Open Search Results in New Tab

Hi,
Is it possible to make the search bar open a new tab with the search results when I make a search?

HI,
Hover your mouse over the return you want to open in a new Tab, then press Command + Enter or your Return key.
If Safari crashes again, post the crash report here.

  • Open search result in new tab

I would like to create a site similar to Firefox, where the
search result opens in a new tab window. Doesn't anyone know how to
go about this. Can is only be done in flash or is there other
    options.:

In Dreamweaver I found where you can set a link to open in a
new window or in the same window that the person is viewing your
page in. I didn't see anything about a new tab. If you want your
url link to open in an all new window, open your document that
contains the specific url. Click in the text and it will show your
link in the Properties box at the bottom of the page. Just below
where you link URL is seen there is a TARGET drop down menu... It
has _self: this will cause the URL to open in the same window.
There is _blank: this will open the URL in an entirely new window.
It also has _parent, and _top. Not sure about them. Tried them on
one of my URL's and think they both opened in the same window I was
viewing my page in. Hope this is any help at all.

  • Stop Safari opening search results in new tab

Since updating to Safari 6.0.1 (and now 6.0.2) in OSX10.7.5 anytime I click a link which is a search engine search result (Google and Yahoo!, Ask.com has always done that) the result opens in a new tab. Previously results would open in the same tab and I could just press the 'back' button until I returned to the search results page. I would like to be able to go back to going back in my history, instead of switching between tabs. If anyone knows how I can restore the same tab thing instead of opening new tabs I would appreciate it as having a half dozen open tabs is frustrating, and I usually only need a second search result if the first was entirely unhelpful (thus rendering tabs a

I don't know about Yahoo, but Google has a setting to open results in a new window. If it's selected, deselect it.

  • New search result in new tab

I had firefox set that each time I clicked on a web site listed in a Google search result, it would open in a new tab. Now for some reason it does not work and I can't find the setting.

For the Google website you can set your preferences on the [http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en Google Search settings] page:
*Number of Results: Google's default (10 results) provides the fastest results.
*Results Window: Open search results in a new browser window.
    * Such details are stored in a cookie.
    * To keep such a setting you need an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep that cookie, especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"

  • Search results in new tab

How to display results typed to my search bar in new tab? It's probably changing something in about:config but what should I be looking for?

Does it help if you toggle <b>browser.search.openintab</b> to true on the <b>about:config</b> page?

  • Open search links in new tab

Ever since the last "update" 33.1 then 33.1.1 I've been unable to just clink a link in a Google search and a new tab opens why? Is it because Firefox is no longer going to use Google as it's prime search engine and it's a sneaky way of getting people to use Yahoo?

Did you disable all added toolbars and anti-virus add-ons?

  • Open bookmark results in "new tab". More is not possible!

[]Opening a bookmark or entering a web address does not work.
The result is only: "New tab".
Also opening in the Firefox Help menu results in "New tab".
By clicking on "New tab" nothing happens!

Can't you open any web page or do you only have that problem with bookmarks?
Issues with bookmarks or history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Open Search Results in new window

I have added the 'Search' portlet in one of my pages. what set up should I do to open the search results in a new window?

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I have an old version of Portal, so I have a different way to Edit Portlet. there I have 3 display options -
    1. Link That Displays Item In Folder Area
    2. Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window
    3. Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window
I already chose the 3rd option. But still, the results open in the same window. I am a newbie to Portal.
    thanks.

  • Why does using Google in the search bar (and only Google) not let me open search results in the same tab?

    Hello,
When I use Google in the search bar, I have to open the search results in a new tab. If I simply click on them to open in the current tab, I'm inevitably redirected right back to the main Google site. This has only started happening in the past month or two -- I'm considering switching to Chrome after 5 years with Firefox because of this. Please help! It's incredibly frustrating to consistently have to remind myself to open all search results in a new tab. It's quite a waste of time over the course of a day.
    Here are the basic steps:
    1) I do a search using Google in the search bar.
    2) As is supposed to happen, the search returns results in the current tab.
    3) When I click on a result link, I'm immediately sent back to www.google.com.
    4) If I hit back to try to return to the search results, I'm taken to the page that was loaded BEFORE I even did the search.
    5) If, and only if, I instead right-click or Mouse3 click on the search results and open them in a new tab, I can successfully go to the search result pages.
    --Thank you

  • On Click of Search button, display the results in new tab or window

When i click on the search button on the top right in sharepoint 2010, i want to open the search page in either new tab or window,
By default, when we click on search icon it redirects to the OOB search result page. the only thing i need to change is to open the result page in new window or tab. so the users remains on the same page & will see the search results in new page.
    Thanks, Kunal Govani

    Hi,
You need to change the XSL of the Search Core Results WebPart.
This article describes how to achieve this:
http://blog.henryong.com/2007/10/27/how-to-make-moss-2007-search-results-open-in-new-window/. It is written for SharePoint 2007 but it can be used for SharePoint 2010 as well.

  • When "Use Google Instant", "Open search results in a new browser window." does not function.

In the "Google Search Setting", if select "Do not use Google Instant", then the selected search result of Google Search will be displayed in a new window, but if "Use Google Instant", the selected result will replace Google Search window. This problem does not exist when using Chrome Browser.

That does what it says - even if Google tells the browser to open the page in a new window, you have told Firefox to ignore that and open it in a new tab. Uncheck the box and you should get the result you want.

  • Is there a setting to get searches performed in the search bar to open up in a new tab...like it does with Google toolbar?

    See question

You can change a hidden preference to make search results from the Search Bar (upper right corner) open in a new tab:
#type '''''about:config''''' in the Location/URL bar and press the Enter key
#on the warning, promise to be careful
    #Filter = '''browser.search.openintab'''
#in the lower panel, double-click on that preference to toggle the Value column to '''''true''''' or '''''false''''' (see below)
#*value='''''true '''''will open search results in a new tab
#*value='''''false '''''(default) will open search results in the current tab
'''If this reply solves your problem, please click "Solved It" next to this reply when <u>signed-in</u> to the forum.'''
Not related to your question, but...
