Opening mp3 file in KM Content w/ Windows media player end of file reached

Hello all, when I am in KM content, I click on an mp3 file and I get end of file reached w/Windows media player.   If I select the mp3 file and say "Save target as" and download it to my pc I can open it just fine in windows media player.  Also opening the file in km content with Real Audio Player, I get a login prompt to the portal.  When I click cancel the file plays in real audio.  If I enter my login credentials in the real audio prompt the file won't play.  Any ideas anyone?
thanks in advance

  • Flash content in Windows Media Player

Can Flash Content play in the Windows Media Player? I don't see it as a supported file type but found this on the Microsoft site:
...you must have Adobe Flash 9 installed to play Flash content through Windows Media Player. If Flash 9 is not installed, a dialog box that contains the following text prompts you to install Flash 9
    Thanks

I looked up the internet but can't find anything on this. As no replies here too I guess I'm the only one. The other thing that struck me is the enormous CPU usage when playing flash in the browser. Up to 95%-100% cpu usage when playing HD flash content. First I assumed it was a Flash issue but Internet Explorer never used more then 35%-55%. I then assumed it was just Flash in Safari. Strange thing is, if I maximize the window the cpu load actually drops to 55%. I only get high cpu usage when flash is played in the Safari window. I guess that means it's something to do with the browser and not an isolated flash 'bug'.
Also still no luck playing WMV in the browser itself. Maybe time to look for yet another browser. A shame as I like the Safari browser a lot. MobileMe and iPhone are great to sync bookmarks and the look and feel is great. The engine is not so good unfortunately.

  • Make Firefox Open Windows Media Player for Video Files

I need to make Firefox open the actual Windows Media Player application (not a plugin, the actual app window) when clicking on video links, e.g., WMV. These file types are already associated in Windows Explorer with WMPlayer, but this has no effect on Firefox.
What happens right now is that after clicking a video, I get a black screen with the yellow VLC Player icon (VideoLAN VLC is installed on my PC) in the center and no video. I do NOT want to launch VLC or any internal plugins.

You can change what type of application opens for each kind of type in Firefox's options.

  • Problems using windows media player to transfer files to zen x

All 9gs of my music is stored in windows media player music library.transferring it to zen xtra has caused many cds arriving at player with wrong content under different artists and some songs copied many times over. Is there a known conflict using windows player and zen xtra?I would use mediasource but my cds imported to ther interface with many not identified even thogh all my music was clearly labeled with artist, title and gnere in windows music library.Any help would be great. I cant get my 9gs of music into the zen without content mess u
    ps.
    thanks matt

I, for one, am incredibly dissapointed in the portable file aspect of this player. i work in a PC store and we sell the Zen Touch , i also received one for christmas. At first i was very happy that i could also use it to carry my files to and from school but all my hopes were extinguished when i realized that the computers i would transfering to and from had to have the creative software installed. Obviously, Creative's target consumers are of the Student generation, so they must have known that we, as students , use computer labs in school. So why not add the firmware to override the creative software when transfering data files? What's written on the box and the sales pitch creative uses is extreamly misguided and alot of the buyers have come back to the store with complaints. They arn't happy, i'm not happy, creative should fix this porblem, and yes it is a problem and not "part of the design".

I download a pdf - and I want to store it in a file I keep for Adobe pdf's but I download it and it comes in and Windows Media player ASSUMES - it is a job for Windows - how do I fix this - because Windows Media Player - is not all it is cracked up to be and I want to choose all the defaults for myself - would it be better to uninstall Media Player - I have Media Monkey - and the only program to download a pdf - IMnsHO is Adobe so I would want to make Adobe my default for opening and storing - pdf's

  • I just purchased Premiere 13 and the video files won't play in Windows Media Player. I have audio but no video. What can I do? I have Premiere 12 and everything works fine with it.

    What can I do?

    Bonan
Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 8.1 64 bit
What are your export settings for this finished video from Premiere Elements 13?
For example - are you using
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVChD
    with Presets = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30
    or something different like
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    MPEG
    with Presets = MPEG2 1920 x 1080i30
    or something different ....
We are going to have to get at your export settings which gets us to the properties of the finished video that you are trying to play in Windows Media Player.
If you take your finished video from Premiere Elements 13 and import that into a new Premiere Elements 13 project with Add Media/Files and Folders,
does it import into the new project. And, when the video is in the new project, does it display video and have audio in the Edit area monitor?
We need more details of the properties of the finished video. Knowing that you have no problems with this matter in Premiere Elements 12 and that
the finished video plays in CyberLink are important, but they do not help to figure out what is happening in 13 so that it does not happen again.

  • Quick time file to be converted for windows media player usage on web site

i have a quicktime file and need to convert it for usage on a website through windows media player. i have final cut and compressor and can convert it to mpeg 1 and 2. is there a recommended codec or tool i should use for the conversion. the file will probably be viewed through a downlaod versus streaming video...if that matters.
    thanks
    dennis
G5   Mac OS X (10.3.7)   i have final cut and compressor sw

Although I dislike MPEG-1 because of the large file size those .mpg files are commonly used on the Web. They can be played by nearly any computer and are not "Player" dependent like WMP or QuickTime so each user can decide how to view them.
As a bonus they are a "playback" format which makes editing and repurposing them a bit more difficult so your media is a bit more "secure".
I'll stick to QuickTime formats (avoiding H.264 video codec) and force QuickTime down their WiMPy throats. Millions of PC's have QuickTime installed (because of iTunes) and others can easily download the free Player and browser plug-in. By avoiding H.264 my files can be viewed on Mac's and PC's that can't install QuickTime 7.

  • Safari crashes with Windows media player and pdf files

My Safari beta 3.0.3 crashes when I access windows media player files or pdf files. I am running 10.4.10. I tried to go back to Safari 2 but the installer did not let me because of the 10.4 version.

You may want to try installing the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.0.x, as this resolved the issue for me. Download the Acrobat Reader Install app. shut down all browsers, uninstall all older versions of Acrobat Reader (unless you really want to keep them), then install the version 8.x version. You may need to restart your computer too. After Safari 3 has the plug-in from Acrobat Reader 8.x in use, you are not likely to have any more PDF issues.

  • Despite having the File Associations in both Windows Control Panel and Firefox Options set to Windows Media Player for *.mwv files Firefox tries to open them with Foxit pdf Reader, which bombs out - what now?

Making this entry from my Linux computer which handles the situation correctly. The real situation involves only a Toshiba laptop running Windows XP.

I used this link for tiff http://www.nrl.navy.mil/content.php?P=IMAGES
QT was opening the tiff files. When going into the QT control panel Browser>Mime settings>Images-Still image files I was able to uncheck tiff, which held. I was also able to uncheck all the file types under File Types tab(Images-Still image files) in the QT control panel. However the preference would not hold. Went into Start>Set Program Access and Defaults that also was of no help.
The only way I was able to get QT to release the tiff's from the website I posted was to go into the Folder Options control panel for File Types and change the tif & tiff from QT picture viewer to windows picture and fax viewer.
So not sure why the QT control panel will not respond, there are other file types in the Folder options control panel on this computer other than tiff's that are still associated to QT, but didn't try changing them, perhaps that needs to be done?
Good post I didn't realize this before reading your post, if I come across anything further I'll post back.

  • Firefox 21 won't open mp3s in Windows Media Player

I have set the program to file type option to both "windows media player" and "ask" and Firefox still opens the mp3 in a generic player in a new tab. MP3s played in the Windows Media Player popup window (after downloading) fine in the last version of Firefox 20.X. I've tried disabling the Microsoft WMP plugin (the only way to stop them from opening in a new tab using Quicktime was to disable the Quicktime plugin).
The MP3 MIME settings in Quicktime have all been unchecked and the Windows extension settings all are set to Windows Media Player as the default player for MP3s.

Great worked for me too, but.............its a win 10 how do i update to the latest version

  • Opening windows media player

Hi all, I am having a problem with opening downloaded files. I downloaded the windows media player for mac os from the microsoft website. The players icon is on my desktop. How the hec do I run it?? When I doubleclick on it it says script editor cannot open the file. When I clicked info in the finder window it shows script editor as the default. When I click on OPEN WITH in the finder I cannot find an app to open this.
I guess it's obvious I am trying to learn some of the basics of my mac. I am new to mac, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This topic has appeared on this forum a gazillion times. But alright....you can;t help it....I guess it's a whole different world after having switched from PersonalCrap to Mac. You have to open the file with Stuffit (which you can also download from the net). Just from now on.....make sure you download Mac versions concerning programs. So look for Stuffit for Mac as there is also a version for Windows (or so I heard).
    Good luck

  • Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file...

I am running WMP 11.0.5721.5280. I am running XP SP3 with every update that has come out. I have 4 GB RAM and my processor is a Pentium 4, 2.6GHz.
I have a large collection of music file ripped from my CD collection. Almost every time I want to plat a music file I get a message; Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file, For additional assistance, click Web Help. When this
error box is displayed, a red 'X' placed next to the file in WMP.
When I click the "Web Help" button, I am taken to a MS website (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/c00d11b1) which tells me that I should go to the sound device website and make certain I have the latest driver. All of the advice which
is given does not apply to me. My sound device works fine! I can play CD, DVD (movies), and MP3 files. Even when I use RealPlayer, the same thing happens, but not as frequently.
Can anyone offer a solution to this problem?
