ORA-06502 on Application edit page

I have a strange problem. When I entered the application: page +"Home>Application Builder>Application 106"+ this morning it display the following error where it usually display the lists of pages:
report error:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value
It is the same for all the applications on this user. (I do not have other users with applications so I'm uncertain if it is a user problem or a global problem). If I run the application I can still navigate to a page and edit the page. The only thing that seems to be broken is the page listing on the first page. Any idea how to solve this?

Hi,
This might help
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value

    Scott:
    I have occasionally encountered the same error reported by Stefan after navigating to the APEX builder 'Applciation Builder' page. I was able to make the error go away by changing the 'View' selection to a value other than what the value that the screen was rendered with and then hitting the 'Go' button. This is an APEX 3.1 instance.
    It has been a while since I have worked with this particular APEX instance. I'll remember to post a screen shot and any relevant errors (db alert log, apache log etc) if do see the error again.

  • Application Builder page ORA-06502

    I'm having the same problem as described in this old thread that doesn't seem to have been resolved:
    application builder page error ORA-06502
    After logging in, I click Application Builder and get this error message three times:
    report error:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value
    On the main part of the page where there should be a bunch of icons for each of the applications, and also on the right in the boxes labeled "Recent" and "Application Groups". The URL states that I'm in application 4000, page 1500. Using info from the old thread I tried changing the view option of the report from "Icons" to "Details" and find I am able to see the list of applications this way. I am worried that eventually even this method of reaching my application will become compromised. Anyone know how to fix this issue yet?
    My versions are:
    Application Express 3.2.1.00.12
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options

    So after a while the problem went away by itself, but it's back again and I've noticed another section of APEX that becomes affected when this error starts happening. When I click the icon for Copy Region, instead of a list of region names I get the error message.

  • Application builder page error ORA-06502

    We get an intermittent error with the application builder page of application express. The report that normally shows the icons or rows for each application returns the error "report error:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value". is this a know issue? is there anything we can do to fix it?
    Tom

    Scott,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I will try my best to explain, following is the navigation:
    1. After logging into my workspace --> Click on Application Builder --> Click either on a custom application or sample application --> I get report error: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value (Default View of the pages is set to Details)
    2. If I change the page[s] View to Icons then there is no error.
    3. We bounced the web but still having the error, did not try flushing the shared pool on the server.

    Thanks

  • Version 3.1 fault - ORA-06502 error when creating SQL Report Region/Page

    I usually perfect my query in SQL*PLUS before I create a new report region.
    Consequently, I copy the code into the region wizard to create the new page. However, since we have upgraded to Version 3.1, virtually every report I have tried to create has created the following error:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    It would appear that a maximum of 960 characters can be used to create the region/page. Perversely, once the page/region has been created, I can then edit the source and include as much code as I want (so far I've not run up against a limit)
    As it's just annoying, but not stopping me doing what I wanted to do, I've not got around to mentioning this error previously, but it occurred to me that I should (so I am!)
    David

    Hi David,
    Thank you for reporting this. Unfortunately, this was a regression introduced in Application Express 3.1. The workaround is to edit the region, as you suggested. This has been filed as Bug 6956070 and will be corrected in the forthcoming Application Express 3.1.1 patch set.

  • ORA-06502 on "Help Text" region when changing pages on a tabular form

    Hello everybody,
    We are developing an application on Apex 4.1.0.00.32. This application have some pages with tabular forms and these pages uses a page zero as template. In this page zero, we have added two sidebar regions: a list region to navigate on the application and a help text to describe how to use our application.
    The problem occurs when the tabular split the records into pages (since it has more records that it can show on a single page). When the user clicks to change to another page, Apex raises an ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error as described below:
    Erro ao renderizar a região "Ajuda". ORA-06502: PL/SQL: erro: erro de conversão de caractere em número numérico ou de valor

    Obs: Our database is in Brazilian Portuguese, so I guess it will be hard for some people to understand the first two lines! :)
    We have tried to change the pagination style of the tabular form and change the region model of the help text but the problem still happens.
    Does anyone an ideia about what this may be?
    Thanks in advance!

  • ORA-06502 (character string buffer too small) on import application via script

    Running apex 4.2.2.00.11
    oracle 10.2.0.5
    I'm using a script to import my development application to a few production applications.
    It worked great on apex 4.1.1, but now I get an 'ORA-06502 PL/SQL numeric of value error: character string buffer too small'
    In the command window, I see that the script fails after it starts on the plugins.
    My question: is this a bug in 4.2.2?
    I could be a incompatible plugin, but how can I found out which plugin?
    My script is quite simple:
    In a command window I run
    sqlplus SCHEMA/PASSWORD@SPIEU10 @_IMPORT_F102.sql
    The script is
    declare
    l_workspace_id number;
    begin
        -- determine the workspace id for the workspace FM in the target system
        select workspace_id into l_workspace_id from apex_workspaces where workspace = 'BY_APEX_SHARED';
        -- set the context for the target workspace
        apex_application_install.set_workspace_id( l_workspace_id );
        -- override the original application id 102
        apex_application_install.set_application_id ( 102 );
        -- set a different application name and alias, it should be unique within an APEX instance
        apex_application_install.set_application_alias( 'MY_ALIAS' );
        apex_application_install.set_application_name( 'MY_APP_NAME' );
        -- Use fixed offset
        apex_application_install.set_offset( p_offset => 0);
        -- override the original parsing schema FM with a different value
        apex_application_install.set_schema( 'BY_SCHEMA' );
    end;
    -- install the original application export, now the values for the workspace

    ListAGG throws an ORA-01489 for varchar2 > 4000 bytes
    OP has an ORA-06502 --> the IR is running into a 4k/32k limit.
    quick solution: wrap USER_COMMENTS ListAGG in a substr( ...., 1, 4000)
    Longer solution, use a subquery to modify the comments based on ROW_NUMBER() (ie after nth row, change it to NULL)
    with
    -- simulating data

  • Got error ORA-06502 when creating a report page

    Hi,
    I got ORA-06502 error message when trying to create a report page using one particular query (see below). It happened in the 'SQL Query' step. After put query in the text box and click on 'Next' button, the error message read
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    Exactly same query running in sqlplus session against same database and same schema can run thru fine.

    I'm quite sure, this problem is well known, but I did not find a hint in metalink or the rest of the internet.

    Sorry, the example has not been tested well :(
    But I just had to duplicate the number of columns to get the error both in SqlDeveloper, SqlPlus and (still) imp. That sqlplus and imp have different limits in DDL-size confuses me even more :-/

    Hi,
    This is ' numeric or value error' it may be character to number conversion problem or your assigning character value to number field in the form.....But without source code It's not easy to solve the problem....
    Thanks,

  • Pages crash in Portal (ORA-06502)

    Hi! I have a little problem with Portal pages. Sometimes a page with its subpages crashed with follow error : " ORA-06502 PLSQL: numeric or value error".
    Does anybody know why this happaned?

    Hi Mark
    Sorry for the delay. Not sure I can provide the immediate comfort that you're looking for either.
    What I can say is that dropping and recreating the Text indexes almost certainly won't affect this.
    We'd need more details to figure out what's going on here. The best way to do this is for you to contact Oracle Support. They should be able to help you to get the problem solved.

I don`t know how to resolve this problem, how to use the data type "CLOB" for the XML can be generate+The likeliest explanation for this is that length of the XML exceeds 32K, which is the maximum size that <tt>htp.p</tt> can output. A CLOB can store much more than this, so it's necessary to buffer the output as shown in +{message:id=4497571}+

    I think its better you use APEX 4.x version ratherthan using old version.
    You will get more features and some bug fixes and also it's easy for you to get some help when you need.

  • ORA-06502 when calling from a procedure

    HI,
    I have a procedure(p1) inside a package that queries a table and send out the result based on the input paramater value. OUT variable is of same type as the table column(using %type), column size is varchar2(4000). This procedure is called from another procedure(p2) and sends out the result to Java Page to display the results at front-end.
    Problem is when application runs and p1 is called I get the following error message,
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    Length/size of the character string queried from table is _1747_ that is within the limit of 4000 chars. If I limit the output to just 500 using substr, I don't get any error but adding a single character startes throwing error. OUT variable in both p1 and p2 are declared as table.column%type and error comes from p1 only as confirmed by the error log.
    When I call p1 or p2 from a declare block, I don't get any error.
    This has really confused me and I am not able to find any reason for this difference in behaviour.
    Request to help me in understanding what could be the issue here.
    Oracle version used is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit
