ORA-12571

My programming just do some opertion of selecting and updating frequently. When the programme ran for 7-10days there occured ORA-12571 error first followed by several ORA-01041 errors.
Please help me! Very urgent...

ORA-12571 indicates a broken connection between the Oracle client and the server. This could be (as Justin points out) due to a temporary network glitch or due to the death of a server process. In either case, the client side marks the connection as broken and in this case has cleaned up the assosciated data structures. Further operations return ORA-1041 as as result.
The only option at this point is to reestablish the connection to the server from your application or restart the application. Check any kind of memory leak, handle leak, etc. especially when you have a long running process.

  • ORA-12571 error while creating packages from Windows clients

    Hello,
We are facing the ORA-12571 error while creating / replacing packages from Windows Clients connected to a 8.1.7.2.0 db on a Solaris server.
    However, there are
    1. no errors in connecting and creating transactions from a Sql session
    2. no errors in creating / replacing unwrapped/wrapped small (few lines) packages
    3. no errors in connecting from a Unix session (remote telnet sessions inclusive).
This happens only when creating wrapped/unwrapped packages, source code of which is greater than 500 kb approx.
Can somebody help me resolve this issue. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards.

Update: I had unintentionally left my custom tablespace in READONLY state after an earlier experiment with transportable tablespaces. After putting the tablespace back into READ WRITE mode and creating a new template, I was successfully able to create a new db from the template.
I'm still a little curious why this procedure wouldn't work properly with a READONLY tablespace, however.

  • 'ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure' error while calling procedure from VC++

    hi all,
i am writing stored procedures and calling these from vc++. I have one stored procedure in that all
in and out perameters are numeric. When i am calling these procedure i am able to get the values properly. But in another procedure one in perameter is varchar and one out perameter is varchar. When i am calling these procedure from vc++ the error i am getting is "ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure". I test my vc++ code on different computers but its giving the same errors. I think ora-12571 error is when i can't communicate with oracle. But other stored procedures(in and out perameters are numbers) and sql statements are running properly. Only these stored procedure which has in and out perameters as varchar is giving me the above said problem. My out perameter in this procedure strtax is of type varchar and the length 100. Is it the problem. Please suggest me how to over come this problem.

    Hi
We recently changed our load balancer to a new load balancer. we get this error only after the load balancer change.
When the error occurs, I could see ORA-12571 error message only in the application error log. The listener.log has only the following message about TNS 12502. It does not have any message about ORA -12571.

  • REP-1401 and ORA-12571

    Dear All,
Oracle fusion middleware version (pfrd) : 11.1.1.4
    OS : Windows 2008 X 64, 2 CPU and 8 GB RAM
When we run a huge report we are encountering REP-1401 and intermittently with accompaning error ORA-12571, but when the same report ran for one month report it is working fine.
REP-1401: A fatal PL/SQL error occurred in program unit cf_anct_docsformula.
Since the report is running fine for 1 month period, we concluded that this issue is not a report error or formula columns used and narrowed it to some configuration or ORACLE bug.
We have increased the JVM heap and tired but we couldnt able to get the report. Also we tried searching in oracle support but no hits.
Please let me know if any one had encountered this issue.
    Regards,
    Anand.

Error – ORA-12571 is related to TNS:packet writer failure  and error occurred during a data send.
For further investigation, you need to turn on tracing to collect the logs.

  • ORA-12571-TNS: PACKET WRITER FAILURE

    Hi All,
am using oracle 6i and facing this problem when am connecting Forms to Database..
    Error Encounterd:ORA-12571-TNS: PACKET WRITER FAILURE.
    Plz help.
    Regards,
    Neha

this error usually network problem..... i googled it found some solutions try
his is usually due to an improper sqlnet.ora setting. Here are some possible causes and remedies:
** Loose network cables. This error has been observed when there was a loose cable connection to the SCSI disk array (on an Oracle Parallel Server system). Related errors were also subsequently noted in the NT event log.*
** IP address conflict (Oracle 9.0.1).*
** Authentication services. One solution is to edit the sqlnet.ora file and change the line:*
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    to
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
After saving the updated file, he was able to hit the retry button on the install and the creation of the database succeeded.

  • ORA-12571 TNS : Packet Writter Failure

    Hi all,
When I try to connect the DBA Studio (in the WIN 2000 SP 3), client of Oracle , the error message is
    "ORA-12571 : TNS : Packet writer failure."
But in the TNSNAME.ORA file is working fine. meaning SQL*Plus and other Oracle client can connect.
Only the GUI application(like DBA Studio, enterprise manager) are giving this error.
How can I solve this ploblem?
    Thanks.

yes I few more tnsnames.ora file other directory for other version and application.
For this same version HOME directory, only one file is there.
so, SQL*Plus is connecting by using this file , but not for GUI applications.(DBA studio,Enterprise manager)

  • ORA-12571?! Makes no sense

I everything has been working fine for months now. I then
decided to change the default character set in the database to
UTF8. The server is a Oracle8i running on Solaris. After I
changed the database I get a:
Warning: Unable to connect to ORACLE (Error while trying to
retrieve text for error ORA-12571) in db_oracle.inc on
    line 37
When trying to connect with PHP on the client Linux boxes. I
can connect from Perl and sqlplus on all computers after the
change to UTF8 but not PHP. PHP is just using the standard
libs. The only thing I'm doing strange is by passing TNSnames
and putting the entire connect strings on the connect function.
Is there any environment parameters I have to add since I changed
    to UTF8???

Sorry, I found my error : Trigger on Database
    Maybe others are interested too:
Be careful when using triggers "on schema" or "on database",
because, as I have found, the error message doesn4t say that.
I had a few such triggers for logging purposes.
After I disabled my database triggers, I could continue compiling.

  • ORA-12571: TNS: Fehler beim Paket-Schreiber

    Hi,
I've installed version 92 on winXP professional. While installation the Databas Configuration Assistant prompted the error "ORA-12571: TNS: Fehler beim Paket-Schreiber" an aborted. After installation I tried to install a database by Databas Configuration Assistant again - same error happens.
I also tried installation on W2K server - same error happens.
Does anybody know a solution for this problem?
    regards
    Sven

You have to create a listener.ora file and after start the listener and ensure that tnsnames.ora file and listener.ora file are located in the path pointed by TNS_ADMIN. TNS_ADMIN is an enviroment variable that is located in the windows registry.

  • Ora-12571 error

    hello
we are getting above error connecting to remote sites since last week.
this was working fine one month ago
we have our system on winn 2000 service pack 3 & oracle9i installed on it .
    any suggestions
    thanx

    Hi,
I advise you to read metalink note 156483.1 - ORA-12571 when running SVRMGRL or SQL*Plus locally on Windows Server.
    Solution :
Edit the Server's sqlnet.ora file (located in the Oracle_Home\Network\Admin directory or where the TNS_ADMIN Environment variable is set)and remove/comment out the following line:
    sqlnet.authentication_services = (NTS)
