Opening text docs (Dropbox) editing, saving?

What is a good workflow/app for this?(I'm not a Pages fan, but if I have to...)

There are other apps available that are suposed to be more "Word friendly" or comaptible than Pages is. I have never tried any of them myself. I use Pages and it has served my very simple needs just fine.
Google "iPad word processing apps" and you will find that there are other choices out there.

or if you have an other format (other than key-value based) for you configuration file, just use java's io package to manipulate the data:

When I click on Pages I get an old document and the spinning wheel, I can't create a new doc, open another doc, or edit the one that does open, what do I do now?

I go to the Pages application and click on it, and instead of getting the normal Pages menu I get an old Pages document and the spinning wheel. I can't open the menu bar, can't create a new document, can't open another document, can't access the menu. All that happens is the spinning wheel, it's been thirty minutes now and it's still spinning

Menu > Apple > Force Quit… > Pages
Try opening Pages with the shift key held down.
To escape what is happening in Pages if you can't get at the menu, click on your Desktop then come at the Apple menu by sliding around from top right.

I saved docs from a iMac to a flashdrive but when I plug the flashdrive into an iBookG4 and try to open the docs on the flashdrive, I get this message: Doc 2 cannot be opened. The required index.xml file is missing.

It appears if you write the document with newer version Pages and try to open it older version Pages.

I have a suspicion you're working with a scanned document that has had OCR run to recognize the text. The recognized text may be stored on an invisible layer above the image of the text, and that is what you're toucing up. It's invisible, so you don't see it, but retains the changes, so exporting produces the new edits.
When you run OCR to recognize scanned text,, try using the ClearScan option, instead of Searchable Text. See this help page on Acrobat (this is for version X, but still applies):

Right click > Open with and choose the program to open it.

I recently updated my OS to OS X. I had to update my word and powerpoint etc... to 2011 version, but now when I want to open a .doc file made in word 2003 it removes all the text in it! I did not back anything up!

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. After saving texts on pictures, I can't edit the text at all???? Can saved text even be edited????

When you look in your layers palette is the layer thumbnail a capital T? If it isn't, the text is simplified and can't be edited with the text tool.
Edit: If the thumbnail has a capital T, make a note of the font and size. Then reset the Text Tool. It may be corrupt.I didn't catch which version of PSE you have. To reset the tool, select the Text tool and look in the options bar. In older versions of Elements the reset will be the first T on the options bar...not the tool box. It will be a different color than other menu items. Click and select "Reset Tool". If you have PSE 7, Look in the menu bar for a tiny arrow...first or second thing in the options bar with the text tool selected. Click the tiny arrow and select "Reset Tool". If this does not work, next reset the application preferences.
If it's merged with your photo, you'll have either start from scratch or repair the photo either by using the clone stamp or covering the area with a copy of some "good photo". How you repair really depends on the photo.
Sometimes you get lucky and can just marquee some good area and feather the selection edges and use the good to cover the lettering.
Sometimes you can select the letters, expand the selection by 1-2 pixels and then use that selection to copy material to cover the letters.
Other times you need to do as Hatstead suggests and use the clone stamp to cover the area.

My phone has been hacked - opening texts, editing items and typing URLs

Something crazy is going on with my iphone. So far today it has done all of the following when it has been sat on a table, with nothing near it, and nothing touching it:
- opening text messages and scrolling through them
- entering my contacts and editing (deleting items and selecting new images)
- entering my photo gallery and selecting images
- opening search
- opening safari and connecting to the internet
- opening notes and copying and pasting items
- opening call history and calling people from my 'last dialled'
earlier when i was logged into twitter it sent to tweets - i lost all control of the screen. The first said 'En' and the second said 'E' (not anything dramatic) - but i had no control of it and had to turn it off and restart.
I reset all the factory settings but it's made no difference. I've since removed the sim card and turned the phone off - but i don't know if this is enough.
In addition to this - it was plugged into my mac syncing yesterday. Today when I turned my mac on, the green light next to the webcam will not go off - should I be worried about this?
Any advice or help is gratefully received!

When did you drop it (possibly into water)? Sounds like the digitizer is randomly generating taps/presses/swipes. Time to visit the Genius Bar and find out what the replacement is going to cost.

Saving a LinkedList into a text doc using bufferwriter

I'm having some problem attempting to save my linked into a text doc(.txt). By using the scanner class i to read another text doc and have it put each work in that document as an single element in the linkedlist. But when i try to write the linked list into a text doc it only writes the last word / element that is in the linkedlist into a text document. How do i get my bufferwriter or filewrite to same all the words and prehaps in a format that i want?

say i wanted to add a numbering system for each linkedlist item, i've used another for loop to try and attempt this but what happens is that it loops too much.
eg what i wanted was something like

but what happens is

Can't open word doc that is a locked form

I received a word doc in which the main text is locked, it contains form fields and those can be updated and saved. I tried to open this in Pages '09, it started, I got the progress bar, but as it got close to the end, Pages hung and I had to force quit.
I'm running 10.6.1 and Pages 4.0.3 (766) - I checked Software Update to make sure I had the latest of everything.
Is there a way to access this document using Pages? Is this a bug? or is it an explicitly unsupported capability?

Microsoft inserted a propection scheme in their program.
It's not the job of Apple engineers to do reverse engineering to remove the key.
If someone send you a document that you must edit, it's it's duty to send you an unprotected doc … or buy for you a copy of Office so you will be able to open the doc if he give you the key.
In short, there is no bug but a logical deliberate feature.
I would be surprised to read that Microsoft offer to their customers a key to open encrypted Apple disk images.

You may delete Numbers 08 if you wish, but some folks like keeping it around. Close all your Numbers docs and Quit the Numbers app, and the other Numbers app if necessary.Then click the Numbers icon on your doc. Then select Numbers > About Numbers, and in the window that pops up, see which version it is. If the Dock icon started Numbers 08, you can cure that by dragging that icon off the Dock and letting it go in a puff of virtual smoke.
Now, to put the Numbers 09 icon on the Dock, double-click one of those known Numbers 09 documents so that Numbers 09 starts up. Verify by checkig Numbers > about Numbers.
Now click and hold the Numbers Dock icon and select the Option for Keep in Dock.
