Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 installed under Redhat 7.3

Finally beat my way through the entire process.
Used command line to start the installer, OMS repository creation and OEM
start.

I downloaded the 3 big files at work and burned CDs.
At home, I copied the files to the hard drive and followed the instructions
on the download page.
I don't believe that the database created during install was really created.
I used dbca to create a new database.
Next I must enable auto startup and shutdown.
Anybody know where the make files for the OCI demos are.
I found these easily under Solaris.

  • Oracle 9i (9.2.0.4) install on Redhat linux AS3.0

I download the oracle 9i (9.2.0.4)latest version from website , I only require patch p3006854_9204_linux.zip for the installation. But Unfortunitly, after finish database setup, It can not start Agent Configuration Assistant
    error message:
    "Agent service Failed"
Any one can give me suggestion to solve it ?
    Thanks a lot!

Did you set your oracle home? Can you post your ENV parameters?

  • Is it always necessary to patch Oracle when installing under Linux?

I did a search first and, yes, I checked http://www.puschitz.com/.
Everything I have seen to this point suggests Oracle cannot be installed without patching it first, even if it certified for that platform.
    Please advise.

Anser is NO, the oracle 8.0.5 can be installed on redhat 5.2 without any patch, the oracle10g can be installed on redhat EL3 without any patch too. Those version of oracle with those version of Redhat linux are standard couple. Though something need a little skill to fix such as the ora8.0.5 precompile need some fix on redhat 5.2. Ora8i and Ora9i having too much bugs, after the patch, the bug will be bigger than before. However the Ora10g is good, the only problem is user SYSTEM seems having control right problem, but we can using user SYS replace SYSTEM user.
Does any one have other idea?

  • Oracle developer suite installed under a different Oracle Home

    I have Oracle 10g r2 installed on a RHAS4 server.
I installed Oracle developer suite 10.1 on this server. In the installation procedures, there are specific instructions to not install it under the ORACLE_HOME for an existing database installation.
Oracle was already installed under /usr/lib/oracle (don't ask me why, I didn't do it).
I installed oracle developer suite under /oracle/dev. If I set ORACLE_HOME to /usr/lib/oracle, proc responds with:
Symbol `kpccapCTarr' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
PCC-F-NOERRFILE, unable to open error message file, facility PR2
If I set ORACLE_HOME to /oracle/dev, it works correctly.
This appears to require me to switch my oracle home setting each time I switch between using Pro*C and sqlplus. This in very inconvenient. I have worked on many, many systems in the past which had one ORACLE_HOME for both the RDBMS and the development tools.
Is this a new constraint introduced by Oracle? Where does this restriction come from?
Is there something I don't understand and have I installed the developer suite incorrectly?

It looks to me this is a mess; i have installed oracle 10g on rhas4 and it didn't install under that folder. I'd suggest to run oui/run installer and show what are the oracle_homes found there; maybe you should reinstall it in the proper locations, under different accounts, etc.

  • Oracle 9I Database, and Mobile Server install history

    Dear Oracle technical representative:
This TAR started out as a true request for help in solving installation problems with Oracle 9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, and Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1, but it has turned into a history of frustration with out of date, laconic, and often incorrect, and misleading documentation. As a software developer, I understand that documentation is always out of date, at least mine is. Nonetheless, I must speak my mind while understanding, and sympathizing with your situation.
I struggled through the documentation, and managed to get everything working. While I was doing that, I wrote down the step by step procedure that I used to get Database, and Mobile Server running. By sharing this rough install history with you, it is my hope that it will help prevent others from experiencing the same difficulties that I have had. It has been my observation that when a user has problems installing a trial software package they give up quickly, and do not purchase a copy. It is thus extremely important that the installation instructions, and quick start guide be accurate, attentive to detail, and well written. The first impression is the one that counts.
The Oracle 9i Lite Installation, and Configuration Guide for Windows NT shipped with Oracle 9i Lite Release 5.0.1 definitely requires, and emergency rewrite. It is terribly out of date, inaccurate, and laconic. My guess is that it is a very sloppy rewrite of poorly written 8i documentation. The Oracle 9i Database Installation Guide for Windows is somewhat better. It however should do a better job informing you that before installing onto a old server the Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC), and VC runtime libraries must be up to date. The history describes the trouble with not having the MFC42.dll at version 6. Another corker is that the default port the installer presents is 2030, and not 1521, and that leads to major confusion in the both the Database, and Mobile Server installs.
Thank you for looking at the history. I hope that it will be of use to you when you update your documentation.

TAR for Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Enterprise Edition, and Oracle Lite Release 5.0.1 Mobile Server
Installation problems are highlighted in red.
    Installation sequence/history:
         1. Installed Windows NT 4.0 Server SP1 on Dell Power Edge 4300 dual x86 server to wipe the slate clean.
         2. Setup TCP/IP, and IPX/SPX networks
              Computer name YGGDRASILL
              Host name = YGGDRASILL
              Domain = CFR.MSSTATE.EDU
              Internet name = YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSATE.EDU = 130.18.130.225
         3. Installed NT SP3, and Internet Explorer 4.01 from the NT 40 Options Pack CD as the gateway to installing MTS 2.0, and IIS 4.0.
         4. Installed MTS 2.0, and IIS 4.0 from NT 4.0 Optins Pack CD.
         5. Applied NT 4.0 SP6.
         6. Installed Internet Explorer 5.5 as a prerequisite to installing MADAC 2.6.
         7. Installed MDAC 2.6
         8. Installed Paint Shop Pro 7 for capturing error screens.
         9. As previous install errors stated that the ordinal function xxxx could not be found in MFC42.dll, the latest version (6.0.8665.0) of the dll was installed, and registered from MS VC++ SP5. Also I upgraded MSVCIRT.dll, MSVCRT.dll, MSCRT40.dll, and added MSVC60.dll from SP5 to be on the safe side.
According to the installation documents all the prerequisites for installing Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Enterprise Edition are satisfied.
         10. Began install of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition with target parameters:
              Home directory = D:\Oracle\Ora92
              Database directory = D:\Oracle\oradata
              Global database name = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU
              Port = 2030
              SID = FIA
              SYSTEM Password = phwphw
              SYS Password = phwphw
              SCOTT Password = phwphw
DBSNMP Password = I left this one unassigned or empty.
tnsnames.ora entry for remote TCP/IP connection
              a. CD 1 of 3 load
                   1. Error writting to MFC42u.dll. Action ignore. A check indicated that MFC42u.dll version did not match the updated version of MFC42.dll. Plan is to update after install. Unicode version of MFC is probably not used by the installer.
              b. CD 1 completed with only one problem, and CD 2 load begins.
              c. CD 2 installed without incident., and CD 3 load begins, and completes without farther problems. The only issue to address at this time is to update the MFC42u.dll.
                   HTTP Server URLs
                        http://7778
                        https://4443
         12. Evaluation of install success begins.
              a. Oracle HTTP Service will not start. It is of particular interest that on installs that I do not upgrade the MFC42.dll the Oracle HTTP Service will start correctly, but during the install I get the error message Ordinal nnnn not found in MFC42.dll, and the Oracle MTS Recovery Service crashes during the install. I am caught between a rock and hard spot on this one. See the Figure 1. At the end of this document. I do not need the HTTP Server at this time but I will need it later and this issue must be resolved. It appears that it hangs during startup. I am sorry but I lost the ordinal number nnnn.
When I try to start the HTTP server from the Programs menu. It Hangs, and does not return an error message. See Figure 2, and the included Apache Setup.txt, the install log, and the HTTPd.conf . The conf, and setup files look OK to me. What is the problem?
              b. All other services start correctly.
              c. Logged into the database as SCOTT on the server with SQL Plus using the connection information:
                   FIA.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU =
                   (DESCRIPTION =
                   (ADDRESS_LIST =
                   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yggdrasill)(PORT = 1521))
                   (CONNECT_DATA =
                   (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                   (SERVICE_NAME = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU)
I created some tables, inserted data, and queried for the data. Everthing seems to be working correctly.
              d. Logged in remotely from my AOL account on a dial-up line using Oracle 9i Release 2 Personal Edition installed on my ThinkPad. Every thing tested out as above. I used the connection information:
                   FIA.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU =
                   (DESCRIPTION =
                   (ADDRESS_LIST =
                   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu)(PORT = 1521))
                   (CONNECT_DATA =
                   (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                   (SERVICE_NAME = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU)
         13. I concluded that except for the Oracle HTTP Server Service not starting correctly, and that after updating the MFC42u.dll to VC++ SP5 level the stage is set for installing Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1. I copied the MFC42u.dll to the server and registered it successfully.
         14. As Visual Studio 6.0 Professional updates all of the MFC stuff, I decides to install it at this juncture, and apply SP5.
         15. Installed JDK1.3.1 required for Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1
At this time the prerequisites for installing Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1 are satisfied, and MFC, and rt are at version 6.
It is important to note that after installing MS Visual Studio Professional 6.0 SP5, the HTTP server started working. It is clear that prior to installing Oracle Database it is essential that MFC, and possibly other components are upgraded before starting an installation of Oracle. This probably only applies to old NT servers, but it should be mentioned in the installation instructions.
         16. Attempt to install Oracle Mobile Server Release 5.0.1
              a. File locations Screen
                   Name: = OraLite501
                   Path: = D:\OraLite501
              b. Select Mobile Server at Installation Screen
              c. Mobile Server Repository Database Information Screen
                   Hostname = YGGDRASILL = hostname from tnsnames.ora
Port = 2030 = same as Database port
It is troublesome that the port in tsnames.ora is 1521, and not 2030 as was specified in the database install. I will try this port on the reinstall. On the retry, it worked. The problem was that I was mislead by the default port of 2030 at the database install. The database was actually installed on port 1521, and I was not given an error message, or warning. As I am a first time installer of Oracle products this threw me for a loop. The default port for the database needs to be 1521, if regardless of what the user specifies for a port you are going to install on port 1521.
Net Service Name = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU = Global database name as required by installation instructions.
              d. Yes. At Do you want to install the Mobile Server Repository question.
              e. At Oracle Protocol Support, I checked the SPX box.
              f. Summary, and Install screens function to specifications.
              g. Mobile Server Repository Wizard
                   Database System password:
                        Password = phwphw
              h. Mobile Server Repository Wizard
                   Schema Name: fiafield
                   Password : fiafield
              i. Success at last with the install part. The problem was the wrong port number. See my above comments on this problem, and how Oracle could grease the skids for the next first time installer.
         j. I could not find the httpd.conf file in the place the install instructions said it should be for running the Mobile Server in Oracle HTTP Server. Since only one copy of httpd.conf existed, I added the include D:\OraLite501\mobile\server\bin\wtgias.conf to the bottom of the file assuming that it is the correct one. I the re-booted instead of using apache -k restart. The Oracle HTTP Server started, so there is hope. The install instructions state that the httpd.conf file would most likely be in the program files directory, when they are really installed in the Oracle Lite home directory.
         k. According to the documentation the Mobile Server should start when the Oracle HTTP Server starts with the wtgias.conf file added to the httpd.conf file. It does not. If I use Process Explorer, I know that Apache loaded the wtgias.conf, because both Apache.exe processes that are running have the wtgias.dll loaded. The facts are at this stage of the game are
              1. OraMTSRecoveryService is started
              2. OracleOraHome92HTTPService is started
              3. OracleOraHome92Listener is started on port
              4. OracleServiceFIA is started
              5. Apache.exe has the wtgias.dll loaded
              6. The Moble Server is not running and it should be if the documentation is correct.
              7. If I start the Mobile Server either as a service using wtgsvc -i or with the webtogo command from the DOS prompt, the Mobile Server starts, but when I attempt to log in with the URL http://Yggdrasill:7778/webtogo/startup it inform me the Mobile Server is not started and it is. Figure 3 shows the response I receive from the login attempt.
         l. I finally ran the Mobile Server in total debug mode using the command webtogo -d0", and it gave me the subtle hint that the correct URL is
              http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu/webtogo/startup.
When I use the above URL and I can login to the Mobile Server with UN = fiafield, and PW = fiafield. I was confused by the documentation. I was under the assumption that the host address would be either http://Yggdrasill:7778, or http://Yggdrasill:4443. After all when I, installed Oracle Database these URLs were listed. It needs to be made clear in the installation guide for the mobile server that the Mobile Server address is http://Your servers WWW address/webtogo/startup, and the statements about the Mobile Server will start when the Oracle HTTP Server is started needs to be removed since they are incorrect. Also, the documentation should clearly state that the Schema Name, and Password given in the Repository Wizard Screen are synonymous with the username, and password for the Mobile Server login.
         m. After determning the hard way that the Mobile Server does not start when the the Oracle HTTP Server starts, and that the correct URL is http://Internet address/webtogo/startup = http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu/webtogo/startup, I decide to start the Mobile Server as a service with the command wtgsvc -i. After I re-booted, to my surprise, I could not login to the Mobile Server. When I checked the system services, the webtogo service was running. So to give the start as a service thing a fair chance I re-booted again, but obtained the same results. I thus concluded that the Mobile Server will not run correctly as a service. As it turns out my conclusion was wrong. After waiting a few minutes, my login try was successful. The documentation should indicate that after booting it may be a minute or two before the Mobile Server service become available.
         n. After some serious problems with the installer, and the documentation everything is working. I have a green light to go on to the next stage, which is program the handheld to take advantage of the Mobile Server. I will be glad to get back to programming, and am so thankful that I am not a network administrator.

  • Why can't i start my oracle 9.2.0.1.0 under Redhat linux 8.0??

When i installing oracle, after copying the files, it telled me "install successfully" , but when it in the procedure: "Linking Oracle9i Database 9.2.0.1.0", it stop and auto exit.
But I think i should have installed finish. So I try to start it. As below:
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> connect / as sysdba
    ERROR:
ORA-09925: Unable to create audit trail file
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory
    Additional information: 9925
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    How can I start it?
Is that because I hadn't set the value of "/proc/sys/kernel/sem" before I install oracle? It's original value is "250 3200 32 128", I don't know what it should be under Redhat Linux 8.0.
    Can anybody help me?
    thanks.

    I followed the directions here
    http://www.puschitz.com/OracleOnLinux.shtml
Using this I was able to get 9201 installed on both SuSE8.1 and RedHat8.0.
On RH8, You have to hand modify the ins_ctx.mk per his instructions and up the value in /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax per his instructions. I did not hit the binutils issue. Other failures are probably missing rpms, as he describes.

I'm more than a bit confused why anyone would be installing, 10 years after its release, a now desupported version of the product. It seems from what you posted that you are installing on an operating system version that did not exist when 9i (whatever that means - 9.0.3 or 9.2.0.5 are version numbers) was released.
I would suggest installing 10.2.0.1 on Redhat 4, 11.1.0.6 on version 5, finding an ancient version of the O/S if you want 9.x or playing games with the install to see if you can trick it into thinking you have compatibility which is generally speaking a bad idea.

  • Pro*C installed under ORACLE_HOME different from that of the RDBMS???

    Mark, Kamal,
The situation I have created (mixed versions) is because I am supposed to be developing using the Oracle 10gr2 Express Edition database. There is no developer suite available for 10gr2, so I must use 10gr1. Normally, I go to great lengths to avoid this sort of situation, but I don't have much control over it here.
I think this would be a fairly common work environment (running 10g r2 express or enterprise) with a 10g r1 development suite. That I am having this many problems with setting it up is very frustrating. I've never spent more that a couple of hours on an install and configuration on a development environment, but haven't set one up since 9.2.
What are "all the environment variables"? I am used to setting ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME. I am aware of LD_LIBRARY_PATH and it's use, but I don't normally change it unless required. By setting ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID, the precompiler works okay, so I'll leave it like that. Are there other env. vars. that have to be set?
Pro*C links with shared libraries by default. I'm not even sure that this can be changed to static. When I install the built pro*c executables, do I have to install the shared libraries from under the development ORACLE_HOME as well?

  • Cant not run root.sh u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/install/rootinstall:

    Hello,

    Farrukh Salman,

    Hello,
Thanks to reply, I have installed RAC 10g R2last month have to redo it coz of SAN connectivity driver failure and cross checked all the required RPMs again its all ok mean time I got a reply by metalink support as under
    As per bug
    Bug 4113186
Looking at script /oracle/CRSHome/bin/ocrconfig, looks the installer didn't
create the script properly as ORA_CRS_HOME is left null as below:
    ORA_CRS_HOME=
    ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/CRSHome
Hence changing ORA_CRS_HOME to point to /oracle/CRSHome resolves this.
Can you please help me out to understand these lines.

  • Install linux redhat for oracle 10g2

    Hi Friends,
I will install linux redhat linux 5 for oracle 10g 2. How to created correct partition of linux to match oracle 10g 2.
I install linux as server style. any advice?
    Thanks
    JIm

    Hi JIm
It is true that for us DBA the OFA is the standard by excellence. You have also the quite good document on that gives you also a lot of examples.
    http://www.ss64.com/orasyntax/ofa.html
What is a style server? Do you mean as a template server?
Please note also that if you need to do more than 1 installation you can clone your binaries from your first installation. Ideally you should patch it to he latest release and then make your clone.
    1. tar your current binaries under /oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1
    2. copy the tar file on the target server under /export/home/oracle and then untar it.
    3. cd to new_oracle_home/oui
    4. ./runInstaller -clone -silent ORACLE_HOME="<new_oracle_home>" ORACLE_HOME_NAME="<unique_home_name>"
    read more on http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15660/app_cloning.htm
You can also clone your database to other targets
1 Duplicate from source to your targets
1.1 Perform a database backup including archive log
1.2 Create an Oracle password file for the auxiliary instance
1.3 Establish Oracle Net connectivity to the auxiliary instance
1.4 Create an initialization parameter file for the auxiliary instance
1.5 Start the auxiliary instance in NOMOUNT mode
1.6 Mount or open the target database
1.7 Ensure that backups and archived redo log files are available
1.8 Allocate auxiliary channels if needed
    1.9 Execute the DUPLICATE script
Hope this will help you to get the templates installed.
    Cheers
    Hubert

  • HP OfficeJet J6410 won't install under Windows 8 & Windows 8.1

Recently I made a posting about installing the HP OfficeJet J6410 printer on my daughter's new HP laptop.
Please, before answering my question, I would like to point out to two earlier postings from me.
    1. The first posting.
Around april this year (2014) I bought a new laptop for myself (a HP 15 Notebook PC, d081ed). It had Windows 8.1 pre-installed on it. At first I had problems installing the HP OfficeJet J6410 printer. I received a very usefull reply by which I was able to solve the problem.
Read more about this posting here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officet-J6410-won-t-install-under-Wind...
    2. The second posting.
Almost two weeks ago a bought a second HP laptop (HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11-e000ed) voor my daughter. This laptop had Windows 8 pre-installed on it. I experienced the same problem with the printer and made a posting. Unfortunatelly that didn't resolve the problem. I received no further reactions. The problem is still unsolved.
Read more about this posting here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/HP-OfficeJet-J6410-won-t-install-under...
    A. What have I done afterwards?
Afterwards the previous above I first made sure I had all the updates for Windows 8 installed. I've read that in the case of the laptop of my daughter I could upgrade for free to Windows 8.1. So I did that too.
    B. Why a second posting?
Since I upgraded to Windows 8.1. I realized my second posting wasn't quite accurate anymore. I realized it could lead to confusion since I now don't have Windows 8 installed on it anymore.
    Now here's the strange part.
    B.1.
On my own laptop (d081ed, HP 15 Notebook PC) I have the same operating system (Windows 8.1. ) as I now have on the laptop for my daughter (11-e000ed, HP Pavillion Touchsmart)
    B.2.
After upgrading I tried the same steps, as described in my first posting, on the laptop for my daughter.
Strangely enough, and although we now both have a HP laptop with exactly the same operating system on it, I can not get the printer installed.
What can be wrong? I tried updating, the scrubber, the packages to solve the C++ redistributable packages... nohting works! And worse!! It seems I somehow made the problem worse...
Why do I think that, and are there things or error-messages that are different than the one I experienced before (with my own laptop, see point 1 above at the beginning of this posting).
    B.2.1.
The first thing that is different:
If I want to install the printer, and after it extracted files, checked the system and prepares it for installation, I receive the message:
    C:\users\<username of my daughter.\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS0FF0\Setup\de..
This is different than the message (Program: C\Users\IRN\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS28Db\Setup.exe) I experienced with my own laptop (the d081ed).
    Note the difference between:
..Temp\7zS0FF0\Setup\de.. (<-- that is the message I get on the laptop of my daughter)
    and
..Temp\7zS28Db\Setup.exe (<-- that is the message I had on my own laptop)
    B.2.2.
The second thing that is different:
At some point I installed, after upgrading to Windows 8.1, the SP 40669 package. I can't remember having done that on my own laptop.
    B.2.3.
On my own laptop I installed the C+++ packages for 2005, 2008 and 2010.
On the one for my daughter I only installed the C+++ package for 2010 (KB2562063, version 10.0.30319 and 10.0.40219, but I don't think that is the problem really, correct my if I'm wrong).
    B.2.4.
Before I upgraded to Windows 8.1. I got an error message at rebooting the system (in Dutch
    explorer.exe - Toepassingsfout
De instructie op 0x5d2c3e01 verwijst naar geheugen op 0x00000000. Een lees- of schrijfbewerking op het geheugen is mislukt: read.
Klik op OK als u het programma wilt beëindigen.
And after that the message doesn't wait for your click on OK. It just flashes away very quickly. Since I got that message a couple of times, I did manage to capture it with the camcorder on my mobile phone. In that way I was able to describe you the message as exactly as here above.
I sometimes get the message again, and then not. So it's not consistent. It seems to me the problem there is with explorer.exe and not with the printerproblem, but I'm not sure. Couple of days later, there were new updates for Windows 8.1, which I installed, and the error-message didn't show up again the last few days.
    Last request.
I would really appreciate some help with this. The reason I like the printer installed is because of the HP Solution Center. I'm sure my daughter would use it for scanning documents needed for her study and printing activities.
I installed the basic printer for the time being, but only as I temporarily work-around, so she can - at least - print all of her study materials. Scanning, on the other hand, is some differtent then, but that is a known problem with the basic printer driver.
I truly don't understand this problem. We both have an HP laptop, we both have the same operating system now (Windows 8.1) and stil .. on my laptop I managed to install the printer, and on hers not.
    Please help me.
(p.s. I do have a HP support Pack for both laptops, and if one thinks that this problem is too complex and would redirect me to HP support ... no offense taken, from my side. But, I really would like to try to solve problem myself at first and would really appreciate your help with it. )

    Hello RNRMusicMan,
Glad you're willing to help me out. So Sorry I couldn't send a message earlier. I had a few appointments the last few days and afterwards I had to little time to spend enought time to try to solve te problem.
    But o.k, let's continue.
I've followed the steps you mentioned as a second option. I'll describe what I've done.
First I tried the Hp printer install wizzard
    No succes
Same error occured  …\setup\de.. (at the second fase of the installation program of the printersoftware)
    Restarted the system
    I used the Scrubber
    L4
Error: uninstaller didn't work. Clicked ok
    Restart
At restart I got the same error about something with the memory. (In dutch; 'De instructie op 0x5d2c3e01 verwijst naar geheugen op 0x00000000. Een lees- of schrijfbewerking op het geheugen is mislukt: read.' and please note that 0x5d2c3e01 was this with different numbers etc, but I guess that's just the adress in the memory where the program wants to read/write to)
    I continued with cleanboot
Msconfig – services – hide all microsoft services – disable
Startup – system configuration – open task manager
On startup tab in task manager – I disabled each startup item
    Closed taskmanager
Startup – system configuration – checked ok box
    Restarted
Tried to install again with the OI_AIO_J6400_Full_Win_WW_140_4.exe software I downloaded from the hp website
At ‘systeem wordt voorbereid op installatie’ I got the same error again: ‘C:\Users\Simone\AppData\Local-\Temp\7zS46SD\Setup\de..
After this I followed the steps as described to start up again normally (that is: msconfig, enabling the services again, etc.) and that step went o.k and as aspected, so no problems there.
After that I restarted the system again. I didn't get the message about the problem with the memory again. So I guess that must have been due to the error in the scrubber program.
I really don't understand this. Me and my daughter both have a hp, both the same OS (windows 8.1), and on my laptop I got the printer running and hers not. What can it be? I'm guessing that there most have been something that went wrong then with either the installation with one of the windows 8 or windows 8.a upgrades, or with the upgrading from windows 8 to windows 8.1. Or is that to far fetched? But that just a question I have, trying to understand what went wrong or what could be the cause of this.
So what now? It didn't work.
    Update (29-9-14):
Since all the suggested solutions didn't work out I decided to start all over.
One of the reasons I decided to do so, was the following:
I've got an external DVD writer (Samsung, Slim External, model SE-8084D/TSWS) that I needed to use for installation of the HP J6410 CD that came with the printer, since the laptop of my daughter doesn't have a built-in DVD player.
Now here the strange thing! When I use it on my own laptop, it starts the software on the the HP J6410 DVD flawlessly. No problems there! But, when I connect it to the laptop of my daughter, it sees the CD and I can explore the files on it. But, when I try to start HPSetup.exe on it it does ... nothing!! Now that's very stange! Me and my daughter both have a HP laptop, with the same OS. Still it functions normally on my laptop, and on for the one for my daughter it does nothing. Same with the software that you can download from the HP site. It runs on my computer, but gives errors on the one for my daugther. So I guess that was a good reason to decide to start all over again from scratch
This is what I've done so far.
    - I made a (full) factory recovery.
    - I've installed all the updates for Windows 8.
    - After that I upgraded to Windows 8.1 again and installed all of the updates for it as well.
    - I removed the antivirus program (Norton Antivirus)
    - After that is done I tried to install the printer again.
    No success!
But.. I'm convinced I've found out where the problem might lay.
My daughter had c++ 2012 redistributable installed (version 11.0.50727).
My other laptop doesn't. An even older hp laptop (with Windows Vista on it) does neither. On those laptops the printer software ran.
On the new laptop for my daughter it doesn't.
So.. I'm suspecting the problem does not lay in the printer software but in the c++ 2012 redistributable package.
Another difference is that my own laptop had an Intel processor. The one for my daughter has an AMD.
So I am convinced the problem must lay in the C++ 2012 package (maybe combined with the AMD processor? I don't know) and NOT the printer software.
Anyone got any ideas on what to do next?
If so, I thankfully await your answer.

  • HP OfficeJet J6410 won't install under Windows 8

    Hello to you all,
Two days ago, I bought a new notebook for my daughter. She needs it for her study. It's the HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11-e000ed.
Again, just like the situation I wrote about before in this topic over here (link: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officet-J6410-won-t-install-under-Wind... the OfficeJet Printer J6410 won't install under Windows 8.
Now this is what I've done before the problem occured:
    - I made a username and password for her,
    - I activated Windows 8,
    - I made a recovery-point,
    - I took my external DVD writer, installed Office 2007 Home and Student for her (o.k, I know it's old, but it's very o.k - and legal copy -. for her study, used it myself as well and still do, and never any complaints about that one), and activated it,
    After that and restarting the notebook;
    - the notebeek activated USB 2.0 (it does that automatically at first use),
    - installed XPS2OneNote (to use for Office OneNote 2007),
    - installed SaveAsPDF&XPS,
    - removed Norton Internet Security (I never use it, I use something else for that purpose, but was - and still am - planning to install that on a later moment),
    - I made sure the notebook can access the server we have here at home, and made a share for her.
After that I used the OJ_AIO_J6400_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe file (Dutch, but I'll translate the text in English).
From this point on I will describe as precisely as possible what happened
    - - the program extracts some files, no problems there,
    - - when the first screen appears, I pressed 'Install',
    - -  a bar appears, and after that another pop-up that says tha you must allow all HP processes. I pressed 'Next',
    - - system is controlled, and after that one must agree with the licence agreements. I checked the box, and pressed 'Next',
    - - the system is prepared for installation and - yes! - there it comes... an error message.
    The error message says:
    C:\users\<username of my daughter.\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS0FF0\Setup\de..
Please not that this is a different message than the one I got before, as I described in my posting before, (link again: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officet-J6410-won-t-install-under-Wind...
Nonehteless, I assumed that, as before, the problem was with the C+++, just like before. That is why I made the following steps:
    - I used the OJ_AIO_J6400_140_408_Scrubber program, run L4 4 times.
    - I looked for the KB2565063 update, but it isn't there anymore. So, instead, I ran all updates there are until the system said that there are no updates to be found,
    - After that I took the old installation disk that came with the OfficeJet J6410 printer, and (tried to) ran hpsetup.exe. It doesn't do a thing! Literally!!
    - after that I tried to run the the OJ_AIO_J6400_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe file again. No success. I got the same error as before (see above, the ..\7zS0FF0\Setup\de.. thing again.
    So, what to do now?
Anyone got some helpfull tips for me? I would really appreciate your feedback / help.
    Thank you in advance,

    Hi again,
No, it didn't work. And, the solution you offered neither.
    This is what I've done.
After downloading the  OJ_AIO_J6400_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe file, I tried to install it.
It failed. I got an error message similar to the one before.
    'C:\users\<username of my daughter.\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS57DB\Setup\de.'
I tried to ran the scrubber again, and the CCCUninstaller and tried again.
    Same error message occured.
After that I tried to look for the KB2565063 file again. Found it this time and ran the vcredist_x64 file.
I rebooted the system, tried to run the OJ_AIO_J6400_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe file again.
    Same error message ocuured.
So, after that, I followed the steps you proposed.
Step 2 - searching for hpoins*.dat --> no results found.
Step 3 - searching for hpwins*.dat --> no results found.
Step 4 - I ran the Run Dialog box and typed MSIEXEC /REGSERVER (with AND without the extra space between ('MSIEXEC /REGSERVER') in the Dialog Box and pressed Ok.
Got an error message in Dutch:
'Kan het bestand MSIEXEC /REGSERVER niet vinden. Controleer of u de naam juist hebt ingevoerd en probeer het daarna opnieuw.
Translation: 'Can't find the file MSIEXEC /REGSERVER. Check if you typed the name correctly and try again'.
Step 5 - I ran the Run Dialog box and typed MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER (with AND without the extra space between ('MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER') in the Dialog Box and pressed Ok.
Got an error message in Dutch:
'Kan het bestand MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER niet vinden. Controleer of u de naam juist hebt ingevoerd en probeer het daarna opnieuw.
Translation: 'Can't find the file MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER. Check if you typed the name correctly and try again'.
    So... conclusion: NOTHING worked.
My ideas for a possible solution didn't work, and neither did your ideas for a possible solution.
Reason why I want it to work is because of the HP Solution Center. If I can not install it with the software from the original installation disk, or the software that one can download from the HP site (the OJ_AIO_J6400_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe file that is), than I have no HP Solution Center. That would be a pity, for I am sure my daughter would really love the use and ease of the program, and would really use it a lot for her study.
What's next? What else can I try to solve the problem?
Got any more idea's or helpful hints?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Oracle XE service does not get installed

    Hi,
2 days ago downloaded Oracle 10 g Express Edition and installed on my computer. It installed succesfully and gave no erros. But when I tried to go to the homepage it failed to open. Then I check the services.msc and found that OracleXEService was not there. Then I uninstalled it and installed 11g XE Release2. But again the same problem. What's wrong with this? Does the OracleXE setup install both client and server side?

Well, there must be something going wrong on your system, and there should be some clue either in the installation process itself, or in the log files.
On my system, there are five logs in the directory named above:
    cloneDBCreation.log
    CloneRmanRestore.log
    postDBCreation.log
    postScripts.log
    XE.bat.log
Do you have any of these? If not, you could try a silent installation as documented in the [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABBCGHA]Installation Guide. That way you'll definetly get a log file for the installation. There is also a silent mode for a repair installation. Perhaps you could try that as well.

  • Oracle on windows cluster, with failsafe installed. Can it be switched live

    Hi all
We have a oracle database, 10.2.0.4, installed on a 2 node Windows cluster (2003 R2 64 bit). Only one node is the active node. On top of this Failsafe is installed.
    Oracle is used for SAP.
Normally when I need to switch the Oracle database from node1 to node2 I follow this procedure:
    1 bring down SAP
    2 set the database offline
3 switch the Oracle database using failsafe
    4 set the database online
    5 start sap
Being a hospital we just want to have SAP up all the time, this procedure only takes 20 min but I wondered if the switch could be done live
So just go into the failsafe manager and switch, (won't do it in prime time of course)
Can this live switch result in a corrupt database?
    Thanks for replying

    Hi,
to do it really life you need another technology than a "failover cluster". You can use RAC for this.
A failover cluster itself needs to be sure that the stack is down, before bringing it up on the other side. If not this can leed to corruptions... (though Oracle will try to prevent them in most cases)...
