Oracle 10g for linuxPowerPC fails to download

Using several different browsers,
the download of the image oracle10102.tgz
(569,664,835 bytes) failed.
Also the option "save target as" failed
with "Server returned and invalid, unrecognized response"

I think the user community can't help you, the only guess I have is address this issue to the OTN Members Services forum:

  • Unable to download oracle 10g for vista

    I'm trying to download Oracle 10g for Windows Vista, but I only get a zero-byte file.
    I even tried Oracle 10g XE for Windows, but I get a zero byte file.
    Also, when you try to download, it waits about a couple of minutes before saying completed.
    Any ideas how to resolve this?.

    Thanks for the replies.
    It seemed to be a problem with either oracle's web site or a hop between oracle and my computer. It works now. I don't think it was my computer because I succussfully downloaded files from several other sites.
    I have downloaded Oracle 10g for windows vista and installed it successfully on vista home premium 32-bit.
    I did get a warning because I use DHCP. It recommended to install Microsoft Loopback driver as the primary interface - I didn't do that.
    Oracle seems to run okay. I downloaded sql developer and it connects okay to oracle.
    I have read other messages on here that installing oracle on a windows system using DHCP without a loopback driver can fail once my IP address changes. If I did install the microsoft loopback driver as my primary interface, what else would I need to do? Would installing this driver cause other stuff on my computer to fail?
    Also, when I entered the database name for Oracle, it truncated a character.
    I wasn't paying attention. So, after I installed, I was unable to connect at first because I kept entering the wrong TNS name. Is there a maximum TNS name length?
    Notice the TNS name is TESTDB10 but the service name is TESTDB10G
    TESTDB10 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.1.101)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = testdb10g)
    )

  • How to reconfigure Oracle-xe (Oracle 10g for linux)?

    Hello!
    I found this article (seems useful since I use Mandriva 2010.2):
    [http://www.e-angel.net/index.php?tg=articles&idx=Print&topics=195&article=912|http://www.e-angel.net/index.php?tg=articles&idx=Print&topics=195&article=912]
    I installed Oracle 10g from the file "oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm".
    Then, when run ./oracle-xe start and then ./oracle-xe status I get:
    LSNRCTL for Linux: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on 29-JUL-2011 23:39:49

    TNS-00515: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    It does not seem ok to me.
    I would love to truy to reconfigure it but if I try the command:
    ./oracle-xe configure
    ...I get:
    Oracle Database 10g Express Edition is already configured
    Does any body know how to reset and reconfigure Oracle 10g for Linux?
    Best regards
    Fredrik

    it seems to be "PLSExtProc" bu default.Nope, the ORACLE_SID is taken from the environment variable when the database is started on a *nix host, windows its set up in the database service. If you want to change the ORACLE_SID, set it. See the environment setup script in OH/bin appropriate for your shell. (OH short for $ORACLE_HOME)

    Error 1067: The process terminated unexpetedly.
    Any idea what went wrong..and how should I get this right?
    Thanks

  • Oracle 10g for Fedora Linux 3 with Kernel 2.6.9

    Can any body suggest a link, from where I can download the Oracle database 10g for Fedora Core 3 Linux with Kernel version 2.6.9-1*.
    I went through the oracle site site but i was not able to find a one for Fedora 3 instead i found for Fedora 4.
    Thanks.......
    Suneel

    You will not find one exactly as you require.
    As I suggested in the duplicate link
    Oracle 10g for Fedora Linux 3 with Kernel 2.6.9 you need to take a version of Oracle that seems to close to your Linux and then carefully tinker to make it work.,

  • Oracle 10g for Mac OS X

    I was just reading the session list for Apple's WWDC this year at:
    http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/descriptions/descriptions-eit.html
    Understanding Oracle 10g for Mac OS X
    Come to this session to learn about Oracle's latest grid-based relational database solution, Oracle 10g. Grid computing reduces the cost of IT by clustering servers together to function as a single large computer, shifting resources dynamically between applications. Attend this session if you are an in-house developer looking for a highly scalable and reliable database on Mac OS X Server.
    Hopefully this means we will see 10g on our favorite platform sooner rather than later.

    As I understand it from what I read somewhere here on Technet about month ago, there will be COMMERICIAL release of 10g on MacOSX.
    Wouldn't that be just great? Run Oracle on a G5 X-Serve and OSX Panther instead of running it on some Wintel box with geeky Linux! I can hardly wait. This DBA will have his own G4 2x1 GHz ready!
    FACT is : it will probably be a few more months but then again 10g has been released for other less mainstream platforms fairly quickly.
    Cheers,
    Jos Nijhoff

  • Cannot get ODBC data source to talk to Oracle 10g for Windows

    Problem description
    I recently installed Oracle 10g on my laptop computer, which is running Windows 7. Everything went smoothly except for one crucial item: The ODBC data source I added keeps returning this error when I click the "Test Connection" button:
    Testing Connection
    Unable to connect
    [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed.
    I was using the following ODBC driver
    Oracle in OraDb10g_home1 (TNS Service Name = ORCL and User ID = scott)
    This type of error happened, in one form or another for the three other Oracle drivers I have on my machine
    Microsoft ODBC for Oracle
    WinSQL Oracle
    WinSQL Oracle Wire Protocol
    These services are currently running (status = Started)
    OractDBConsoleorcl
    OracleMTSRecoveryService
    OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus
    OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener
    OracleServiceORCL
    (NOTE: I entered the foregoing information by hand, since I was not able to copy-and-paste it. So be aware that there is a small possibility of a minor typo in case you plan to cut-and-paste it.)
    If requested, I can provide the contents of these files
    tnsnames.ora
    sqlnet.ora
    listener.ora
    Other installations on the same computer
    ODAC (ADO data provider for Oracle)
    SQL Server 2009 Express
    .NET 4
    Visual Studio 2010
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    OK, I went ahead and upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and I STILL get the same error messages when trying to get the Oracle ODBC driver to talk to Oracle 10g. Here are some screen shots that show what happened:
    1) Select ODBC driver: http://yfrog.com/f3driverselectionp
    2) Configure driver: http://yfrog.com/ccoracleodbcfororaclep
    3) Test connection: http://yfrog.com/1goracleodbcfororacletestp
    I also get the following error when I try to run SQL*Plus from the line command, even with no parameters:
    C:\Users\Bruce>sqlplus
    SP2-1503: Unable to initialize Oracle call interface
    SP2-0152: ORACLE may not be functioning properly
    Any suggestions as to how I might to go about diagnosing (and fixing) this problem?

    When I installed the new oracle 10 XE, I try to restore the backup data from application menu, but the get result as below:
    This operation will shut down and restore the database. Are you sure [Y/N]?y
    Restore in progress...
    Enter the flash recovery area location:/usr/lib/oracle

    I found the error lines in oxe_restore.log as below:

    And after that, the new oracle 10 XE can`t start anymore.
    Thanks for any help!

    Thank you so much for reply!
    Tried full path already, but still can`t work. But I found another solution below and made it working finally:
    Oracle XE Recovery
    1 Copy /usr/lib/oracle to Bakcup disk.
    sudo cp /usr/lib/oracle /media/disk
    2 Copy the directory oracle to new linux system
    sudo cp /media/disk /usr/lib/oracle
    3 install Oracle 10g XE
    4 run command below:
    /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/config/scripts/restore.sh
    Done.

  • Oracle 10g RAC query fails

    Hi,
    I am a newbie to RAC implementations, I have a strange problem on the one we are testing,
    Failure (forced shutdown) of one of the nodes results in queries on the other node returning with a ORA-12805. This happens only in certain cases, otherwise the query waits for some time and completes. We are using Redhat 3, Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1.0) and TAF with SELECT and PRECONNECT options. Is there some reason and remedy on why this fails on only one of the nodes ?.

    Hi
    From metalink
    ORA-12805
    =========
    Error Summary
    ORA 12805 parallel query server died unexpectedly (Oerr:ORA.12805)
    Error Details
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Error: ORA 12805
    Text: parallel query server died unexpectedly
    Cause: The PMON process is cleaning up the process because a parallel query
    server terminated unexpectedly.
    Action: Check for operating system errors and retry the statement.
    If this problem persists, contact customer support.
    When a ORA-12805 occurs in most cases you will also see another error, ORA-600 or
    a ORA-7445.
    Best thing for you to do is to check all logs (that may include alert, crs, css etc) and determine the cause of node crash.
    Regards
    Adnan
