  • Oracle financials end user responsibility in implementation project

Could any body tell me the Oracle financials end user responsibility in implementation project

SO what is the variance in the responsibilities for Functional consultant and Key user in implementation or support project.
    =========================================================================================
See in implementation project, the resource who is performing the implementation needs access to all the forms i.e. setup, transaction forms etc.
Also within an implementation project, there may be resources who are not associated with set, hence they responsibility will have only transactiion forms or inquiry forms.
    =======================================================================================================
In Support project, the following may be valid users associated with the functions:
the Invoice entry folk who keys in the invoice needs access to Invoice form only.
Similarly The invoice inquiry folk who needs to inquire the invoice will need to have access to Invoice Inquiry form only.
Similarly a person who is incharge of the overall control within a support project will have access to all the forms, functions, menu etc.
    =================================================================================
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Interfacing Accounting entries to Oracle Financials

    Dear Experts,
We are implementing an IS-Retail project for a client. The strange part of the implementation is that the client will still be using Oracle Financials as the Finance module and SAP FICO module will be just a facilitator.
Keeping this in mind we need to do the following:
    1) Send all accounting entries created in SAP related to Vendor invoices/credit memos to Oracle Financials.
    2) Send all accounting entries created in SAP related to Customer Billing / debit notes/credit notes to Oracle Financials.
    3) Send all accounting entries created in SAP related to Stock Movement to Oracle Financials.
For the purpose we have identified following IDocs:
ACLPAY01 [Posting in Accounting: Incoming Invoice] for 1) above
This is essentially an inbound IDoc but can be utilised as an outbound too by doing some sort of customizing. But we do not know exactly how as SAP provides 3 sets of function modules for the purpose.
    IDOC_OUTPUT_ACLPAY_CHECK
    IDOC_OUTPUT_ACLPAY_POST
    IDOC_OUTPUT_ACLPAY_PROJECT
We dont know exactly how to configure so that the outbound ACLPAY01 can be generated whenever a vendor invoice is created.
ACPJOU01 [Posting in Accounting from Materials Management] for 3) above.
This is also an inbound IDoc but can be utilised as an outbound too by doing some sort of customizing. As in case of ACLPAY01, SAP also provides 3 sets of function modules.
    IDOC_OUTPUT_ACPJMM_CHECK
    IDOC_OUTPUT_ACPJMM_POST
    IDOC_OUTPUT_ACPJMM_PROJECT
We dont know exactly how to configure so that the outbound ACPJOU01 can be generated whenever there is a stock movement.
This has been hinted in this link http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/6c/089d0656c511d18ef20000e8366fc2/content.htm
We could not identify any outbound IDoc for the purpose of 2) above.
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

    Hi,
We have to implement Oracle Financials for India, I know that the calendar is from APR-MAR, but my question is: Is it needed to report the statutory books in a local Chart of Accounts or we can use our corporate ones based in US GAAP.

  • Oracle BI with Oracle Financials

How easy is it to prepare the Oracle database to allow Oracle BI to integrate with Oracle Financials?
To expand, our organization is currently using Oracle Financials and we are considering implementing Oracle BI to support reporting. Is this fairly easy to do given the current database structure or would all the dimensions need to be configured?

If you are using oracle financials , then implementing oracle BI using oracle production like discoverer, portal, BI beans would be easy and straight.
there would be no requirement like ETL , Datawarehousing etc. Do you have already some support reporting system or is this new conceprt in your workplace.
if this is new ,that it would be great , else you need to identiy how to map the existing reporting scenarios to be mapped in oracle BI. please explain your query a bit to add more detail, thanks

  • Oracle Financials or Hyperion Planning for variance analysis??

We are considering Hyperion Planning for our Departmental budgets/forecasts and I'm have a disagreement with a few piers. Was hoping you could help. It's my contention that the budgets/forecasts AND actuals should be populated in Hyperion Planning. A few of my piers contend that the budgets/forecats should be housed in Hyperion Planning and pushed down to Oracle Financials for variance analysis - in order to provide drill back capability into the transacations that caused the variance.
Since H.P. is a consolidated system, I would think it's impossible to budget at a summary account level in H.P. and push it to base level/transaction level within Oracle Financials (one to many). In my view, the actuals should flow up from Oracle Financials, via FDM, into H.P. where variance analysis can take place? I would think drill back capability could be provided via FDM within Planning?
Anyway, was hoping to get your thoughts.

    Hi,
We are currently in the final phase of implementing Oracle Financials and Hyperion for the same purpose that you have described in your post. We use Oracle Financials to record actuals and then transfer it to Hyperion under the scenario 'Actual'. While the budget/forecast data in only entered/saved in Hyperion. There are several financial reports for variances that are generated out of Hyperion. So far, this arrangement is serving us pretty well. I second your point that in Hyperion, we can easily compare summary level data. We have Hyperion reports that do variances calculations for sub-totals. In fact, we are also using HP reports for consolidated statements such as Balance sheet, Income statement etc. The actual data for these statements is coming from GL.
As for drill through functionality (from HP to sub-ledger details in financials), we are in process of implementing FDM and use it for both (1) loading data and (2) drill through.
    Hope this helps.

    E. Rebates or Discounts
I would be very thankfull if you can provide the required details.
    Thanks,
    Sushanth

    Hi Sushanth,
See the merchandise integration guide and the operation guide of RMS (pretty good for a starter, though not more than a glimpse.)
Usually a specialized consulting firm will have the people with the experience and knowledge of these areas at hand to assist you.
I think if you really want to have these questions answered, you must hire a specialist consultant - I don't expect the forum to fill in those gaps for you, but who knows.
Also the CRP of an implementation project will deal with some of your questions, the CRP being lead by a subject matter expert (SME).
    Best regards,
    Erik
