OpenGL won't enable...

Hi. I noticed that I can't use effects such as repousse one of the features that encouraged me to upgrade to cs5. I was told to enable OpenGl drawing from Preferences but when I go there and try to enable it, it's greyed out and says: Graphics hardware acceleration is unavaible. You will need to upgrade your video driver or possibly your video card. I have the latest drivers downloaded and all. I also checked if my graphics card (Intel G45) was in the list of supported cards and it was. Please tell me how to solve or find a workaround for this problem. I am running on Windows 7 (x86).

All I'm saying, Chris, is that a simple disclaimer would have sufficed.  I simply would not have purchased had the information been available.  Just saying.
I just can't let this kind of dismissive statement go.  You're acting like you expected Adobe to call you up and personally tell you it wouldn't work on XP x64...  Life ain't like that!
I looked at this page, really quite easy to find on Adobe's site:  http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/systemreqs/
Lo and behold, it tells you operating systems Photoshop CS5 runs on.  XP x64 is not listed there.
Was the print too small or something?  XP x64 is not listed there.  Nor does XP x64 have a service pack 3, so you can't say you were confused by that.
You need to take some responsibility for missing this and stop blaming Adobe.

  • Ask to Buy Won't enable due to sharing

I've just set up a new iPod touch for my daughter, but when I go to set up Ask to buy in settings, it won't enable, and I get the following message:
"You cannot enable Ask to Buy for xxxxxx. Xxxxxxx is sharing purchases from an account also used by another family member. Ask to Buy can be enabled only on accounts that are not shared."
I've deactivated all sharing computers on both my wife's account and mine, but still have the same issue. I do not want to unleash a child unbridled on iTunes without the ability verify her purchases.
    Appreciate the help.

SAme here, on iPhone and iPad. I know in app purchases are not shareable but you should still be able to authorise them.

  • PS CS5(64) OpenGL Drawing Not Enabled by Default

Hello!  I have a PC I built last fall (PC2) I'm now grooming to be my main PC.  I'm preparing to rebuild my current main PC (PC1).  PC2 will soon have to do the heavy lifting.  PC2 has a performance problem;  I noticed when I was going through Photoshop CS5 (64-bit) preferences.  On the Performance page, GPU Settings area, Enable OpenGL Drawing is not checked by default.  (In my retiring PC1 Enable OpenGL Drawing is checked by default and the video adapter is listed in the area.)
I have this related oddity I hope we can troubleshoot:  When I drag to move or resize a window in PC2 only the outline moves or resizes until the mouse button is released.  (In my PC1, the windows move /resize as they are dragged.)  Any ideas where to start looking for the cause?
I had the identical nVidia driver on both PCs.  Just this afternoon I did a clean install of the latest nVidia driver, 270.61 on PC2.  It made no difference.
BTW, the motherboard, CPU, GPU (ZOTAC  ZT-98GES3M-FSL) and data HDD are the same model on both PCs.
    Here's my PC2 List:
    ASUS  P7P55D Deluxe  LGA 1156 Intel P55
    CPU  Intel  Core i7-870  2.93GHz LGA 1156

    O/S  Microsoft  GFC-00019  Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I'll appreciate any help that gets this resolved.

    Disable Indexing
Indexing is supposed to make it quick and easy to find things on your computer using Windows Search (that little box at the upper-right of Explorer windows).
But when you think about it, does it make sense to read all the files on your disk, extract everything you could possibly want to search for, and store it on that same disk another way?  To even consider indexing providing better performance than just searching the files, Microsoft must be picking and choosing the data they think you'll want to look for (excluding data you WON'T want to search for), where you'll want to search, and in what kinds of files, and in fact they are.  How could they know everything you'll ever want to search for?
They can't.  Not everything is indexed, and never will be!
Try this:  Create a simple text file on your disk, in a temporary folder.  Call it "FindMe.log" and put in the text "This file contains important tax information".  Now navigate to that folder with Explorer and enter the word "tax" into the Search box at the upper-right.  Enter any of the words in that file!  Windows Search will not find the file, because it simply does not LOOK in .log files by default, and there's no fallback strategy - Windows Search simply does not index nor search for information for some kinds of files. Incredible!
All it takes is ONE TIME searching for something you know is there and NOT finding it to destroy your confidence in Windows Search.
And so they scan through your files endlessly, pick out the strings you might someday search for, and store them in yet another set of files (the "index").  As though your computer has nothing better to do.
Not only is the basic premise of this wrong, but it's not even implemented very well.  The index often becomes corrupted, and so Microsoft has provided functions for you to clear and regenerate it.  Just what you wanted to be doing - NOT.
    Consider these shortcomings:
Some file types are simply not indexed or searched by default – e.g., .log files, and there's no fallback.  If you create a new file type no one's seen before, its contents will not be indexed.
Only strings they think you are likely to search for are indexed.
Because of poor implementation, indexing will miss things in some file types that are indexed – e.g., older Microsoft Word documents or files containing Unicode text (Microsoft's own invention).
Indexes often become corrupted and the Windows Search results fall out of date or it stops finding things entirely.
Indexing operations use computer time, increase disk wear, and interfere with your own access to your files.
In summary, indexed Windows Search operations in Windows 7 simply can't be trusted to find your data in your files when it's critical, and so they're essentially useless.  Searching for filenames using Windows Search actually can be occasionally useful (though the syntax to ensure it searches only filenames is a bit tricky), but this doesn't require indexing.
Moreover, indexing can actually interfere with file operations, causing your system to report disk corruption, because of an implementation error in indexing and NTFS (search the web for "Atomic Oplock", for example).
So indexing should simply and utterly be disabled.  This won't actually stop you being able to try Windows Search - on the contrary with indexing off Windows 7 will actually search your actual files (within the limitations listed above) just when you tell it to, and (since indexing isn't implemented very well) it may actually INCREASE the probability that you might find what you're looking for.
    Here's how to disable indexing:
Click Start and enter services in the search box.
When Services (with little gears) comes up, click it.
Scroll down to the Windows Search service.
Right click it and choose Properties.
Change the Startup type to Disabled.
Click [ Stop ] to stop the service.
    Click [ OK ].
Click Start and enter index in the search box.
When Indexing options comes up, click it.
    Click the Advanced button.
Click the [ Rebuild ] button to delete the index.
It is a good idea to reboot after this.
So your searches work properly and you're not nagged by Windows to reenable indexing:
    Open a Windows Explorer window.
    Choose Tools – Folder Options.
    Click the Search tab.
Click the button next to "Don't use the index when searching in file folders for system files (searches might take longer)".
Click Start and type group policy into the search box.
When Edit Group Policy comes up, click it.
Navigate to User Configuration – Administrative Templates – Windows Components – Windows Explorer.
Enable the Turn off Windows Libraries features that rely on indexed file data entry.
If you do not have the Group Policy Editor on your version of Windows, change this registry entry:
    HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
    DisableIndexedLibraryExperience = 1

I want to be able to use Photoshop features like being able to rotate the canvas, but I keep getting errors saying "Could not complete request because it only works with OpenGL enabled document windows."  But I have decent graphics cards which support OpenGL 3 and I have no problem using OpenGL in other programs.  Why can't I use it in Photoshop?

  • Enabler won't enable 802.11n

I am installing an Airport Extreme and upgrading 2 iMacs to 802.11n.
The first iMac went great - it shows that it is n-enabled.
The second iMac, newer and it is Core 2 Duo, won't n enable. I did all of the updates - I'm on 10.4.8 - and there are no error messages.
This is driving me nuts - what can I do.

I am determining that the n has not been enabled by launching Network Utility - Info - Network Interface (en1) shows 802.11 a/b/g. The other iMac is showing 802.11 a/b/g/n.
I ran the installer (the CD that came in the package. It shows that it is installing the Airport Extreme Update 2007-001 (I've also downloaded this separately and installed it alone).
The enabler will allow the 802.11n of the wireless network card to be usable. I need the range and hopefully speed boost that the 802.11n is supposed to deliver.
    Anybody else have any ideas????
    Thanks,
    Mitch

I Have had my iPhone 5s since feb and never had an issue, but just yesterday the finger print scanner stopped working... Went back in to enable and the options are greyed out.. When I click them to enable them it just says failed. Have restored and turned off loads!! Help!!!!

Try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release then wait for the phone to boot back up.

  • Mail and Notes won't enable in Mavericks

Ok so here's what happened. My "Send to iOS" in Maps wasn't showing up. So I followed the steps to get it to appear. I turned iCloud off and back on. After turning it back on I noticed my Mail and Notes were not activated.
    Mail tells me:
"Your iCloud Mail account could not be enabled.
    Try enabling Mail again."
    and Notes tells me:
"Notes can't be enables at this time.
Wait a moment and then try turning on Notes again."
Someone please help me figure this out. These two apps are a big part of my life.

Ok so don't ask me how, but they just started working this morning.

  • Is there any way to get ipad 2 mirroring (beta ios 5) to work with unicast?  The school won't enable multicast for traffic concerns on a many AP wireless network.

I have the iPad 2 mirroring working in my classroom with my own personal wireless router and an apple tv 2.  We would like to deploy several iPad 2's to teachers for instruction, all using mirroring.  The school district wireless network available throughout the complex has many access points and has multicasting turned off.  They are afraid to enable it because of traffic concerns - many wireless devices all sending everything to every AP on the district wireless network.  Is there any way to come up with an acceptable solution (unicasting?) that will only route traffic to the devices connected to a single access point on the network (the same one the ipad 2 and apple tv are connected to) without sending it to all the access points on the district wireless network?  Short of every teacher having an independent wireless router in each of their rooms (which could still potentially interfere with the district wireless), I don't currently have a solution.   I've heard the network guys through around terms like multicasting, unicasting, igmp, etc.  I don't want to choke down the district wireless either, but there must be a solution to this.  I could easily see 40 teachers in the complex all using iPad 2s mirroring through apple tvs attached to projectors all going on at the same time, but there might only be 3 or 4 on each access point.

  • Java won't enable in firefox web browser

I have tried everything possible I could find the fix this issue. I am trying to use the "live chat" feature on the website "car-part.com" in order to chat with auto recycling companies online, but it constantly says that java is not enabled in the web browser. I have gone through the settings and plugins with no luck. I even tried downloading java again from java.com and at the end of the download it states that "java content is disabled in web browsers". What is going on here?

Java and JavaScript are different languages.
    To avoid confusion, see:
There has been a change in the Java security settings, see:

If you visit a website regularly then a possible workaround is to add the URL to the Java Exceptions Site List, see:

  • Apple ID disabled? Now won't enable?

So, I've had this problem for about a year now. my credit card expired, or atleast that is what I was told, and suddenly I could no longer update my apps, sign into itunes because of it being disabled, and overall having an awful to god time. The store kept telling me that I needed to update my billing information because I needed to update apps. Well recently, I just got a new credit card. I've been doing everything in changing my payment. For some reason, no matter how hard I try, it still won't let me update anything. I've heard about deleting the account and recreating it. I've heard about hanging passwords and such. Everything I try, however, is an ultimate fail and frankly? I've been getting annoyed. Is there anything, aside from contacting the apple store itself and complaining? Or, am I doing something wrong here?

A couple of things to check first before I offer suggestions:
    - this is a true credit card you're attempting to use, yes?
    - this card was issued by a bank in the country whose iTunes Store you are using, and has its billing address there as well?
If both of those are true, and you're certain you're entering in the billing information exactly as it is on your credit card statement, go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store and request assistant (I'd suggest you do so politely, not just as a complaint).

  • Ipad messaging won't enable.

For the last week, out iPad (WiFi only) has refused to send or receive messages.
When you try it says "Cannot Send Message. iMessage needs to be enabled to send this message"
Similarly it has not received any messages and other devices trying to send to it are told it is not available.
    Switch to the Settings panel
Under iMessages it asks us to log in to our Apple ID, but when we try to do so, it just spins it's wheels for a while and then claims
"iMessage Activation Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
This is wrong as both Safari and Mail are working OK, there is a good WiFi connection.
We have reset the Apple ID password, so that is also OK.
    Any ideas how to fix

Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Flash Player won't enable in chrome

I have a HP 7 tablet that runs on the android operating system. Sometimes it says that flash player is not supported by my Android. However, I checked on adobe and it says that flash player is already pre-installed and I just need to enable it. So I tried typing chrome:plugins into the browser but each time I do it says this:
    This webpage is not available
The webpage at chrome://plugins/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
    Error 300 (net::ERR_INVALID_URL): Unknown error.
If anyone can offer a solution I'd gladly appreciate it. Thank you

Chrome://plugins is... wait for it... a local page. It's in your application.
If Chrome can't open it. you NEED to uninstall Chrome completely and reinstall it, because it's broken.
Additionally, there is no more Flash Player for Android. Hasn't been since June of 2012. If you're running and older Android device with version 1, 2, or 3, you can still get a Flash Player for it, and even for some of the earliest Android 4 builds here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
However, if you're running a device less than 20 months old, you'd have to "sideload" it, which is neither recommended nor supported by Adobe or Android, and in some cases it may void your warranty.
Android (Google) recommends using either "Dolphin" or "Puffin" as your browser if you need to view Flash content with a mobile device running Android. They're both free in the GooglePlay store. These browsers use "server side" rendering to reduce the load on your device.

  • Won't enable wireless on my iMac

    Hello everyone.
I have always used my ethernet cable from the beginning, so missing my wireless bar in the top right corner of my screen wasn't a problem.
Now my iMac is no longe within range of a cable and so i need to use my wireless.
however i cannot enable it. When in "network" i can only make a new network using "Ethernet" "Firewire" or "bluetooth"
i find this rather weird since an iMac by standarts should be able to use wireless, right?
do any of you have a solution to this problem?
    - Mikkel

Click on the Apple menu in the upper left hand corner, and choose about this Mac. Then choose "More Info", next choose Airport from the Network drop-down on the left hand side. If the system profiler comes up with "No Information Found." then your Airport Extreme card is not being recognized.
Did you custom configure your iMac, or is it a stock model?
