Opening Bex Analyzer in Webgui using NetWeaver Webdynpro

I have a Netweaver Webdynpro(Java) application which stores Transactions as favorite URLs (eg: SE37, SE38, RRMX..). When user clicks on the favorites link, the application supplies the URL to the transaction by appending the System , host details and the transaction opens up in a webgui.
This works for all transactions except <b>RRMX</b> for <b>Business Explorer Analyzer</b>(Bex Analyzer). For Bex Analyzer, the SAP WebGui opens up, but the Bex Analyzer does not open up. The message displayed is "<b>Please install suitable Excel version."</b>
Does anyone know what is missing?

Ok.. I have to add this. The BEX ANALYZER works in the same scenario for another link defined on Portal. So, the problem is not with the Excel/Office installation.
The only difference is that the link which works correctly on the portal : uses an Transaction Iview whose SAPGUI type <b>WinGui</b>.
Where as the application which we built forms a Url with the transaction code. So, when user clicks on the URL,  what happens is the <b>Transaction</b> opens up in the <b>WebGui</b> mode. This is the main difference.
And, we have a whole list of transactions which needs to be opened and it would not be feasible to make seperate transaction iviews for each transaction. Currently, we are thinking of calling this already configured <b>Transaction Iview</b> for only the RRMX transactions. But, we are stuck trying to launch this transaction iview from WebDynpro.
Reason: The window closes after launching the Bexanalyser and we are unable to get the URL of this window before it closes. How do we read this PCD information from WebDynpro to get to launch this Transaction iview for RRMX?

  • Message when opening BEx Analyzer after an upgrade to 3.5

When I open BEx Analyzer after an upgrade to 3.5, I get a message:
Internal Error when generating the history.  Use a different view
Is this because it is the first time I am logging onto BEx after the upgrade or is this an issue? Thanks

    Niten,
As A.H.P suggested what version of BW did you upgrade from ? and what version of SAPGUI are you using - try and reinstall SAPGUI or install SAPGUI6.40 final.
Also please give your front end support pack levels. This could also be due to a front end SP issue.
Some other things that could help would be :
Were there any problems / issues when upgrading ?

  • Problem-taking a long time to open Bex Analyzer

We upgraded from BW 3.1 to BI 7.0 SP9, Front End SP 9, Patch 3, Revision 370 and have a problem when we try to access Bex Analyzer.  The response time is very poor. It can take as long as 3 minutes (or longer) for Bex Analyzer to open after we click on the Bex Analyzer option.  When we were on BI 7.0, Front End SP 7, the response time was better but since upgrading to FEP 9, the time to open Bex Analyzer from our PCs is very long. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how was it resolved? Thanks

  • Problem opening BEx Analyzer Workbook (saved in Excel 2007) in Excel 2003!!

    Dear all:
I know there are threads about this issue and numerous support tickets have been provided, but we still can't get any Excel 2007 Query to be opened by Excel 2003.
I have tried to save Excel 2007 BEx Analyzer Query into 97-2003 XLS format. But when we reopened (by both Excel 03 and 07), it prompted the warning messages and broke down the query workbook into several sheets with scrambled data. What am I missing here...? According to the support ticket, it seemed pretty straightforward just by saving the format to 2003 XLS, but in reality it just doesn't work as "advertised"
    Thank you...!!!
    Brian

I have the solution for this.
    It works to my environment.
    Follow the steps :
    1. you must open the xlsx workbook from Bex Analyzer.
    2. Save As workbook locally to your PC for excel 97-2003
(Not "save as" from bex Toolbar but from      excel)
    3. Now save that workbook with Save As->Workbook from Bex Toolbar into your BI database.
Now go to detail properties of your workbook and there you can see the format xls for your workbook.
    Good Luck

  • BEX Analyzer 7.0 - Use the content of an excel cell as an input value

    Hi all,
Is it possible to use the content of an excel cell as an input value for a bex variavel?
    Iu2019m using bex analyzer 7.0.
    Thanks in advance,
    Cátia Coelho Silva

    Hi Catia,
Yes it is possible to import values from exel. But this will gives you "INCORRECT INPUT PARAMATERS"..
So it is still best to use "Notepad" as your import file type.
Just copy your input parameters on the notepad then upload it via 'import text file'.
Please be sure to use Multiple selection type variable.

    Hi Arnab,
Check is it happening for all users?
Check the auth object S_RFC, do you have this object in your authorization? check the online doc on authorization, to find which values to set for this object.
Hopefully, it might solve your issue.

But I always access via market place (which is exactly the same steps of SAP notes):

  • Bex analyzer variable screen input ready?

    Hi Experts,
If we open a query in the Bex analyzer (BI 7.0 – netweaver 2004s), it seems only possible for us to enter variables in the dialog screen after the pushbuttons Ctrl + K for each variable.  Is it possible to change the default setting in the BEx analyser variable screen, so that the variables are ready for input (without the ctrl + k)?
In the SAPhelp information, only the following information is provided.
    Prerequisites
In the BEx Analyzer, you have executed a query that contains variables and you want to change or personalize one or all of the variables in the query.
    Procedure
    1.      In the analysis toolbar, choose Change Variable Values or in the menu, choose BEx Analyzer ® Change Variable Values.
The Select Values for Variables dialog box appears. Follow the instructions to select a value to assign to the variable.
    2.      Specify a variant name and values for the variables for which you want to change the current values.
Switch to display mode or use the pushbuttons Ctrl + K to enter values.
    Kind regards
    Dennis

    Hello All,
We have a similar issue only in 2004s query designer when we execute a query via the web. We have the variable set up to accept multiple single values and we can pick multiple single values and add them, however, we cannot paste a list of, for example, personnel numbers from an excel spreadsheet into the web selection box to add multiple single values at one time.  Does this functionality exist?

  • Error when launching BEx analyzer from Portals

    BI Gurus...
We are working on an initiative to migrate our user interface from SAP GUI to Enterprise Portal.
Bex Analyzer is primary mode of reporting at this time.
After importing the Roles into EP, I am able to execute the web queries successfully, in the BEx Wen analyzer. But, I get an error when I click on any of the excel workbooks. Our expectation was that once we click on the excel workbook name, the BEx analyzer will launch from EP. But it seems like the issue is with launching BEx Analyzer from BI Portal.
Has anyone faced this issue before?
Is it possible to launch BEx Analyzer from EP?
Are their some key portal settings we have missed out on to enable launching BEx analyzer from EP?
    Please provide your thoughts/experience.
    Thanks,
    Ajay.

    Hi WernerS,
    Thanks for your response.
The RRMXP Transaction works and it launching the BEx Analyzer as expected.
Now, as per our research, I think there are 2 ways of launching BEx analyzer from BI Portals.
    1) Call via a URL
You can call BEx Analyzer via the following URL: http(s)://<server:port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/rsr_bex_launch/bexanalyzerportalwrapper.htm
You can modify the URL to open BEx Analyzer with either a workbook, a query or a query view. You can use the following parameters to do this:
    ●      Parameter to open the workbook: ?WBID=<wb_id>
I have tried calling via URL iView, but instead of launching the BEx Analyzer, it just throws a dialog box to "save" or "open" a file, RRMX.bex. When I try to open this file, it says "Invalid File Format".
I tried opening the file in notepad and I see the following parameters passed.
               test
               Data=BX2,CONAJP,EN,mikoyan,17,,,250,
               9
Any clue about what I am doing wrong?
    2) Calling via a Transaction
You can generate BEx Analyzer in Portal Content Studio as an SAP Transaction iView.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.app integrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction Code (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
    ●      The Transaction Code for all workbooks is RRMXP.
    ●      The ApplicationParameter property contains the value WBID=<WORKBOOK_ID>.
I have tried this approach as well. When I open this iView, I see the RRMXP transaction in the Internet explorer, but the workbooks still does not open in the BEx Analyzer (Excel)
Any thoughts on where am I going wrong ?
    Thanks,
    Ajay.

  • Add own VBA Addin (.xla) to BEx Analyzer

    Hi,
I created an XLA add-in, which I activated in my Office Excel. When opening Excel my add-in works fine (I can see it in my VB-Editor below BExAnalyzer.xla and it is possiblöe to use the makros.
Unfortunately this add-in is not aktivated when opening BEx Analyzer. In this case the new add-in is not listed below the BExAnalyzer.xla, whereas it is marked to be active at the office options Special / Add-ins (extras / Add-dins in german office version).
    Office 2003
    BEx Front End Patch 501
Does anybody know, how to implement own xla add-ins to BEx Analyzer?
    Best Regards,
    Helge

I guess it's because of the way the BExAnalyzer loads Excel - it's an OLE call or something alike. In other words Analyzer loads BEx addin alone. I see two possible workarounds.
One is to find some command line parameter for BExAnalyzer.exe to make it load the addin you want. The problem is I do not know if there are any such parameters.
The other way is to load the addin after the BExAnalyzer.xla is loaded. You can easily check this way by opening your addin manually. However, doing it programmatically becomes a problem since the only piece of VBA code loaded is BExAnalyzer.xla itself. Therefore you have to modify BExAnalyzer.xla to load the stuff you want when it's opened by BExAnalyzer.exe. But it may be (and I'm sure it is) prohibited by the license agreement and by the way you will lose this file's digital signature trying to save the modified BEx addin (don't hesitate to make the backup first).
This is the code to insert to ThisWorkbook module of BExAnalyzer.xla if you dare:
    Private Sub Workbook_Open()
        On Error Resume Next
            Application.Workbooks("YourAddin.xla").Saved = Application.Workbooks("YourAddin.xla").Saved
' If YourAddin.xla addin is not loaded (and we get an error in the line above), then open it
' and run addin automacros because the event doesn't fire when opening addin this way:
            If Err.Number = 9 Then
                Application.Workbooks.Open(Application.UserLibraryPath & "YourAddin.xla").RunAutoMacros (xlAutoOpen)
        On Error GoTo 0
    End Sub
The YourAddin.xla is supposed to be in standard addin folder (%AppData%\Microsoft\AddIns)
