Hello,
TWO_TASK is a UNIX-specific environment variable. The equivalent on Windows is called "LOCAL". You can find out more about LOCAL here:
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/win.102/b14304/ap_net.htm#i634314
I don't think LOCAL will be relevant for you. You should know if you set it - it does not get set automatically.
The above link comes from the "Oracle® Database Platform Guide 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit)" located here:
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/win.102/b14304/toc.htm
1) I assume you are installing the software on Windows - is that correct?
2) What is the value of your PATH variable?
3) Please post the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files from each Oracle Home. Change proprietary information if necessary.
4) Please post the listener.ora file from the server software Oracle Home. Change proprietary information if necessary.
Thanks,
Mark

I cannot seem to download oracle database 10g release 2 for windows at all. I have tried consistently the entire day. Is it available for download?
As I need this software quite urgently, are there any mirror sites or alternative sites that I can download it from? Or is there anywhere that I can source the installation cd's from... I am based in Johannesburg, South Africa?

Which one is best for an x86_64 install? These options are platform independent (x86_64). These options are dependent on purpose of use.
I plan to recompile PHP 5.2.0 to connect to the Oracle database. This is the purpose. And according this information I suggest you to install InstantClient.
Note standalone Instant client is shipped also as separate installation archive, so you don't need to download whole DB installation archive. You can find it here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html
I would like to install client software on a different machine which is running Fedora Core 5 with IP address 192.168.0.5. But the Universal Installer refuses to run on Fedora Core 5 -- it is not a supported operating system. There is no magic to allow running a client on Fedora Core 5 or 6?Yes, there is. Execute: ./runInstaler -ignoreSysPrereqs

  • Oracle database 7 for download

    Dear all,
There's an oracle database 7 in my company. Because of company requirment , i need to upgrade it to oracle database version 10gR2. But we have only one DB ( no clustering) in our environment, so i think maybe installing an oracle DB 7 first to simulate exporting / importing data to oracle 9i is a safer solution. But i couldn't find the original oracle DB 7 install CD, could it be possible to download it from any website? Any help would be appreciated.
    Best Regards.

An Oracle7 home is easy to clone. Just TAR the ORACLE_HOME from the source system and unTAR it at the target.
As long as the OS version is the same !
    You must first :
    a. create the Unix group and username with the same GID and UID (or you'll have to change them for the extracted directories and files with chgrp and chown if you can't create the same GID/UID)
    b. create the same directory structure (if you have ORACLE_BASE defined in the source system, set that up as well)
    c. create the .profile (or .cshrc) on the new server as the same as on the source server
    d. ensure that Unix kernel parameters relating to SHM and SEM are setup on the new server
After extracting the ORACLE_HOME, you have to update the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora entries to reflect the new server hostname/ip address.

  • Oracle 9i Personal Edition Download Problem

    Hi there,
I'm currently attempting to download Oracle 9i Personal Edition, however upon clicking on the file link, I'm being constantly presented with the login page (even after having logged in). I checked my browser (MSIE 6) and cookies are enabled. Trying the same procedure for other files yielded the same unsuccessful results. Can anyone help please (my username is [email protected]). Thanks in advance!
    Regards,

Download it again. I had the same problem the first time. It happens when there is a problem in your internet connection. The second time I downloaded it, it worked fine.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle 9i HP 9000 download problem

Firstly, the files linked to from http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/hpsoft.html download with a different size to that listed. I am certain that I haven't downloaded them incorrectly because I have checked the HTTP responses for Content-length and all but server_9201_hpunix64_disk2.cpio.gz gunzip/cpio without complaint. Here are the size comparisons:
    Disk No.|Claimed |Actual
    1 |566,419,019|566,417,222
    2 |648,282,885|648,282,438
    3 |538,652,554|538,650,624
    4 |37,595,939 |78,346,808
My disk2 matches the content-length I observed, but I would be much appreciative of someone providing a CRC or md5 checksum for the file server_9201_hpunix64_disk2.cpio.gz so that I am not wasting my time with another large download if it happens to be corrupt on the server itself. If OTN would care to publish this, that would be even more appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

The filesizes you report are accurate and we will update the web page accordingly. Thank you for reporting this error.

  • Having download problems ?

As you may know, OTN has had a problem with only a few number of customers being able to download software off its site.
Specifically, many customers wanting to download Oracle products were unable to get a connection to the FTP server.
As a workaround we allowed Forms and Reports customers to order trial CDs (a few other products were already doing this as a workaround).
However, some customers were complaining that they didn't receive their CDs (waiting 4-5 weeks!!).
This was not unique to Forms/Reports customers. There were approx.
70,000 CDs ordered total. It turns out that there was a bottleneck between the people collecting the orders and those fulfilling them.
That bottleneck has been removed. The orders will now go directly to the people fulfilling them.
Additionally, the larger problem seems to have a solution in site, a new OC3 pipe is being installed and is still on track for completion by end of June.

Oracle has a many bottlenecks. For example,
this forum can not be watched with IE5 and
others unless you choose "Show all topics".
So, many users see nothing.I use Netscape 4.7 and I have the same problem, perhaps the oracle database has a y2k problem? After all this does seem to be a date related problem!
Mozilla milestone 15 has the same problem! I would say that the database is totally broken.

  • Oracle 9i Database Download Problem

I have been trying to download a Personal Edition of Oracle 9i database. This fails with a page not found error.
    - Server name : UK
    - Filename : Oracle 9i database
    - Date/Time : 14:20 pm (GMT)
    - Browser + Version : IE 5
    - O/S + Version : Windows 2000
    - Error Msg : Page not found

    Hello,
Due to the popularity of OTN's software downloads, we sometimes experience periods of high load on our systems. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you have downloaded a file and it appears to be corrupt, it is most likely that your connection is being dropped or lost during the transfer process.
    Here are a few suggestions:
    1) Please make sure that your proxy server settings are correct before attempting to download again and try alternating between browsers.
    2) There is download management software available that you can try at http://www.getright.com that provides the "resume" feature. Please try using this software and let us know if it has any effect on your download.
    3) Please try changing the URL of the software you would like to download from
    http://download.oracle.com/xxx/xxx.zip to:
    a) http://download-west.oracle.com/
    b) http://download-east.oracle.com/
    c) http://download-uk.oracle.com/
    4) Try an alternate internet browser

  • Download problems Oracle Database 10g Express Edition

    Completed download.
Attempted to start application but cannot find the server.
Removed the software using add/remove programs.
Attempted to reinstall but it seems that some applications are still on my system.
Attempted to remove the application but the add/remove program does not recognized the application
    What can I do.

    Hello,
I need to install "Oracle database 10g Express Edition" with different database name example dev but it is taking
default name that is XE and there is no option come during installation where i can put the name of database as per my desire.First, note that you can't install more than one instance of XE per server. Changing the instance name won't help you with that.
As you've already found out, the installer always creates a database instance with default names. That's part of the "Express" concept: As little configuration as necessary to get a Oracle Database installed with just a few clicks. The second advantage is, that you can also simplify the documentation, as you can forget about several aspects when you don't have to configure them...
Since you don't have tools like dbca in XE, your only option would be to rename the database once it's created. There are a few threads on that topic in this forum, e. g. {thread:id=403056}.
But before you start working on that, could you explain why exactly you have to use a different database/instance name?
And also explain why we use "Oracle database 10g Express Edition" instead of Oracle database 10g. what is the meaning of Express Edition. Why and how should we answer why you picked a certain edition? The most likely cause is license costs: XE is available for free, all others are just free as long as you use the OTN license...
For an overview, there is a [url http://www.oracle.com/us/products/database/enterprise-edition/comparisons/index.html]Comparison Matrix for Oracle Database Editions.
I'd furthermore ask why you still use 10g XE instead of the current 11g XE?

  • Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit)

First of all my windows is not genuine, but on my friend's desktop oracle download and installation  worked fine, he chose "create and configure database" options, and it works very well on his desktop, though his windows is also illegitimate. In my case, when I select "Create and configure database" option and pressed 'next",
(Go to my blog to see it with snapshots: Computer Science: Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit))
it asks to select class, I select "Desktop class" and pressed "next". The moment I pressed "next", the whole setup thing disappeared like it was never started. I searched for all possible reasons for why its not getting installed on my laptop, I used registry cleaner s/w,  deleted 25 GB of data to create free space if it were the problem, increased the virtual memory to increase the space for RAM, I did almost everything to get this setup working, but I found no success with the "Create and Configure database" option
    and
    then
I chose a "database software only" option and chose to store in a folder w/o spaces. This way, I got database s/w only and then later I found "Database configuration Assistant (DBCA)"  from windows START button and clicked to create and configure database manually. The steps are pretty much interactive and doesn't involve much brainstorming.
    The values I filled for
    1) Global Database Name :  orcl
    2) System Identifier : orcl
    3) I chose common password for both SYS and SYSTEM
    4) while on Enterprise Manager Configuration step, It asked me to create and configure listener in oracle home, so for that too, I typed "netca" in windows START menu and clicked it. There I added a listener.
    5) I chose a Storage area which was the Oracle-home itself i.e. where our installation files goes , in my case it is : C:\oracle_base\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\oradata
    6) Then after few more nitty-gritty clicks, we are set to go !
Finally to write SQL code and to create your first TABLE , type "sqlplus" in windows "START" menu and click it when it appears. A command-prompt like window appears , which will ask you for username and password, so here they are :
    Username : sys/ as sysdba
Password : (its the one you created in step 3 stated above )
After this you are ready to write your first SQL command.

Is this your solution to your original post at Oracle database 11g release 2 installation on windows 7 (64-bit) ?
Pl be aware that you should not create any custom objects in SYS or SYSTEM schema - you should create any such objects in a separate custom schema.
