Opening CS4 32bit  from Lightroom 2 64 bit

I am using Lightroom 2.6 64bit on a Windows 7 64bit PC. I have both 32 & 64 bit versions of Photoshop CS4 installed. I need to use the 32 bit version of CS4 as I have plugins that will not work in the 64 bit version. When I try to open a file for editing from Lightroom it automatically opens in the 64 bit version. I would like to know if there is a way to enable Lightroom to open the files in CS4 32 bit version by default. Thanks to anyone who may be able to help. A Merry Christmas to one and all.

Hi Hal,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I tried it and it worked. Someone else suggested setting the 32bit CS4 as the secondary editor but I have not tried it.

  • Can photoshop CC open raw files from Lightroom 5?

Trying to open raw files from Lightroom 5 in Photoshop CC 2014, with no luck.
    Anyone?

Problems are as follows— all versions are current.
    1. When in Lightroom, trying to open a photo in Photoshop,-- choosing Photo>Edit in Photoshop CC 2014— Photoshop opens but no photo appears. The only time a photo opens is if it is a JPEG… CR2 does not open, dng does not open
    2. When trying to open a JPEG in Photoshop, dialog box opens offering choice between "Edit Original", "Edit a copy", or "Edit with Lightroom adjustments", Only choosing “Edit Original” allows photo to open.
    3. When in Photoshop choosing “Browse in Bridge” does not open Bridge… opens CC app and prompts me to install another version of Bridge, or keep version I have.  (See attached screenshot) Either way it’s a malfunction… as I said earlier all versions are leanest.
    PLEASE HELP!!

  • Photoshop 2014 will not open an image from Lightroom 5.5

When I 'right click' on an image in LR 5.5 and select the option to Edit in Photoshop 2014 - Photoshop will open but nothing else happens.  If I select open as Smart Object then there is no problem.  This has only happened since the Creative Cloud Updated Lightroom and Photoshop, I have already had to remove and re-install Lightroom because it wouldn't let me use the Develop Module.  Is there anyone with a similar problem or can you help me.

  • Problems with files opened in Photoshop from Lightroom

    Hi,
I started editing a large number of files recently and came upon strange problems when sending files to Photoshop from Lightroom:
    1. Sometimes, all edits will be transferred to Photoshop except for the Lens Profile Correction. I tried clearing all changes and starting again, and it didn't work. However, if Lens Profile Correction is the ONLY change I make in Lightroom, it is correctly shown when the file is opened in Photoshop. [EDIT: I thought it was only the Lens Profile Correction, but with some files it appears other edits are disappearing too, such as cropping.]
    2. Sometimes, and I can't seem to find any pattern for this, files I sent to Photoshop will open as only "slices" of images. In fact, there is only one sliver of the image that gets opened. Sometimes it is a vertical line, sometimes a horizontal line, usually about 1/20 as thick as it is long. For that problem, I haven't found a solution yet.
I am using the latest versions of Lightroom, Photoshop and Camera Raw, with RAW files created with a Nikon D7000 camera, on an iMac from 2011. I have no software or hardware problems apart from this.
    Here's hoping someone can help.
    Thanks!

  • Opening RAW File from Lightroom is automatically saving a PSD or TIFF. How to turn this off?

I recently upgraded to LightroomCC and Photoshop CC however now when I go to open my RAW files from lightroom it is automatically saving a PSD copy when the file is opened.  I don't want it to do that because I don't need those files - for some of my stuff I just need to open the file, edit, and save a jpg when done.  This was not a feature on the older version of Lightroom and I can't find any place to turn this off.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Opening into ACR from Lightroom

I have downloaded the recent ACR 7 plguin for CS6.  From Bridge I can open my faw files and the automatically open into ACR before photoshop.  But can I do this from Lightroom?  I know I can right click, get a drop down menu, and choose edit in photoshop, but at this point I would assume it would open up the ACR editor, but doesn't happen.  what am I missing?

As far as raw conversion is concerned, you accomplish nothing by going from Lightroom to ACR because the controls are the same.  Photoshop uses ACR to interpret the Lightroom adjustments.  But, theoretically, that is all ACR is needed for in the transition from Lightroom to Photoshop.  However, there is an option in Lightroom that allows you to open an image as a smart object.  Or, once in Photoshop, you can convert an image to a smart object.  Then, from Photoshop, you can open the image in ACR to make further adjustments if necessary.

  • I cannot open files directly from Lightroom 4 into Photoshop CS5.

I recently changed to new Macbook Pro and uploaded my Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS5.
Now when I go to 'Photo - Edit in - Photoshop' in Lightroom 4. Photoshop opens. But no image appears.
I've updated the Camera Raw reader but this hasn't helped.
Anyone got a suggestion that might help?
I have been making attempts to download updates for my Photoshop PS5 but after 4 attempts I get the same failed window asking me to try later.
    Anyone any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

It is important to understand how Lr works.
Lr displays photos only when they are imported into Lr. A (seeming) exception is for a Raw image that is edited in Photoshop and <Saved> to the default settings that you selected in external editing of Preferences in Lr. So if the default setting is for PSD and you just hit <Save> in Photoshop, a PSD will be created and automatically imported back into Lr so that it will be displayed there. So, this is not really an exception from the rule that an image has to be imported into Lr - it is an automatic import. This automatic import works only for the <Save> to the default settings;it does not work when you do a <Save As> and select a different file format than the default setting. In your case you did a <Save as> to create a JPG. This JPG will not be automatically imported into Lr, you have to import it manually - either through the Import Dialog or by <Synchronize Folder>.
Apart from that, and as JimHess said, why do you create a JPG in Photoshop from the same file? If you need a JPG, in Lr just export your PSD as a JPG when you need it.
I often need JPGs from my file, but I create them only when needed by exporting them to a folder of my choice. Usually I delete them after a while. I don't see a reason why I should have JPGs sitting around on my hard drive(s). They can be created again (from the Raw files or from PSD's/Tiffs) if the need arises.

  • From CS2 to CS4 and from 32-bit to 64-bit

This might make some of you laugh but i upgraded from Ps CS2 full version which is 32-bit to CS4 and i want to install my upgrade CS4 on a new Vista 64-bit system. Will this enable my upgrade to run as 64-bit? Or do i have to buy the full version of CS4 in order to have it run as 64-bit?

Personally,I don't think is a strange question, mainly because I will be in the same position soon. If I understand correctly, you are concerned that you wont be able to install CS4 64bit if you have to install CS2 first. Is that correct?
If so, I'm in the same boat. I assume that it will be possible as it is possible to run CS2 in 64bit mode.

  • CS3 wont open .psd files from Lightroom

I am working on a Mac in Lightroom 2.6, when I use the keyboard shortcut for open or toggle a file to open in CS3, the menus open alongside of the CS3 window but the images itself is not opening.  I attempted to use the selection edit in CS3 without success also.  I am able to use the selection edit in Photoshop Elements and the image opens in Photoshop Elements and I am unable to get the files/images to open in CS3.  I might have struck an errant key at some time.  I am about to pull what little hair I have left out.  If anyone has the cure or remedy, it will save me from being bald thanks

Right-click on the psd in LR and select 'Edit in PHotoshop'.That will open it in Photoshop with its current filename or a new filename with Edit added to the end, with or without any LR edits you may have added to it.

  • Photoshop CS5 unable to open for edits from Lightroom 3

Have been experiencing numerous issue with the new LR and Photoshop not playing nice with each other on my Mac Pro w/10.6. Photoshop CS5 is will open in 1 attempt out of 8, and won't open from LR for editing purposes (it did once). Have been using in 32 bit mode to accommodate NIK and Topaz filters. I have reinstalled three times so far. Anyone got any ideas?

Try deleting the prefs folder for Photoshop. Mine was doing something like this where it would not open the image inside
of CS5 when you right click on the image and try an "open with". But it would work from the menu, most of the time. The cost is having to recreate custom settings inside Photoshop but since my CS5 was a new install as was LR3, it did not matter to me. It did require a reboot for the new preference file to fully take effect.
    From Adobe's own workaround
    5. Re-create the Photoshop preferences files.
Re-create the Photoshop preferences file to eliminate problems that a damaged preferences file might cause.
Note: Re-creating the Photoshop preferences file restores settings to their defaults.
To re-create the Photoshop preferences file:
    Quit Photoshop.
    Rename the Users\[username]\Library\Preferences\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.psp folder to Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.old.
Start Photoshop. Photoshop creates a new Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.psp file.
If the problem continues, then the Photoshop preferences file isn't the cause. To restore custom settings, quit Photoshop, then delete the new Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.psp file and restore the original name of the previous Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.psp

  • After a recent upgrade I am no longer able to open NEF files from Lightroom to Photoshop

I receive the error: The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS6 could not be launched. After the error, LR creates a tif file and that does open up in PS. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PS and LR but the error comes back. I am running LR 5.7 and PS CS6 both with ACR 8.7. I have seen numerous posts on this issue but I have not found any resolution.

  • How to open PSD files from lightroom

What's the easiest way to open a photo that was edited in LR and then passed to PS-CS3 and saved back to LR as a PSD. I can view the PSD photo in LR but then what's the quickest way to reopen it in PS to let's say make some more changes? Thanks.

Right-click on the psd in LR and select 'Edit in PHotoshop'.That will open it in Photoshop with its current filename or a new filename with Edit added to the end, with or without any LR edits you may have added to it.
