Opening InDesign 2.0.2

Suddenly, after 7 years of using InDesign 2.0.2, I cannot open it. Is there an expiration date built into the software? I have been trying to get through to customer/tech service all day - impossible. I finally got Chat - and they couldn't help me! Very frustrating. Anyone have any ideas? I am using a Mac (v10.4.11, CS4)

Not sure if Adobe software has an expiration date but it is odd all
our InDesigns 2. s stopped this week. I did talk to an Adobe tech
person but he did not know anything about the problem and only wanted
me to upgrade to InDesign 4. Says Adobe does not support InDesign 2
problems now even if they caused them. We need to all contact Adobe
to pressure them for an answer.

I don't think I can access the crash report? Excuse the ignorant questions I'm about to make am a relative tech novice.
Soo - as mentioned every time I open photoshop it crashes - it just says there's an error and the program will shut down and if there's a solution windows will notify me. Then nothing...
I've tried to look in photoshop files for the detailed crash report & the system event viewer but cannot find a file with those names. I've also looked in the windows files for files with those names but cannot find them either - so I don't know where to look.
Any guidance would be great.

Is there any way to open indesign from within a script, or does the application already need to be running before a script can access it?

In Applescript, when you compile the code, the app must be running. If it's not, then it will start.
When you run the script, InD doesn't have to be started first. You could have some Finder actions happen, then InD starts at the needed time when it's actions occur. You can have an if/then statement that only requests InD to do an action only if other circumstances are met. You do not even need to tell application InD to launch, just the first tell app statement will do it.
I do not know how things work in Javasc or VB.

My CS 3.0.1 will not open InDesign files created in 2008. It says a plug-in may be missing. I did have a computer crash since I last opened it. I've tried changing the extension to inx, but that doesn't work. I cannot get the file to open. Can someone help?

The OP is using CS. He/she could be trying to open CS2 or later.
Simply changing the file extension will do know good and only an INX exported from CS2 will work.

The keyword is "migration." Migrating or copying files for Adobe applications usually does not work. Not all of the necessary subsidiary files are copied to the right location.
You'll need to first clean up the mess with this tool:

Registration window appears every time I open InDesign...and it's already registered

After a recent computer crash, I reloaded ID CS2 on a new system and even though it's been successfully activated and registered, the registration window is appearing every time I open InDesign. I received an e-mail from Adobe thanking me for registering, including the special "offer" I can now take advantage of...so I know it's registered.
How can I stop that registration window from appearing every time I open InDesign?

My Registration Window just recently started popping up, too, even though it's been registered -- and registered -- several times.
I went to:
- Control Panel, then selected
- Security Center, then selected
- "Change the way Security Center alerts me"
I'm presented with three options:
1. Yes, notify me and display the icon (recommended);
2. Don't notify me, but display the icon; and
3. Don't notify me and don't display the icon (not recommended).
So, which choice would still keep my system protected, but get rid of the irritating Registration Window from popping up each time I start Adobe?

It should be. What happens when you try?
Did you copy or migrate your InDesign files to a new computer? That won't work. You would need to remove all the CS files with the Adobe Cleaner tool, then reinstall from a clean installed copy.

When I went to install Shortcut Editor Dialog Plugin the message the message says : there is no default application specified to open the document Shortcut Editor. Then in the recommended application box it recommends iTunes or Garage Band. Huh?

Why can't I open InDesign CS4?

I get error messages - the first one says:
Font Capture:InDesign.ece - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point ....... could not be located int he dynamic library link Public.dlll.
Then I get a second error that says:
Cannot load the SNIPPET.APLN plug in. It is dependent ont he INXCORE.RPLN plug-in, which failed to load.

1. Windows Vista, Home Premium (service pack 2), and I operate on a PC.
2. I stated my InDesign version in the original heading - It is CS4.
3. The file is an INDD file & we don't know which version it was created in.
4. Start - All Programs - Adobe Master Collection CS4 - Adobe InDesign CS4
