Opening Flash CC files in CS5

So I have Flash CC and I am working on a school project. However, the school computers only have CS5, which won't open CC files, and I don't know anyone with CS6. Is there any other way to open a CC .fla file in Flash CS5?

You could download the trial version of CS6 (or someone you know could) and use it to save back to CS5.

We have just upgraded to CS5 to take advantage of the tracked changes facility, and immediately encountered problems:
when opening CS4 files in CS5, we've noticed that formulae, created using charater styles, are not displaying properly. For example x = y / z, which would have the x and = signs dropped, the y underlined and the z on the next line, something like this (although much prettier than I can reproduce here):
x = y
z
in CS5, however, all gyphs in the formula are superimposed upon each other
we tried loading the character styles from our template document. However, that caused most of the content to dissapear!

If you are opening the CS4 files directly in CS5, try exporting CS4 files to IDML and opening the IDML files in CS5. It's worth a try if you haven't already found it doesn't help.

Opening a CS4 file in CS5

A friend of mine was working on a project of ours, using CS4. I have CS5, and no matter what settings/preferences I change, I cannot open any PSD files he sends me. I can't find any help on the problem anywhere, it seems to be unique to our situation. Sending a jpeg or png isn't really an option if we want to keep our layers, which we do.
Any ideas on what we can do? We tried setting maximize PSD and PSB file compatibilty to Always, as well as allowing CS5 to utilize all of the system's RAM and still nothing. Is it a problem with CS5 not being backwards compatable? Or is there some setting in CS4 that needs to be changed for CS5 to be able to open the files?

If you want to understand why PSD is not working, it would help to answer how the files are transferred.
If transferred via the internets/email, try zipping the PSD file first. Some mail programs attempt to rewrite (and mangle) PSD files to make them smaller for email. Some mail programs and servers also misinterpret the PSD filetype.
You might get around this by packing the PSD files in a ZIP archive.

Seriously, there are few things Photoshop CS6 does that Photoshop CS5 doesn't understand and in most cases the file should just open right up. Are you having a specific problem?

I cannot open a eps file in CS5 Illustrator

I downloaded an .eps directly from Shutterstock onto a PC which opened it no problem in CS5. when I try to open it up on my Mac in CS5 also it says "cannot open or convert to pdf" I have other eps files that open no problem.
I have paid for these files so I really need to open them..

I am a student, My school uses CS5 - I have CS6 - I am unable to open my homework at school (cs6 wont open on cs5) But I can still open school work at home (cs5 can be opened in cs6)
I need to know (please) if there is a way to save my cs6 psd files as an earlier version so I don't have to keep redoing my work - Please help!

CS6 files are backward compatible.
But when opening in an older version, you can get warnings about text layers, or lose some effects that are specific to CS6 (like strokes on shape layers).

My former company wishes to upgrade their ooooooooooold software to the latest version:) They currently have InDesign CS and want to make the leap to CS5. The question is...will it be possible to open their current CS files into CS5 once they make the switch? This is really important of course.

Opening Flash 8 file in MX 2004?

Is there any way I can open a Flash 8 file in Flash MX 2004?
I'm taking a class and they're using Flash 8 at school. I brought
the file home and it says "Unexpected file format" when I'm trying
to open it. I am assuming this happens because I use MX 2004 on my
home computer. Is there anything I can do about that?

From Flash 8 : file - Save As - (save as type) Flash 8 or MX
2004
Take note tho, latest components used in version 8 won't be
compatible
with down saving so not all content will work properly. This
option
works only if flash 8 uses MX 2004 abilities and not higher
than that.

I am teaching a web design class and the student files that
came with the book are a newer version than what I am using. I am
using Flash MX 2004 and assume the files are either Flash 8 or CS3.
Is there anyway to get MX to open the new file?

Save As...from Flash 8 to MX 2004 - if CS3 Save As...to Flash
8, open in Flash 8, Save As...to MX 2004.

I updated my old cs package to cs5 and now when I try to open those old files it says that can´t open the illustrator, also old acrobat files seems to be corrupted in my computers opinion. Can you please help me how can I open those? Thank you so much in advance

You say that it says "can't open the Illustrator". Does that mean the application won't start?
Will the application start without double-clicking a document?
How are you trying to open the files (double-clicking the file, dragging the file over the application icon, using the application file-open menu)?

Can't open flash/fla files (with CS4) - might be version issue

Hi,
I am trying to edit a website for a friend (built with Flash and XML) and i can't seem to get into any of the .Fla files.
I don't know if it is my version of Flash (CS4) or the files and not sure how i could test it. Could also just be a CS5 file hence i can't open it.
Any help or suggestions would be great. Please help i don't know what to do, haha.

Hi Asher,
You cannot open a file which is saved in future version such as CS5 version in Flash CS4 .This is as designed .
If you need to open a CS5 file in CS4 , You need to save the file as CS4 file and then open in Flash CS4 .

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.3 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
