Oracle EBS R12 installation problem in Windows 2003
Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle EBS R12 on Windows 2003 R2. I have installed cygwin along with required packages and also Visual studio 2005 as specified in the prerequisites of installation document.
All the validations are successful before installation but I am facing error during installation in Step3 at about 53 percent. When i checked the log file, I found that some of the files required for installation are not found in my staging area. Now I want to run MD5sum on the Staged Files.
I had downloaded md5sum_windows.txt and also run this command :
md5sum --check md5sum_Windows.txt > md5sum_result.txt
In md5sum_result.txt, I am getting error for all files. Error message is as :
oraAppDB\Disk1\data\driver\Disk1.drv
: FAILED open or read
This is repeating for all files. But i can see that the files are present in My Staging area. Do i need to set some permission for this. Please help. Desperately want to install EBS as part of perparation for my planned certification.

I have downloaded all the 33 files in oracle edelivery site. I have seen a post of yours regarding Oracle R12 installation on Windows XP. It mentions only some 25 files. Please do not rely on the that thread as it was for 12.0.x installation.
For R12 (12.1.1) you need to download the following files:
From: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Rapid Install Start Here (Part 1 of 4)
To: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) Rapid Install APPL_TOP - Disk 2 (Part 2 of 2)
Is it possible that contents of the zip file are lost during download because my stage area is about 39 GB . and also I have verfied all the files in edelivery site is downloaded too.
Also the error i mentioned in my last post, I can see the file in the directory but still its showing read error. Is it due to corruption of data. That would mean that I will have to download all 40 GB again :-(It is easy to verify the contents of the stage area directory without running md5sum, so please do so and post the results here.
Thanks,
Hussein

Oracle EBS R12.1.1 for Windows Installation
Hi,
Is there a way to install Oracle EBS R12 for Windows (using the express install) without providing the Unix Tookit Directory, Visual Studio Directory, and the Domain info? I do not know where to get these configuration information. Please help.
Thanks,Hi,
You cannot install Oracle E-Business Suite 11i/R12 without installing all pre-req. OS software. To get these software packages, you need to contact the vendors (the links are referenced in the document below).

How to Stage directory for Oracle EBS R12.1.1 on Window Server 2008 ?
Hi Every Body,
1- How to Stage directory for Oracle EBS R12.1.1 downloaded from e-delivery.com on Window Server 2008.?
-- I have download all files from e-delivery and check the md5 and all files are OK.
I extracted the entire files with winrar program to the same directory and during the unzipping I was notified to replace these files (dvd.label and component.label) and I agreed each time. So >>
2- Was that a problem ?
-- I have setup vc++ from VS6 , the sp6, cygwin , ... and set up the active directory and the domain.. and all other requirements.
BUT when i started the ebs set up it raise the "*Os User and Group Check*" error.
even if I am the only user and sure I am the Administrator. and also I run this Command to be sure
C:\>net localgroup administrators and it said that the administrator is one of the administrators group.
3- Somebody said that I have to change the temp and tmp folder to be on c:\ drive >> might this solve the problem?
thanks in advance.Hi,
Most of the instructions you have mentioned , already was configured.
except for the tmp and temp directories.
And even I changed them from System Properties >> Advanced >> Environment Variable under User variable for Administrator and System variables , the problem still exist Os User and Group Check .
I attach the conf_VIS.txt file because I thought it may help.
http://www.4shared.com/document/1bS6aio5/conf_VIS.html
Actually I am not sure about the rapid install patch version but I have download the EBS R12 from the following link and I think it contains the recent installer version
Link >> Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Media Pack for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)

Note If you still can not open the link just suggest a suitable file hosting and I will upload to you. here I used 4shared and hoped it suits you. -

Oracle EBS R12 Installation on Windows
Hi,
Will it work if I install Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) to Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)?
Does anybody have done this before (32-bit) -> (64-bit)?
I could not find any EBS R12 for Windows (64-bit).
Do I have to have a server or a regular desktop (500GB) is fine?
I have read the Doc but it does not say that specifically.
Thanks,Hi,
Oracle Apps 11i/R12 is not certified on Windows Vista OS. Moreover, Oracle Apps 11i/R12 is certified on 64-bit for the database tier only.

Oracle EBS R12 installation by newbie...please help.
Dear Experts,
I wanted to learn E-Biz suite R12. So thought of installing R12 on external hard disk and use it with laptop. I googled and in our otn forums also, but i am confused about the steps which i need to do for successful installation.
My current configuration:
Dell Laptop : 4 GB RAM, 300 GB harddisk, Windows 7
External Harddrive : 2 TB (specially bought for installing EBS and my learning activity)
as per other forum post, i will increase RAM to 8 GB
I wanted to install EBS on external hard drive and access it via my laptop.
can any suggest any step by step material where i can do the installation successfully...I heard we need to install virtual box/vm ware , template etc...i am bit confused. can you please guide me to do please.. can i install VMware on usb hardrive, and then windows 7 on top of it and then ebs on top of that.....
please guide.
Best regards
PrasanthHi Prasanth,
I believe you are currently in Windows environment. Most of the production environment will have Unix i.e either Solaris, HP-UX, Linux and etc. So that is the reason you will have to install Linux for example in the VMware(Non-Oracle product) or Virtual box(Oracle product) in order to create a virtualized enviornment, and afterwards proceed with R12 Installation.
If you are wish to try installing R12 without a virtualized enviornment then you may install it on the host itself (windows environment) without installing VMware/Virtual box
You may follow the below notes for R12 Installation on different OS.

Installation problem on Windows 2003
Hi All,
I have installed the saprfc extension on my laptop for testing purposes.
Definitions of my laptop: Windows XP, IIS 6, PHP 4.4.2, SAP GUI 640
Everything works fine and I can access the SAP through the web server on my laptop without any problem.
Now, after finishing my tests I installed my web application on a real production server with the following definitions: Windows 2003 server, IIS 6, PHP 4.4.2
As you can see the two differences are the operating system and the fact that I do not have a complete SAP GUI installation on the server I only located the librfc32.dll under the windows library.
My problem is that I get the message that the php_saprfc.dll extension cannot be loaded (I edited the php.ini).
Doe anyone have any idea why?
Thanks,
RoyHi,
I have an installation with my laptop WIN2003 server with apache web server instead of IIS, without problems.
Are you sure that in your php.ini is all OK?
Have you tried to copy the WIN2003 php.ini on your laptop and try to load saprfc.dll?

Xp_logininfo "Installation problem on windows 2003 with Sql 2005"
Hi every one
I am facing a problem during the installation of Solution Manager 4.0 on Windows 2003 server with Ms Sql 2005, I received the following error
Msg 15404, Level 16, State 19, Procedure xp_logininfo, Line 60.
Its some how look likes that the user "SID"ADM
Can any one give me a clue
thanks
Kind Regards
SohailHi All,
This would solve your problem
First of all this error is <b>MSSQL error</b>.
When you perform an action on an instance of SQL Server that requires SQL Server to resolve the credentials of a Microsoft Windows NT domain user account, you may receive an error message that is similar
Server: Msg 8198, Level 16, State XX, Procedure <Stored Procedure Name>, Line <line Number>
Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user '<Domain\Account Name>'.
To resolve the credentials of a Windows NT domain user account, SQL Server uses the xp_logininfo system stored procedure. Here is a list of the common scenarios where you may notice that the xp_logininfo system stored procedure fails and causes the 8198 error.
When you use an xp_sendmail extended stored procedure.
When you set up replication.
When you run a SQL Server Agent job.
SQL Server may run the xp_logininfo system stored procedure to retrieve information about the Windows domains and the user accounts, even if the user does not do so explicitly. Therefore, if you receive an 8198 error message and the error message mentions the xp_logininfo system stored procedure as the procedure, you must use <b>SQL Profiler</b> to trace and to troubleshoot the exact point of failure.

But this does not shed any light.
I have cygwin installed.
I have VC++ installed.
I have tried with the current Active Perl (and without as Oracle seems to now include perl in e:\oracle\VIS\apps\tech_st\10.1.3\perl\5.8.3\bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread - so I tested without incase 2 versions were causing a conflict).
I desperately need help and any assistance would be appreciated!Hsawwan,
I have actually solved it. I did 2 things different this time to all the previous times and I'm not sure which fixed it. But to assist others on here this is what I did:
1. Used Visual Studio 2005 Standard instead of Visual C++ 2005 Express (we have MSDN so this was rather simple for us)
2. Used Cygwin 1.5 instead of the current release. As Oracle seems to only work on very old Windows technology I figured that the Cygwin released in 2009 was far too recent. The 1.5 release is on the cygwin site but is only kept around for Windows 9x platforms.
Also of note is that the mktemp package is not in the current Cygwin release, not even as a obsolete package so i was always missing this. In the 1.5 release it is available if you tick the obsolete package.
I hope that information helps someone else on here! -
Installing Oracle EBS 11i installation problem
Dear All,
I have a problem regarding the installation of Oracle EBS 11i of which I can't figure out a solution.
After unzipping all the 108 files during the rapidwiz installation the installer seems to halt (in step 1, 100% of file extraction). It involves instconf.drv but it doesn't show me an error in the installation logs. The line that appears is the following:
instantiatefile -d instconf.drv
I tried to change my Linux distribution from SLES10 to Ubuntu but that doesn't work either.
Could you please help me out with this.
Kind regards,
Charif EnnaciriDear hsawwan,

N1 SPS 6.0 Installation problem on windows 2003
Hello,
I have tried to install N1 SPS 6.0 on windows 2003. I was able to finish installlation successfully. But When I try to access tool from http://localhost:8080 , It is not working. I am new to tool , I am installing first time so not able to figure out. I have checked the service for master server is starting under windows services. What else do I need to check? Are there any prerequisite to install N1 SPS 6.0 Master Server on windows?
Thanks. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Bhavika1. While installation did you configured http or https for UI ? I configured http
2. If https, did you provided the keystore file as part of installation or not? No
3. If https and opted to provide the keystore file after the installation? No
4. if you run 'netstat -an | more' can you find port 8080 in the list? I cannot see
5. are you finding any error messages in {install-dir}\server\bin\cr_server.out file? if so, can you share that error message
I cannot see cr_server.out file under C:\Program Files\N1 Service Provisioning System\6.0\server\bin that is my install directory
6. Related to N1 SPS, are you finding any errors in windows event log? if so, can you share the error message
7. From DOS command prompt, when you run "net start crserver60" or "net start postmaster60" or "net start crprepdb60" are you getting the following error? *
The requested service has already been started.
I see following message
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>net start crserver60
The N1 Service Provisioning System 6.0 Server service is starting.
The N1 Service Provisioning System 6.0 Server service was started successfully.
8. Do you have the local user postgres in your system What do u mean by local user ? I have installed postgres on my system with postgres user.
9. instead of using "http://localhost:8080", if you try to access the UI admin through "http://{windows-host-name}:8080", does it work? * I tried both way , it does not work * -
