Organizing iPhone icons
I have a lot of applications on my iPhone. When they download there doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason for where the icons appear on my phone. I want to organize the icons in some logical fashion so that I am not always flipping back and forth through the pages to find what I am looking for. Is there a way to organize how the icons appear on the different screens other than holding down an icon until it wiggles and then dragging it?
I have five full pages of icons and doing it that way is very, very cumbersome. Does anyone know how else you can do it?

Allan has it spot-on as usual. No other way exists today for moving icons than you described.
Also you are also probably aware of the effect updates have on applications. When you update an application from the AppStore on the phone, the icon will move to the first available open space and start updating. It will stay there after the update. This makes icon arrangement a little frustrating to some users.
Jailbroken (hacked)phones have many icon management tools and some are pretty clever. At this time, the tools Apple gave to the developers(in SDK) do not allow icon management beyond the one icon the app installs on the phone.
We can hope this will change in the future as people ask for more customization of their phones.

after upgrades, suddenly no music is on or can be synched to the iPhone. It is all there on my computer but cannot get it to synch back. I tried copying over older itl fils t no avail.

Any suggestions?From the requirements point of view, you can happily move to iOS 6. From the user tranquility pov, it's a crapshoot. Remember that MILLIONS of iDevices have been sold, a couple of those just this past Xmas season and hence all with iOS 6 preinstalled. "Many complain in the forums" is a number that ranges in the 10's or 100's: i.e., a minuscule amount of the total devices out there. And. of course, nobody comes here to gush excitedly about how well his iGadget works; everybody here (save those of us regular users who attempt to help, we're not Apple employees) has a gripe, grumble or complaint.
I can tell you from personal experience that my i5 with iOS 6.1.4 works as desired. All my colleagues' iPhones with iOS 6 work as expected. And we have a particularly flaky Wi-Fi environment thanks to our less than stellar netadmins.
But in the end, it is entirely up to you. Will you bite the bullet, or wait some more? Check the new stuff that came with iOS 6 and decide whether or not to risk it. -
When I plug my iphone 5s into my desktop computer, the iphone icon which you click on to to wnable you to synch your device with itunes does not appear. Its like being signed into itunes without a device connected.
If you look in the top left hand corner, this is where the icon should appear apparently, but as you can see, on my account it just isnt appearing! my usb cable is new from an Apple store and isnt faulty. The desktop computer is also new.What happens if you go to iTunes > File > Devices, do you get the option to Sync iPhone?

In iTunes the iPhone device icon will not show up whenever I plug in a USB into my PC but the iPhone icon will show up in 'This PC' so if anyone who knows a resolution to my problem with my iTunes or PC,it would really help me.I need at least Help or some Tips.I have already tried many things to iTunes and my PC like trying to restore my PC but that do anything.Also,would it be fine if i contacted (call) Apple Support? Iphone icon dose not appear in ' My Computer' , but appears in Itunes.

I have an Iphone 8GB (1st Gen), initially the 'Iphone' icon would appear in 'My Computer', but recently it has stopped appearing! I have tried changing USB slots, reinstalled the driver, but it still dosent work.
Itunes has no problems detecting the Iphone. The problem now lies with the 'My Computer.
RgdsReason I ask if you have pictures in your camera roll is because if you don't then there is nothing to transfer thus no reason for the iPhone to report out to Windows that it is a camera. Thus won't show up under My Computer as a camera/scanner and won't pop up the options of what to do.

My iphone icon shows in itunes but is missing from my computer desktop. It is detected as a iphone camera device. I have tried everything from uninstalling-reinstalling, disabling-enabling, and updating. Still no iphone icon showing in my computer desktop. When I connect my iphone and open itunes the iphone icon shows up but when I click it nothing happens and the icon disappears. I have uninstalled and re-installed itunes. Turned my computer off, and turned my iphone off. Restarted everything. Synced my iphone and my itunes and nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? I am using Windows

IPhone icon disappears in iTunes when attempting to sync.
When I plug my iPhone 3G into my Macbook Pro the iPhone icon pops up in iTunes as it should and it begins to sync. However, after a few seconds the icon disappears although the phone still says "Sync in Progress." I end up having to cancel the sync from the phone because it sits at the "Sync in Progress" screen seemingly forever without actually syncing anything.
I have a Macbook Pro running the latest version of Snow Leopard(10.6.4) and the latest version of iTunes (10.0.1). My iPhone 3G is running iOS 4, version 4.1.

IPhone icon disappeared from iTunes after successful iOS 8.1 installation
Just after I just successfully downloaded and installed iOS 8.1 onto my iPhone 5 from iTunes, I got the following message: "iTunes could not connect this phone. The session ID is missing". I have no idea what that message meant, but now there's no longer an iPhone icon showing in iTunes, although there was before I upgraded the iOS. I had successfully bought several "songs" from the iTunes Store and synced them just prior to uploading the new iPhone iOS. I guess now I will have to eject the phone improperly. Any idea what "ID" that message was referring to, and what I should do? I want to also upgrade the iOS of my iPad, but don't want the same thing to happen.

you will NOT see my touch-icon. The difference must be that, for the way I've got my domain name set up iDisk/Web/Sites is defined as the root. For web.mac.com, it uses an index file one folder deeper in. So, for iWeb sites that are NOT using a domain name like mine, you will have to edit the index file at the location described on this page.

With Macintosh Computers there is no Finder or Desktop icon for iPhone. Just unplug the iPhone. In iTunes application this is different and you can so-called eject it if you want.
