Oracle Driver For Arabic Data

hi all,
My problem is, in my oracle UI, i can write an insert statement and enter arabic data into my oracle database. But if i try to execute the same SQL statement from VB, the data goes all corrupted, and i cannot retrieve the arabic data in arabic format from the database. Am trying to find out, what driver i shud use so that i can update and retrieve arabic data from my database. When i give a select statement in oracle the data appears as ??????????. Please help.
Thankx in advance

Vinod ,
Try setting the following custom command property for the provider.
myCommand.Properties("NDatatype") = True.
Also set the font of the text field in which you are taking the input
to Tahoma or some font supporting unicode.

    hi,

No. But you can with Seagate's wireless GoDrive.

  • Building a Oracle 10g db from the scratch for arabic data

I want to create a new db in Oracle 10g for storing the arabic data.
My client machine is Arabic Windows XP.
What are the steps that i will need to follow to make the db arabic supported.
What streps will be required if i choose to make it unicode supported?

Configuring the database character set to AL32UTF8 will allow the database to store any character that can be represented in the UTF-8 character set in a CHAR/ VARCHAR2 column. So that would allow you to store Arabic data in CHAR/ VARCHAR2 columns.
The client-side configuration that is necessary will depend on the sorts of client applications you are using. Normally, you would set the NLS_LANG to match the client code page, which is presumably one of the Windows code pages (probably Windows 1256 if you're using an Arabic install).

  • TM drive for other data too?

Can I put other data on my Time Machine FW drive as long as I don't poot it in the TM backups folder?

yes, you can. however, i would recommend against it. there are a number of situations when you might want to erase the TM drive and start over. having other data on the drive makes that tricky. It's better to make an extra partition for other data and keep the TM partition for TM only.

  • What are required Oracle products for moving data from IBM IMS/DB(mainframe) to Oracle environment?

I am z/OS system programmer, our company is using IMS as its main OLTP database. We are investigating moving data off the mainframe for data warehousing and online fraud detection. One option is using IBM InfoSphere CDC and DB2, another option is using IMS connect and writing our own program, I am wondering what is the oracle solution for this kind of issue?
I am not oracle technician but I googled and find out Oracle has some product like Oracle Legacy Adapters, OracleAS CDC Adapter and Oracle Connect on z/OS, however I didn't find them in Oracle site(https://edelivery.oracle.com/), I don't know whether these products are deprecated or not?!
I would very much appreciate any help or guidance you are able to give me

    Thank you for responding.
I've considered dumping the data into a flat file and using SQL*Loader to import as you suggest but this would require some scripting on a per-table basis. Again: all I want to do is to copy the contents of a table from one database to another. I do not think I should have to resort to creating my own dump and load scripts in order to do that. However I agree with you that this type of solution may be my final solution.
I've tried the db link solution. It was just a slow as the 'imp' solution for some reason. Don't know why. The tables are rather large (3 tables of a few Gb each) and therefore require intermediate commits when loaded. Otherwise the rollback segment will run out of space. So the 'db link solution' is really a PL/SQL script with a commit for each x records.
I think Oracle is making it a bit difficult for me to copy the contents of a table from one database to another and to do it efficiently. Perhaps I'm missing something here?

  • Oracle Streams for Archiving Data

    The tasks are
    1. Oracle checks everyday at a scheduled time in the required tables for "created_date" of records is 180 days old i.e (sysdate - created_date > 180).
    2. The results matching the criteria should then be sent to the Archive database or created as Files

  • External Drive for Manual Data & Time Machine Information?

    Hi All,
I'm new to the MAC world, and I'm loving every minute of it. However, with my continued use of the MAC and populating it with data, I now want to move some files off to a External HDD for safe keeping.
What I'm trying to figure out is if I buy a External HDD for my MAC, can I use it for automated time machine use as well as manually moving and creatng directories for my data?
So here's what I'm thinking coming from a PC world on this extenral HDD:
1 - A Directory for my downloaded software from the internet
2 - A Directory for my Manual File saves (Documents, Files, Pictures, and iTunes)
3 - A Final directory for my Time Machine backups.
However I don't expect to leave this drive into my MBP all the time, so is it worth while doing it this way? Or should I go for a smaller External HDD to do my manual file backups and look at getting a time capsule for the time machine backups?
The only concern that I have with the time capsule is that I already have a wireless router in the household, and don't want that items features to conflict with the primary router. Though I do like the idea of the NAS technology to keep that data online and backuped without havng to manually plug a drive into my computer all the time.
Any advice you can offer to get me to my ultimate point of a space for my manual data backups and preferabbly time machine backups would be appreicated.
Additionaly thoughts about not using time machine are definately appreciated, based on the way I want to backup the data.
I should also mention that I would prefer to keep the cost low, as the MBP acquisition of course consumed some financial resources. But again the saving of my data is equally very important as well!

yes you can do this but you should partition the external hard drive in at least two parts. keep one partition dedicated solely to Time machine backups. Do not put any other data on that partition. there are a number of situations when you might need to erase the TM partition and start backups from scratch and having other data there makes it quite inconvenient.
Another point is that you should back up all your data, not just the data on the internal drive. a backup is a second copy of the data, not the only copy. so if you keep other stuff on the external you should back it up too. therefore, if your internal drive is not big enough to hold all your data, ideally, you should get two external drives. one for extra storage and the other for TM backups of everything. TM can back up both internal and external drives. a TM drive can be a regular drive or a Time capsule. that's up to you. and of course, there are financial considerations here but you'll have to figure those out yourself.

  • WebLogic 6.1 Oracle Driver for AIX size

Can someone tell me the correct file size for the WebLogic 6.1 AIX driver
    for Oracle - oci816_8/libweblogicoci37.so ?
I ask because our oci816_8 driver fails to load when making a connection
pool, giving an UnsatisfiedLinkError, although all the paths are correct,
but if I replace it with the oci817_8 driver, the oci817_8 driver loads OK,
but gives (as expected) a DBMS driver exception. This suggests our oci816_8
driver may be corrupt. The huge difference in the file sizes reinforces that
    idea:
The file size on disk of our oci816_8 driver, which fails to load, is 197

The file size on disk of out oci817_8 driver, which loads OK, is 2.76 MB

Thanks to Kesava for the information we wanted. Looks like the driver is
probably OK. However, no joy getting it to load. We will now try the Oracle
drivers instead of the WebLogic drivers.

  • DB Link between Oracle 10g and Oracle 9i for CLOB data type

How do I transport XMLType or CLOB from oracle 9i to Oracle 10G using DBLink?
Is any restrction to DBLink, while transfering CLOB with XML data from oracle 9i to Oracle 10G?
Please let me know how i resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    DK

Well... it depends on what type of link you wish to create.
If you have same user with same password on both databases (9i and 10G), then you can create a public database link as
    CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK dblink USING 'dbalias';
Note: dbalias is the value from your TNSNAMES.ORA. The database from which you are creating the db link has to have the entry in TNS for other database.
Other method is to create a private db link
    CREATE DATABASE LINK dblink CONNECT TO user IDENTIFIED by pwd using 'dbalias';
The number of open connections from a particular database is governed by init parameter DB_LINKS (this was in 8i.. not sure about higher versions)
