    Hi
    I believe this is covered in the online documention:

  • Oracle Application Server

    1) I understand that Oracle Application Server (OAS) is no longer supported by Oracle. Oracle 9i Application Server (9iAS) has replaced OAS. Is this correct info?
    2) We have Oracle Application (ERP) running on database 8.1.7 in 1 unix box. We are creating a web application. If possible we would like to use the same unix box. The web server should be Oracle. Should it be Oracle 9i Application Server? If the web server and database server are on different unix box, can we use the same login table(s) and access control set up in the ERP application for our web application?
    3) Forms, report and graphic will be developed using Developer 2000 and deploy to the web server. Is this the right way?
    Appreciate your help to answer my questions. Read up the forum but somehow it confuses me. I'm new to Oracle web development.

    1) I think you are correct, I never used OAS but Oracle replaced it with 9iAS.
    2) Not sure.
    3) It would be better to develop with Oracle Internet Developer Suite (iDS) It carry Forms and Reports (9i) Developer versions with it. This family of products are designed to develop apps for 9iAS.
    Thanks for your reply.
    My understanding is Oracle 9iAS Release 1 carry Forms, Report & Graphs (6i) developer version with it. And 9iAS Release 2 carry Forms, Report & Graphs (9i) developer version with it. Is this the correct understanding?
    Was wondering if there is any way to have Devloper 9i on 9iAS Release 1.

  • Deploying Web services on Oracle Application Server

    Hi,
    I am not sure whether this is the forum where I should post this question.
    I am trying to deploy a webservice on Oracle iAS version1.0.0. But when I navigate to Oracle CRM Administrator(responsibility)-->Integration-->services I get a message telling that the server needs to be upgraded to version 1.0.2.2
    I would like to know, from which version of Oracle Application server is the web services supported.
    Thanks in advance
    Pratheusha

    Web Services are supported on IAS (OC4J) 9.0.4, 10.1.2 and 10.1.3. The 10.1.3 web services stack supports the JAX-RPC standard while prior versions supported a proprietary programming model.
    What type of webservice are you trying to deploy?

  • Does Oracle Application Server (10.1.3.4.0) support JSF 1.2?

    Sorry for the double post, but I realized this was more appropriate in the OC4J forum so posted it there. Not sure how to delete this one :-(.
    I am trying to migrate from JSF 1.1 to JSF 1.2 on OC4j 10.1.3.4.0 and am running in to problems. I recently stumbled on this post:
    http://kjvarga.blogspot.com/2008/12/oc4j-1013-does-not-support-jsf-12.html
    Which reads as follows:
    I spent a very frustrating day wading through the version soup that is JavaServer Faces and trying to deploy a JSF 1.2 app on on OC4J 10.1.3 container. To save you a lot of time, OC4J DOES NOT SUPPORT JSF 1.2.
    This technical paper explains that OC4J 10.1.3 (all versions) supports Servlet 2.4, JSP 2.0 and JSF 1.1.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/whitepapers/OC4J-FOV-10131.pdf
    And this handy webpage explains that "JSF 1.2 is the latest release and it works with servlet 2.5 and jsp 2.1". So obviously it's not compatible. It also details all the versions of Java technologies that each JSF version relies upon.
    http://www.roseindia.net/jsf/jsf-versions.shtml
    Is this true? I can't use the JSF spec released in 06 on the most current version of oracle application server? Could someone please confirm/deny/shed some light?
    Thanks so much,
    Yeuker

    Found a bit more information located here:
    http://wiki.glassfish.java.net/Wiki.jsp?page=JavaServerFacesRI
    See the section entitled
    "Do I have to use a JSP 2.1/Servlet 2.5 container with the Mojarra version 1.2?" which states:
    If you're using JSPs for your view descriptions, then yes, you will need to use a JSP 2.1/Servlet 2.5 compliant container. However, if you're using another view technology, such as Facelets or JSFTemplating, you can run JSF 1.2 within a Servlet 2.4 container with out issue.
    Now here is the part that may make me look like a newb... not sure if I am "using JSP's for my view descriptions"... what does that mean anyway?
    I dont think I am not using Facelets or JSFTemplating. I'm just using standard JSF... All of my pages end in jsp and the standard faces servlet that makes all *.faces requests go through the faces controller servlet. There is really no JSP EL code in my faces pages, just standard jsf tags h:form, f:selectItems, h:inputText etc...
    So my question is... am I using JSP's for my view descriptions?

  • Do older versions of Oracle Application Server support Containers for J2EE?

    Do older versions of Oracle 9iAS support Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE (OC4J)?
    I went to the our companies application server directory. I don't see an oc4j or j2ee directory.
    Thanks,
    Merced

    How far back are you looking? ANd what, in particular, are you looking for ...
    The history of the Oracle 'internet service' that I remember is roughly:
    Web Server 2.1 (mid 1990s)
    Web Application Server 3.x (mid 1990s)
    Oracle Application Server 4.0.x (late 1990s)
    Oracle Internet Application Server 1.0.x (2000)
    Oracle Application Server 8i (basically 1.0.2.22.2.z)
    Oracle Application Server 9i (9.0.2, 9.0.3)
    Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4, 10.?.1)
    Oracle had an initial J2EE container [attempt] with 4.0.x but that never really took off. I think that was really around the time of the last beta revisions for the JSP spec, and that's left us with the legacy of JServ apps. Seems like you would see OJSE, Oracle JSE (Java Server Engine?) in the docco and path.
    IIRC, the current OC4J lineage started with around IAS 1.0.2 and has moved forward on what is now OC4J. There were some opportunities in the early days to improve consistency in the naming and directory structure areas. That has some lineage from Ironflare's Orion engine and so occasionally you see 'Orion' in the messages.

  • Developing for a Oracle Application Server with SSO

    Hello there,
    I'm developing an application (Java) that will be deployed as a partner application within an Oracle Application Server 10g at my client. This Oracle instance has a SSO already configured, and my app will use this Identity Manager (consuming the cookie). The problem is that at my company we don't have a SSO system configured, not even an Oracle Application Server, just a simple Oracle XE 10g to hold data. So I'm wondering how can I do to develop my application and test it.
    I was looking forward to install an OAS and configure an SSO to validate my implementation, but the download link provided by Oracle is broken (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/index.html). Another alternative that I thought of was to install an OC4J and configure a Java SSO to simulate the behavior of OSSO, and make my app the cookie set by it. But OC4J supports only til Servlet 2.4 and my app is using 2.5...
    And to complete, I cannot access my client's environment. I'm supposed to write a Deploying document telling him how to deploy my app and then try to access it through Internet.
    Does anyone have an idea of how can I develop and test my app in my company's environment?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bruno Krebs.

    Apache 2.0 based OHS is located in Oracle Application Server Companion CD.

    1)Yes it supports IE 8 .Please review the below link for certification details on browers :-
        http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/as-certification-r2-101202-095871.html#BAJGCBEA
         Note: Oracle Application Server supports only those browsers.

  • Oracle Application Server 10G base release on AIX 5.1 L

    We are having 2 AIX Servers with AIX 5L V5.1 working through cluster HACMP V 4.5 and Oracle Application Server 9.0.2.3 ported on one of its node se,because of the bug in the AS we have disabled the clustering services on the node porting the Application Server as the AS crashes as soon as the services shift over to the node on which it is installed.
    We now want to enable the cluster services so we are upgrading the AS to 10g base release.Can this be done on AIX V 5.1 with HACMP V 4.5 .The certification matrix on the metalink doesnot say anything about this.
    any information regarding this would be really helpful to us

    9.0.4 is supported only on AIX 5L 5.2 and 5.3.

  • Oracle Application server 10g on RHEL 4

    Hi Experts,
    I have a oracle application server 10.1.3 which is installed on a IBM blade server which has Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (RHEL4) as operating system.
    The server has a RAM of 8GB and has 4 processors (Intel XEON 3.8 GHz).
    I have deployed an application on this server, the application has been developed in Oracle ADF (ver 10g). The jdeveloper version used for development was 10.1.3.2.0
    I want to ask how many concurrent user session this server can handle concurrently. And how can i perform a stree or load testing on this server.
    Are there testing tools available for stress testing (pls provide any name).
    Using this configuration can this server can it handle around 500 sessions of users.
    Thanks in advance .

    May be possible but it is probably not tested by Oracle nor is it supported as error correction support for OAS 10g has finished more than a year ago.
    A good starting point is My Oracle Support Note [url https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=564174.1]564174.1, "Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Installation Requirements for Linux OEL 5 and RHEL 5". • Install and configure report service on Oracle Application Server 10g

    i want to know how to install and configure report service on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0)
    Thanks

    the case is that we developed an ADF Application, so we want to deploy it on the latest version of Oracle Application server.
    our application communicate with Oracle reports (run oracle reports from our Application) as there are no Oracle report products for JEE Application.

  • How to use JavaMail 1.4 with Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4.0.0)

    Hi all,
    I'd like to know if it's possible and how to use JavaMail 1.4 with Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4.0.0), Windows version.
    With the following code, I can see that the mail.jar used by the server is the one included in the jdk installation :
    // I'm testing InternetAddress.class because I want to use commons-email-1.2.jar that requires mail.jar 1.4 (or higher) and activation.jar 1.1 (or higher)
    // and I know that inside the commons-email-1.2.jar file, I need to call the InternetAddress.validate() method that throws a java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.validate()V if it is used with mail.jar 1.2.
    Class cls = javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.class;
    java.security.ProtectionDomain pDomain = cls.getProtectionDomain();
    java.security.CodeSource cSource = pDomain.getCodeSource();
    java.net.URL location = cSource.getLocation();
    System.out.println(location.toString());
    This code returns : file:/C:/oracle/app/jdk/jre/lib/ext/mail.jar and this mail.jar file has an implementation version number: 1.2
    - I've tried to include my own mail.jar (1.4.2) and activation.jar (1.1.1) files in the war file that I deploy, but it doesn't work (the server still uses the same mail.jar 1.2)
    - I've tried to put the mail.jar (1.4.2) and activation.jar (1.1.1) files in the applib directory of my OC4J instance, but it doesn't work (the server still uses the same mail.jar 1.2)
    - I know that a patch exists : I've read the following document: How to Make Libraries such as mail.jar and activation.jar Swappable ? [ID 552432.1]
    This article talks about the Patch 6514136, but this patch only applies to : Oracle Containers for J2EE - Version: 10.1.3.3.0
    Can you please help me ?
    Thanks in advance for your answers,
    Laurent

    I strongly suggest to upgrade to AS 10.1.3 to get this.
    Think of future support of AS 9.0.4. You will get not critical patch updates anymore.

  • Oracle application server 10.1.3.1.0 install - JAVA error

    Hi Everyone,
    I am trying to Install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 on 32 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.8 (Tikanga)
    When running the Installer, I use the -ignoreSysPrereqs option because 10.1.3.1.0 is only supported with Linux Server 4, I believe. But I know people have installed it on Linux 5.7 and 5.8
    anyways, Oracle application server gets installed and asks me to run root.sh. I run root.sh and then hit the OK button to proceed,
    At this point, it tries to run the configuration assistant and fails right away with the following error:
