Blank error message with ? appears and PDF does not open in Browser (IE11) when clicking link to open pdf. PC - IE11 Acrobat 9.0
Cannot access in browser PDF files unless blank box is closed and then website address is clicked on again in browser address bar and page reloaded.
Uninstalled Acrobat 9, reinstalled, still same problem.
    Help please!

Yes I can it only happens in the browser..
I reinstalled Windows on my machine and started over a couple of weeks ago.
When my desktop started up I didn’t have Acrobat installed and clicked on a pdf file and the open with xxx dialogue box came open.
I chose a different program as Acrobat wasn’t installed yet so it associated pdf files with another program.
Later Installed Acrobat and couldn’t associate the pdf file with acrobat so I went into Folder Options and manually associated PDF files with Acrobat.
Ever since then I get the error when something is downloaded and opened in the browser.
Works fine everywhere else and when I cancel the blank error, highlight the web address and press enter to reload it works 90% of the time.
    Not sure what to do..

  • Can't Open PDF Package In Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.3

Yesterday, I created a PDF Package of about 30 documents. When I attempt to open the package using Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.3, I get the Data Execution Prevention pop-up message saying that the file cannot be opened. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening?

Have not tried that yet. It was next on my schedule. I have another project that I'm working concurrently, but will have some time later today and will try that. Will post the results. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Open PDF files with adobe acrobat

    Greetings,
I need to open my PDF files in Adobe Acrobat NOT in Preview. How do I set my full version of Adobe Acrobat Pro X for Mac to open all PDF files by clicking on the icon without having to choose adobe acrobat to open each time?
Thank you; these simple savings of time compounded over a year really add up.
    Doug Kennedy

Select a PDF file and do a Get-Info (command-I) Where it says "Open with" select the drop down menu and then select Adobe Acrobat Pro X. Then select the box "Change All"
BTW, this bit is Mac 101. Get a good book on Mac OS.

Hi. I have recently uninstalled Acrobat Reader 8.1 (Spanish version).

After uninstall (using urpme), KPDF does no longer open PDF files.
I have tried to re-install Reader, and KPDF works perfectly. But then, when uninstalling again... KPDF again broken.

    Hello DAG,
we have the same problem updating from Adobe Reader 8 to Reader 9.
Enclosed you will find our solution on Debian Etch systems, if it still effects you:
    1. Install Adobe Reader 9 and xdg-utils
    2. PATH="/opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/bin:$PATH" /usr/bin/xdg-mime install --novendor "/opt/Adobe/Reader9/Resource/Support/AdobeReader.xml" (maybe you have to change the path to your installation directory)
    Best regards,

  • Cannot opening PDF created with Adobe Acrobat 5 on Samsung Android device

Hi I have an number of links to PDFs on my WordPress.com blog home page (www.creationtonewcreation.com). These were created in Adobe Acrobat 5, with security applied that allows viewing and printing. They open fine on my laptop (e.g. with Google Chrome), but when trying to open on my Android mobile (Samsung Note 3 - a standard design) with Acrobat Reader installed, an error message appears 'The document cannot be opened because it is not a valid PDF document'. It is a valid PDF as it was created with Adobe 5 itself. Do you know what the problem might be?  I have uploaded another PDF (not sure what this was created with) on my other WordPress.com site, and it downloads fine, so WordPress.com is not the problem per se.  Many thanks for any advice anyone can give.  Rob

    Hi Robert,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused & will try my best to get this issue resolved.
I will recommend you to upgrade your Adobe reader to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on your Samsung Note 3 mobile phone and then try to view the pdf files. You can download it for free from the Google app. store or you can refer to this link Acrobat Reader DC Learn & Support.
Let me know if you still experience the same issue.

  • Open pdf in safari using: ACROBAT 9 PRO

    Hi,
I am using safari 4.0.3 and Acrobat Pro 9 10.4.3. When I click a pdf file in safari, it opened with it default pdf viewer. However, I want to use acrobat to view pdf (in safari).
Here are the solutions I've tried:
    1 Acrobat->Preference-> Internet->Display PDF in browser using-> Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1.3
2 Acrobat->Help->Repair Acrobat Installation->adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin->Continue then it says successfully installed
    3 Safari->Help->Installed Plug-ins. I can NOT find acrobat/pdf plugin
    4 Library/Internet Plug-Ins: I CAN find AdobePDFViewer.pugin
    5 Users/My name/LIbrary/Internet Plug-Ins: I CAN ALSO find AdobePDFViewer.pugin
6 When I open a pdf on my computer, it runs Acrobat 9
    NONE OF THESE ABove WORKS.
Could anyone please give me some suggestions?

I would guess that Acrobat Pro isn't compatible with Safri 4.0.3 yet, and perhaps even 10.6, but only Adobe really knows, so you'd be better off asking them. If it's not, I'm sure they'll release a patch or update of some kind after 10.6 ships.
If I were you, I'd uninstall the portion of Acrobat that normally works with Safari to render PDF files and use the built-in rendering abilit of Safari itself. Not only is that simpler, but Acrobat Pro is a huge memory hog.

  • Open PDF 1.4 in Acrobat 9 and save as 1.4

I am trying to resolve an issue where when I open a PDF in Acrobat 9 and then close the file after changes it will take a PDF 1.4 and make it a PDF 1.5. Is there any way to have Acrobat save the PDF files as the same version as was opened, by default? I need files which I have adjusted in Acrobat 9 to remain as PDF 1.4.

I've worked with PitStop, but never found this preference. I would appreciate a lot if you could trace the route to get it.
Other way to get it done —yes, it's annoying — is using the Pdf, Optimized/Settings… window, saving your preferences as a Settings preset clicking the save button and giving it a name —usually, you will prefer to keep everything as "Retain existing".
I found this issue not only as a save as matter, even if you perform a change in the existing number of the pages in the document or replacing some of it.
If you delete a page and just save the document, hit cmd+d (mac) and focus on Description tab to realize that the version has been updated to 1.6 too.
    Hope this could help.

  • Can't open pdf created with Adobe Acrobat Pro

I can't open a pdf (that was created with Adobe Acrobat Pro) using Reader 11. However, the file will open with an older version of Reader (10.1.4) on another workstation. Is there any way to resolve the problem?

Reader 11 is not available for general release. If you participated in the beta program, there is a place for this discussion which you have been provided. If you did not participate in the beta program, then you should not yet have access to Reader 11. I have just checked the Adobe website and it is not available to download from there.

  • Opening pdf files in Adobe Acrobat within Safari?

can pdf files be opened with adobe acrobat files in Safari? if so, how?
any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Heather,
Assuming you already have Adobe Reader installed, launch it and check the Reader preferences. There will be an 'Internet' section where you can toggle whether the Adobe plugin is used or not in web browsers. Safari will need to be restarted after making this change.

  • Open PDF in IE8 with Acrobat, not Reader ?

    Hi Chaps,
I used to be able to open a PDF from a HTML link, which would then open in Internet Explorer 8 using Adobe Acrobat.
Since installing Adobe Reader, all PDFs open in IE8 using Reader, instead of Acrobat, so now I cannot edit the PDF.
I've searched through Preferences in both programs, changed all associated program file types to Acrobat, reinstalled Acrobat but I cannot get it back!
    I'm using Windows 7 [64-bit], Acrobat 9, Reader 9.
If anyone knows which option to change, it'll help me out no end!

Adobe doesn't support Reader and Acrobat on the same Windows computer. Uninstall Reader and then re-install Acrobat.

  • Upgraded to Win 7, now can't open .pdf files after installing Acrobat X

I upgraded OS to Win 7 from Win XP, reinstalled my Acrobat X software and now am unable to open any .pdf files created and saved prior to upgrading OS and reinstalling Acrobat X. I see LOTS of discussion here about this issue (There was an error opening this document. Access denied.) but could someone tell me in SUCCINCT terms what I need to do to restore my ability to open files I created previously. My version of Acrobat X is 10.0.0. Thank you for assistance.

    HI szwarycz,
I will be happy to help.
Please tell me whether you have Adobe Reader or it Acrobat Professional X.
Meantime you can also try to go to edit preferences under categories choose General under general there is button called Select Default PDF Handler.
Click on that button and choose Adobe Acrobat X.  Check the screen shot.
Also you can try right click on any PDF document and choose option "Open with" their you need to choose option "Choose default application"
then you need to search for Acrobat application. Also you can visit this Microsoft article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/change-default-programs#1TC=windows-7
    Regards.

  • Opening .pdf web documents with Acrobat XI Standard

After installing Acrobat XI, when I click the hyperlink "view" for .pdf statements in either of my two brokerage company accounts, or click on a hyperlink to open a .pdf document in a web document, the .pdf gets downloaded but not opened.  So I have to view .pdf documents from my "Downloads" folder, rather than having them simply open in a new page or tab when I click on them.  (The new tab either quickly disappears or stays open, but is blank.  Only the Download location works to open the .pdf file.)  I don't know whether this is an Adobe issue with Acrobat XI or something else causing my computer not to open the .pdf files.  I am running Acrobat XI Standard in the Windows Vista Home Premium OS on a Gateway GT5678 PC.

Many thanks for the quick response, Bill. On your hunch that the browser
might make a difference,  I tried clicking on the same sites' .pdf files in
Chrome and IE, rather than my normal Firefox browser. They opened on-screen
without a problem.  Looks like I may have a Java plugin problem in Firefox,
rather than an AA XI issue.  Also looks like Windows Vista supports AA XI
    without a problem.

  • MacBook won't open pdf files with Adobe Acrobat Reader

I just bought a 13" MacBook and transferred everything from my 12" PowerBook to the MacBook. I just tried to open a file saved with Adobe and I get the following message:
You cannot open the application “Adobe Reader” because it is not supported on this architecture.
    Any suggestions?

Yep you need Adobe Reader for Intel. Actually you don't even need that. You could use Preview to view .pdf's but I always use Reader. Don't really know why
