Options for auditing data changes

Hi Friends,
I thought I will get some inputs on my following implementation. The requirement is to audit some data changes with in the system.( Oracle 10.2 on RHEL 4.7 )
The audit is required in a sense that, the before images of data and information of who changed the data is required. I have looked at options like Oracle Auditing,FGA and so. But this cannot give me audit for the data changes,when and who changed.
The first thing that comes into my mind are using triggers . Another option is using log miner. I have successfully tested it out with both of these approaches. The environment is like
1 ) For some critical tables for which audit is required triggers were written ( ours is an OLTP application )
2 ) For some non critical tables, log miner which was called by a stored procedure which runs at certain periods is used.
3 ) audit data is stored in a different schema , with same table names as in base schema.
I would like to know your thoughts on this.

The delay with log miner is acceptable with some less critical audit tables and as you said, tirggers can be implemented for some critical tables.
One bottleneck with using logminer is that it depends on the availability of archived redo logs, the backup mechanism if any implemented should make sure that, no archive logs are removed from the locations specified for the audit program. The backup mechanism should ensure that all archived logs are processed by periodically running audit program which uses log miner.
Wondering if there is any other recommended approach for this.

Standard tcode for (mass) data change of internal orders or ... ??

Hi!
I really need some info if there by any chance SAP has standard transaction for mass data change of internal orders (more particular, distribution rules in settlement rule section, which can be found in <b>KO02 transaction</b> ).
I am trying to change distribution rules for settlement receivers in <b>settlement rule section</b>, that is finish past distribution rules by filling TO PERIOD and TO FISCAL YEAR fields on the right of each rule, and then entering new rules (which i get from external source -flat file, ms excel, csv...).
If i wanted to import data in SAP i guess i would have to develop a Batch Input. But that would take me some time to develop because it is pretty complicated.
I found tcode KO08 but i do not really know how to use it. Maybe there is another tcode that i am not aware of?
I would appreciate any suggestions!

Hi Srilakshimi,
If you are familiar with MASS transaction, then you can modify User Responsible field for Internal Orders from transaction KOK2.
As first step you must create a selection variant in order to define which orders you want to modify. Once selection variant was created, excute transaction with it and you'll get a screen similar to MASS transaction. Select the field you want and massively replace it. Do not forget to save.

Delta Option for Generic Data Source

Hi ,
My requirement is Delta Option for Generic Data Source. This Data Source is getting Extracted from Function Module.
For this requirement I have followed below steps.
1) Added the Field (On which Delta gets enabled) to the extract structure by using Append Structure
2) Enabled Delta On this Filed.
3) If I try to save the Data Source, I have gone to a screen where I am able to see 4 coloumns
a) Selection
b) Hide Field
c) Inversion
d) Filed Only known in User Exit.
By default Hide Field and Filed Only known in User Exit check boxes have been checked.
Would you please tell what is the use of Filled Only known in User Exit check biox.
As My data source is getting the data buy using the Function Module, Shall I uncheck this Check Box.

The "FIELD" should be checked if we write any enhancement in CMOD, so that system can identify that this particular field has enhancement written to it,
But even in real time systems i usually find that even though we check the "FIELD" or not , there is no effect .
So Checking "FIELD" or not will not impose any isses .

Sign up for Google's paid Apps for Business service, you can then set things up using Exchange & you'll get push using Gmail. Otherwise, you can't get push using Gmail.

RDA for Transactional Data Changes (But needs to load as Master Data to IO)

Hi,
I would like to use RDA to load Data changes into IO (Not for DSO).
I tried using this, i can able to load data into PSA. But, from PSA to IO, No datapackage is getting transfered. i.e. Transfered records = 0.
We considered several options i.e. remote cubes etc. We need to implement RDA.
Note: I have gone through the Documentation on RDA. Which SAP mentioned, RDA won't support for Master Data if we have aggregates. We don't have any Aggregates build on my cubes.

RDA DTP is used for supplying data to the Data Store Objects but not to the Master data infoobjects...

Open Transactions in ECC for Master Data changes in MDM

Hi All,
I have a basic Design question on how to handle the impact of Data changes in MDM for any open transactions with that Master object. For eg if we have a Material set up in MDM and in ECC and there are open Purchase Orders for that Material, now if the Base Unit of Measure is changed in MDM and gets harmonized to ECC(After Workflow approval of the Change) how will it impact the PO attached to the material . Can we do any configuration in ECC that will restrict any Open PO s not to take the new changed value and any new POs taking up the new Base Unit of Measure , or can we set up an alert/notification that will trigger for a PO whenever any Master Data is changed and the PO takes the new changed value on the fly . What will be the best approach from a solution point of view .

Hi Prabuddha,
In ECC if a change happens to a master data not all the changes are reflected automatically in the open documents like open PO or open Sales order. Some fields values have to be redetermined for eg: "pricing procedure", some of them needs to be changed manually for eg: "Description". Moreover specific to your eg of Base unit of measure, this is a sensitive field and has lot of impact on the process so there for changing such fields it is necessary to close all the open documents against the Master data record in consideration. This fact is regardless whether the change happens through an IDoc or directly by MM02/XK02/XD02

So my old phone (Samsung Intensity) broke today, and I'm looking to upgrade to a smartphone. I would prefer an iPhone, but really it's not that big of a deal if I get a Droid. Report for basic dates change in maintenance order

Dear friends,
Client requirement is to see the orders for which basic dates have been changed. The scenario is when preventive maintenance is done , if the work cannot be done on the date(basic date in maintenanc eorder), the basic date is changed for a convenient time. They want to have a report showing all the ordres for which the basic dates have been changed and the changed dates detail( ie. initial basic date, changed basic dates).

Once you get the Change Document header data from CDHDR you will then need to get the change details from CDPOS.
Have a look at program RSSCD200 via TCode SE38.
There may well be a suitable function module for this...

Table for table data changes log

Hello,
The data in the table T016 was updated with new records.
I want to know the log for the table data changes. In the table's technical settings the check box "Log data changes" was checked and Delivery Class is 'C'.
I tried with SCU3 transaction, but it is saying no log for the table.
And also i checked the tables DBTABLOG,DBTABPRT. But there are no records available.

usually system parameter rec/client should be enabled to store table changes - this is the reason you can't see table changes in dbtablog table.

Is Multimaster Timesten replication a good option for huge data volumes?

Hi,
There are 3 timesten nodes in our production setup .There will be around 5 million rows in each node initially which will gradually increase to about 10 million.Once our application moves to production, there will be around 50-70 transactions per second in each node , which need to be replicated on to the other node.
Initially we thought of going with Active-Standby-Subscriber replication.However in this case if active and standby node go down,then it will be a site failure case.So is Active-Active (Multimaster replication) configuration a good option ? Will data collision happen when replication happens in both directions?

Multi-master replication is rarely a good idea. You will get data collisions unless you rigorously partition the workload. Conflict detection and resolution is not adequate to guarantee consistency over time. Recovery back to a consistent state after a failure is complex and error prone. I'd strongly advise against a multi-master setup, especially for a high volume system.
You seem to be concerned that 2 out of the 3 systems may fail resulting in a site outage. The likelihood of that is small if you have set things up with separate power etc. With the A/S pair based approach you would still have query capability if the two master systems failed. The chances of all 3 systems failing is not that much less than of just 2 failing in reality I would say (depending on the reason for the failure).

I have a requirement where I need to give a screen with the fields of
| Customer|.Material | Enduser | Market | Market Segment | . Customer & Enduser is Compounter to Material. and Maket & Market Segment are Attribute of Material Master( Z Object).
We are using these objects in COPA Cube. Market & Market Segment are NA. There are millions of records in Customer / Material /End user combination. But there is no data maintained for Market & Market Segment.
We want to maintain where there is any sale happend for Customer Material and Enduser combination.
I created a Query to filtered the record with sales fall in this period with out market & Market segment. And used APD to updated it to DSO.
Now i want it to present to User to enter the data in the Market & Market Seg fields for the Material/Customer/Enduser combination.
Please let me know your thoughts on this. We are trying to build a WEB DYNPRO for this. But will a Dynpro will accept the data and change/update it in the backend table ?
Points are sure for proper guidance.

In terms of Complexity .. I would rate the following in this order :
1. BSP
2. WDA
3. WDJ / VC
(* I have not worked in WDA and hence this ranking )
In terms of Presentability :
1. VC
2. WDA / WDJ
3. BSP
The main reason being that BSP renders in Plain HTML and you can make the BSP interesting and more presentable using Embedded flash objects / HTMLB etc ... I am referring to plain BSP Pages .
The rendering options are much better in WDA and VC would give you a better front end ... but then VC does not lend itself into a User Entry tool - bbut more of a reporting / display tool....
You can use BSP and formatting options not withstanding - you can just create a WDA with Flash Islands .... to make the most of both worlds...
I am not sure if this is simple in VC - you might have to get into the JCO conections etc for making the field editable. WDA with flash islands is much more manageable but then forthis you need to be in EHP1...

I am looking for SAP Note to fix it. Here data is changed KNA1-Name1 but output shows the Error message..
