Opening multiple pdf's

When I create multiple pdf's (20-60), it opens that many
windows.
I need to combine these files plus bookmarks (file name) into
one single file.
These are created using a batch printer for AutoCAD drawings.
My only option seen so far is to create them without
previewing them.
Then i do a sort by date to combine them.
is this my only option?
I want to print the drawings to a single file and preview
before saving in one large PDF.

i like it about that ok in how to open my site

  • Open Multiple PDF files from Production order/Routing

    Hi Everyone
We are in ECC 6.0 environment. We have a scenario where multiple documents were attached to single operation and also at multiple operations. But when I was trying to open these PDF documents, only the last file was getting opened and closing the previous file. How can I open multiple PDF files at one time from Production order or Routing?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
from DMS standard I regret but such a functionality is not available. In the standard originals can be opened only one after another.
I think for realising this functionality an individual modificatoin is necessary.
    Best regards,

  • Unable to open multiple PDF files in Acrobat 9 Pro - Vista

I have a staff member that is unable to open more than one PDF at a time.  If a PDF is currently open and another one is selected the program will crash and close.  It gives a message stating the program has crashed and must be closed and also gives an option to check online for a solution.  Has anyone else seen this issue or know a fix for it?  Thanks in advance.

No. Starting with Acrobat 9 it is no longer possible to open multiple PDF files in the same window.

  • Cannot open multiple PDFs in Acrobat Reader X

Ever since upgrading to Acrobat X, I cannot open multiple PDFs. With all previous versions over recent years, up to version 9, I could select multiple PDF files in Windows Explorer, hit Enter, and it loaded them all. Then I could Ctrl+F6 to switch between the documents. Quick and Easy.
Now, if I try this with just 2 PDF files, it loads one and then locks up, almost stalling the PC, with each session of Acrobat taking about 40-45% of processor power. I have to crash out of it.
    Help!
[P.S. As an aside, I don't like this floating toolbar that only appears if you happen to move the mouse over the bottom part of the screen. I suppose it's a "neat idea" from one of the programmers trying to be clever. Well guys, it is not user friendly. As a former Software QA and Product Manager, one of my design adages was "DON'T MAKE ME GUESS". Please think again.]

In my case: v10.1.1 would not open more than one pdf at a time on a user workstation (although mine did) so I tried disabling protected mode and made sure the large image display setting was correct.
To no avail. Reinstalled version base version 10, checked the same settings...no joy
Also tried repairing the install and re-updated from the base v10...still no love
Solution for me: Opened reader X, under Help-->Online Support, there is an option to generate a system report which availed the following:
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
    Version: 7.15.10.9685
    Check: Not Supported
And of coarse the most recent driver was already present. Had to go back to v9.4
All good now. Hope this saves someone a few hours!

  • Opening multiple PDFs outside of browser in Acrobat 9 Std/Pro

Just got off the phone with Adobe's TS and was unhappy that they took the functionality of opening multiple PDFs outside of the browser and have it be contained in ONE window from Adobe 9. Unless someone else can tell me how to set this option up again, I'm sticking with 8 until there's an update to this.

I believe this was a permanent change. See the following link and conversation thread:

However, that preference is NO LONGER present in Acrobat/Reader 9. In version 9, we ONLY operate in SDI mode. So even with that fix for Acrobat/Reader 8 - you will STILL break in version 9.
    You MUST rethink your code...

  • Open multiple PDF's in Acrobat X Pro?

I have about 20 password protected PDF's that I would like to open in one instance of Acrobat X, instead of 20 different windows.  Is there a way to do this.
I've tried merging them, but they're secured with the FileOpen plugin, and even though I have my the username and password, it won't allow a merge.  Hoping to find a solution.  Thanks.

No. Starting with Acrobat 9 it is no longer possible to open multiple PDF files in the same window.

  • Open multiple PDFs in Photoshop at specific size for use with Actions

I am having a bit of a roadblock with batch Automate in Photoshop. I'd like to open multiple PDFs at 630p x 630p, 72 dpi in greyscale. I have 2000 files to do this on. If files are already open, the rest of my action works, does a few things, then saves for web as PNG. It is just the open which is not working. It tries to give all files the same filename. Taking the filename out of the Action is not an option. Scan of msg boards say that this feature stopped working around CS3. Any ideas? Much appreciated.

Open opens images the same size and resolution they are saved. If you want the images to be a particular size you need to do that in the action.
If you download my crafting actions package.  You will find the there are over a dozen scripts I wrote to be used with in action.  One is a plugin script that would be particularly helpful to you to do the resize you want to do.  The first three steps would be Step 1 menu File>Automate>AspectRatioSelection....  You would set in a 1 to  1   Aspect ratio. Centered, rectangle. replace, selection and 0 feather. In its dialog.  Those settings will be recorded into the Actions step. Step 2 menu Image Crop. that will make you image square. Step 3 menu File>Automate>Fit Image...  In the Fit image dialog you would set 630 in the width and height fields.  These settings will be recorded into the actions step.    When the action is played no dialog will be displayed. The recorded settings will be used.

  • Open multiple pdfs in one acrobat window

There are many things annoying about Acrobat, but the one that really gets me is that the option to open multiple pdfs in the same window, rather than splattering them all over the toolbar, apparently has been removed in the latest versions.  I have been using Foxit for pdfs for the past few years and am only now returning to acrobat because we've purchased a piece of software that requires a plugin that works only in acrobat.
Tabs are the proper solution.   How long ago did Firefox shake up the browser community with tabs, 15 years ago?   Where was Acrobat?   For a while, they bodged together a preference that would keep them all in the same window (no tabs however), but even that is gone.

  • Hang when opening multiple pdfs: Reader 10.0.1 (Win Server 2008 x64 SP2)

I have recently updated Adobe Reader to the latest patch update 10.0.1.
Previous to this update, I was able to open multiple pdfs at once and had no issues with the Adobe Reader software. After updating to 10.0.1 I've noted that when I attempt to open more than one pdf at a time, Reader hangs (Windows indicates a "Not Responding" error has occurred). After a series of minutes, the second (or third, fourth etc) file opens, and Reader appears to function as per normal..
I'm running Adobe Reader 10.0.1 on a Windows Server 2008 x64 (SP2) box, and didn't have this issue with the 10.0.0 release..
Does anyone else share this issue, and if so, is there an update planned to solve the issue? I would also be happy to provide more diagnostics/specs if these will provide info for developers to chase down the issue here..

I also have Reader 10.0.1 (Win 7 Home Premium x32).  I can open several large PDFs (including one over 100 MiB) satisfactorily and then have the whole thing hang.  As I am trying to work with these documents, I have not been patient enough to wait for minutes.  I just have to terminate Reader and relaunch it.
I have removed some of my DLLs to stop Reader wasting my time preparing a long document for reading, which I do not need .  (It would really help if Adobe would provide a setting to turn this off, instead of my having to hack it. )
I never had any similar problems with Reader 9.  Did anyone test Reader X before releasing it?  I have read elsewhere that turning Protected Mode off may help but...

  • Opening multiple pdfs

When I am opening multiple pdfs, after opening the 3rd pdfs, the active window goes back to the first pdf. Trying to switch back to the 3rd pdf by the Windows menu, and selecting the 3rd pdf and the active window still goes back to the first pdf. Anyone has any idea?

  • Can't open multiple PDF docs on same display

I have a Windows 7 x64 machine, with Acrobat X Standard, running dual displays.
The problem is that I can't get multiple PDF files to open on my right display.  One PDF file will open on the right display, if no other PDF files are open.  The first one always opens there by default.  The problem is that if one file is open, any subsequent PDF files ALWAYS open on the left display, on top of my design software.  Then I have to drag it back over to the right to see what I'm doing on the left.  Very annoying.
EVERY other application installed on my machine opens where it's supposed to.  Multiple Firefox windows always open in the same place on the right display.  Multiple Windows Explorer windows always open on the right display.  Multiple Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. docs always open on the right display.
Acrobat is the ONLY app that will not open multiple docs on the right side.  I had the same issue with Acrobat Reader 9 before I installed X.
My old machine used to do the same thing with Acrobat 8 Standard, and at some point there was an update that seemed to fix it.  However I can't seem to get it to work with X on my current machine.  Any ideas?

The problem is with the document, not the program. You can try to open the file in Preview and print from there. Otherwise, you will need to contact the creator of the document for a new version of the file.

  • Open Multiple PDFs from within excel using VBA

    Hi,
I'm using excel 2010 and would like to open pdfs based on filenames I have listed in excel.
I attached a little of my code below which gives an idea of what I'm doing.
    First question:
Is there a way to open mutiple files so that they are in one "instance" of adobe?
The way this currently works, is it opens up a whole new window for each file which can make desktop very cluttered.
    Second question:
Our pdfs are actually in Sharepoint and so what I am first doing, is converting the URL to point to a mapped directory of the Sharepoint Site.
For this to work, the user must first map the sharepoint directory to a specific drive letter.
I'm wondering if there's a way to pass an actual URL via a shell command so I can skip the mapped drive bit?  When I try it, it doesn't open the file.
    Thanks!
    My current vba:
'sFileName = full URL of the file in sharepoint
         'Replace URL with Mapped Directory
            sFileName = Replace(sFileName, "http://aamteams.alv.autoliv.int/sites/alvgmbu/", "A:\")
         'Replace slashes in URL
            sFileName = Replace(sFileName, "/", "\")
'Test if file exists before opening so adobe doesn't hang up on opening
            If Dir(sFileName) = "" Then
                A81_Try_Opening_In_Adobe = False
                Exit Function
            End If
            l_strProg = GetDefaultProgram(sFileName)
            'Execute function to open PDF
            Shell l_strProg & " " & sFileName, vbNormalFocus

    Hi Test,
We would like to open directly in adobe for the following reasons:
    1.  The users like opening our pdfs in adobe over browsers by a large margin.
    2.  If we use a mapped drive and adobe, you can see the filenames in the start bar which is important when you have multiple files.
If you open in browser (like we do today), you only see the left side of URL
Left side of URL is always the same so it does no good to see what file your in.
    3.  We have had issues where sometimes the pdfs open "blank" until I refresh the browser.
    4.  We are also looking for a way to make a local cache of most common files for faster loads.
But maybe I will give shell execute a try if it can find a local copy first in the code.
Then open in browser as last resort.
Using either shell or shell execute, is it possible to open multiple adobe files in the same instance or will we always have to get one instance for every pdf?
    Thanks for the help!
