3) I am using JRE 1.4.2.17.
4) My Os Platform Is Windows Advance Server 2000.
5) I put Laf.Jar file in C:\Oracle\Dmhome10g\Forms90\Java.
6) I open formsweb.cfg file & put archive=frmall.jar,laf.jar
When I run the form then emp block visual attribute becomes purple & other theme remains defult no other changes performed. And when I change color then no action happened.
I had 1 question in my mind.
1) Where I put "DrawLAF.java" file.

Fahed,
I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. I am speaking about the Java console opened when you run your form (the little coffe-cup icon in the quick task bar) that should show something like this:

    Hello everybody,
Recently I find a web site that introduce Oracle Forms Look and Feel project,
Oracle Forms Look and Feel project
    http://sheikyerbouti.developpez.com/forms-pjc-bean/LAF/doc/Oracle_Forms_Look_and_Feel_project.htm
Can I use the PL/SQL library (laf.pll) , Java Beans and PJCs grouped in a jar file (laf.jar) for Oracle Forms 6i?
    thx

    Hi Francois,
I find one website mention the following,
"PL/SQL tables reside in the private PL/SQL area of the Oracle Server database instance; they are not available as client-side structures at this time. As a result, you cannot declare and manipulate PL/SQL tables in your Oracle Developer/2000 environment."

  • Forms Look And Feel

    Hi
Is there any way to get rid of Oracle Logo on Forms Look And Feel?
    Thanks
    Isha

Here is another way to do this. At least i did this like described below.
    1) Make a copy of ifrun60.exe
    2) Run Borland Resource Workshop
    3) Prepare your own icon and save it to disk
    4) Open ifrun60.exe in Resource Workshop
    5) Substitue the icon to that you saved previously
    6) Save changed ifrun60.exe
    7) Run ifrun60.exe and enjoy your new icon

  • Parameter Form look & Fee changed after upgrading to the Oracle Reports 11g

    Hi All,
We are using Oracle Database 11g, with Oracle Forms and Reports 11g.
We are in the process of migration our customized application from Oracle Forms 6i to Oracle Forms 11g, during migration we have faced a problem regarding the look and feel of reports parameter form,
We have almost 700 reports and 300 out of them are calling with report parameter form = yes,
When we call any report that is using Report Parameter Form, we have found that the look and feel completely changed, although it is acceptable for us as we have standardized the parameter form, with default layout, but the only problem is that, we are unable to fixed the length of any field having LOV, i.e. we have a field, that is showing Department Name, having Select DeptId, DeptName from Departments order by 1 and we have set the Hide First Column, when we call the report the length of this field systematically increased according to the biggest Department Name (Department Name having the highest number for characters), we want to fix the length of every parameter to a certain size,
    Would gurus please advice?
    Thanks,
    Hassan

    Hi,
    I have seen this problem.
I assume that Apex 4 do not give fxx name to items anymore in order where columns are in query.
This is one of reasons why we have not been yet able to upgrade.
And it seems this same problem exists in Apex 4.1 on apex.oracle.com

  • Is a JSP Tag Library providing Oracle Financial look and feel available

We are going to use Oracle Financial as part of our future application.
That is why other parts of it (which we plan to develop using JDeveloper)
have to have the same Look and Feel.
Is a JSP Tag Library that provides Oracle Financial Look and Feel available?

Oracle Applications use BC4J, UIX, and JDeveloper.
The UIX framework implements the Oracle "Browser Look And Feel" (BLAF) that our Oracle Applications self-service applications use.
The UIX JSP tag library lets JSP developers do the same.

Can you suggest where can I find the documentation on "Oracle Browser Look and Feel (BLAF) UI Guidelines"?

  • It looks Oracle Form/Applet  die hard versus J2EE Servlet/JSP/JSF  & AJAX

I left the form forum for a while and am busy with transfering our Oracle web forms app to Struts based J2EE application (just because the Oracle EE AS is the moving cause, it's out of my control.). After a year or so on J2EE which I enjoyed the fresh OO coding while keep enhancing Oracle webform app in production, I have some thought on Applet vs J2EE JSP/JSF plus AJAX.
    1) JSP itself is hard to avoid the full screen refreshing even though user just does partial changes ,e.g., lists, on the screen, it has to use AJAX to do the tricks. While partial refreshing in applet is natural default behavior.
    2) Forms is really an RAD, while J2EE's IDEs does help a bit(IBM's Websphere v6 even called iRAD) which takes way longer programming time compared to Forms. One IBM's article says it trys to win the Oracle Forms developers by giving the familiar graphical way of drag/drop GUI, so IBM recognizes the RAD coding power of Oracle Forms. So, IBM promotes the RAD similar to Oracle Forms.
    3) GUI/business rules related validation: Applet offered a great advantage over JSP/ even JSF which to avoid the full screen refresh, AJAX/JavaScript is used heavily. User friendly interaction of applet is way better than J2EE.
    4) Browser's back/refresh buttons also are headache to J2EE, expecially we need to support IE and Firefox. Applet basically is not bothered by these buttons.
Recently, I read techi news said that the new chips will make the network transfer speed 10 time faster than now-even the cell phone transfer the image will be way faster. Then I predict the applet, just like IBM's mainframe, will see its Spring again, not like now in its winter. Especially the Oracle Forms makes coding easier than pure applet coding.
Oracle folks, kepp beefing up the Oracle Forms, don't just pay attention to JDev. J2EE IDE, most of all, remove the Oracle EE ASxx block, be open. Oracle EE ASxx is really not a pretty baby, even though so Oracle thinks it is.

    1) Why we are transfering your Oracle web forms app to Struts based J2EE application?
Since our corporate is IBM world-DB2/UDB, WebSphere AS (WAS) etc. It only allows Oracle Forms/reports servers to be compatible with the infrastructure. It does not allow to purchase another EE app server(espeically LDAP). We could not upgrade our forms/reports6i to 9i or 10g.
2.Therefore the Oracle EE AS is the moving cause, it's out of my control because I did my best to talk to Oracle sales, but no avail. I am glad that I got a good chance to beef up my J2EE Struts skills.
If extract out the forms/report9i/10g engines from the Oracle EE AS 9i/10g, (don't attempt to bundle sell the EE AS to customers-regardless of the shrinked 9.0.4 forms/reports services version, it's still another EE AS) and make them compatible with other ASs(espcially the LDAP), then Oracle Forms will have more customers.

  • Customizing ADF Faces Look & Feel. Some questions & suggestions

    Hi everybody,
We are developing an application with ADF Faces using JHeadStart. For the moment, I am studying the way we must modify the JHS templates to adapt each element to our needs.
As it's told in the JHeadStart Developer's Guide, there are two ways to customize Look & Feel:
    1) Modifying the templates
    2) ADF Skinning
I'm using both methods, but I feel that thay are not good enough to adapt the L&F to our customer requirements.
My main problem now is in the ADF Table customization. I want to use ADF Table because it offers us a lot of features that are not in the jsf table (the selection column, the table overflow...), and is very usefull combined with the generated JHS code. But at the same time, it doesn't offer a lot of functionality in the look & feel customization. Using JSF Table, I can set the CSS style for headers, rows, columns, the table, I can set the border, cellspacing and cellpadding. But I cannot do
any of these thing (or at least, I don't see how) with the ADF Table.
Our customer (a government) have a strict definition of the look & feel of his web applications. They want we use their CSS styles definition file, so they can modify at once the Look & Feel of all their applications. Modifying the L&F through skinning generate other styles, not use the style classes in our CSS (o so I think).
    So, the questions:
    1) There is any way to set the suitable styles for the ADF Table components (headers, rows)?
1bis) Why, If I have defined a new skin, with only just a few selectors, some styles from oracle are applied? Maybe because the render kit in the 'adf-skins.xml' is "oracle.adf.desktop"? If it is true, how can I make that they are not used, I must implement a render kit or can I use another existent?
    2) Can I decide how looks the select column (for example a button instead of a radio button)? Can I decide where does it goes (right or left)?
    3) There is any way to hidden the text Show/Hide of the showDetail in the table (the tableOverflow), as I can change the icons through skinning? If it is not possible, How can I overwrite the text. I need it in Catalan, but it is shown in English for this locale. Where is the message bundle I should overwrite?
    4) There is any way to force a tree to start fully expanded?
    5) There is anywhere documentation about the javascript functions used in ADF and their meaning? I think for example in the previous question. If I knew which javascript function I should call for expand the tree and its parameters, I could put the call in the onload event of the body.
    6) I use a selectInputDate. I have skinned the launch-icon, and I would like to do a similar thing in the chooseDate that is opened in a new window. But It seems not to be affected for my skinning directives (if I put a chooseDate in the same page, its L&F follow the skinning rules I've defined). I don't know if this dialog is an ADF feature or a JHS generated feature.
    7) There is any way to keep unmodified the id I've choosed for a component? (I mean, an inputText with id="hello" in a form with id="form" will have in the HTML an id = "form:hello", but I would like it to be simply 'hello')
    8) How can I control the position and the size of a dialog (the chooseDate dialog or a dialog I've created)? In the cases I've been testing, it seems the dialog is forced to resize depending on the content. I would like to know if I can establish a fixed size.
    9) There is any way to open a non-modal dialog? (which I could keep open at the same time that another instance of the same dialog)
For the moment, I think I have no more question. But give me time.... :-D
The suggestion I've to do is basically more flexible components for a better customization (for example, the styles settings I've talked about previously). ADF components are nice and powerful, but I think they should generate pages that follow the tendencies in the web development: tableless pages (I cannot understand the utility of the objectSpacer existing the margins), use of CSS for layout...
Any answer, comment or suggestion will be welcome.
    Carles.

I have been able to make the UIX 2.2 and ADF Faces LAF look near identical by updating the oracle-desktop.xss file within UIX 2.2 as follows
<!-- Change the accent color ramp to tan -->
    <style name="DarkAccentBackground">
    <!--<property name="background-color">#cccc99</property>-->
    <property name="background-color">#d2d8b0</property>
    </style>
    There are still some differences:
    1) A black line appears on the ADF Faces on the 'menu1' facet selected tab below the text. DON'T KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THIS FROM ADF Faces or add it to UIX 2.2!!!
    2) In UIX 2.2 a bulleted list uses the HTML <li> tag. In ADF Faces it doesn't use the HTML <li> tag rather it constructs the bulleted list using lower level HTML tags with the 'bullet' becoming an image, in my browser this means the disc is smaller in Faces. The motivation for this change I think is explained via this post. Since I have no control over how this specific HTML tag is rendered it forces me to replace the /adf/images/bltdscn.gif file in adf-faces-impl.jar with a larger disc!

May update this again if there are other things I notice.

  • Oracle forms 10g (win Xp middle tier IE 8             Win 7- IE 8 client)

    Hi
I have a problem with java and Jinitiator and my understanding of what is / should be happening.
In the file forms/server/formsweb.cfg see below. I can alter the parameter
    baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
    ###baseHTMLjinitiator=basejpi.htm
between the two alternatives. As it stands as shown the IE8 on the middle tier and on the database PC both work as near correctly as i can tell. On the Win 7 client IE 8 however crashes. switch it to the other way around and the
win 7 works and the win xp on the database server stops with frm-92095 error version number too low. while on the middle tier Xp PC a blank doucument is displayed.
How can i have both working at the same time please. I you need more information i will happily supply it.

You have a mixture of problems here.
    1. Oracle Jinitiator is not supported for use on Windows 7
    2. JRE 1.7 is not supported for use with any version of Forms on any platform. Be sure you do not have this version installed.
    3. JRE 1.6 is not supported for use with Forms 10.1.2.0.2, however is supported with 10.1.2.3 (10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622) and only with IE 8
    4. In order to use Win 7 with Forms 10 in a certified and supported manner, you must use 10.1.2.3 (meaning 10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622).
In short, my recommendation would be the following:
o Patch to 10.1.2.3 (assuming you have access to MyOracleSupport)
o Don't bother trying to use Oracle Jinitiator as it is old and has been desupported for a long time.
o Uninstall any instances of Jinitiator as it can cause conflicts with other JRE installations.
o Uninstall all instances of JRE 1.7. Reconfig your formsweb.cfg to use the JRE (Java Plugin) 1.6.0

    # default.env - default Forms environment file, Windows version
    # This file is used to set the Forms runtime environment parameters.
    # If a parameter is not defined here, the value in the Windows registry
    # will be used. If no value is found in the registry, the value used will
    # be that defined in the environment in which the servlet engine (OC4J
    # or JServ) was started.
    # NOTES
    # 1/ The Forms installation process should replace all occurrences of
    # <percent>FORMS_ORACLE_HOME<percent> with the correct ORACLE_HOME
    # setting, and all occurrences of <percent>O_JDK_HOME<percent> with
    # the location of the JDK (usually $ORACLE_HOME/jdk).
    # Please make these changes manually if not.

  • WebUtil:  oracle.forms.webutil.host.Host bean not found

Hi. This is my first attempt using WebUtil. The following code is in my When-New-Form-Instance trigger:
    client_host('N:\TTMS\ITS\vbasic\compiled\MenuUpdate.exe');
This is the error I receive:
    oracle.forms.webutil.host.Host bean not found
I've included my formsweb.cfg below for your reference. Note that the application is using the [ttmsmenu] configuration.
Thanks in advance for your help with this problem.

    Dumb dumb dumb.
I was running this form out of Form Builder 10g. At some point I changed the Application Server URL (Edit => Preferences => Runtime menus) from:
    http://ssbuechl2.div16.ibm.com:8889/forms/frmservlet?config=ttmsmenu
    to:
    http://ssbuechl2.div16.ibm.com:8889/forms/frmservlet?
So my customized configuration with all the WebUtil references was not being referenced and I was getting the error.
    Dumb dumb dumb.

    5.Modify the basejini.htm
1.Add the below parameter in basejini.htm in OBJECT and EMBED tag respectively
    <PARAM NAME="mapFonts" VALUE="Yes" >

  • Can I use Oracle Forms Services 11g with Database 9.2.0.8.0?

    Hi everyone.
My department is evaluating development tools in order to build new web applications, and also possibly to migrate current applications buit with Oracle Forms 6.0.5.34.0. Our database is Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit.
We have read that the newest Oracle Forms version is Oracle Forms Services 11g. Is Oracle Forms Services 11g compatible with Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit? or would we have to migrate our RDBMS to Oracle 11g?
If our database is compatible, what would we need to develop and deploy applications with Oracle Forms Services 11g?
    Many thanks in advance.

Wheter it's compatible or not: Database 9.2.0.8 is in sustaining support which means you won't get patches for it. So even if it is compatible I'd opt to upgrade to a newer version, as I wouldn't feel comfortable having a not-supported product out in production.
Have a look at the certification matrix for supported configurations
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11gr1certmatrix.xls
As for the requirements; most things can be found on the forms homepage on OTN:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/
    or at the documentation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/index.htm

  • An Oracle Forms Success story

    Hi:
I believe that in the forum we tend to post "I need help. Please help" "Oracle has issues!", etc, kind of topics. I am going to try to change that and will start posting now and then my "Oracle Forms" success stories that will hopefully help us all in sharing when we do something right and not just sharing when we need assistance. By the way, I do realise that there are plenty of great people in this forum already sharing their positive findings, I just would like all of us to start doing it on a regular basis.
Having said that, here is my first success story:
On Friday, I was having a conversation with one of our users and setting her up with our Web based application. Since we are moving her from a character based application, I was emphasizing to her how in the new GUI/Web based application it was important and benefitial to start using the mouse. To this she said "You know Thomas, we use Salesforce and recently we noticed that they have enabled the ability to click on any field and make it editable. Also, she said, you know how in our application we very often find ourselves going to a field and then pressing Ctrl-Y to bring up the full contents of the text. I just think that it would be really great if our new Mouse-enabled application would allows us to simply double click a filed and bring up the full text. Is this now possible? she asked. I paused and ran the request quickly in my head, since I made sure that certain things happened when we converted our Forms from character to Web platforms (i.e. I made sure that we referenced Object Groups to all of our forms), I was able to quickly (within a minute after she finished her question) answer to her that it was possible to accomplish what she described relatively trivially, but that it was still not enabled. Confident in my understanding of the whole app and in the hooks that I had installed during our upgrade, I promissed her that I would have a definite estimate and full answer by Monday.
I went home Friday and went to a school Carnival with my two beautiful children and awesomely beautiful wife (I have been told by co-workers that she looks a lot like Gina Lollobrigida) so I forgot about the request for the rest of the evening. Saturday morning I woke up and the first tought in my head was: I got it! I turned on my computer, coded and tested the solution against a couple of forms in five minutes and convinced my self I was right with my first tought. I then compiled the rest of the forms (around three hundred) and tested a few selective ones and verified that indeed I had solved the problem. I am now ready not only to tell her how easy it but to have her experience it in our development environment first thing on Monday, hopefully giving her a sense for how great our new platform is.
    The End
    Here is my code:
      IF NOT SUBSTR(RTRIM(RTRIM(GET_ITEM_PROPERTY(NAME_IN('SYSTEM.TRIGGER_ITEM'), PROMPT_TEXT)), ':'), -1) IN ('*', '+') THEN
        DO_KEY('EDIT_TEXTITEM');
ELSIF :SYSTEM.MOUSE_ITEM IS NOT NULL THEN
        DO_KEY('LIST_VALUES');
END IF;How did I deliver to all 300+ forms:
We have a form (called base.fmb) that contains all of our common forms objects and an OLB called common_obj.olb.
All of our forms have an object group called BASE_TRIGGERS referenced in.
    1) I created a WHEN-MOUSE-DOUBLE-CLICK trigger with PL/SQL above.
    2) I added WHEN-MOUSE-DOUBLE-CLICK to BASE_TRIGGERS objec group.
    3) I copied BASE_TRIGGERS from base.fmb to common_obj.olb to upgrade object group.
    4) I installed common_obj.olb to our UNIX deployment box.
    5) I compiled a few of the modules and tested in the app.
    6) I ran a full recompile.
    Why does it work:
    1) The code above written PSEUDOLLY means:
IF the prompt associated with the field does not end in * or + THEN
        SHOW THE EDITOR
      ELSE
         Execute KEY-LISTVAL
END IF2) Somebody very smart in our company introduced this neat notation to place a plus sign (+) at the end of the prompt for every field tha has a list of values. Also, that person had an asterisk (*) placed at the end of field prompts that provided drilled down (calling another form o show detail) to another form.
    3) Oracle, in a great white paper made me aware of the fact that when converting from character to Web all field prompts needed to be converted from Text to the Prompt property and furthermore, in their great wisdom, to make it easy they actually put a button right on the designer to make it trivial to accomplish.
Hope this is a good start,
    Thomas
P.S. If I left anything out or you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Great idea to post success stories. Kudos for giving step-by-step instructions.
Was the notation using plus or asterisk to signal the user if there's an LOV or drill-down available in place in your character based app or was it implemented during the GUI conversion? This is probably a matter of UI opinion, but does the notation clutter the screen a bit ad did you try other visual prompts? I like the notation because you don't have to click in or tab to the field to see if a LOV is available. That's a big benefit that probably outweighs the issue of screen clutter.

  • Oracle forms alignment - Oracle adf page aligment.

    hi experts,
    - jdev 11.1.1.5.0 - adfbc.
i would like to began topic on ADF jsff/jspx pages utilising component alignment time consumption . and then lesser time consumption on oracle forms alignments.
if an Oracle Forms.report devlopers know about align top, left, right center... just select compoent one time hitting get aligned in a way good looking
am not comparing to about different stack tech.
    my question is :
is there any other components in jdev will reduce my design time make my smarter and faster. good looking in alignments with small amount time.
    so far,
may be some other way. i dnt know i putting lot of time in desgining than my business logic.
if i ready to prepare a adf page means
design time take 5 hr a day.
business logic & validations & bla bla sometime preety hard. but it will went less than three hours.
am feel free to using compoents in adf. but sometmies ran into trouble(not errors) some ugly degins made by me.
not bad i learned some tricks here(for desgins adf pages) and some blogs. eventhough some times i made some mistakes in designs.
could any one show me way. how to do quick in desgins.?

I recommend that you play around with the possible combinations and layout componentsyes i do.
You can't assume that we have answers for every question, some stuff you have to find out yourself.people who are all gather here for suggesting some best way.
i expect some kind of suggestions. that's all.
play layout make little bit fishy?
P.S.: What the name change again? Why not giving us your real name?Name History:
ERP>ADF>user707.. soon i'll update my real name.
ADF is not Forms so you can'T expect that both look the same or behave the sameyes i know.
but i speaking about time consumption of adf is too longer. so this is my point. at the bottom of the line why time taken too longer.
    to design a page.
