Oracle Forms 9.04 and Form Colours

Hi i am fairly new to building forms, i having a problem where when i specify a frame colour to say red or blue, when the form is run in the browser it does not change colours, it stays the same green colour all the way through. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and found a work around. Many Thanks in Advance.

The colors used by Oracle Forms are controlled by the pallet. Forms allows you to use a Default Pallet (no action necessary by the user) or you can specify your own pallet in the Forms Preferences (Edit => Preferences=> General Tab, Color Palette). More than likely you are dealing with a configuration issue. The Forms OC4J (running from your local machine) or Forms Server (deployed to an Apps Server) can't find the default.pal file in the your Delevoper Home. ( <ORACLE_HOME>\tools\common90 ).
Hope this helps.

which modules of oracle apps have reports and forms? Do I need to have strong programming knowledge to learn these?
Plz try to respond as I need to get started with the traiining asap.

Most of Oracle Apps modules come with reports and forms. You would probably need to create your custom module (with custom forms/reports) instead of modifying the standard Oracle Apps forms and reports. Start with "Oracle Applications Developer's Guide" and "Oracle Applications Concepts" manuals, it should be helpful.

  • Oracle 10g Express Edition and Forms 6i

    Hi,
Need to know if Oracle 10g express edition supports forms 6i or not?
    Please advise.
    Thanks you very much.

    Thanks for the answers.
Yes, XE universal does not work, but XE Western European does. I am having a hard time to configure Net8. The net configuration tools simply crash right away every time I try to run them. The sql*plus on form side crashes when I hit the connect button. The only thing that can run with no problem is form. I had to manually edit the tnsnames.ora file on form side, setting host=computer name and sid=XE. Tried many times until it worked.

  • Issues during reinstallation Oracle 10g express edition and Forms 6i

I've been racking my head over this issue for the past two three days. Exasperated, I tried searching in the forums but could not find a specific scenario like this.
I am facing issues while trying to get forms 6i to work with oracle 10g Express edition
i have windows XP home edition (installed service pack 2) and installed oracle 10g express edition as well as the oracle 10g express client and SQL developer on the same machine. The database started fine and I was able to use Enterprise manager.
After that I tried installing Forms 6i and whatever i try i am not able to connect to the database from Forms though I was able to connect easily from SQL developer. I used to get the error 12154 "TNS:could not resolve service name"
I dont know if Forms 6i expects the database connector string in some particular format. I searched on the net and found some people solved the issue by reinstalling the database software.
My machine name was complex so I changed it as well and reinstalled the software. Again the DB was fine and connections were fine but no way I could get forms to connect to the DB. All the time
I tried installing Forms to the same folder that Oracle express edition home in the hope that it might fix the problem. That only caused my database to crash. The oracle xe service shows as started but the Enterprise manager link does not work and it seems the database is down. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling client and server to no avail.
Has anyone gone through such a situation and solved this ? Appreciate your help.

The statement about XP Home is correct, but in this case I would say the initial problem (Forms and ORA-12154) is independent of that, it also happens in a supported environment. I think it's the old problem, a second Oracle home was installed, but tnsnames.ora containing the connect informations is located in the first home.
Either tnsnames.ora is copied from to <Second_ORACLE_HOME>\network\admin or the environment variable TNS_ADMIN is set system-wide to <First_ORACLE_HOME>\network\admin.
I think now it's necessary to create a clean machine (remove all Oracle components as explained in the database installation guide for Windows). Then repeat the installation , but XE and Forms 6i in different ORACLE_HOMEs.

  • Multiple forms through process and forms

    Hello ALL,
We are using process and forms for maternity, paternity and

employee. We have not activated parallel run option, still system is
allowing user to create multiple document for same leave
Could you let me how to stop user to creating multiple

There are many ways to achieve this.
    1. Use the BADI that you shown in the screenshot.
    2. Set process frequency.

  • Forms 9 f90servlet and Forms 10 frmservlet on same application server?

Is it possible to install the f90servlet and frmservlet oc4j components on the same application server, so that can provide one url to one group of users to run some existing Forms 9 applications, and another url to a different group of users to run a new Forms 10 application?
Or do I need 2 application server instances on the app server box?
If it IS possible, how can I go about installing just the forms90 component into my existing 10.1.2.0.2 app server?
    Cheers

Yes it is separate applications, some built in forms 9, 1 build in forms 10.
How is it possible to do this just using a separate formsweb.cfg?
I have tried this, but when trying to use the forms 10 OC4J to run forms built in forms 9, then you get the error :
FRM-40011: Form was created by an old version of Form Builder
    spilgrim
Separate machines is not an option. Largely due to licensing costs.
There is 1 application server box, we need to use this to run some forms9 apps and forms10 apps.
So we either install 2 versions of the application server software, or 1 version of the application server software which contains a forms9 and forms10 engine. At least this is my understanding of it.
The 2nd option sounds preferable because we dont really need 2 whole application servers.

  • Upgrading Oracle 8.0.6 and Forms 5.0.6.8.0, Reports 3.0.5.8.0, Pro*C/COBOL

    Hi,
We are researching upgrading to 10g(10.1) for database and Developer tools. The database is currently 8.0.6 and we use Oracle Forms 5.0.6.8.0; Oracle Reports 3.0.5.8.0; and precompile Pro*C/COBOL programs with the 8.0.4.4 environment. There appears to be quite a bit of information on the database upgrade. I am looking for Forms and Reports data as well as Pro*C and Pro*COBOL. The platform is currently AIX 4.3.3 ML11 and we will be upgrading to AIX 5.2.5 prior to the database upgrade. Would someone be able to point me to some reference materials? Are there any land mines I should be concerned with? Is this possible? Would going to 6i or 9i for Developer be an option if 10g is not?
    Thanks!

  • Database link error when compiling forms 6.0 and forms 6i.

    Dear sirs,
We have a database link between two databases of the same version oracle 8.0.5.
Recently we have upgraded one of our databases to version 9.2.0.1 (the database where the database link was originally created ) and now we are having problems when compiling forms that have PL/SQL blocks using the database link.
The error message received when compiling the form is the following:
ORA-02068: Following severe error from dbproduc.world
ORA-00600: Internal error code, arguments: [No conversion op],[],[],[],[],[],[],[]
The forms did not present this error before, it began when we made the upgrade.
    Is this a FORMS 6.0 problem ?
Is this an ORACLE 8.0.5 problem ?
Is this an ORACLE 9.2.0.1 problem ?
Can you please give me some advice to solve this problem ?
    Thanks in advance

As I see, when you use a non-oracle database the tables don`t appear, you must create the realation with the table manually, on the properties

  • ARES Installation with Forms, Wkf Server and Form Manager on JBOSS

    Hi,
we are evaluating the product combination mentioned above. Is there any installation guide or a recommendation available? The german documentation includes only integration with Document Security. Is it sufficient to install it with the automatic Installation (on an own JBOSS)for testing purposes - will it be integrated in already installed LiveCycle products - especially ADMINUI? Is it possible to install it on the same JBOSS instance for production environment? Which kind would you recommend to use in general?
    Thanks for any remarks
    Jens Thieme

Take a look at this doc: http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/livecycle/integrating_lc_products_5_0.pdf
If you're a member of the AEDP program you could also download and install the Developer Toolbox which has these products (plus LiveCycle Security) already installed and configured. You can find a link to it here: http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/livecycle/toolbox/topic.html

As we can see form-login page and form-error page uri match url-pattern settings.
    url-pattern: /jsp/security/protected/*
    form-login page: /jsp/security/protected/login.jsp
    form-error page: /jsp/security/protected/error.jsp
There is no binding of unauthenticated user to ether one of specified roles
Question: What place in the servlet spec allows serving secured resource for a user without appropriate role association?

Kinda then beat the the whole idea of authentication then, if you allow a user in that is not assigned to a security role? Anyway, I think you are looking to send the user to another page if they are not in a role but have an id, correct? Well, first it has to be a page outside the secure directory/ies. The error it generates is a 403. So add to your web.xml:
        <error-page>
           <error-code>403</error-code>
           <location>/403.jsp</location>
</error-page>Anytime a user who is not a member of the allowed roles attempts a login, they will be redirected to this page.

  • Forms 4.5 or Forms 5.0 on Windows 2000

My client has Forms 4.5 applications running on windows NT. They also have a Forms 5.0 license.
They would like to move from Windows NT to Windows 2000 OS. I want to know whether the applications
created using Forms 4.5 and Forms 5.0 can be deployed on Windows 2000?
Also, I have seen on the otn that earlier versions of forms cannot be migrated directly to Forms 9i. They need
to be migrated to Forms 6i first. Does this mean that Oracle still markets 6i products for the sake of clients
    still on older forms version?
If not, how do I migrate the above 4.5 and 5.0 forms to 9i?
    Thank You
    Aruna Banwasi

The forms that were created in 4.5 on NT will work on 2000 without any recompilation.
Personally, I do not see any reason to move from 4.5 to 5.0 (from developer/2000 version
1.6.1 to developer/2000 version 2.1). Besides, I know there are lots of
bugs in version 5.0 which were still not fixed. As you might know,
the official oracle error correction support for both of these versions are stopped.
Given all these facts, here are my recommendations:
If you want to stay on client/server environment, the only option for the
upgrading is forms/reports developer 6i (Oracle changed the name of the product, so
in 6i, it is no longer called as developer/2000).
If you want to move your forms/reports to web, then the only
logical upgrade option is 9iDS (which includes forms/reports 9i) and
the 9iAS enterprise edition (which includes the forms/reports 9i services)
    combination.
Note: if you upgrade to 6i , you can still use the forms server (6i)
to web-enable your forms BUT bear in mind - you will still need to obtain
an iAS license to do that.

  • FORM 6.0 vs FORM 6i

    Dear all,
Can anyone tell me the differenct between form 6.0 or form 6i?
Can form 6.0 work with Oracle 8i??

Thank you very much for your help.
Here are my other two question.
    1. I have experience that Dynamic SQL in FORM 5.0 is not work fine with Oracle 8 or 8i. Are the problem has fixed in FORM 6.0 and FORM 6i? That mean can i use Dynamic SQL in FORM 6.0 with Oracle 8i.
    2. My company has a lot of outlets and it cause much trouble when apply patches to outlet since the file size is quite large and not easy to transfer the files using a 64k lease line. Could anyone tell me where i can get the information that which files (runtime only) i need to update rather than apply the whole patches to the outlet.
    Thank you

  • From Forms Product Management - New Forms/Reports install option

Oracle Product Management are pleased to announce the release of Forms/Reports Services only download and install option of Oracle Application Server 10g.
This provides an option to the EE to install those components related only to running Forms and Reports.

    Forms Product Management

I did create a posting on OTN almost a year ago asking if/when 9iAS light version (forms/reports/graphs only) will be available at a reduced cost.
Oracle now announced (and also proved my claims that it was not a technical but marketing decision not to make forms/reports part of iAS a separate product) the separate download/install option for forms/reports services.
My original posting attracked more than 100 folks (including Shay, Frank and Grant) but was not fruitful to convince Oracle to make forms/reports services a separate product targeted for the small companies, who might not need/use the rest of the 9iAS framework. I believe, seeing one side of the coin and enforcing your opinion by ignoring the cry of many others (including many ODTUG members) is not a wise solution for your existing small business and niche market (using Oracle db and tools for very specific purposes such as simulations, etc on intranets - and operating under strict security protocols not to open up to internet) customers.
Grant and Shay repeatedly wrote on this forum and presented via whitepapers, etc. that forms/reports services are not fading away and it is a complementary solution to JDeveloper and emphasized that JDeveloper is not the replacement of forms/reports services. This news was very good for existing forms/reports developers.
Given that forms/reports services is now separately available, why not making Forms/Reports Designer and Forms/Reports services (only) part of iAS a separate product? as Oracle did the very same with JDeveloper?
