Opening a Dataform in SmartView

Hi,
I am using Hyperion version 11.1.1.3. When I am trying to open a dataform in Excel using SmartView I am getting the following error.
"Before You can open this form, you must select a member for the user variable Entity in Preferences."
I know how to set the user variables using Preferences in workspace but I dont know how to do it in smartview. Pls help me with this.

This dataform also needs redesign - user variables are currently not supported (as of 11.1.1.3) in Smartview.
When you find selection of page elements in Planning Webfrontend, you can test this combination in Smartview.
For testing purposes I usually start with an overview form for actual data:
- Columns : all Years, all Level 0 Periods
- Rows: all accounts that are loaded
- fixed point of view that uses top members that will alway show data

Dataform in smartview doesn't display attributes

Hello,
I have a data form where I have employees in my rows and an employee type attribute which appears next to them. Problem is I can only see attributes when I view dataform via workspace. If I access the dataform via smartview, I don't see the attributes. Is there a setting that I am meant to turn on? In workspace there's a setting called Enable custom attributes which can turned on to see the attributes. In Smartview there's no such setting.
Any help will be appreciated.

Opening web form in SmartView 11.1.2 - decimal formatting

I have a web form that consist of regular rows (accounts) and formula rows. The form is setup to display minimum 0 and maximum 2 decimal places for all cell types and this format is correct when I display the web form in Planning. However, when I open this web form through SmartView, these cell type precision does not retain. In fact, it always display round up whole number for regular rows and 2 decimal places for formula rows. Is this a default for SmartView? I am aware of the setting in Options > Formatting that allows me to change the decimal places, but it seems to apply to the entire grid instead of a particular row.
My client is very specific on their format and they want to open up the web form via SmartView. Ideally we want the format that shows up in Planning to be the same in SmartView. It will be greatly appreciated if anyone can shed some light whether this can be done or not.

Click on File>Preferences in the workspace and you get the preferences window. If you choose Planning from the left hand side, then navigate to the "Display Options" tab, you can change the "Allow Search When Number of Pages Exceeds:" setting to be a very high number (e.g. 99999999). Click OK and return to the form and you will be presented with a "normal" drop down list. Note this is a global setting for every form.

Opening web form in SmartView 11.1.2.103 - display name and alias

Hi,
Through some useful forum here, I have upgraded our SmartView, APS and Essbase to version 11.1.2.103 in order to display name and alias in SmartView. However, since I am very new to Hyperion overall, I am still exploring whether it is my limited knowledge with the product or if it's limitation of the product. My client wants to open up an existing web form in SmartView and shoe name and alias in separate columns. Is this possible? I have tried many combinations but I was only able to open up the form in SmartView having name and alias in single column. Any tips and tricks to achieve what I want will be greatly appreciated.

This is by design. There was strong customer feedback asking for the ability to show the POV in the first row and not have the POV toolbar on. This feedback came from longtime Essbase customers and partners. If you click the POV button this row gets hidden and you can use the toolbar just like you did in the past in Smart View (no loss of functionality). For Essbase the default is to show the POV on the sheet.
We have continued improvements planned but here are some of the key point that drove this change:
1 - Printing the POV - Having the POV on the sheet gives the user the ability to format and print using native Excel functionality.
2 - Flexible Freeform - With the POV on the sheet the user can easily change their POV or the grid orientation by typing or using native Excel formulas, list features, or VBA.
3 - Ability to copy grids from one sheet to another with no loss of the POV. Simply copy and paste.

Opening Financal Books in Smartview or other tool?

I am not sure if I can accomplish this using smartview we are on a System 11.1.1.2 using planning for actual and budget. I am wanting to be able to open a book in excel and parse out each department into their own excel file, I have about 150 departments and I need to send each department their own P&L. Is this possible in Smartview or what would be the most efficient way to accomplish this task?

sorry, I was thinking of smart view retrieves not FR reports. In Smart View you can't run books (an enhancement I've asked for) jsut reports. But you could run a report and have the pages put to separate tabes. Or you could create the report using a Smart View grid and cascade it

Dataforms using smart view

Hi All,
I m having a problem with smart view.Few dataforms don't open peoperly.I saw one of your posts saying if i use DTS in column level i will not be able to open that dataform.I have exactly done the same thing,I have used Y-T-D in column level.As per my requirement i had to use it in column level rather than page level.
Is there any other way to open the dataform in smartview excel sheet?

If a data form has Dynamic Time Series members displayed in the columns or rows, when the form is opened in Smart View an invalid form message is received. If the Dynamic Time Series members are in the Page dimension, the data form opens without an error. (8557012)

Error While Opening dataform after creating Planning Unit Hierarchy

I created a Planning Application through classic wizard. Then i created a planning unit hierarchy, after which I am getting the following error: (when i try to open a dataform, from some user other than admin/owner)
*"Security and/or filtering has resulted in a required dimension not being represented on this data form"*
I know that this error occurs when some dimension members are represented on dataform but are not assigned with security rights. But thats not the problem in my case. Because I assign security rights to all members of all dimension just for the sake of testing. I later on identifed that this error occurs due to dimensions present in POV i.e. I need to select a single member of each POV dimensions, then in such case this error disappears.
Now my question is that why i need to select a single member from each POV dimension? I general i leave POV dimensions as it is, while creating dataform
Right now i aad a dummy member at the top of each dimension, e.g Account_UnSpecified, Entity_UnSpecified and so on . . . and then i select this member from each of POV dimension.

You can try creating new Root folder and new workspace for your NWDS.
1. Create a new folder with name ' <userID>_NWDS_NEW_ROOT ' in your machine
2. Create a new folder with name ' <userID>_NWDS_NEW_WORKSPACE ' in your machine
3. Open NWDS (and logon to DTR)
4. Remove all configurations from your Development Configuration perspective (except 'Local Development')
5. Go to Window --> Preferences --> Java Development Infra --> Development Configurations
6. Change 'Root Folder' to the folder created in step-1
7. Close NWDS
8. Create ' Run_NWDS.bat ' file in your NWDS installation folder which has 'SapIde.exe' file
(it will be generally in --> C:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse)
9. Type following in .bat file -->
SapIde.exe -data "<complete path to folder created in step-2>"
10. Now double click on this .bat file to open NWDS
Now logon to DTR, import configuration, create project from 'inactive DCs' and you should be able to create project and see it in respective perspective.

DataForms Columns not appearing in SmartView

Hi All,
I created some webforms on EPMA Planning App 11.1.2.3. When I try to open these webforms using Smartview, I am getting this error " There are no Valid Columns of Data for this form". But I can open these forms in Planning Console.
Is this a bug? Please help.

Suppress rows/Columns is used to suppress the missing rows/columns (yes thats what it does )
So when you get that error it means there is no data for the intersection you are trying to open.

Error opening Dataform in Planning 11.1.1.3

When i try to open the dataform as admin it is working fine,but if i logged in as a planner having access to the webform it is throwing error
"The data form Test is invalid.Check log for details."
The securities ae fine and user have access for the data form.

Smartview 11.1.1.3 Accessing Oracle Essbase

Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.2 Application created. I have created several data forms. Able to open data forms via SmartView, and data is correct. Interested in Essbase connection to use Ad-Hoc reporting. I make the connection to Oracle Essbase and drill down to the application databases. I select Balance Sheet application and the POV window pops up. I am able to use member select to identify the members for my report. When all have been selected, I hit refresh, but no data appears. I am using the Admin login to perform these steps. Is there a step missing or security setting required. On my data form for the Balance Sheet, I am able to see all the data.

The first thing I would check would possibly be the "Navigate without data" option. If it's enabled, disabling it might make a difference.

Menus in Smartview

Hi guys,
We have some right click menus in forms that run several business rules, open reports, and instruction documents. All of these work fine when i go through workspace or through planning. But, we are not able to open the reports and instruction documents in smartview. I have used right click menus a lot before but never for reports and instructions documents in smart view so i do know not if this is supported in 9.3.1 or if there is any setting i am missing which is causing the issue.
We get an Authentication error when we open the reports from smartview planning right click menu.
Any help in this regard would be great.

Pull Multiple reports for smartview in excel

Hello,
I am very new at VBA and smartview. I was hoping if someone knows of a way to open multiple reports from smartview into excel using VBA. I believe smartview itself does not allow to open multiple reports because of POV settings. Thanks for the help in advance.

I am talking about automating a way to pull multiple financial reports in excel. At first I was running into an issue where some of my reports that I pulled from Reporting and anlysis framework, they would not open in the proper excel workbook and it would break the link so I would not be able to refresh. Next time I would have to reopen all the reports, that's why I was hoping there would be a VBA code to automated pulling multiple financial reports (not grids). I hope I am making sense. Can I hide data forms from users in Smartview?

I thought the "Allow offline usage" option was what controlled whether or not a form could be accessed in Smartview, but I appear to be wrong. Is there a way to limit the forms that users can see in the Open Forms option in Smartview?
We have a small set of forms we are thinking of allowing users to use Smartview to enter data in, but do not want to have them all visible. I can't find this topic in the documentation or in any of the other posts.

Go to Display Properties and check the box "Make data form hidden". Before that you could export the form to Excel as a Smart View worksheet and keep that for distribution to your users.

Using Smartviewer in Domain using Windows 7 client

Using a standard user account, how would I set it to open a specific program (SmartViewer) which requires a domain admin username and password to open
on launch. I cant give the account admin rights nor can I turn off UAC for it either. Is there anyway of getting it so this program opens without the admin prompt?

There is a work around using "runas " to create a shortcut may be useful ,but we need to input the password for the first time to open the shortcut and it will save the administrator acccounts in the local machine and it may result-in security
issue .Please be careful to do this .

Linking excel data into Smartview

Our users have data in multiple tabs that is currently linked into one master worksheet.We have a Planning webform that is setup the same way and needs to be rolled out as an input template. If a user opens the webform from smartview, is there a way to link data from these different tabs or do they have to update the links everytime they open the form?

p.s. why would you want to dissassociate your rows of data in excel into seperate rows, such that they lose the information about which was "product1", "product2" etc.
