Organizing, deleting, renaming sequences

I have encountered a realy strange problem with Premiere Pro CS6 - when I import a clip, and then drag it into the timeline, it plays with only an portion of the full image (ie, part of the person's face, instead of full head & shoulders). Since this is one of those incomprehensible glitches (it has nothing to do with the % option, even when I reduce it to 10% the tiny screen only contains the same hacked up portion), I gave up trying to fix it and just started a new sequence, and found that the same clip, dragged into the timeline, played full size.
Now I want to delete the old sequence so i can rename the new one with the same name as the deleted old one and just pray this weird glitch never recurs.
First: has anyone ever had a similar problem?
Secondly, and most importantly, can someone explain to me how to organize, delte, and rename sequences?
thanks in advance
Jasun

thanks for the reply, shooterz
I created two sequences and didn't do anything differently each time; yet in the second one, the footage was fully visible and in the first it wasnt.
also, the first clip I imported into the first sequence was of the exact same dimensions as the second clip, and yet it appeared complete, where the second clip did not.
Do you mind telling me how to access/open the Project Bin?

  • Deleting & renaming files - is there a shortcut to finder?

I am a recent convert from PC to Mac. So far so good. However, one thing starts to drive me up the wall which is deleting/renaming files in programs such as photoshop, word, excel etc.etc.
As far as I can tell, this is only possible in the finder menu. Is this Correct? I am using a lot of folders and subfolders - sometimes 3-4 levels deep. Every time I need to change/delete a file or filename - lets say while in photoshop, I have to go to finder and click my way through several levels of folders to the actual file I need to change. This is somewhat annoying and timeconsuming.
Question 1: is there a way to do these operations in - lets say photoshop directly?
Question 2: If not, is there a shortcut key that would point me automatically to the file in finder where I can make the changes?
Your input would be very helpful and save me some aggravation.

    Hi Greg,
Thanks for your input. You are correct as far as "save" and "save as" is concerned. Windows and Mac work the same way.
However, as far as I can tell, in Mac you can only "delete" or "rename" a file in "finder" which forces you to open up finder and locate the file in order to delete or change it.
In windows you can do these 2 functions directly in the program (such as photoshop, excel or words). You do not have to go to "explorer or root directory" to make these changes which I believe would be the equivalent of "finder".
In any case, Terence solved the problem. By command clicking the name (title) of the file in any program, it opens up the directory in "finder". This way makes it easy to select the file and do the changes.

  • Can't delete, rename files, or move to another folder

I had posted earlier about not being able to delete, rename files, or move to another folder. It never was resolved here, and I guess Apple still hasn't done anything about it. Here's a great workaround I found though in case others need something. Download the program called "Unlocker", it's free and you can get it at http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ When you get the message about the file being in use, even though QuickTime isn't even open, you can unlock the f'ing file and do whatever you want to then, move, uh DELETE, or rename, or whatever. Try it, it's the best thing going so far seeing Apple isn't doing anything about this problem.

    Hi there,
I am still struggling with this problem. Actually my coworker has the same machine, Apple pro with windows xp installed, but he does not have this problem with his quicktime 7.5. I uninstalled 7.5 and installed 7.2, but it did not solve the problem. The fact is that I don't have the problem in my laptop which I am using it in the office. I am still trouble shooting. Hopefully I can find an answer.
    Peace

  • Remember file renaming sequence

Is it possible for LR3 to remember a file naming sequence for a folder.  That is, each time I move images to a folder can the rename sequence previously applied to that folder be recalled along with the current sequece number so that additional files can be added?
    Thanks.

Look what's the last file's sequence number in that folder and rename new files starting with the next number.
By the way, why do you move files around once they have been injested/imported? I'd take a look at my workflow if that involves moving files into folder along the workflow path.
Also, the very fact of renaming files is a bad idea. The name should be as an identifier: unique and constant over the file's life time.

  • Warning: has been deleted, renamed...

I am using LV 8.5, and in the project explorer window, one of my vi's "Read lines from file with no error.vi" has a warning message next to it stating "Warning: has been deleted, renamed, or moved on disk".
It doesn't appear that this vi exists anymore in the vi.lib. What can I do to fix this?

I encounted the same problem when i try to open the keithley 27xx.lib,but i have resloved it,the problem is that the directory is too complex to find it!
     The wrong directory-->C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\instr.lib\keithley2700\Keithley 27XX\keithley 27xx.lvlib
     The right directory-->C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\instr.lib\Keithley 27XX\keithley 27xx.lvlib
you can see,if delete the part of "keithley 2700" in the directory, then when opening the "keithley 27xx.lvlib"again,there doesn't come out the waining:has been deleted,renamed......
Just a reference,i don't know wether it comply with you or not!

  • Deleting last Sequence in File causes error

I'm experiencing a functionally minor but very visible issue, has anyone seen this before?
    1. I insert a new Sequence in a Sequence File at the bottom of the list
    2. I delete the Sequence and TestStand throws the error below
    <<-N->>

I was trying to cleaup the sensitive code from my sequence file so I could post it in here (it happens to be my process model) and I ended up removing everything (sequences, FG variables, types) and the problem persisted.
Then I remembered a I actually have a hidden sequence (flags set to 0x8) in the file, it helped that I tried to diff it with another sequence in ini format. So it turns out this it what is actually causing the problem.
When I have the StationOptions>Preferences>ShowHiddenProperties checkbox unchecked and I insert a new sequence and then delete it the problem persists. When the checkbox is checked the sequence is visible and I can insert a new sequence and then delete it the without seeing the API error message.

  • Project renames sequence and all clips in the sequence when a clip is added

My project is renaming my sequences and the clips in those sequences whenever I add a clip. For example, I have a sequence called "dance section 2", which contains 20 some-odd clips with various names. When I add a clip named "drop from above", the name of the sequence is changed to "drop from above", and the name of every other clip in the sequence is also changed to "drop from above" (video, audio, stills, everything). When I add a clip named "spins", all the names are changed to "spins".
The name of the sequence is changed in both the timeline and the browser, but the names of the other clips are changed only in the timeline. In the browser, they keep their old names. The exception to this is the last clip added before the name changer. For example, if I add "drop from above" to the sequence, and then add "spins", the clip named "drop from above" is renamed "spins" in the browser as well as in the timeline, but the other clips are renamed only in the timeline.
The clips in the sequence also keep their original content - so the sequence looks the same as it did before, but all the names of the clips are changed.
This is only happening in one project. All of my other projects are working fine.
I've tried restarting and deleting preferences. I've also looked at the autosave vault for the project. The backup projects saved after a certain time all behave the same way, and the projects before that time all behave normally. I can't imagine what would have caused this, though, since I've been working on this project all day and nothing's happened to my computer or hard drive or anything.
Also, there are no freeze frames at the beginnings of my sequences (I read another thread with a somewhat similar issue and getting rid of freeze frames seemed to help that person).
I'm in FCP 7.0 on a Macbook Pro.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Welcome to the discussions...
I've had this happen. My guess is that it's related to round-tripping to/from Color, but I can't be sure. IMHO, the sequence is corrupted. I just dealt with it for a while, then rebuilt it by making changes from an earlier version.
Sorry I don't have a better solution, but at least you know you're not alone.

  • Can't delete, rename or unlock a file

My wife (running 10.8.5 on a 13" MacBook Pro July 2012) changed the name of a downloading file seconds before the download completed.  She now has a 15.6 Mb .mp3 file on her desktop which can't be played (I have tried MPEG Streamclip as well as Quicktime), deleted ("The operation can't be completed because one or more required items can't be found. (Error code -43)"), renamed, unlocked or have its permissions changed.  The information window looks like this:
Sometimes these "ghost files" can be cleared by relaunching Finder - didn't work, neither did a restart.  I used Disk Utility to check the Hard Drive - OK - and correct permissions - lots of changes but not to this file.  I tried changing permissions on her desktop folder using "apply to all" but that didn't work.  I tried using the command "chflags -R nouchg" in terminal but that didn't work either (found in another discussion) probably because dragging the file to terminal only inserted the name and not the full path to the file.  I then tried restoring my wife's desktop file from Time Machine. That removed all the files from her desktop except the errant file without replacing them because Time Machine skipped that step because the permission were incorrect.  I spent 3 hours copying the deleted files back manually from the Time Machine Back up.
In the course of copying from Time Machine, I noticed that the back up copy of the errant file on Time Machine was behaving properly, so I copied it back to Desktop hoping that it would simply replace the errant file.  Instead, I got two copies of the errant file which now both behave normally:
changed to but when I renamed one of the files, the other lost its properties and went back to being untouchable.
One solution would be to start up from Time Machine (as a network disc - I believe this is possible but haven't done it), completely reformat the Hard Drive and then restore my wife's Hard Drive from the Time Machine back up.  This seems like a lengthy and risky procedure just to get rid of this annoying file.
    Any other ideas?

The following will delete that file immediately, no questions asked:
Pay attention to these directions very carefully, and use at your own risk. One typo (an extra space inserted) could destroy your entire installation. Be absolutely certain that when you enter this command it looks EXACTLY the same for spaces and case (excepting the Chinese characters) as it does here.
Open Terminal.app in Applications>Utilities and enter
    sudo rm -rf
Important, leave a space after the -rf and drag the problem file into the Terminal window, which should then appear as:
sudo rm -rf /Users/el/Desktop/xxx.mp3 (with the three Chinese characters replacing the xxx)
There are single spaces only between sudo and rm, between rm and -rf and between -rf and /Users....  (It is possible, but not likely, that the Chinese characters may appear with spaces, including a backslash \ after the file is dragged into Terminal).
Hit enter/return, whereupon you will be asked for your admin password, which won't appear in any form as you type it in. (If you have never used the sudo prefix before in Terminal, you will get a warning. Ignore it and proceed anyway.) Then hit return again. The file should be gone from the Desktop.
If you like, you can do everything here up until hitting enter/return, then post back with resulting command in Terminal copied and pasted before proceeding, so I can check that it's looking OK.

  • Batch Rename Sequence Letter Doesn't Start with A

I'm using Adobe Bridge CS3 to rename files.
Several of the files require me to use the SEQUENCE LETTER function under BATCH RENAME.
However, the names of the files contain a sequence of letters that start in the MIDDLE of the ALPHABET (i.e.  C, D, E, F, G, etc...)
I can't find an option to let me start lettering form a letter other than A.
    Help!

I actually can managed to do it but there is a problem that I could not solve..

  • How to delete & rename Quicktime files in Windows?

    Hi all,
I am having a problem to remove(delete) and rename quicktime files in Windows XP pro because it says "*Cannot delete .... It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.*". I saw the same post with this issue in Page 3 in this forum, but we don't get the answer yet. Please give us the answer for it with this quicktime issue in Windows.
Followings are some answers that I found in other websites, but none of them solves this problem.
You can't delete those Quicktime movies because they are being used/opened by Quicktime. Run your Quicktime and clear any playlists that you saved and then open a video (that is not in one of the videos you wanted to delete). Then exist the program. Now go delete the videos you wanted to delete earlier and see if you can delete them this time.
If you have quicktime running in the background, it will own it so you can't delete it.Rebooting may not help because quicktime usually starts with Windows. Go to C: Windows/system32 and scroll down to msconfig.exe. You can open it or right click, hold, drag it to you desktop, release right click, and create a shortcut to it. Open the shortcut (double click), go to the startup tab, and uncheck all instances of quicktime. Reboot and try to do what you want with the .mov file.
Thank you very much in advance.

I've been having the same issue here. I've searched high and low for a real solution and haven't found a thing. Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Deleted browse sequence keeps appearing

I deleted the browse sequence of the main project and of the
only sub project. I checked both BRS files: they were empty.
There must be another place where the browse sequence is kept
    and used by Robohelp.
Can anybody tell me in which file?
Earlier, the present main project was the sub project and the
sub project was the main project. The browse sequence that still
appears, is an old BS of the project that originally was the main
    project.

    Hi all
yellowpepper, the browse sequence is only stored in the .BRS
file. As you say it's still appearing, I'm thinking you are
probably seeing an older version of the file. You might wish to run
the errant file and right-click any topic page and look at the
properties. This should show something like:
    mk:@MSITStore:C:\SomeFolder\SomeOtherFolder\FileName.chm::/SomeFolder/SomeTopic.htm
This should tell you where the file you are viewing is
located. I'm betting you find that it's not the file you think it
    may be.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Can't Delete/Rename Smart Mailbox

I don't seem to be able to rename or delete smart mailboxes in mail. I control-click to choose Rename or Delete, I can temporarily change the name or remove the mailbox,  but after quitting and relaunching mail the old smart mailbox with the old name is still there. Happens on both my laptop and desktop, both running 10.9.2.

    Lisa,
Open the Inbox of only the main account, click on Mailbox in the menubar, and choose Rebuild. During Rebuild all messages will disappear from the list of messages, but then will reappear when Rebuild finishes.
You may want to make a backup copy of the Mail folder, for peace of mind before doing this. In the Finder, open Home/Library and find the Mail folder (Home is the folder that opens when you click on the Icon of a House in the Sidebar to the Finder window, btw), Control-click over the Mail folder, choose Duplicate, and then drag the resulting copy to the Desktop strictly for temporary backup.
Have you ever used the command to Erase Deleted Message, btw?

  • Error -43 when trying to move/delete/rename a file.

I have two files on my computer, each within a folder inside a folder. The outer folder can be renamed and moved, but no contents can be renamed, moved or deleted.
Whenever I try to delete or move or rename any of the internal files I get an Error -43. I know it's not permissions since it won't let me change them, but the permissions show up as fine. If I try anything else I just get the error. If I put them in the trash it empties the trash but the files remain.
    Any idea? I'm using OS X 10.4.8.

Aah. The old Adobe License file, I bet. I managed to delete mine, but I forget how. I did a quick Google search, though, and turned up someone who had this same problem and fixed it by running fsck in single user mode. Unfortunately, the site is down right now for an upgrade...
Apple's Knowledge Base has an article about running Disk Utility to fix disk problems. I think running Disk Utility (you have to boot from your install disc for it to be able fix the disk) is the same as running fsck from single user mode.
