the File association is setup to open with 9.1 but still no luck... it still opens with 5.
Now if they save an attachment to the hard drive and open it, it does open with 9.1.
Any suggestions?
Pls help,
SteveHave them try opening Reader before using the e-mail. That may resolve the issue. Many e-mail packages also have a list of applications and associated extensions. If your client is one of them, try changing the association in your client.

Problem opening pdf documents with reader
We have an hp computer running on windows 8. It came with adobe reader installed which worked fine until about a month ago. Since then when you try to open a pdf document on an online page, a message comes up "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, pleae exit and try again." When you try to open other documents that have been saved to the computer a message comes up Adobe Reader Protected Mode which indicates that Adobe Reader cannot open in protected mode due to an incompatibility with your system configuration. It then asks if you want to open reader with protected mode disabled, always open it that way or not open with protected mode disabled. If you choose the open it with protected mode disabled this time, a message comes back indicating Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL.
We've uninstalled reader and downloaded apparently successfully the version for windows 8 several times, but without any success - same messages come up. Sound familiar at all? I don't want to have to pay a computer guy for something that really seems like it should be an easy fix (though I'm not a tech person, so not sure I find too many fixes easy!).
Thanks in advance for whatever anyone can offer. This may be helpful:

Can't Open PDF's with Reader 11
Just updated and downloaded Acrobat/Reader 11. Now when I try to open a PDF file, rather than opening it, my 'save' window opens as if I'm trying to save the file. Can't find any settings commands to change that. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Hi. Using XP and Firefox 17. They are usually PDF files from websites. For instance menus from restaurants websites or a google link to a PDF file. Never ran into this problem until I installed the new Acrobat/Reader version on Friday. If I go ahead and save the file to some location, I can then click on it there and it will open fine.

Can anyone help with this - do I have to uninstall Reader and then reinstall?
I have had a trial version of Acrobat X1 Pro - I have decided not to buy at this stage - for some time it has been conflicting with opening PDF docs after "saving as" from word 2007 - I uninstalled Pro X1 and now when I "save as" PDF from word 2007 to PDF it will save the document as a PDF but will not open the document to display after publishing - I have to got to where the file has been saved to view the new PDF document - this is really annoying - do I have to delete adobe reader and reinstall it - adobe needs to look at this conflict with acrobat pro as I have even gone it to properties and tried to have adobe reader as the default PDF program - the main issue is that I cannot view the PDF after publishing it from word 2007

I have been able to open PDF docs using C# API Process.Start("Full_path_To_the_PDF_File") in windows 7 or windows 8 with all previous versions of Acrobat32 reader.
However, with v11.0, the same command, in Windows 8, it does not open the PDF document. I can see the Acrobat(32) started in the task manager, but the document does open. Not sure how I can troble shoot this problem. Any help would be appreciated.I haven't use the C# API but I imagine it is the same as C ShellExecute. Which in turn is the same thing (in essence) as double clicking in Windows Explorer.
So... does Adobe Reader run normally on this machine?
And does it start and open if you double click on a PDF file? -
