Hi,
We have created a DB link from *11gR2* (+64-bit Windows 2008R2+) to *8.0.4* (+32-bit Windows NT+), but when we try to fetch data from the 8.0.4 db using the created dbLink we getting this following Error.
Error: ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channelThere is no alert log error except application timeout error.
Kindly advice me.

ORA-02068; ORA-03113 ::DB Link Problems
Hi,
I have created a DB Link from to our client database MARS & i have named it as "MARS_DATA".
But my problem is whenever i query the data using 2 tables in it with a proper join condition using DB Link i am getting the following error.
ORA-02068: following severe error from MARS_DATA
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
NOTE:
Whenever i query the MARS database with a single table in it i am getting the data.(Using DB Link only)
Most surprising thing for me is when i am trying to execute the Errored out query after running the above it is working fine!!!
Can you help me in resolving this issue?

DB Link issue between 8i and 11g
Hi, We have developed the shell script to connect oracle 11g database and do something and then update the oracle 8i database tables using the DB link. We have created the Public DB link in Oracle 11g database.
When we execute the script manually everything works fine. But while executing the same script using the LINUX - crontab the script failed to execute the DB link and throws the below error message
Error Message:
=========
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified Error loading the files
Anyone come accross this error before? please help

How about Easysoft ODBC-Oracle Driver?

does this driver will permit me to create a DB link between 11g and 8i?
Thanks
Since it is not possible to prove a negative, you are left with the challenge to prove me wrong.
If you can make it work, then I was incorrect.

Dynamic Link issues between Pr and Ae
Hey Guys -
We have had issues with our dynamic link since the last update to Premiere CC 45 days ago. Two different iMacs, one 2010 and the other late 2012 are both having these issues. Regardless of system, we weren't having the issue before the most recent update.
The issue we are having is as follows:
If we create a composition in Ae and bring it into Pr using dynamic link, it's completely fine, you can see it in the Source window as you should. But as soon as we drop it on the timeline in a sequence, it requires us to render both in Pr and back in Ae before it will display in the sequence. And ironically, you don't have to render the exact dynamic linked composition back in Ae, but any old render of any of your compositions will then allow you push through the stumbling render in Pr and so you can display the composition on the Pr timeline.
The problem furthers when you begin to edit again and have to redo the entire rendering process if you make one move anywhere on your timeline. We've found this renders dynamic link useless as it's more time effective to just render out the composition in Ae everytime you make a change than have to deal with these troubles. Really frustrating as we love DL and used it constantly before the most recent Pr update.
And as an FYI, we are not doing big effects, these are simple lower thirds and titles that we are doing here. Very little processing power required.
Is there any fix in the works or is anyone else struggling with this? Seems too ironic that two separate systems are dealing with the same issue...I had the same issue with dynamic link...the files would become unlinked and required a manual re-linking of each clip. Mostly happened with MXF media from my Panasonic P2 camera, Here is a workaround that so far has worked:
1. Use Raylight (I use this software all the time when I edit with fcp 7) to create a QT reference file from MXF media. It's super quick too...takes about 15 seconds to generate the aliases from a 64 GB card with tons of clips.
2. Import these QT ref files into PP CC and edit like normal. It seems to trick the software into thinking you are working with .MOV files and not MXF media which seem to be problematic in Premiere/After Effects.
Hope this helps.... -

Asking help Urgently..
We need to create a DB link from 7.3 to 10g. After initial problems, the DB link is finally established and we can query and do DML on the 10g DB from 7.3. using SQLPLUS.
Now the problem: We want to create triggers on tables in 7.3 DB to insert the same rows in 10g DB using the DB Link. The moment we create the trigger the connection is dropped with the error: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel. We tried to write the insert statement inside a procedure/function but still the same problem.
Please help as we are desperate to find a solution for the said problem. The objective is to be able to insert a row in 10g (DB Linked) Database based on a trigger fired in 7.3 Database (Reference DB). Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks and regards.
Rajeev.I know that 7.x to 10g is not supported officially and should not be used in production environment.
But in our case, we need it for a short duration (duration of Parallel run) and my query is that, if I am able to do inserts from the SQLPLUS using the said DB Link, then why this cannot be done thru a procedure or a trigger.
if anyone has an explanation or workaround, it will be great.

Ed,
Edited by: 852611 on May 24, 2013 8:27 AMI've had some problems in the past with in-doubt transactions with a DB link to a Sybase database. I can imagine it is more difficult for Oracle to manage transactions over a DB link if the the database is not Oracle. Especially with SQL Server/Sybase that do their own commit by default. Might that be the case here?
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channelThis also indicates a network problem.

ORA-02068+ORA-03113 on database link
Hi all
I have the following scenario:
The application is connecting to DB (Oracle 10.2.0.5) using jdbc connection pool.
The database is a 3-node RAC.
Using DB Link we access a PLSQL package on a remote database (10.2.0.4).The remote database is a single instance.
The remote database is not located behind FW.
Sometimes the remote DB is restarted, but we seem to hit these errors about 30 mins afterwards.
From time to time we get these errors and we cant find the root cause.
Any ideas how to address this?
Thanks,

I'm a newbie, I installed Oracle on my computer. In the installation, Oracle allows to create a database. I didn't change any setting information, excepted set the database's password.
Oracle was successul installed.
The database setup (wizard) failed.
The listener was not created.
When the wizard step run "Creation and starting an Oracle instance", I get ORA-03113.
I don't know the log I sent to you is the good log. I'm not sure. My database name is "Essai1"
Do it is some files that I could send to you?
thanks for your help.

I currently run two 7.3.4 databases linked with a public database link. Every now and then my cobol process on my first db aborts due to ora-03113 while access my second db via the link. I restart the cobol process, and it works fine. It does not appear to correlate to and db or network events. Both are on same host (unix 11). first has shared pool size 10 x that of second-does that matter?

Here's a bizarre sql issue that throws ORA-03113: end-of-file on communicat
This query is generated by an application. I know the sql is poorly written, but what's bizarre is what happens when I run it.
Here's the SQL:
select * from etk_group og where exists ( select g.group_id as id from etk_group g
left outer join etk_subject_role sr on sr.subject_id = g.group_id
left outer join etk_role r on r.role_id = sr.role_id
left outer join etk_role_permission rp on rp.role_id = r.role_id
where (rp.permission_key = 'permission' or rp.permission_key like 'permission.tracking%') and g.group_id = og.group_id);
I've already given the developers a changed version that works, but here's the part I don't understand. When it's run as is I get the Ora-03113, but if I change the alias in the subquery select to og (the outer query alias), this sql runs. What is it about selecting the subquery column that is used in the where portion of the exists that makes oracle 9.2.0.1 on windows 2003 enterprise server lose the connection.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.You're using an unpatched base release and simply hitting a bug that causes the server foreground process that serves your request to fail with an exception that causes the operating system to kill the corresponding process (e.g. segment access violation, general protection fault, you name it).
As a workaround use the rewritten query you've already found out but you should consider to install at least the 9.2.0.8 patch set to prevent most of such nasty bugs in the future.

ther is a lot of reasons for this issue I suggest that you try to do some action to try to understand where is the problem:
1. Change the connection string to contain only the schema parameter (no pooling parameters).
2. Change the select to return only 1:

if this result will not return the value that means that the problem is in the SQL/Procedure

Since 10202 to 11 is not SAP supported, we upgrade from 10.2.0.4 first before upgrade to 11
10202 to 10204 upgrade finished fine. All post upgrade sql files are run without any issues.
During 10204 to 11202 upgrade, at 42% complete the Database Upgrade Assistant gives
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Upgrade failed due to running the step "Upgrading Oracle Server"
The upgrade was repeated and it always gets the same error at the same spot.
Once the error occurs, if I try to rerun the upgrade script, it complains that objects already exist.
Looking at the \oracle\cfgtoollogs\dbua\<SID>\upgrade1 directory, I see the log file which shows at the end of the file:
GRANT INSERT ON sys.impdp_stats TO PUBLIC
2 /
Grant succeeded.
GRANT DELETE ON sys.impdp_stats TO PUBLIC

Grant succeeded.

ERROR:
So the problem is at running dbms_objects_utils.upgrade_dict_image procedure
"This procedure upgrades the type dictionary images from 8.0 to 8.1. The dictionary tables that could be in 8.0 are kottd$, kottb$, kottbx$, kotad$ and kotmd$, which existed in 8.0 or 8.1, when 8.0 compatibility was possible, kotadx$ was created in 9iR2 when we required 8.1 minimum compatibility. The source code is fully exposed for both package header and body."
/rdbms/admin/dbmsobj.sql
If I try to run that same procedure within SQLPlus (after the upgrade failed), I get the error message ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object. This tells me that the upgrade script actually created the newer version of the dictionary images, but for some reason failed to complete. And so when I re-run the upgrade script, it complains.
We've searched google, SAP Notes, sdn, etc. but havent gotten anywhere. Help or hints would be greatly appreciated.
ThanksHI,
Check below details from oracle Metalink.
Curtesy of Oracle Metalink
A1) Errors connecting as SYSDBA / Internal OR on startup nomount
There is something fundamental wrong with the software / environment
if you cannot connect to Server Manager as a DBA user.
The steps here cover errors such as ORA-3113, ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
or similar errors connecting to Oracle or starting the instance NOMOUNT.
Check the following items:
A1.1) If possible reboot the server disabling any automatic
startup of Oracle before you do so. This may seem drastic
but helps make sure you are working from a consistent
starting point.
A1.2) Check your environment points at the expected ORACLE_HOME
and ORACLE_SID and that TWO_TASK is not set (Unix) or
LOCAL is not set (NT registry).
Check the USER_DUMP_DEST and BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST and default
trace directories under this environment for any user trace
files or alert log entries generated. These may help indicate
the cause of the problem.
Eg: ORA-600[SKGMINVALID] may indicate a problem with the
shared memory Unix parameters on Unix systems.
Try to show that any trace file / alert log entry you
find is truely related to the "CONNECT" command by re-issuing
the "connect" and checking for a new trace file / alert entry
at the time of the error.
A1.3) Unix only:
Some Unix platforms need LD_LIBRARY_PATH to be set
correctly to resolve any dynamically linked libraries.
As the user with the problem:
% script /tmp/ldd.out
% id
% cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
% ldd oracle
% exit
If the 'ldd' command does not exist go to the next step below.
Check that all lines listed show a full library file. If there
are any 'not found' lines reported contact Oracle support
with the output of /tmp/ldd.out .
A1.4) Unix only:
Your 'oracle' executable may be corrupt. Relink it thus:
Log in as the 'oracle' user.
% script /tmp/relink.out
% cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
% mv $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle.dd.mon.yy
% rm -f ./oracle
% make -f ins_rdbms.mk ioracle
% exit
Prior to Oracle7.3 the relink command was:
make -f oracle.mk ioracle
If this reports any errors Oracle support will need to see
the contents of the file /tmp/relink.out .
A1.5) Have you installed the Parallel Server Option ?
ORA-3113 can occur if you have installed the Parallel
Server Option but do NOT have a Distributed Lock Manager
installed or running correctly.
Unix:
If the Parallel Server Option was installed by accident
then it can be de-installed by relinking.
Eg:
Shut down any Oracle instances
% script /tmp/relink.out
% cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
'oracle' should not exist so delete it if it present
% rm -f oracle
% make -f ins_rdbms.mk no_parropt ioracle
% exit
NB: Do NOT deinstall the Parallel Server Option if the
database is using Parallel Server unless both nodes
are shut down otherwise database corruption could occur.
A1.6) If the error is on STARTUP NOMOUNT:
Check the init.ora file used to start the database.
This provides the configuration details used
configure the instance. To help isolate the problem
it may be useful use a very basic init.ora file
when starting the instance. If this works then
parameters can be increased / introduced one at a
time to see if there is a problem with a particular
setting.
A1.7) Check for server side trace files which may give more
indication what the underlying problem is.
See section C for details on how to check
for server trace files.
A1.8) Ensure there is free disk space in:
a. Your USER_DUMP_DEST and BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST locations
b. Your AUDIT destination (Unix)
The default is $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/audit
c. Your Oracle Trace directory if Oracle Trace is enabled
See <Note:45482.1>
A2) Errors Mounting the database
Check all the items in A1 first.
If an error occurs when mounting the database there may be problems
with the control-files or data files, or with resources required to
open these files.
A2.1) The location of the control files are specified in the
init.ora file. Try mounting using each controlfile in
turn.
eg: "Shutdown abort",
edit the init.ora to refer to ONE of the controlfiles only,
"startup nomount",
"alter database mount"
Repeat for each controlfile to see if any controlfile works.
A2.2) It is possible to re-create the controlfiles if you know the
location of all datafiles and online logs, or to restore an old
backup controlfile. Always back up the current controlfiles before
restoring any backup copies or issuing a CREATE CONTROLFILE
command.
The steps for this are not documented here.
A2.3) Unix:
Some unix platforms have a 'truss' command (or 'tusc').
If available this can be used to help trace how far Oracle
gets before the error occurs.
Eg:
% truss -o /tmp/truss.out -f svrmgrl
Keep the file /tmp/truss.out safe - Oracle Support MAY need to see it.

SDO_RELATE and ORA-03113 error
Hello,
I am trying to use the SDO_RELATE function and I receive the following error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Using the following SQL
SELECT ufi FROM ROADLINE A
WHERE MDSYS.SDO_RELATE(
A.GEOMETRY, mdsys.sdo_geometry( 2003,null,null,
mdsys.sdo_elem_info_array(1,1003,3),
mdsys.sdo_ordinate_array(132,-12,133,-11)),
'mask=ANYINTERACT querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
A similar search using the SDO_FILTER instead of SDO_RELATE and removing the mask=ANYINTERACT works ok.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks in advance.
GunterHi Gunter,
It looks like there may be other issues. Can you post the version of Oracle you are using, and try debugging just a little bit more to try to narrow the problem down?
This might help to determine which geometry the failure is occuring at:
create table tt as select ufi,geometry
from roadline where rownum < 1;
declare
ufi number ;
window_geom mdsys.sdo_geometry := mdsys.sdo_geometry( 2003,null,null, mdsys.sdo_elem_info_array(1,1003,3),
mdsys.sdo_ordinate_array(132,-12,133,-11));
theGeom mdsys.sdo_geometry ;
TYPE geomcursor is REF CURSOR ;
aCursor geomcursor;
relationship varchar2(30);
begin
open aCursor FOR 'SELECT ufi, geometry from roadline A WHERE SDO_filter( A.GEOMETRY,:WINDOW_GEOM, ''querytype=WINDOW'') = ''TRUE''' using window_geom;
loop
FETCH aCursor INTO ufi, theGeom ;
EXIT WHEN aCursor%NOTFOUND ;
execute immediate 'insert into tt values (:ufi,:theGeom)'
using ufi,theGeom;
execute immediate 'commit';
relationship := sdo_geom.relate(theGeom,'anyinteract',window_geom,0.05);
end loop;
end;
If you see the same error, hopefully it will be determining the relationship between the last geometry in the table tt and the query window. If you can check this, and if this is the case post the geometry that is failing as well as the contents of user_sdo_geom_metadata for roadline that would be great.
