Open with in Elements 12

I used to be able to right click on a photo and select open with/Elements 11 but in Elements 12 it will not open photo. Any hints on how to do this. I am not a fan with organizer and I would like to select a raw file and right click on the photo and open with elements 12. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you're looking far enough down the list? For some reason in PSE 12, the editor isn't under Adobe Photoshop Elements, but just Photoshop Elements:

  • Right Click open with on Elements 13

Not a huge biggie, but I've updated to PSE13 (Loving the improvements, especially the undo feature; and the stability of PSE13 compared to 12 [for Mac that is] ) I'm running Mavericks OS X 10.9.5. My camera a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 (great camera by-the-way). Now if I right click the RW2 image I do not get an option to open with PSE13 which strikes me as odd. I've used 'open with,' other-PSE13 Editor and selected always open with said PSE13. So now as soon as I left click up comes PSE13 for editing which was precisely what I was after. The default on RC is PhotoMatix which I use occasionally. Topaz plug-ins simply flew over from 12 to 13 so all fine other than that daft thing on the RC.
Why then do I not get an option to open with PSE13 if you right click a RW2 file? Everything else on the HD offers that choice; other than the RW2 files from my camera.
    RC=Right Click.
    Thank you in advance
    Mozzy.

Actually scratch that idea. Just clicking does not now open these RAW CR2 files from my FZ1000. If I use 'other on right click I can select this option but it does not stay. The ONLY way I can open Raw files from my FZ1000 in Elements 13 / Mavericks is to right click and use 'other' then PSE13 tick the box and open the file; all a hugely slow process.
Photomatix is the ONLY (other than preview) programme that these CR2 files will default to.
    Please can someone advise.

  • Cannot "Open With.." in Photoshop Elements 10

I've upgraded from PE9 to PE10 and then uninstalled PE9. When using PE9 (and PE8 before it) I could right click on a photo and select "Open with - Photoshop Elements 9". Since upgrading to PE10 I am unable to do this i.e 'Photoshop Elements 10' does not appear in the "Open With.." list. I am using Win7 64Bit.

This is what I found. The basic problem is that Photoshop Elements 10 is not properly registering itself when it installs. I upgraded from v9 to v10 so that may have something to do with it. If you do what the solution suggests then it will set up the registry entries so that “Open With..” will include PE10. However if you have an automatic registry cleaning program (I have System Mechanic) then it will soon delete those registry entries as the program referenced (i.e PE10) is not registered. Having discovered this I then set System Mechanic to ignore the appropriate registry entries and thus it does not delete them. “Open With… PE10” has since worked fine.

    Hello,

    a bug. Tank you.

    Hello,
I am using English version of PSE10 on same plateform but i am facing this type of issue.
I can suggest you to make PSE10 as default program to open any image.
To make PSE10 as default program :- Do Right click on image -> open with , then click browse then navigate to PSE .exe file and select it.
    This may solve your problem.

  • Open in Photoshop Elements 10 doesn't work

    Hi,
When I right click on at photo in Lightroom 3,5 and choose Edit In Photoshop Elements 10 the Photoshop Elements Editor opens, but the photo is not loaded.
Can anyone give me an answer to how to make it work? And of course Photoshop Elements 10 is installed! ;-)

I have exactly the same problem even if I right click in a photo in a standard Windows Explorer file and choose"open with" Photoshop Elements 10. The editor opens but the photo is nevert loaded. I have Win7, 64bits.

  • Arg. "Open With this Program Always" won't stick

I had a particularly hairy set of issues with my PC data import that involved multiple duplicates, permission issues, as well as Finder wanting to /copy/ data from within my hard drive instead of /moving/ this data. This was solved eventually with some advanced Geek Action at the Genius Bar.
This resulted in a great deal of wasted time, Copy crapping out due to my not having access to some image in a 500 image move, my not being exactly sure if I was able to archive all my images off my hard drive etc, etc.
Right now I believe I am not finding my effort to open a particular file type by right clicking, going to Browse, Open With, Use this action at all time to stick. I set jpg to open with Photoshop Elements and then it will open with Preview. This is driving me to the point of thinking I need to do a clean install.
Anyone think that this is in fact necessary?
Is there a good way to test the integrity of my system if I am starting to have doubts??!!
    Thanks!!

Well, er, in this case I get "You can’t change the item “Screen shot 2010-05-18 at 3.22.27 PM.png” to always open in the selected application".
That usually means your permissions for the file do not include write privileges. This is one of the things you can check in the "Get Info" window,
I'm not getting the right click menu to open when I hold down the Option Key but I will try the Get Info suggestions.
To be clear about it, a right click on the item is still required to open the popup menu; pressing the option key just changes a few of the menu item choices. Try it: right click & hold on a file as normal but before making any menu choice press & hold the option key.
There are dozens of timesaving shortcuts like this in Snow Leopard. One I just learned about: most users know that from the Apple menu you can open the "About This Mac" item & many know that from that you can click on the "More Info…" button to launch System Profiler. But you can do that in one step: if you hold down the Option key the "About This Mac" item becomes the "System Profiler" item.

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

  • I have elements 11 and I did the 30 day trial of elements 12. When the trial expired it caused problems with my elements 11. Nothing opens correctly, some not at all and I can't get help?

Please help me. I am so disappointed in Adobe. I was planning on upgrading to 12 after the trial period but was unsure still. The problem I am having now is that my PSE 11 Organizer is off the grid. When I right click on a file and go to "open With", it only offers me the option to use Premiere Elements and not Photoshop. I found the .exe@ file for Photoshop Elements 11 and created a shortcut to my task bar in order to get to it. That won't work on my organizer though. Should I just uninstall and reinstall the whole thing? I'm on Windows 8.1. I refuse to upgrade to 12 after being refused any support considering it was the trial they encouraged me to try that caused my problem. If I have to reinstall everything with it impact the projects I've created?

What computer operating system is involved in the Premiere Elements 11 and 13 issues? Same computer or different ones? Are you installing from purchased download installation files or from purchased installation disc? Does Premiere Elements 11 work completely on this computer whereas 13 will not?
Let us go through the typical drill so as to take nothing for granted.
    1. Does the problem exist with or without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled? Are you working with an individual home computer or in a
    school or company network?
    2. Are you running the program as Administrator and is there any "domain" account involved?
    3. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
    4. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on the computer with Premiere Elements?
Let us start by ruling in or out any of the above, and then we can decide what next.
Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • Problems with Premier Elements 7 Opening Earlier Projects

I have used Premier Elements 3 to create many 15-60 minute videos, most built from Photoshop Elements slide shows imported into Premier, and most with DVD output designed. After installing Version 7, I attempted to open these projects which it is supposed to do. A minority will open fine. The balance either cause the error "The project cannot be loaded - it may be damaged or contain outdated elements".
Does anyone else have these types of problems? I have tried all of the various methods outlined in the KB, like deleting preferences, etc., removing and re-installing, booting with nothing else loaded, etc. Nothing has any impact. I have talked to Adobe support and they are clueless and just walk me through the usual install/uninstall, etc. can anyone help? I have an enormous investment in time in these 3.0 videos and I bought Version 7 to upgrade and now it does not work! Thanks.

    Just a thought....
How are you opening the Premiere Elements 3 project in Premiere Elements 7?
According to the Adobe party line Premiere Elements 7 PDF, you can open projects created in earlier versions of Premiere Elements in Premiere Elements 7, but you cannot open projects created in Premiere Elements 7 in earlier versions.
Do you have Premiere Elements 3 and 7 on the same computer at this time?
The Adobe suggestions is, if problems in this regard and instead of right clicking the project file in its saved location, then:
    1. open the project from with Premiere Elements 7
    or
    2. right click the project file in its saved location and name Premiere Elements 7 as the Open With program
Check it out to see if I have interpreted this info correctly

  • Photoshop elements 8 under windows 7 "open with" cannot link editor

    Hello,
I recently upgraded my computer to 64bit, loaded my photographs and can open adobe photoshop elements 8 and editor and work on pictures.  However, I usually browse my pictures in windows explorer, open folders of interest and see small pictures and browse to select.  On picture I rigfht click and chose to "open with".  Now adobe elementsw editor does not appear in this list as it did previously.  I select "chose the program to open with" and when I find it and select it, it still does not appear.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

What is the size of your hard disk?  PSE 4 is a very old program and I suspect it is not able to access the entire hard disk on your machine.  Just a thought here.

  • I have been unable to get Photoshop Elements 11 to show in my Open With Programs

I have been unable to get Photoshop Elements 11 to show in my Open With Programs list. The program is installed but will not show in Open With programs.

    Hi,
You don't say which operating system you are using so I'll assume Windows 7 for now - try this.
    1) select the file that you want to open
    2) right click on it and go to the Open With option but select Choose default program at the bottom of the list - the following should open
    3) At the bottom of the list, there is Other Programs, you may need to scroll down. If PSE not in the list, continue with the following.
    4) Use the Browse button to browse to the following (omit x86 if on 32bit system)
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
I'm assuming that you want to open the image in the editor.
    5) Uncheck the Always use... option, otherwise double clicking on the file would cause the editor to open by default.
    6) Click on OK
PSE should now appear on your open with list.
    Good luck
    Brian
