Opening Cr2 file made with Canon g11 in Elements 7

Recently I purchased a G11. Elements 7 won't open the raw files created with that camera. I get an error message saying wrong type of file.
Elements 7 opens cr2 files made with my Canon Rebel (3 years old)
Ideas?

Download and install the Camera Raw 5.6 update:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4626

  • HT202879 How can I open a file made with old version of Pages (before 09)?

I need to open a file made with old version of Pages (before 09).  How can I do this?  I only have iworks Pages free with Mac Book Pro.

You need either Pages '09 or the original Pages '08? programs.
With Pages '09 you simply open it and it accurate converts it to Pages '09. Pages 5 will open the Pages '09 version but may alter/damage the file.
With Pages '08 you Export it to Word .doc/.docx with mixed results, then open that in Pages 5 which may alter/damage the file.

  • RAW CR2 files from my Canon G11 not displaying thumbnails in SL finder. Why

I just loaded some CR2 RAW files from my Canon G11 last night. They displayed perfectly in iPhoto 09 but when I opened the folder the image files are in SL's finder I got icon placeholders which but no image icon display. I have loaded all the latest updates... Is SL no yet compatible with G11 RAW Cr2 files? Or do I not have something set up correctly as of yet?

    HI,
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file: com.apple.QuickLookDaemon.plist file to the Trash and restart your Mac.

  • Cant open a file made with older aftereffects

i just downloaded this file from the internet it is a aftereffects template. i downloaded the aep file and tried opening with AE cs6. it said that it cant open cuz its made with a old version of AE. I am pretty sure that it should have backwards compatibility, i mean i would understand if CS4 cant open CS6 file. but if CS6 cant open CS4 file that's weird, and i am really confused.

Are you sure the file is CS4 and not AE4. CS6, according to the documentation CS6 can open AE7 and newer files.
The file could also be corrupted.

  • Is there a way to open/edit files made with Microsoft Publisher on my new Mac?

I recently upgraded to a Mac from a Dell and I have documents that I made with Microsoft Word and Publisher that I still need to be able to use with my Mac but I can't figure out how to open them with it. Is there a program that I need to download?

Word documents from your PC will open directly in Word for the Mac. If you have the ability to save your Publisher documents from the PC in PDF format, they can be converted from PDF to Word format and emailed back to you by this web site, free of charge:
    http://www.pdftoword.com/
Note that not all features of the resulting Word files will be as completely editable as they were in Publisher, but they should look pretty much the same and open easily on the Mac.

  • I cannot open raw file shot with canon 20d. I get an error message.

I recently used a 50d camera and shot in raw +jpeg. Downloaded into computer. Was able to view jpeg but was unable to view raw version. At first I attributed this to needing software update for 50d. I brought up a raw file taken with a 20d and the same error message appeared. I could open a 20d file before. This morning I tried again.I did open a 20d file.I tried a 50d file and the error message appeared. Went back to 20d file and the error message appeared saying it cannot open file.I am less than a novice. I purchased elements 6 a year ago and am just starting to try to use it. Are there updates that I need to do .

Further to my above reply, I have just discovered this on the web:
Why Adobe doesn't touch proprietary raw files
Touching the bits of raw image formats that aren't publicly documented well (or at all) seems like a bad idea, bound to end in tears. Microsoft is advising customers not to edit metadata using Vista, saying,
Microsoft has received reports of compatibility issues with Nikon NEF files after installing version 1.0 of Nikon's raw codec posted in January. Tagging the raw files through Windows Vista or the Microsoft Photo Info tool after the codec is installed appears to cause these files to become unreadable in other applications, such as Adobe Photoshop. I'm sure the problem will get sorted out soon enough, but it does illustrate why Camera Raw and Lightroom insist on using sidecar data files for raw formats other than DNG. It's less convenient, but we've seen far too many conflicts arise from touching metadata in these other formats. DNG was designed with flexible internal storage of metadata in mind, and now Lightroom and Bridge offer conversion to DNG as part of their photo-import processes. (For what it's worth, on my MacBook Pro, converting an 8MP CR2 file to DNG takes roughly 1-1.5 seconds--not a bad price for portability & reduced file size.)

You will note this this was posed on Feb 12th 2007 and that it appears to still be an issue. Oh dear.
Sure would be nice to see the link to where you got this.
This refers to problems using Microsoft software and Vista, not Adobe software and Vista. I believe it is saying that Adobe properly handles both .nef and .dng files. I have no idea how this quote relates to this thread at all.

  • Can not open CR2 files from a Canon 600D in PSE

    Hi
Ok i will put my hand up and say i am very new to PSE, I have updated the software and have the latest camera raw plug in, but for some reason i can not open the raw files created by my 600D.
Can anyone help, or am i going to have to convert them.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but i couldn't find any posts
    Chris

The 600D should be supported in ACR 6.4 which is currently in beta so you'll have to wait until it's released, probably within days or weeks, for native support within Elements.
While you're waiting, you can download the beta version of the DNG Converter 6.4 from Adobe Labs and use that to convert your CR2 files to DNGs which will open in older versions of Camera RAW.
    http://labs.adobe.com/
Follow the Camera RAW 6.4 RC link and eventually you'll get a link to download the DNG Converter 6.4 RC.
The Camera RAW 6.4 RC installer will only run if you have Photoshop, not Elements, so you can't use that, yet, but you can use the DNG Converter.
Because the DNG Converter and Camera RAW 6.4 are in beta status there could be differences in how the RAW photos look compared to when you get the released version of ACR 6.4 but probably not too much difference.

  • Will PSE 13 open CR2 Files from my Canon 7D?

I've just upgraded my camera from a 550d to a 7D Mk II and the new CR2 files will not open in PSE 10.  Before I upgrade to PSE13 I want to check that the files will open.  Any advise gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Bob

    Hi,
    Yes, well it reads mine.
You can always check it out by downloading the trial version from here
    https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-downloads.html
Once you have downloaded and installed PSE 13, you will need to go to the Help menu and select Updates as you will need the camera raw to be updated.

  • XML files from CR2 files shot with Canon 7D do not save???

I opened a bunch of images shot with a Canon 7D through the Raw Processor in Bridge CS5. AFter making adjustments I clicked the "Done" button thinking the XML files would be upgraded. Nothing happens. What am I doing wrong. With all my other files this works perfectly.

everyone that is having this problem I think I have solved it.
Short quick answer so you dont have to read further. Check your date/time setting on your camera, it's probably wrong.
    Longer version:
I too have a Canon 7D and the other day I had taken some pictures of my son with santa and was experiencing the same problem.  I could edit in camera raw, but the changes would not save. I would not get the little icon next to the image either.Every other image worked fine except for the ones I took that day.  I was chalking it up to maybe a bad import of the images and maybe somethign was corrupting. but I was still able to open them and edit and save psd's so I wasnt too worried yet.
Today we went out and took some images of holiday lights and I came home downloaded the images and the same issue happened again. I went back to the santa pictures and I could edit them and the changes were saving now. So I googled and came across this post. Once I saw you too were having the same problem but it went away the next day, and another person was only having a issue with one camera I figured it had to be a setting in the camera.
And since the problem goes away with time I decided to check my time on my camera and it was set to 12/22 (today is 12/21). So I corrected the time took a test shot and downloaded it to the computer and it works perfectly again.
    Hope this helps!

  • Had to reload cs3 to my laptop. now I can not open cr2 files from my canon d50

I think I am thick. I have tried a number of ways but to no avail. I need a step by step tutorial.

It sounds like you put the zip folder into
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
Go to the above folder and move everything out of that folder onto your desktop, then right click on the Camera_Raw_4_6.zip
    and choose Extract All.
Then when the Extract dialog comes up check Show extracted files when complete
Then in the next dialog that comes up, right click on the Camera Raw .8bi and choose Copy
    Then go to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
and right click in an empty space and choose Paste
Now hopefully when you start or restart photoshop cs3, your files will open.

  • How do I download plugin or just open RAW files?. Canon 650D and elements 10

How do I download raw files in elements 10. PSE10 says I have Adobe camera raw plugin but nothing happens.

Every camera model has its own raw format. The 650D requires at least ACR 7.1, which in turn means you need at least PSE 11.
You can upgrade PSE, or you can us the canon software to convert your files and only use PSE for additional editing, or you can download the free adobe DNG converter and use that to make DNG files that your version of ACR can understand.

  • How to open CR2 files in photoshop elements 10

Who knows how to open CR2-files from a Canon Powershot S100 in Photoshop Elements 10?

    Hi,
The version of Camera Raw that you reported should support the S100 CR2 images.
If you load the editor, go to the File menu and select Open, then point to the file, are you saying that it displays the error message?
Have you tried opening the file with Canon's Zoombrowser?
Which operating system are you running on?

  • Opening CR2 files in Mac 10.6.8

Hi. I just downloaded Adobe DNG Converter 6.7 trying to open CR2 files(shot with G15).  But it doesn't recognize(grey/can't click) CR2 files.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8.  What's confusing is that I can open CR2 files that are in my computer with Photoshop CS4 that I have.  And the CS4 can open most other RAW files.
    I'd appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

The G15 requires ACR 7.3 (thus DNG converter 7.3) according to this list
