Oracle 10g Universe Connectivity From 64bit Windows 2003 Server

Hi,
Have an existing BO XI 3.1 environment built on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server and
I'm having problems getting it to communicate with Oracle 10g universes.  Works fine
with its SQL Server 2005 repository and SQL Server 2005 relational/olap universes, but
cant seem to get it to work with Oracle.
Universes work fine on the 32 bit development environment talking to the same Oracle
database, but when move them to 64 bit testing environment they all fail with
Oracle ora-12154 errors.
32 bit Oracle client is installed and can communicate fine with other products using ODBC
connections from the server - but BO refuses to communicate.
Any ideas other than reinstalling BO under 'Program Files' rather than 'Program Files (x86)'
as I've seen some references on the web about this possibly being a problem?
Thanks.

Hi,
Oracle 32 bit and 64 bit connectivity work fine from the server.  The problem seems to
relate to bug 3807408 in Oracle 10g that cant handle parentheses in directory names.
So BO being installed in u2018C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objectsu2019 causes it to get
rather annoyed.
SAP Note 1202730 does cover this, but our DBA's aren't too keen on installing the
suggested patch.  I'm also not very keen on reinstalling BO in a different directory as
we've got working production sites that would have to be rebuilt.
So now investigating whether using the Oracle 11g client will resolve this.
MSDN forum topic http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/ab662d63-6385-4f73-b27f-d526048f601f/  gives a pretty good overview of what people have been trying to resolve this.

    Hi,

Well, I have noticed that you didn't provide much information. First of all you need to take a look at alert log file and trace files in order to get more information.

  • NTLM module for oracle 10g Release 2 Apache on Windows 2003

    Hi,
I want to implement autologon on my HTML DB application depending on the Windows username. I understand that I can implement this feature with the Apache module modntlm.
Is there anyone who has got this working on Windows 2003 Server in combination with Oracle 10g Release 2 Apache on Windows 2003.
Which version NTLM software do I need and where can I download the version for Windows 2003 server?

Nothing fantastic, we have the username/id passed in from the linking application (company intranet) as part of the URL. The process is invisible to the end-user. Possibly not ideal if you want really tight security/authentication, but it was sufficient for our needs, and the problems we had previously where users were unable to use the application have disappeared. I'd like to know the reasons for the problems we had with mod_ntlm (running on AIX), but it was more important to
me to deliver a working app than to spend time resolving probelms in 3rd party software.
    Cheers.

  • Does Oracle 10G R2 support installation on Windows 2003 Domain Controller?

Does Oracle 10g R2 support installation on Windows 2003 Domain Controller? I remember that 10g R1 had issues with the DC? Is it still the case. Does it work now?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Raghav

We have Oracle 10g R2 running on a Windows 2003 domain controller. It was not a domain controller when Oracle was installed. The domain was created after installation. (I don't recommend that procedure. I spent a long day fixing the installation after they configured the domain.) If Oracle is unhappy with being on a domain controller, it has not shown it yet.

  • OO4O on 64bit Windows 2003 Server

Is it possible to install OO4O on 64bit Windows 2003 Server SP1?

We have an application that uses OO4O and I am also trying to create a new workstation image using Vista 64-bit and have found roadblocks. The setup instructions for the application have one install the Oracle 9i client, of which is not compatible with Vista or 64-bit OSes. So I decided to try the 10g client for Vista and 2008 64-bit. Got it installed, but when I try to install the application, it tells me it needs Oracle Objects for OLE. After much research, it seems that there is no version of OO4O that will work with 64-bit Vista. Is that true? If so, is Oracle working on OO4O for Windows 64-bit OSes or have they given up permanently? And finally, is there any non-supported workaround to get OO4O to install and run on 64-bit Vista?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can oracle discoverer 10 be installed on Windows 2003 server

    Hi,
I have couple of queries related to Oracle Discoverer. Need help urgently.
    1. Can Oracle Discoverer 4.1 version support Windows 2003 on which Citrix server version 4 or above is installed? If yes, please let me know the patch details to download the same.
    2. Can Oracle 10g BI Tool, Oracle Discoverer Administrator and Desktop be installed on Windows 2003 Server Operating System on which Citrix server version 4 or above be installed?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Rajesh Gurram

    Hi,
    1. Discoverer 4.1 has been desupported but was only certified for Windows 200 and XP
    2. Discoverer Desktop and Admin is support on Windows 2003:
    2003 SP1+ 10g (10.1.2.0.2 )
One thing I have to mentioned is that Oracle does not support any Citrix client operations.
If ever you encounter a problem you will need to reproduce the problem
outside of the Citrix environment to prove that it is not the cause of the problem.

  • Installing AS 10g (10.1.2) on Windows 2003 Server

I have problem installing AS 10g (10.1.2.0.0) on Windows 2003 Server. Installation seems to be ok, but when I tried (on server) to go into Enterprise Manager (EM), I wasn't asked for password, only blank page was shown. So I tried enter EM on workstation (XP, SP2) - succesfully. All seemed OK, until I tried deploy some application from ear file. I waited a long time, but nothing happened. On server I see, that nothing at all is being uploaded into applications directory. I tried all that again on AS installed on XP workstation - without any problems, so problem will probably be on 2003 server. Do you have any idea where? Thanks.

I solved one thing - running Enterprise Manager on server is now possible after I changed security level in Internet Explorer. Now I can deploy applications from server, whether the .ear file is on server or shared from workstation. I still have problems with deploy from workstation (though I was several times succesfull). After browsing to .ear file and clicking on Continue button on first (out of 3) page, the IE waits very long time (many minutes) to next page. Once on next page, I am able to finish it all OK quite quickly.

  • Is there anyway to take a windows 7 computer that the user is completely setup and configured and connect to a windows 2003 server

I have spent hours setting up a windows 7 computer with programs cad files and other software and I would like to log in to a windows 2003 server
without having to start over. Is there anyway to do that without losing anything?
    Scott

Hello, I can't believe your the only one that answered my question.
What I have is 7 pc's that I bought in 2007 they are "HP M9077C" I am trying to
upgrade all of them the same way. I upgraded the memory to 8gb, replaced the
video cards to nvidia quadro k600 and installed windows 7 ultimate on all of them.
I then took just 1 of the computers and installed all of the software and changed the
settings to my preference which took hours to do. After I had the 1 computer
configured exactly the way that I wanted it I made a mirror image backup of it.
I then took that backup and restored it on the rest of the 6 computers that I have.
Now here comes the problem I need to be able to hook up the computers to my
windows 2003 small business server. When my IT guy did that he said that he had
to create a different user to connect to the file server when he did that my desktop
was empty and all of the settings are on the original user. Is there anyway to keep
the settings from the original user and connect to the file server so I don't have to
spend hours on each one of the computers. If there is a way to copy the original
user's settings that would be great. I also need to change the user name on each
    computer. Please let me know.
    Thanks Scott

  • Connecting to a Windows 2003-Server with a MacBook

    Hi guys!
I'm planning on buying a MacBook anytime soon. The main purpose of this investment is work at school. Therefore I have to ensure that everything works perfectly, otherwise I would have to buy a Windows notebook (in fact not the kind of decision I wanna make).
We have a Windows 2003-Server and every other pupil can easily connect to this server with a Windows XP machine wirelessly. They can use printers, surf the Internet and use all the network harddrives (like F: for everyone; P: for projects were only certain groups have access to certain folders; and Z: your home-directory where only the very user has access).
I need to make sure 2 things:
    a) When I connect to the network via Airport, does the system ask me for my account, so I can have (or have not) access to files I am entitled to?
    b) Does everything work fine under normal condition?
I am aware that something could happen nobody could have forseen, but as the MacBook is a bigger investment than a € 700 windows crapbook, I would like to make sure that everything should work seemlessly.

Thanks Jay, It now auto log's in but it's still not acting like a networked drive - when saving an attachment etc I still can't save direct to the server as it doesn't appear in the listing.. I need to save to desktop or doc's then manually drag it into the server... this is a pain...
    Any further ideas.

  • Oracle 10g RAC on 2 VMware Windows 2003 images corrupts image

It happened twice on each of the 2 VMware workstation 5 on which I am trying to set up an Oracle 10g R2 RAC. • Help with Oracle 10g Client Connectivity from Linux to IBM SAN storage

    Hello Oracle Experts,
This is my first post. My client is having oracle 10g database up and running in IBM SAN storage.
We have some NMS tools running in Red Hat Linux version 5. So, these tools require connectivity to Oracle database which is residing in SAN storage connected with the Fibre cables.
How do I establish the connectivity from Linux to SAN storage. If would be glad if you can explain me the steps and also if there is any pre-installation/post-installation, patches and procedures involved.
If it is IP based network we normally give the IP address of the host running the database server. I have no idea about SAN storage connected with Fibre cable.
Please guide me to establish the connectivity from linux 5 to SAN.
    Thanks.

    RaviShankar.

    Hi Rajesh,
Actually I will not be touching the Oracle instance SAN box directly. I will only access the database from another machine. I my case it is Linux box.
So, my question is how do you make the Oracle Client in Linux box to connect to Oracle instance running in another non ip based machine SAN storage.Install Oracle client on this Linux machine ..
Make sure you have network connectivity from linux machine to database server. You need to connect to server where db instance is running and you need not to bother about SAN storage.
make tns entry into client $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora file.
Use sqlplus to connect to database using client.

  • Problem when connecting to a Windows 2003 server

    Hello folks.
I've been trying to connecting to my 2003 server from my Mac MINI with no luck. My Mac sees the domain and I get prompted for user ID and password, which I do have administrator privileage. But after plugging in my user ID and password, it returned with the error message saying that it can't find the original item and gave me the option to fix or delete.
However, I have no trouble connecting to my Mac's shared folder from the Win server at all.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi James, Welcome to discussions.
Have you checked the digitally sign settings?
have a look on the 2003 server and:
The following options should be set in the Security Options section of the Local Policy.
The settings dealing with SMB and Secure Channel are of particular importance if Microsoft Networking and Resource Sharing are to be used.
Note: These policy settings just create and set registry keys (that is, they are just a pretty interface for the recommended registry keys settings).
Digitally Sign Client Communication (Always) Disabled
Digitally Sign Client Communication (When Possible) Enabled
Digitally Sign Server Communication (Always) Disabled
Digitally Sign Server Communication (When Possible)
    See if that helps.
    Cheers.

  • Error installing Oracle 10g Express Editon on 64bit windows

After downloading the executable file, when I try to run it I get "Error Reading setup Initialization file"

I guess your download is corrupt.
Strangely there are no checksums provided for the exe files at the download page so you are not able to check your file :(
    Try to download again.

  • Oracle 10.2.0.1 on Windows 2003 Server

    Hi,
I hope this is the right forum to ask.
I installed the above mentioned database on the above mentioned os. Works actually, but there are two things that don't. I know this is an outdated version, but I have reasons to install this particular one.
First, when I try to configure the enterprise manager to shutdown or start the instance I have to enter a username and password for the os, which is not accepted. I tried everything from the administrator account to a useraccount which I created and added it to the oracle administrators group. I am at loss here.
Second, when I try to configure the patch management and start to download any patches for my version of the database the enterprise manager keeps telling me the version of the patch is not the same as the version of my database. The patch downloaded from metalink works like a charm when I install it by hand, though.
I searched the forum for any answers to these questions but I didn't find any, so if these question are answered already please give me a hint where I find it!
    Thanks in advance!
    Harro Nehlsen

I think the first problem is covered here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14316/postcfg.htm#BABFAEIG
You need to the 'Log on as a batch job' privilege, which is not granted by default.
More difficult to analyze the second problem remotely. There are different versions of Windows (processor type, bitsize). Are you sure you pick up the correct patch for your actual environment?
