Opening queries in BEx Analyzer

Hi,
We have a new SAP BW installation. When we try to open a query from the BEx Browser, it is opened with an Internet Browser instead of BEx Analyzer. The same occurs if we try to open it from the Favorites menu in the administrator workbench.
Does anybody know where we can change the setting so that the queries open in Excel?
Thanks very much,
Ana

Hi,
You define the standard Web template in the SAP Reference IMG->Business Information Warehouse->Reporting-Relevant Settings.

  • Unable to open Query in Bex Analyzer

    Hi All,
I am unable to open query in BEx Analyzer though i am able to open it in RSRT.It gives me no error,as soon as i open query it shows processing then nothing happens. No selection screen nothing,no error also.
Any pop up something like that  which is blocking the execution of Query??And its in production system,so its pretty urgent.

    Hi,
RSRT works while Analyzer doesn't. I would check it from the authorizations/roles point of view.
Some time ago I saw similiar error - due to lack of some rights the user was unable to run a query.
After I looked into the data provider definition I saw nothing there. My (admin) rights were good enough to run the query and see the data.
The user had no rights to read some infoprovider data. After granting the rights he could run the query.

  • RFC Error Received while opening queries from BEx Analiser

    Hi Friends,
We have recently upgraded BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 and installed SAP GUI 710.
When we try to open queries using old 3.5 BEx Analyser, we are getting error ' RFC Error Received '.
strange thing is, it is not happening with all the users. For some users it is working fine and for some users they are getting this error only on first instance when they login after upgrade and this error is not comming from second time onwards with out implementing any corrective actions. Some users are still getiing this error even on second time when they login after upgrade.
We are prety much confident that the authorisation is not an issue here.  Not sure about the GUI.
Pls help me to understand the possible resons for this error and how we can fix it.
    Thanks,
    Nanvakanth

    Morning Experts,
I have the same problem while opening the Query Designer or the WebApplicationDesigner in 3.5 or 7.0 it doesn`t matter....
If I open a query with BEX and go to customize mode of the query --> the querydesigner will be open correctly --> very strange!
Could anybody have a solution for this issue?
    Kind regards

  • Error when opening query in BEx Analyzer BI7

    Hi all,
I get the following error when I open a query in the Analyzer.
<b>Unable to convert character set 4103 to character set 4103. possible.</b>
    Afterwards it closes the connection.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Meurant.

    Hi Meurant,
Most likely it is a mismatch between your Client GUI and sever.eps
The following steps helped in some cases.
    1) Uninstall the SAP GUI on your m/c.
    2) Upgrade all you operating system patches to the required level...If it's Windows XP.....just
get the latest updates from Microsoft.
    3) Re-install  GUI for  7.0
    Good luck, BB

  • Query opening problem in Bex analyzer

    Hi Gurus,
I am getting this particular problem when trying to open same query from two different systems.
I work from my home system on a query and save it and when i try to open the same query through my office system it throws out an error
" this Query was opened in a higher version or diferent version " . It doesnt allow me to open.
Please let me know if anyone faced the same problem and how did they solve it?
    thanks
    regards
    satish

    Satish,
The reason must be one from the below.
Either the excel version at home is advanced to that of your office,
or The SAP front- end level may be different.
Agian if you are working on the same system both at office and at home, it sometimes relates to the servers you logged into and the settings yo have on those servers.

  • SAP Bex Analyzer (Netweaver 7.1) Opens workbooks twice when starting.

We just upgraded from bex 3.5 to 7.1, and have set it to open the Analyzer whenever excel starts.  But now whenever we open an excel workbook it opens each workbook twice.  We have one file in the XLSTART folder that loads in macro's but just opens a blank workbook.  The file we are opening has code that sets calculation to manual and prompts the user that it has set to manual.
Whenever we open a file, it promps the user twice about setting it to manual, but only 1 workbooks pops up (because excel only allows one workbook with the same name to be open at a time), but we also get two blank workbooks that open up because the file in the XLSTART folder is being opened twice as well.
Has anyone else seen this problem with workbooks being opened twice, or attempting to be opened twice with bex analyzer 7.1?

What version of SAP-GUI are you using ? SAP-GUI 7.2 (latest version) was heavily rewritten using Visual Studio and SAP has stated that certain features that existed in earlier SAP-GUI versions are no longer available (it's Microsoft's Fault). It is also quite possible that your initial launch macro in Excel is causing the problem.
I would personally recommend that you do NOT launch Bex Analyzer when Excel opens, unless this is  your primary method to interact with Bex workbooks and such. That may resolve your issue.

  • Error when launching BEx analyzer from Portals

    BI Gurus...
We are working on an initiative to migrate our user interface from SAP GUI to Enterprise Portal.
Bex Analyzer is primary mode of reporting at this time.
After importing the Roles into EP, I am able to execute the web queries successfully, in the BEx Wen analyzer. But, I get an error when I click on any of the excel workbooks. Our expectation was that once we click on the excel workbook name, the BEx analyzer will launch from EP. But it seems like the issue is with launching BEx Analyzer from BI Portal.
Has anyone faced this issue before?
Is it possible to launch BEx Analyzer from EP?
Are their some key portal settings we have missed out on to enable launching BEx analyzer from EP?
    Please provide your thoughts/experience.
    Thanks,
    Ajay.

    Hi WernerS,
    Thanks for your response.
The RRMXP Transaction works and it launching the BEx Analyzer as expected.
Now, as per our research, I think there are 2 ways of launching BEx analyzer from BI Portals.
    1) Call via a URL
You can call BEx Analyzer via the following URL: http(s)://<server:port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/rsr_bex_launch/bexanalyzerportalwrapper.htm
You can modify the URL to open BEx Analyzer with either a workbook, a query or a query view. You can use the following parameters to do this:
    ●      Parameter to open the workbook: ?WBID=<wb_id>
I have tried calling via URL iView, but instead of launching the BEx Analyzer, it just throws a dialog box to "save" or "open" a file, RRMX.bex. When I try to open this file, it says "Invalid File Format".
I tried opening the file in notepad and I see the following parameters passed.
               test
               Data=BX2,CONAJP,EN,mikoyan,17,,,250,
               9
Any clue about what I am doing wrong?
    2) Calling via a Transaction
You can generate BEx Analyzer in Portal Content Studio as an SAP Transaction iView.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.app integrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction Code (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
    ●      The Transaction Code for all workbooks is RRMXP.
    ●      The ApplicationParameter property contains the value WBID=<WORKBOOK_ID>.
I have tried this approach as well. When I open this iView, I see the RRMXP transaction in the Internet explorer, but the workbooks still does not open in the BEx Analyzer (Excel)
Any thoughts on where am I going wrong ?
    Thanks,
    Ajay.

  • BEx Analyzer 3.5 and 7.0 compatability

    Hello,
I've been reading a lot of threads but it still isn't clear.
    1. If workbooks are created in BEx Analyzer 3.5 and users open it in BEx Analyzer 7.0 (NW version), would that automatically get converted into a 7.0 workbook and lose the ability to open in 3.5?
    2. If query is created in 3.5 and then if it is opened in 7.0 and subsequently saved in 7.0, would we be able to still create workbooks in 3.5 based on that query?
    Thanks,
    Karthik

    Hi Anita,
If you open a 3.x query in 7.0 it does NOT change the query technical name.
But yes if you have opened the query once in 7.0 you cannot open it in 3.x later. If you want to reopen 7.0 BEx queries back in 3.x BEx follow the below steps.
    1) Goto se38.
    2) put program name COMPONENT_RESTORE
    3) Click "Display"
    4) Click "Direct Processing" button from set of buttons available above the program.
    5) It wil ask for "Info Provider" & "Comp. Type"
    6) Put your concerned "Info Provider" and "Comp. Type" is "REP".
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks,
    Mihir

  • Macro not working in BEx Analyzer

Can you please explain why my Macro is not working?
We're on BI 7 with Excel 2007. I have done the following:
    1) Open Workbook from BEx Analyzer and the result display on the worksheet. The was inserted in C10 and therefore, the result was display from C10 onwards.
    2) I have created a Macro with the following code:
    Sub Macro1()
    ' Macro1 Macro
        Range("C5").Select
        With Selection.Interior
            .Pattern = xlSolid
            .PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic
            .Color = 65535
            .TintAndShade = 0
            .PatternTintAndShade = 0
        End With
    End Sub
    3) When click to run the Macro manually, I can see the color of C5 is changed.
    4) Now I have include this Marcro in Workbook Setting ->Exits tab, Run Macro on Refresh. Here I enter my Marco name.
    5) In Workbook Setting ->General tab, I also set the Refresh Workbook on Open option.
    6) I have also set the Trust Center setting: select Trust access to the VBA project and Enable all macros.
    7) Then I save the Workbook.
    8) when I re-open the Workbook, the color of C5 is not change!!!
    Can you please help.

    Aglukas,
Thanks again. I understand the name of the Macro can be anything and this is how to create the Macro:
    1) Run workbook, the query result display on the screen.
    2) In Excel 2007, I click on Developer tab ->Macro.
    3) Enter Macro name (Macro1) and click on Create button.
    4) I have VB editor open with following:
    Sub Macro1()
    End Sub
    5) So added the following code to Macro routine in VBA Module:
    Sub Macro1()
    With ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Sheet1")
    Stop
    .Activate
    .Cells(15, 1).Interior.Color = RGB(220, 254, 250)
    End With
    End Sub
    6) I then added the Macro1 to Workbook Setting ->Exit tab, and click on Add Macro button.
When I run/refresh the workbook, I didn't get into debug mode at all!!!
What is wrong in above steps?
    Please advice, thanks.

  • Need to provide certain informations within BEX Analyzer

    Hi folks,
we need to provide certain information to users being connected over BEX Analyzer ...
Is there any way to write a custom help text or to provide some kind of info box or pop up or something similar to the info box on the SAP logon screen or anything else that can be used to inform users of certain things ?
Tricky thing is, that we don't want a permanent pop up appearing every time the user logs on to the analyzer. It's supposed to be more like something that the user can open every time he wants to look up the information or alternatively a permanent info text somewhere on the screen or maybe under the system information that one can open up under Bex Analyzer ...
Or how about adding a new (custom) button to the BEX Toolbar opening an information window ? Is that possible ?
Any idea what could be done to accomplish this ?
    Regards
    Thomas

    Hi,
Is it an idea to make one or more  Excel Comment fields in your template
Like directly under your company logo using a row with Excel cells with subjectnames and adding the documentation as comments in there?

  • BEx Analyzer for Power Users

    Hi
My Power users have been given access to design their queries in Bex Designer and publish via the web.
For no reason, they don't have access to run their queries via Bex Analyzer. I am trying to push for them to have access to Bex Analyzer but I need some concrete reasons for them to be able to have this. I have always been a fan of being able to develop in BEx and immediately view in BEx
Can anyone think of advantages or reasons why the Power Users should view in Bex Analyzer?

The BEx Analyzer would give the users the power of BW and with it the power of XL. This could be a very good option when one is faced with a very rigid formatting requirement. One can use the BEx/workbook combination to design a formatted report which could otherwise have not been possible with the web. Of course some formatting features are as I understand are provided with the new report designer in NW04s, but XL could still be powerful for this.
Some developments in BW could be avoided if we use XL like when you have to manipulate data from multiple areas and queries. For instance, you could have a sales query, a Finance query and even a purchasing query in a workbook and do some calculations with the data. If you were to do it in the QAD, you might have to have created a multicube with all the above and then write a query.
In addition to that one can use the macro feature of xl and carry out further formatting/analysing/processing of the data
    Cheers
    Anand

  • BI 7.0 Business explorer / analyzer Can't open queries

Hi, I recently upgrade our 3.0B sandbox to BI 7.0.  When I run "start" -> "Programs" -> Business explorer -> analyzer Excel bex tool launches but when I click  on the folder to open queries (Offnen open) Nothing comes up.  However, if I am logged into the BI 7.0 system and lanuch RRMX excel comes up with the Business explorer tool bar.  I re-read the upgrade guide and could not find out if I am supposed to run a conversion program or this is the default behavior.
    Thanks in Advance
    --- Steve

Hi PG.  When I run transaction RRMX from within SAP gui while logged into BI 7.0, Excel launches and I get the Business Explorer tool bar. I have the options "open" "save" "refresh query"  Back" "change query" "goto" "Olap Functions ..." "format" "layout"  "tools"  "settings" and "help"   Under Settings I don't have "Launch Legacy Version from RRMX".
I clicked on help -> about and it showing me finall release 3.5.  Shouldn't it read 7.0?
The installation of sap gui with BW add on was done with DVD 50083078 SAP NetWaver 2004s presentation SAP GUI for Windows 7.10 comp 1.
If I click on "Start" "All Programs" "Business Explorer"  "Business Explorer (SAP BW 3.x) -> Analyzer (BW 3.x) it's also showing version release 3.5 but the Business explorer tool bar is there.  If from the excel menu I click Business Explorer -> Installation check I get the message 12 red signed Files found , 14 yellow signed Files found, please check SAPSETUP.LOG in c:\windows.  See note 197460 from more details.   I can't find the sapsetup.log anywhere (supposed to be under c:\windows).   Note 197460 refers to the check I just ran.   The note also mentions Red files have to be manually registered, so it looks like I will either have to find a newer release or have a lot of work to do

  • BeX-Analyzer : no visible role and working-sheets created bei querie

    Hello experts,
after creating new working-maps under a role, i can't find it anywhere for the next day.
    For example: After launch BeX-Analyzer 7.0 -- then open working-map -- then connect over BW/BI Developer-System -- then
roles. I can't find my saved user-working-maps or local objects who are saved one day before. They were under the "PFCG-created"
    user-role : "example :Z_Role_External_".
When i open the map : QUERIES, i have the include for user-role and can manage and call the designed sheets
    in my workaround.
In this case one more information that happens before this items. In the last week i had patched the BW-BI 7.0 with then following patches.
    SAPKA70020
    SAPKB70021
    SAPKA70021
    KIPYJ7K und KIPYJ7L
    SAPKW70022
    SAPKW70023
After this action i heard from this problem in BW-BI "No User-Role and no Test-working-maps" under my User-Profile.
Have anybody an idea to solve this problem ?
