Oracle Grid11g On Linux el5 Connection to host as user failed

Hi,
I have oracle grid 11g control running on Linux.
I have configured it to monitor a target (oracle 10g database) on solaris 10, but I'm unable to schedule backups.
I get error *" Connection to host as user failed "*.
I am providing the oracle user account details for the solaris .
I tried logging in to normal Enterprise Manager for the oracle 10g database and the host credentials was validated.
Can anyone advice why the same host credentials failed on grid?
Please help.

If youre adding the host in preferred credentials, have you
1. Configure the database first via > targets > database > configure
2. Are you using a proxy?
3. Did you try with the domain name prefixed on the OS user?
4. Whats in the emoms trace? If nothing much, switch to debug mode and try again and you may catch something else.
5. worst comes to worse, throw in a windump or tcpdump trace while you run the connect to see if theres anything at an OS level youre missing, OS errors back to the GC will just manifest themselves as "could not connect to host as user..." the dump will show you what they are but this is last case.

2.How to correct the error? It would seem that you are supplying a URL - this then returns an HTML error response. This response says "+domain name does not exist+".
As you provide no info on how you are making this HTTP call, and the fact that you are not getting a HTTP response code error, but a response page... the assumption is:
    a) you are reaching the web server as specified in the URL
    b) the web server is returning the error page
    c) the error related to the web server not being satisfied with the data supplied (or obtained) via that HTTP command it received - for example the query string may fail validation (hostname without a domain name), the command itself may not have a valid referring domain, etc.
Also as the error response include "+http://rx4640:1830/emd/main?+" (one of the few text strings that are readable on my browser from that error response you have posted), it would seem that the web server expects fully qualified hostnames. I.e. hostnames need to include a domain name. And this URL refers to host "+rx4640+" and does not include a domain qualifier.

  • Oracle 10g Rel 2  - Proxy connection authentication with SAP User ID

    Dear Experts,
We are currently doing some research and planning to upgrade SAP R/3 4.6C to ECC 6 and upgrading Oracle from version 9.2 to 10.2
In upgrading to Oracle vers. 10g Rel 2, we got advised that Oracle has apparently introduced a new proxy connection authentication, in which the SAP user ID is given limited privileges (create session only) ??
If you have any information on this or known any impact about this issue, please advise us.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your help, Kaushal.
I also found the SAP Note 834917 (Oracle Database 10g: New database role SAPCONN and it seems to be on a right direction to cope with that problem.
    - For Oracle releases earlier than 10gR2, the CONNECT role includes extensive database authorizations and the more restrictive CONNECT as of 10gR2.
    - To overcome this restriction, SAP need to find a way to compensate this, so does it come SAPCONN.
    - SAPCONN is the new SAP-specific database role, which is defined to support the normal SAP applications operations (CONNECT, RESOURCE and SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE).
    Once again, thanks.

  • Solaris 10,oracle 10g question- can't connect with non-dba user

    Hi
I've installed the Oracle10g suite, enterprise edition ( 10.2.0.1). I've created a database called qa10g, which I can connect to as user 'oracle' once I export the ORACLE_SID and the ORACLE_HOME
    export ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/10g2
    export ORACLE_SID=qa10g
then I type in the following at it puts me into sqlplus:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus system/system
so that works fine..now whan I try to log in as another user that isn't a member of the dba group, and I export the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID variables, I can't get in to the database using $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus system/system, I get the following errors:
    ERROR:
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory
    Enter user-name:
BUT, when I put the connector string at the end, I can get in:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus system/system@qa10g
    Connected to:

With the Partitioning, Oracle Label Security, OLAP and Data Mining Scoring Engin
    e options
    SQL>
so obviously, it is an enviromnet variable that isn't getting set properly, perhaps even ORACLE_SID=qa10g isn't working properly for the non-dba user ( in this case, the user is called ctronsys)
for the work I need to do on this databse, I need to have the user I select to be able to log into the database with sqlplus commands like the ones listed above, without the connector string added at the end..the SID gets exported first..
any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm a newbie to Oracle!
    thanks!

It's probably not supported on RHEL5/Centos5/etc., but...
You can get the installer to function using the following steps:
    - extract the cal_linux_*.tar.gz, and cd into the OracleCalendar_inst directory
In there is the actual installer, cal_linux.
    - the cal_linux is shell script wrapped around some binary blobs. The installer's
problem is that Oracle is setting the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 environment
variable, which is a mistake on RHEL5. You need to make it not set that variable,
but you need to do so in a way that the size of the shell script does not change at all,
and none of the binary blobs are impacted.
    - the approach I took was
    mv cal_linux cal_linux.BAK
    sed -e 's/LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5/LD_ASSUME_KERNEL= /g' < cal_linux.BAK > cal_linux
    chmod a+rx cal_linux
    cal_linux -i gui
Note: you must have exactly 5 spaces in the substitution part of the sed command, because you're replacing 5 characters (2.2.5), and the size of the shell script must not change.
If you do that, the installer should run (one warning from awk still) and you should be able to install the product.

  • Oracle 9i on LINUX Transparent Gateway for SQL Server

Does anybody know if there is a Transparent Gateway available for Oracle 9i on LINUX to connect to SQL Server? I have run the installer and cannot seem to find the install options for any Transparent Gateways. I am familiar with their location in the universal installer as I have installed the Oracle/SQL Server Transparent Gateway with Oracle in WinNT. Perhaps Transparent Gateways for Oracle/LINUX are not available?
    Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue - we want to upgrade our 9.2 to 10g Linux, and need to maintain connectivity to some legacy sqlserver databases. I can't find any mention of tg4msql for linux. What gives? Anyone know the answer to this? thanks, michael

  • DW will no longer connect to host FTP.

This is the error I am receiving:
"An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. User limit reached or not authorized to make the connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data."
I have made no changes on either end, confirmed no issues on host end, and can get no help from Adobe or the DW Facebook sites. My firewalls are OFF, my Apps and OSX are current and I cannot get an explanation for "user limits reached". I have had this issue for a week now, exhausted internet searches and have no answers - and no work until I can sort this out.

    @Jeff & Lauren,
You're missing Ken's point entirely. For trouble shooting purposes, install a 3rd party FTP client like Filezilla to rule out causes for the connection failure. If Filezilla cannot connect, then something other than DW is causing the problem.
FileZilla - The free FTP solution
Either your host reset permissions on your server.  GoDaddy is notorious for this.  Or you have a firewall, antivirus  or router problem that is precluding a connection to your remote server.
If you can connect with Filezilla, we need to re-examine your site definition settings in DW.

  • Installing oracle 10g and 11g client  on the same Linux RHEL 5.4 host

Is it possible to install Oracle 10g and 11g client on the same Linux RHEL 5.4 host and have the application switch between 10g and 11g? and how would the 10g and 11g be installed?

    Thanks for your reply.
Typeically if 10g is installed in /home/roacle/product/10.2.0, are you saying that for 11g, it would be /home/oracle/product/11.0.0 ?
How about switching the application? Does changing the ORACLE_HOME and PATH environment variable setting enough ? Let's say from
    ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/product/10.2.0/client_1 to /home/oracle/product/11.0.0/client_1

    Markus,
I have also another hint from SELinux.
When I change the SELinux parametr from Enforced to Permissive, and I run the SAPinst program, the SELinux pops up the following alert:
    Summary:
SELinux is preventing java from loading
    /tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so which requires
    text relocation.
    Detailed Description:
[SELinux is in permissive mode, the operation would have been denied but was
    permitted due to permissive mode.]
The java application attempted to load
    /tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so which requires
text relocation. This is a potential security problem. Most libraries do not
need this permission. Libraries are sometimes coded incorrectly and request this
permission. The SELinux Memory Protection Tests
(http://people.redhat.com/drepper/selinux-mem.html) web page explains how to
remove this requirement. You can configure SELinux temporarily to allow
    /tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so to use relocation
as a workaround, until the library is fixed. Please file a bug report
    (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/enter_bug.cgi) against this package.
    Allowing Access:
    If you trust /tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so to
run correctly, you can change the file context to textrel_shlib_t. "chcon -t
    textrel_shlib_t
    '/tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so'" You must also
change the default file context files on the system in order to preserve them
even on a full relabel. "semanage fcontext -a -t textrel_shlib_t
    '/tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so'"
The following command will allow this access:
    chcon -t textrel_shlib_t '/tmp/sapinst_exe.6387.1318347447/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so'
====>>> Does it make some sense ?? When do I have to the below command ?
    Hope this will help
