    Hi,
That is definitely a product manager - positioning question (forum ID: oalonso), so I'd recommend that you ask the same question in the SES forum. The Text team has been monitoring that forum and answering most of the posts there, so you'd probably be more likely to get your question answered.

  • Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2) has been certified ?

In this Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2) have many bug fix.
Is Oracle JHeadstart 10g Release 9.0.5.1 has been certified with the Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2) ?

To summarize the position of JHeadstart for ADF (JHeadstart 10.1):
Almost a year ago, we already announced the JHeadstart for ADF release, explaining how you can ensure that the migration will go as smooth as possible. See the forum thread at its Jheadstart like ADF? .
This information was also included in the JHeadstart Frequently Asked Questions (see questions 15 and 15a) at http://www.oracle.com/technology/consulting/9iservices/jhs_faq_ext905.htm .
    Quote from the JHeadstart FAQ:
If you already use JHeadstart we recommend you to upgrade to the new version of JHeadstart (9.0.5.1) do the following to make the migration from this JHeadstart release to the JHeadstart-ADF release as smooth as possible:
    [ul][li]
    * generate as much as possible of your application using the JAG. The metadata structure will stay the same, but the generator output will be fairly different.
    [li][li]
    * put all your business logic in BC4J app modules or ViewObjects. Do not put a lot of code in handler business methods, but have the handler business methods delegate to the corrsponding AM or VO. The reason for this is that the handlers will go away in ADF, ADF allows you to drag and drop your (client exported) AM/VO methods directly onto your page or Struts action.
    [li][ul]
If you have not used JHeadstart before you can either start using ADF or JHeadstart and make the switch to ADF when JHeadstart-ADF release comes out like described above. In all circumstances it is a good choice to familiarize yourself with ADF. Good knowledge of this framework is required when you use the JHeadstart-ADF release.
JHeadstart is the only tool that offers you migration of your existing application structure and data operations to the ADF Model (Data Controls and Data Bindings).
Furthermore, the new JHeadstart 10.1.0 release (compatible with JDeveloper 10.1.2.0.0) will be able to generate more features than the previous release JHeadstart 9.0.5, which means that you will need less post-generation changes.
    kind regards,

  • Help on Debug Mode in Oracle JDeveloper 10g/OC4J

    Hi All,
Presently I am using Oracle JDeveloper 10g Early Access version
              ADF Business Components     10.1.3.34.12
              Java™ Platform          1.5.0_05
              Oracle IDE               10.1.3.34.12
              PMD               JDeveloper Extension 1.7
              and OC4J.
I want to debug all the Java files between request submission and getting response from the server in j2ee application. This we can do in eclipse ide by putting break points where ever we require and running the server in debugging mode. But I don't know how this can be done in JDeveloper/OC4J. Please can any one of you guide me, if you are aware of it. Thanks in advance.
    -immu

If you mean remote debugging the application on a stand alone OC4J then here is a basic how-to:

This is also covered in the online help.

  • Any solutions from oracle  to improve Performance in Oracle Jdeveloper 10g

    Hi ,
We are developing ADF Applications in Oracle Jdeveloper 10g , 4 developers are working . now every one M/c Ram upgraded to 4 GB
Still my developers are getting Performance issue , Like Java Heap memory Reached . when we saw in Task Manager Memeusage reached 450,000K
then Jdeveloper dies and hang there . we have to do this at least 4 to 5 times everyday . thats where it taking a lots of time to
modify a single small changes .
What our deveoper are doing they trying to commit frequently after making a important changes in application . but sometimes developer are also
forget in between . So wee need a solution for this if Oracle fixes this issue .
    Thanks
    KP

    Hi,
We never had that issue with 10g (but happens in 11g), what is the project's size? I assume very big, else your environment must have something fishy, 10g is really fast and lightweight.

  • Oracle JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.1) on Mac OS X !

Just downloaded and tried out the Production version of JDeveloper 10g and seems to work perfectly (running 10.3.3 and Java 1.4.2). I don't see Mac OS X listed as a supported platform, but it does have a "Darwin" specific conf file. Also, in Preferences > Look and Feel, there is a "Mac OS X" option, which is cool. Thanks Oracle! I can't wait to see the release of 10g database for Mac OS X.

    Installing jdev on mac OSX10.3:
-Unpack the JDev bundle to your Applications directory. Be sure to get an install that does NOT include a JVM.
-In a terminal window, cd to the jdev bin directory:
    cd /Applications/jdev/jdev/bin
(path may vary depending on how you unpacked)
-From that directory, start jdev by typing:
    sh jdev
-jdev will prompt you for your path to a JDK. There are several paths you can use which are various links to specifically installed version, links to the current version, etc. I used:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Home
(Points to the Home of the current version of the JDK)
A few improvements from the basic setup:
-Create a link in your /usr/bin directory so that you can start jdev simply by typing jdev in a terminal. To do this:
    cd /usr/bin
    ln -s /Applications/jdev/jdev/bin/jdev jdev
(Make sure the linked path matches your install location).
-'fix' the depreciated system properties in the /Applications/jdev/jdev/bin/jdev-Darwin.conf file (this file is used for platform specific configuration on OSX). the bottom part of my file looks like this (note that I am including the portions I commented out - the stuff above that in the file I left alone):
    #AddVMOption -Dcom.apple.macos.useScreenMenuBar=false
    #AddVMOption -Dcom.apple.macosx.AntiAliasedTextOn=false
    #AddVMOption -Dcom.apple.macosx.AntiAliasedGraphicsOn=false
    AddVMOption -Dcom.apple.macos.useScreenMenuBar=false
    AddVMOption -Dapple.awt.TextAntialiasing=false
    AddVMOption -Dapple.awt.Antialiasing=true
    # Disable hardware acceleration as XOR doesn't work under Quartz
    AddVMOption -Dcom.apple.hwaccel=false
Hope that helps anyone trying to install. If anyone has suggestions for 'tuning' parameters to add to the config for the Apple 1.4.2 JVM, I'd love to hear them!
    Thanks,
    Eric Everman

  • Print reports + Oracle JDeveloper 10g

Can anybody tell me, how can I compose good looking reports with JDeveloper 10g , if I'm working on the jsp-application and need to print them from this application? Is there any demo or tutorial?
    Thanks a lot

Well JSP is just HTML with dynamic data in it - so you'll need to work your HTML charms to make it look nice.
If you are interested there are specialized reporting tools that let you layout the report in an easier way - one example is Oracle Reports - http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports

  • Oracle JDeveloper 10g with Sun Java App server

I have oracle JDeveloeper 10g and sun App Server 8. I want to find out if JDeveloper can create entity beans that can run on Sun app server.
I know that sun app server uses things like sun-cmp-mapping.xml and sun-ejb-jar.xml. If i create these as normal in JDeveloper would they run on sun app server? if not what configuration do i need to do?

Sun Java App Server 8 doesn't ship with the Apache Tomcat jk/jk2 connector. But you can download Tomcat 5 and install it. Copy ${catalina_home}/server/lib/tomcat-jk2.jar under $s1as_home}/lib
Now Sun Java App Server 8 will have the code required. Then you will need to start the jk connector (this is the most difficult task). Since you don't have any API to start this connector to listen (in Tomcat, the connector is started by default and listen on port 8009), the only way for you to start it is to use JMX. Pick one of the available JMX client ( jmx-ri is a good candidate), and do:
    (1) create the connector
    (2) start the connector
Then follow the Jakarta Tomcat instruction on how to install Apache and JK2.
I didn't spend the time to find the exact command for JMX, but technically it should work. Once I have time I will take a look (The Tomcat 5 Admin Gui uses JMX, so by browing the code you should find the exact JMX command)
    Hope that help.

  • Test oracles jdeveloper 10g claims

    Hi,
I have a course assignment that I need help with from someone experienced with object orientation and JDeveloper.
Basically I am investigating the claim that oracle jdeveloper (most recent version 10g v9.0.5.2) is java enabled. Oracle say they have embedded with java. Im Looking at the extent to which this is true.
    Questions and ideas that im looking to answer and include within the auctions web site below;
Have business logic actually embedded within the oracle database
To develop multi-tier software using JDeveloper
Does JDeveloper really offer lots of scope for multi tier java application development?
How does JDeveloper actually support jakarta struts?
Basically put together a database, where the logic of the system should be within the system. The business logic outside of the database. Put business logic into objects themselves in order to improve data independence have applications independent of each other with multiple programs accessing same files
object oriented business logic must sit within the database tier with middle tier the controller
    thanks

    Thanks for your reply Duncan
    I am would be very interested in your detailed views on the following. Please provide as much details as possible. I would be very grateful for your view as a developer;

Can any boby tell me another way to integate Crystal report with Jdeveloper
    Sincerely,
      Amol

Something is writing out to both the JSP Response Writer and OutputStream.  Writer is for text and OutputStream is for binaries.
This typically happens, especially on WebSphere and Oracle OC4J, when exporting a Crystal Report in the viewer.  The DHTML view is HTML text, but the exports are binaries.
I'd recommend putting Crystal Report Viewer object in a Servlet - there you'd have full control over what goes in Writer and OutputStream.  Once in the Servlet, ensure you don't write anything out yourself, but let the viewer have full control over what goes out.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda
