Opening files through network location is not working in Office 2013

Dear Colleagues!
We have faced the following problem. On our Windows 7 Professional computers were installed Office 2013 Standard. softwares.  As before we have defined network locations.  After the step into the folder through the dfined network location
the Word and Excel do not open the files and the base Office 2013 screen appears with the icons. If we define a shortcut onto the desktop of the computer the same way and step into this folder through the mentioned shortcut the Word and Excel 2013 opens
the files. For Exemple a pdf file opens in Acrobat Reader through the dfined network location and through the mentioned shorcut as well. It would be important to solve the file handling through network locations too.

As per the description, I understand that your Office 2013 cannot open files through a network share directly.
I would like to know that how many clients/users are affected by this in your environment. It could be some specific user account settings, that the Office applications are being affected by.
I'd first suggest you try with a new Windows user profile, then verify result.

    Hi Mohit
    CR 8.5, being about 15 years old, does not support Windows 7. I am surprised this works for you with MS Office 2010 and to be honest, I'd consider my self lucky there. The fact that is does not work with office 2013... well, like I said, lucky with Office 2010 and your luck ran out with Office 2013.
    Your option; rewrite the app in VS 2010 / 2012 / 2013 and use the CR Assemblies for VS .NET from SAP Crystal Reports, Developer Version for Visual Studio .NET. The CR Java SDK would be another option.

  • Excel 2013 won't open file from network location

    I have recently installed Office 2013 on several computers. Excel will not open a file from a network location. It opens the application but never opens the actual file. I have tried Word and it works okay from the same network location. If the users open
    Excel first and then use the Open menu option to navigate to their network file it opens fine. I have tried several options listed in previous postings but have not found anything that works for me. I have checked the event log but nothing of note is there
    because Excel does open it just never opens the file. Thanks.

    Did you get any error message when you try to open excel file from the network location?
    Not sure what methods you have already tried. So Firstly I would suggest you check if the option 'ignore other applications...' already unchecked (File->Options->Advanced) . And then add this network location to trusted location .
    In addition, you can try to disable the OFV add-in by using a registry setting  to test this issue .Refer to the article below to get the detailed steps:

  • Acrobat XI combine to PDF feature is not working with Office 2013 is there a compatibility issue?

    Tested with Office 2010 and it works fine
    Seems to only be the combine to PDF feature that doesn't work, done updates, tried combining a variety of documents still no joy

    There isn't any compatibility issue with Office 2013 and Combine should work with office 2013 same as it with 2010.
    Can you please tell us some more details so that we can investigate the problem which you are facing:
    1) Please update the exact Acrobat version you are using. This you can find out via "Help -> About Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.." Version should be something like 11.0.x. If it is not 11.0.7, then please update it to 11.0.7 and try again.
    2) Is this problem you faced recently (after some update - Acrobat or OS update) or it never used to work earlier for you?
    3) You mentioned that when combining, it convert first document only. Can you please let us know how many documents you are combining and what are those formats?
    4) Also please update about you environment as well. Is you Operating System and MS Office 32bit or 64bit?

  • Office Store not working in Office 2013 ProPlus

    I have few policies set up for managing our network deployment of Office 2013 ProPlus. Pretty standard things like disabling the first time run movie, disabling the office start screen, and disabling OneDrive. I actually made most of these changes through
    the registry as well.
    Now, it seems as though the Office Store is disabled but I have no recollection of specifically disabling such a feature nor could I find a registry or GPO which does disable it. I even undid many of the registries I use on a test bench but still could not
    get the Office Store functionality back. We've had Office 2013 rolled out on our network for almost a year, and it's taken this long for 1 person of 150 members of staff to notice that the Dictionaries feature is not working due to Office Store not working.
    I feel a bit daft posting something seemingly so trivial on TechNet, but half an hour on Google didn't turn up anything relevant that I wasn't already aware of.

    Please check if you have disabled the option of "Don't allow any apps to start" and "Don't allow apps from the Office Store to start" in Office Trust Center.
    Location: FILE->Options->Trust Center->Trusted App Catalogs
    GPO settings for these options:
    Block Apps for Office
    Block the Office Store
    Location: User Configuration->Administrative Templates->Microsoft Office 2013->Security Settings->Trust Center->Trusted Catalogs

  • Spell Check Not working in Office 2013

    I can not get spell check to work at all in Outlook nor Word documents.  I need real basic instructions please.
     I tried this idea from a prior post, but there is no dictionary file to pick.  Any other ideas?
    If so, back up all these files. Add the custom dictionaries via:
    Click the
    File tab.
    Click
    Options.
    Click
    Proofing.
    Make sure the
    Suggest from main dictionary only check box is cleared.
    Click
    Custom Dictionaries.
    Click
    Add.
    Locate the folder containing the custom dictionary you want, and then double-click the dictionary file.

     I tried this idea from a prior post, but there is no dictionary file to pick.
    Are there any dictionaries listed in the Dictionary List when you click
    File > Options > Proofing > Custom Dictionaries? If so, please make sure the check boxes before these dictionaries are ticked.
    Do you mean the Spell Check not working as you type or after you click the
    Spelling & Grammar button?
    If you mean spell check not working as you type, please go to File > Options > Proofing and select the check box before "Check spelling as you type".
    If above didn't apply, please try to rename your Word template file (Normal.dotm) to Normal.old and then restart Word to check if it helps.

  • Find in files, Go to location. does not work

    We are using the Oracle Dev tools for VS 2008. We have a oracle database project with lots of procs, functions queries.. When we search for some text using find in files, we get a bunch of results found.
    When we click on any item in the find results window, we are unable to navigate to the file in the project. We are seeing a message 'The system can not find the file specified.'
    Appreciate any help to fix the annoyance with Oracle dev tools

  • Relinking files through link checker does not work properly.

    Good Morning:
    I am using Dreamweaver CS6, and updating an old site (built in CS4). I have over 100 broken links to graphics which I am trying to relink through the "link checker" - will sporadic success.
    I have to update this site yearly, with new product graphics.
    When I try to update using the "check links sitewide" feature, I can update maybe two graphics, and then it will hiccup on the third attempt and REFUSE to relink to the new graphic I direct it to.
    My computer specs are as follows:
    Mac Pro
    Processor  2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
    Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)
    Any help would be appreciated.

    My guess is that you defined the language used to check on one or a few number of words.
    Select all the define the language to use.
    I'm quite sure that, after that, it will do the trick correctly.

    I am using SFTP 32 bit Adapter on BizTalk 2013 , I have provided proper credentials like user name and password, server name, port #......but the file is being not picked.

  • FilePrint not working in Office 2013

    Hi,
    we are trying to override the idmso FilePrint command in the ribbon. This works fine in Word/Excel/PPT 2007 and 2010 but not in 2013.
    Is there any bug in 2013 or did the command name change? Strangely office doesn't throw any errors but the function doesn't get called when I go to File -> Print and click the print button.

    Hello Mark,
    I suppose you are talking about the Print command shown on the screenshot:
    The fact is that you are trying to repurpose the backstage controls.
    It is not possible to override these commands from the custom UI XML markup or by using the object model.
    A better solution would be to consider hiding the built-in UI and rebuilding it fully with custom commands.

    First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).

    If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
    In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
    CS7 = CC v9
    CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

  • System wide PDF presets location is not working in CC

    On both Mac and PC, the system wide location for PDF settings (.joboptions) does not work anymore.
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings (on a Mac)
    It is illogical to remove this feature. Even if that folder does not store the main default presets, which are now stored in each application, it still needs to be looked at and loaded from. It's actually illogical to store the same preset in multiple locations (i.e. each application). If there is a preset that is only for a certain application (e.g. Illustrator Default), this could be put in the application folder, but all others like High Quality, Prepress, PDF/X should be in a central location, i.e. where they used to be.
    I know that each user can manually load into their own PDF presets, which then do appear in all suite apps, but this has to be done every time a new user logs into a computer.
    The central location meant that all suite apps would see a custom set of presets automatically across the entire suite and across multiple versions of the suite. The other advantage to the central location is that the presets would appear in square brackets, in other words read only, so they cannot be changed by the user without saving as a new file.
    Having users manually load and be able to change the presets kind of defeats the purpose of having a preset, certainly in our environment, where we need these settings to be consistent across all apps, all computers and all users.
    Please put this feature back or at least honour the central location that used to be used.
