ORA-29261: bad argument after searching web service from IBM UDDI

I was following the steps listed in the Chapter 6 How to Implement a Web Service of "Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Application Express Developer Guide" , after the steps of
To create a Web service reference by searching for a business name:
On Application Builder home page, click Shared Components.
Under Logic, select Web Service References.
The Web Service References page appears.
Click Create.
When prompted whether to search a UDDI registry to find a WSDL, select Yes and click Next.
For UDDI Location, select IBM UDDI and click Next.
On Search:
For Search Type, select Business Name.
In Name, enter:

Click Search.
I got the error ORA-29261. Please help. Thanks

Looks like you passed in a bad argument to a procedure... Maybe you should wrap the string in single quotes?

I am running Oracle 10gR2.
I keep getting ORA-29261: bad argument when setting the proxy either by the UTL_HTTP.SET_PROXY or UTL_HTTP.REQUEST_PIECES code. I have searched this forum and found no resolutions. I have set this proxy in the browser and it works fine. The following are excerpts of my code:

After submitting this, I realized that I needed to look in the Proxy file for the actual proxy! Duh.

Okay - had a look at the code. You do not need to explicitly set this paramater. UTL_MAIL checks for SMTP_OUT_SERVER. If this parameter does not exist or is null, then it uses the DB_DOMAIN parameter as the mail server's name.
Hmmm.. not sure that that will work as the standard is to use mail.domain.com and not domain.com for the domain's SMTP server.
Rather set SMTP_OUT_SERVER explicitly.
PS. Correction. The code is buggy (no surprises there), assuming the unwrapping worked correctly. The code does not cater for a NO_DATA_FOUND exception, the code that assigns the DB_DOMAIN will never be executed. To be honest - this code looks like it has been written by an utter PL/SQL n00b. Which is of concern as this is a standard Oracle PL/SQL supplied package.

Calling an Abap Web Service from IBM WebSphere with a MYSAPSSO2 Cookie

I have the following problem :
I have to develop a proof of concept between IBM Web Sphere 5.1 and SAP AS JAVA 7.0.
I have created an IBM sevlet in Web Sphere, I use a specific redirect from an SAP AS Java to call it, this way I can have a SAP Logon Ticket, and I manage to call an ABAP module function with JCO with SSO.
Scenario 1 : browser + authentication --> AS Java redirect servlet MYSAPSSO2 cookie -> IBM WebSphere servlet JCO -> Abap module function (ECC5)
This scenario works fine.
I have to do the same scenario with a Web Service and I don't know what to do.
I try to use jax-rpc handlers but I don't know how to pass my cookie from my servlet to my handler.
Scenario 2 : browser + authentication --> AS Java redirect servlet MYSAPSSO2 cookie -> IBM WebSphere servlet JCO -> Abap Web Service (ECC5)
Has someone already done that ?

Why are you using 5.1....go for 6.0 and its cake walk, i have integrated WebSphere 6.0 with R/3 uysing xi.....in a week.
Scenario changed to:--
Browser+ authentication --> WebSphere AS servlet request --> XI --> RFC/bapi --> abap webService

Using JARX API to register a Web service in IBM UDDI Business Registry

HI.
I have a code, which uses the JAXR API to register a web service to the IBM UDDI Business Registry Version 2.0. I compiled the code using the ant tool.
When running the code, i get a java.security.PrivilegedActionException exception. i am using a proxy host to connect to the registry. I had registered with the registry and got a username and password. I am using the same username and password in the code.

Errors in calling web-service from pl/sql

Hello All,
Morning , we are getting the errors mentioned here (ORA-29261 bad argument , ORA-06512 at SYS.UTL_HTTP) while calling the composite (having a bpel process) deployed on 11g WLS server.
From PL/SQL side we are calling this by forming the soap request & calling like this : utl_http.begin_request('end point location of composite', 'POST', 'HTTP/1.1')
getting the response via : utl_http.get_response & finally ending the response : utl_http.end_response.
But we keep this error message for SYS.UTL_HTTP with bad argument and also at times it works fine as well without any errors ...but many times we get this error message.
Could someone please help as to how we could troubleshoot this issue/error ??
means how do we debug or trace the session for the composite instance on the 11g WLS server side ..how do we get the logging enabled on 11g side & whether this could be done from EM console for this deployed composite having issue.. Could someone please provide us the steps for this or any reference document.
We are not getting as to why sometimes this error shows up..could someone please help with inputs..this issue is a bit critical for us..

Firstly thanks for your reply back ...tried this but it seems currently we don't have this utility installed from a database perspective.
--Is there any other way to debug the issue/exceptions coming with the use of utl_http ...this is really critical for us..
--Also is there any way to debug or trace from the 11g WLS server for this particular composite..
The other issue is that this error doesn't come always, but it does occur many a times..

Web Service from stateful Session Bean deleted after server restart

Hi,
i created a stateful session bean and from this a web service.
I am able to deploy it and it works really fine.
My problem is: after a server restart the web service is gone and i
have to deploy it again.
I have some other web services (but these are web services from stateless session beans)
but they "survive" the server restart.
I don't want to deploy the web service after every server restart, did I forget something or
is it a general problem of stateful session beans or web services?

Deploy "command-line like" argument to a web-service possible?

Hi,
I have an axis web-service, and I need to give it a kind of "argument parameter" when I deploy it, like which configuration file it has to use.
I don't know if this is possible, but just like a java Main method takes "String arg[ ]" params, would it be possible to pass a String argument to a web service when I deploy it and then the web-service can access the string during run-time?
Any solution, like maybe putting something special in the axis .wsdd deployement file?

Hi Peter,
You cannot replace the proxy jar generated by the Oracle Web Services runtime with your own version. If you want to provide your own version, you will have to handle it as a classic resource in your .ear file, and advertize the location of this resource using some other mechanism.

As we have the similar facility to call UCM Search from WebServices DataControl.
Do we have anything similar like this for JIVE Search?

Transformer tags in search web service results.

I have a customer requirement to pass a transformer tag back from a search web service in the return record set. As part of the SWS the description and the OpenDocumentURL it will always contain references to existing portal objects.

When this is being displayed through the portal federated search results the transformer tag is not being converted into a URL.

The only thing I can think of is upping your logging on the web server and see what you can find in there or on your WCA. What application server are you using?

Generating Web Service from PL/SLQL procedures using ODSI

1) Is there a way for us to generate REST based web services from PL/SQL procedures using Oracle data services Integrator? If Yes, Can you please point me to any available documentation
2) I am trying to create a phyiscal data source based on PL/SQL procedures in the hope of turning these data sources into web services. I created a JDBC connection in web logic server console and am trying to view the packages under APPS but ODSI always crashes after selecting APPS. Is there a way to resolve this?

We came accross this problem a while back (I think it was us that the patch was created for). The patch was released under CR369707.
Additionally it took us a while to figure out how to use it correctly.. Here's the info for it from a mail i receievd from our support contact..
Here is more information from engineering on the patch:
This is patch for filtering Stored Procedures in the New Physical Data Service Wizard. It is a partial fix to the problem. It just does filtering - it still retrieves all the jdbc metadata for everything that matches the filter. Ideally, the wizard would let you explore the stored procedures - retrieving the name only - and once you selected a stored procedure, it would retrieve the argument types (which is the expensive part).
Copy these two files to a safe place

Creating Relational Database Physical Data Services -> Stored Procedures will be affected as follows :
The Search field used to represent a pattern for the stored procedures only, and this patterns were applied against every schema visible to ALDSP. The patch allows you to also specify a list of catalogue patterns (useful only when applicable), a list of schema patterns and a list of procedure name patterns. These lists are separated by the pipe symbol, and the lists themselves are command-separated. The catalogue and schema patterns are regular expressions, the procedure pattern is for a database 'like' clause. For, Oracle, the catalogue patterns are not applicable.
Example:

Without going into any technical discussion about the code, my first question is what JDK version was used to create this which was imported into the form? Understand that Forms 10 runs on JDK 1.4.2, so if you used any newer JDK version, likely there will be problems.
