Oracle 10g Forms Builder in Windows 7

Oracle 10g Forms Builder crashes whenever we try to open existing 10g fmb files.
is Windows 7 certified to run Oracle Dev Suite 10g and/or are there patches required to run this in the said OS?

  • Oracle 10g form builder

    Dear All
    I have installed 10g developer suite. Report builder is working but forms builder is not working. when ever i tried to open a .fmb file it show's the following error.
    i)frm-18108. failed to load the follwoing objects.
    ii) frm-10102 cannot attach pl/sql librariey. This attachment will be lost if the module is saved.
    Regards
    Arifuddin

    Hi,
    Add your folder path in Forms_path in registery so it can find your pl/sql library or
    create a FMB shortcut on desktop and in property there is Start In Box write the full path of your forms folder .
    if you are using any object library then open it first and then open your form.

  • Shortcut to find a property from property pallate in oracle 10G forms

    Hi,
    I want to know the the shortcut to find a property from property pallete in oracle 10G form builder.
    Because i cannot use mouse due to blindness. Please tell shortcut to locate a property from property pallete.
    Qasim Javaid Malik

    Hi,
    Yes, the keys I mentioned open Property Palette.
    I have no clue about short-cuts for properties in an open palette.
    The Up and Down arrow keys work will you enter a LoV, and I could not figure out key strokes to come out of the LoV !
    Maybe someone else has some idea of this.
    Cheers,
    PS: I was trying on 11g R1 as I do not have 10g any more.

  • PDE- Per001 Internal Error deplu 3 - Oracle 10g Forms

    Hi all..
    When I'm trying to execute a form in Oracle 10g forms developer I'm getting this error... PDE- PER001-Internal Error deplu 3
    Please help me to correct this
    Thanks in advance,
    Nycy

    Hi Arniko,
    Thanks .. It worked...
    But I have one more doubt ...
    I saw in a forum that this happens due to :
    The error is a procedure builder error often seen while compilation when multiple forms are opened in a form builder and can be solved by reopening the form builder or open one form at a time and compile... ( This also works )
    Is that something related to any inbuilt procedure with Oracle 10g Forms builder...??Is there any way to correct that?
    Pls help me...
    Thanks in advance,

  • Iconic file in oracle 10g forms

    hii,,
    i am a new user in oracle 10g form,,,here i am running a form & placing all the icons in a folder,after that i changed the iconic file path in the default.env file,the path is same where the icons are kept,,but still i am unable to see the icons at the run time,,,,,
    do i need to modify some other file or the icons will be kept at some particaular place????
    plzzzz help.....

    hi
    1 How to Display Iconic Images Using Forms 9.0.x/ 10.x?
    When running an Oracle Forms 9i/10g application the icon files used must be in a web enabled
    format such as JPG or GIF (GIF is the default format) (This is unlike older versions of forms running in client-server mode when the file format is .ico.)
    Icon image files can either be retrieved by Forms as individual files on the filesystem or from a Java Archive (JAR file).
    If an application uses lots of icon images it is recommended that they are stored in a JAR file to reduce the number of HTTP round trips.
    Reference:Note 232413.1 How to Deploy Iconic Images via a JAR File in Forms 9i/10g?
    The example below details steps to configure iconic images as individual gif or jpeg files.
    It is a first approach recommended for initial testing and understanding.
    Example:
    ========
    This document has been written for use with both Windows and UNIX operating systems: Windows will use the "\" character to delimit directories and UNIX uses the "/" character. Any other differences are noted in the document.
    1) Determine the physical location of the icons on your web server. For this example, assume that the icons are stored in D:\Myfiles\icons.
    2) Create the virtual directory in the forms90.conf file that point to the location of your Forms 9i/10g icons. This file is located in:
    $ORACLE_HOME\forms90\server\forms90.conf
    To define a virtual directory forms90/icons, use the following syntax:
    # Virtual path for ICONS (used to show icons in a form ) AliasMatch ^/forms90/icons/(..*) "D:\Myfiles/icons/$1"
    Below is an example of the forms90.conf after it has been modified to include the /forms90/icons virtual directory.
    # Virtual path mapping for Forms Java jar and class files (codebase) AliasMatch ^/forms90/java/(..*) "E:\IASR2\APP/forms90/java/$1" # Virtual path for JInitiator downloadable executable and download page AliasMatch ^/forms90/jinitiator/(..*) "E:\IASR2\APP/jinit/$1" # Virtual path for runform.htm (used to run a form for testing purposes) AliasMatch ^/forms90/html/(..*) "E:\IASR2\APP/tools/web90/html/$1"
    # Virtual path for ICONS (used to show icons in a form ) AliasMatch ^/forms90/icons/(..*) "D:\Myfiles/icons/$1"
    ( For 10g use instead of "forms90" -> "forms")
    3) Direct forms to use the /forms90/icons or /forms/icons virtual directory when running on the web by modifying the Registry.dat file in the $ORACLE_HOME\forms90\java\oracle\forms\registry or $ORACLE_HOME\forms\java\oracle\forms\registry
    directory. Note that for UNIX, both the path name and file name are case sensitive. You must specify "Registry.dat".
    Modify the default.icons.iconpath entry as follows: default.icons.iconpath=http:///forms90/icons/ or default.icons.iconpath=http:///forms/icons/
    If the URL used to bring up forms on the web is: http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/f90servlet or http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms/frmservlet
    Then the entry required for the Registry.dat will be: default.icons.iconpath=http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/icons or default.icons.iconpath=http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms/icons default.icons.iconextension=gif
    4) Now use EM Website to: a) Restart the OC4J-BI-Forms Instance b) Restart the BI-FORMS HTTP Server Instance.
    5) Verify that the virtual directory has been defined properly and that the icons can be viewed in a browser.
    Assuming that exeqry.gif exists in the D:\Myfiles\icons directory, the following URL should show the icon:
    http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/icons/exeqry.gif or http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms/icons/exeqry.gif
    6) Check the form : http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/f90servlet?form=D:\Testcases\F90\ICON_CHECK_IASR2.fmx or http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms/frmservlet?form=D:\Testcases\F10g\ICON_CHECK_IASR2.fmx
    CHECKLISTS
    =============
    Icons do not appear in the browser using the URL:
    o Verify that you are using the correct machine name and port for the OC4J_BI_Forms object.
    o Check the virtual directory name to make sure that there are no typographical errors. o Check for typographical errors in the forms90.conf or forms.
    conf for the virtual directory. o Check the name of the icon on the file system. If the file is saved as Exeqry.gif, then it will not be found using the URL http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/ Close all your browser sessions and open a new browser window.
    Execute the URL to bring up from the Form Builder runtime or from the browser.
    ( For 10G use "forms" instead of "forms90")USEFUL REFERENCES:==================

  • Migrating Forms 61 to 10g - Forms Builder Crashing

    We are migrating from Forms 6i to 10g. The application works on a HP-UX box, and since we do not have the necessary setup done in the Unix box yet, we are trying to compile the forms in Windows before-hand to see if we can pre-empt some errors.
    I have written a batch command to compile the 6i forms in windows (Windows XP) by invoking the 10g Forms Builder.
    While it works like a charm for most of the forms (we have around 500 forms), there are a few forms for which the compiler/builder simply crashes. The .err file created for this form has absolutely nothing, it is a 0KB file.
    When I try opening such forms in Forms Dev 10g, and then compile them, the Dev crashes. It gives no indication of the error.
    By crashing I mean that windows throws the error message saying "Application has to be closed. Send error report: yes/no"
    Can someone please tell me if you faced such a problem, and how you went about solving it?

    Try a Compile All ( Ctrl - K ), then Ctrl - T.
    Not sure about XP, but in Vista, the 10g Builder and batch compiler will crash if a PLL Library is not available when the form is compiled.
    Make sure the PLL Library is available, and all its objects compile in the 10g setup.
    If that does not help, then try a semicolon-to-semicolon replace all, then save the fmb. Then restart the Forms Builder, and open the fmb again, and try compiling.
    Here is an old link describing the issue:

  • Un-embed applet on oracle 10g forms from web browser

    Hi all,
    I want to ask how can i seperately open my applet from web browser in oracle 10g forms. To be more precise to my question, i dont want to use my applet in web browser. It should be opened in new window i.e. applet window.
    Regards,
    Qasim Javaid Malik

    If you want to run forms without the IE browser (hidden)
    Try this
    To open web forms just like client server with a hidden IE window, I have invented two methods.
    ****** make seperateFrame = True on formsweb.cfg ******
    Method 1
    <job id="SYMA">
    <script language="VBScript">
    Const SW_HIDE = 0
    Const High = 128
    strComputer = "."
    strCommand = "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE http://symphony-devl.atradiusnet.com/forms/frmservlet?config=syma"
    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
    & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" _
    & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
    ' Configure the Notepad process to show a window
    Set objStartup = objWMIService.Get("Win32_ProcessStartup")
    Set objConfig = objStartup.SpawnInstance_
    ' Create Notepad process
    Set objProcess = objWMIService.Get("Win32_Process")
    intReturn = objProcess.Create _
    (strCommand,Symphony, objConfig, intProcessID)
    If intReturn <> 0 Then
    Wscript.Echo "Process could not be created." & _
    vbNewLine & "Command line: " & strCommand & _
    vbNewLine & "Return value: " & intReturn
    Else
    Wscript.Echo "Process created." & _
    vbNewLine & "Command line: " & strCommand & _
    vbNewLine & "Process ID: " & intProcessID
    End If
    </script>
    </job>
    Method 2
    <job id="SYMA">
    <script language="VBScript">
    dim objShell
    set objShell = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
    objShell.ShellExecute "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE", "http://ws-79767.atradiusnet.com:8890/forms/frmservlet?config=localJpi", "", "open",0
    </script>
    </job>
    Change the URL as appropriate, it's fantasitic .... !!!!!!
    Any questions let me know ...... !

  • Oracle 10g Forms - recommened books, learning materials?

    Hi, I am new to Oracle 10g Forms development. I did a search for books on Amazon and the internet, but did not find books specific to Oracle 10g Forms. I found books on JDeveloper, web development with ADF, Fusion development, etc.
    Are there books written specifically to 10g Forms development? I am not sure what to search under to find them. Perhaps I am searching under the wrong terms.

  • Migration from Oracle 9i 32 bit to Oracle 10G 64 bit on Windows 2003 Server

    I am working on migrating Oracle 9i 32 bit to Oracle 10G 64 bit on Windows 2003 from Old server to new server. We have db around 500 GB and 3 schemas. I installed Oracle 10G on new server, created tablespaces, schema's blah blah and now doing export and import at schema level from old server to new server.
    Import is taking more than 4 to 5 hours on new server. My manager is saying, window time is bit longer and he wants me to try possiblities to make this process faster. Can some one help me on this, to use the best possible method to complete this process faster?
    Will below step work, if I try?
    If I install, oracle 9i and 10g both on new server in different home directories and take the hot backup from old machine and restore on new machine in 9i home directory and use the upgrade configuration assistant from 10g and do the upgrade? Pls advice.

    It looks good.
    I have one question in below steps:
    To migrate an Oracle9i or older database to an Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1) database for 64-bit Windows:
    1 Perform steps 1 - 11 in "Migrating an Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1) Database".
    2 Shut down the database on the 64-bit computer:
    SQL> SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    3 Start the database migration:
    SQL> STARTUP MIGRATE;
    4 Migrate the database as described in Chapter 3, "Upgrading a Database to the New Oracle Database 10g Release" in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide.
    In step 4, it says, migrate database as described in chapter 3. In chapter 3, it says, to do the upgrade the process using dbca or manually. Pls confirm whether do the upgrade process after issuing startup migrate or not.
    Thanks in advance.
