OS Boot Error

I just installed a new KD7 Master Motherboard, and I keep getting "Error Loading Operating System".  The MB seems to be working fine.  According to all documentation that I can find, suggests that there is a BIOS problem - "BIOS does not correctly manage or support the capacity of the hard disk on which you are installing Windows XP".  Or is it a hard drive problem??  Any ideas???  I am attempting a fresh installation of XP.  This problem occures upon rebooting.
My System Includes:
OS: Windows XP Pro
Memory: 1GB (2) 512MB PC2100 (266MHz) ECC Register DDR
CPU: (2) AMD Athlon MP 2000+ (1.67GHz) 266Mhz
HardDrive: (1) Seagate 80GB 7200 RPM ATA/100 2MB - ST380021A
BIOS: 1.6
CDROM: IBM 33L5001 CD-ROM drive
Video Card: ASUS V7700TI Pure 64MB DDR
Floppy Drive: FD235HFWHITE Teac 3.5" 1.44 Floppy Drive
Internam Modem: US Robotics V.92 Perf. Pro Modem 56K PCI
USB: Card that came with Motherboard package.

I have resolved the OS loading error.  The problem turned out to be my Hard Drive!! I had replaced every thing except my harddrive.  The confusing thing is that I could put my HD in another machine and I could read and write to it just fine; however, I did not try booting off that drive.  As soon as I installed a fresh HD, out of the box, the machine came up fine.
I replaced my HD with the same - Seagate 80GB 7200 RPM ATA/100 2MB - ST380021A
'wonkanoby' - For you info my PSU in an Antec True Poswer 430 Watt; don't have the I and VA specs handy.
Thanks for you feedback.

  • Share FCPX with Blu-ray  USB3 LaCie writer boot error

    Hi
I've been around the bush and back looking at how to burn a blu-ray movie to a disc from FCPX and a slim Blu-ray LaCie drive.  I was able to burn a 5 minute movie from FCPX without any trouble but as soon as I try and burn something larger (like an 11gig movie) 1080 HD I get up in the morning to find an error referring to boot directory or something with a boot in it. Sorry can't be more secific than that.  It's costing me everytime it goes wrong.
I logged a job with LaCie and they said any disc is compaitble so i'm wondering whether there is an issue with Final Cut Pro X ?  Thank you for any assistance.
    Mike

OK, I have FCPX. I burned DVDs etc all fine. I then burn a Blu-ray.  Initially I tried to save to hard drive and burn from there but that didn't work.  Seeing FCPX can burn directly to optical device (LaCie) I tried that (share menu in FCP) I got a boot error message that I didn't take a note of.  Today I tried again after I checked a few things out.  I put in my BD-R disc into the device.  FCPX says it is "finishing create blu-ray disc: burning Blu-ray"
at 85% it then said Insert Disc, i did this and it is hanging.
I have been able to burn a 5 mintue Blu-ray sucessfully but as soon as I get to a 55 minute movie I have been unsuccessful.  Layers are automatic.  speed is automatic, it's a brand new mac running OS X 10.8.2    The guy I bought the discs from reccomends Roxio but why should I buy new software when FCPX says it burns.

  • Boot Error Sequence

IdeaCentre K210 57078894 works fine until I completely shut it down and restart it.  I get errors like Boot Error Sequence, PXE-E53 No boot filename received, PXE-M0F.  When I go to the BIOS setup it says Primary IDE not detected.  Can anyone help fix this problem?

    Hi,
You might try removing the hard drive and then put it in an external 3.5" USB enclosure and then test it on a different PC. This type of adapter could also be used to test the hard drive on another PC.

  • Some boot error

I am getting some boot error at the very end at boot time and it moves to fast for me to catch it.
I did try with read -n1 added to rc.conf but as the error is at the very end so it just jumps past the error.
I had a look in /var/log files but could not really find anything.
Where to find the boot log? Or something else?

You should add read at the end of /etc/rc.local

  • [Solved]Syslinux "booting... boot error" when booting Windows 7

Hello, I've set up my computer to dual boot windows and arch. Windows is on a separate hard drive and I was able to configure syslinux with a boot menu allowing me to select Windows at startup. For a long time this has worked without any problems whatsoever, but this morning I tried selecting windows and I got what is probably the most vague error message I have ever seen.
    "Booting...
    Boot Error"
According to this post this problem comes in when the ldsyslinux.sys file cannot be found. Unfortunately I was not able to use his suggested fix
    syslinux -U /dev/sdb1
I wasn't aware that there was a -U flag for syslinux and after checking it seems that there isn't one.

Sorry, I actually just fixed it on my own, it turns out my BIOS settings were a bit... weird. For some reason I didn't have my windows drive listed and it tried to boot a USB drive I had plugged into my computer. I just had to fix the drive order and it worked fine. Sorry about starting a fairly useless discussion.

  • Compaq CQ62-215DX-fan boot error, even after fan replacement

I have a Compaq CQ62-215DX laptop. Everytime on startup I get this boot error "a system fan is not operation correctly" The system then automatically shuts itself down after a few seconds.
I ordered a replacement fan and installed it, however I'm still getting the same issue.
I figure the chances of the newly installed replacement fan being DOA are fairly low, so what should be next step to fixing my problem? Are there any common problems with the replacement of these fans on this particular computer? The laptop is a few months out of warranty so I'm either stuck paying a bunch of money to fix it, or buying a new computer if I can't fix it myself. Help!

It's either a bad fan which I agree is unlikely or a bad fan header on the motherboard which means a new motherboard. Sorry.

I have a 80gb Western Digital that i installed xp on using another computer but it still wont boot nor will the cd drive boot even with a 100% original valid windows installation disc.
No matter what I do I always get the stupid "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert Boot Media in
selected Boot device and press any key."
At first i thought the motherboard was fried so i sent it back and had it replaced.  Put it together, booted it, still the same problems.  I have the hard drive set as master drive and it has windows xp installed but it still wont boot from it. please assist
    System is:
    # Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

Take attention to WD jumper config:

  • GE60 0NC booting error

Hey guys my GE60 0NC seems te have some kind of issues.
When I boot it and logg in the booting seems to stop at the WiFi connecting.
At that moment I can start a few minor programs but a lot of booting hasnt been finished yet.
To fix this I tried to:
-Systemrepair it to 1 day ago
This seemed to help, I could use it again although it ran a lot slower than normal.
In addition some programs seem to have some error, for instance League of Legends won't boot.
However when I shut it down and rebooted it again I was back to the same booting error.
What could be the problem here?
Thank you very much for your time.
    Olav

I've been having the same problem for over a week (MSI GE60 - i5-3210M, 6GB RAM and GT650M; bought a bit over a year ago).
It started with a normal boot, but when I logged into my account I couldn't start any programs for 5-10 minutes. My S-Bar also stopped responding and crashed.
At first I suspected malware/virus, and actually found some shady files that I deleted with Malwarebytes Anti Malware.
The problem was still there though, so I did a system restore (I couldn't go back more than a few days) and that seemed to fix the problem - but after a reboot it was back.
I could find some errors, like the one you linked, in the Event Viewer - but also alot of Information-events from NvStreamSvc (several every sec) which is a part of Nvidia.
So today I uninstalled GeForce-experience (couldn't launch it apparently, got some error) and then installed an older display driver 310.90.
I also reinstalled my S-Bar and now it seems like I run pretty decent. The WiFi-logo has gone back to normal and I can start up programs early after a boot.
You could also try and uninstall some recent Windows Updates - I'm not sure if they're involved, but you could always give it a try.
Hopefully this helps you, or someone else, in some way.

  • BCD/boot error 0xc0000001 ~ stuck on broken windows partition

Okay so I have a macbook pro 2009 and I recently partitioned my hard drive to get windows 7 premium using bootcamp. While installing new software for my windows side it it froze up and I had to do a hardshut down. After I restarted my computer it came up with a black screen that says boot/bcd error - 0xc0000001
info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
    It instructs me to
    1. insert your windows installation disk and restart my computer
    2. choose your language settings and then click "next"
    3.click "repair your computer"
problems I've come across while attempting to fix this
    1. when selecting what operating system to repair after starting up the windows installation disk there are no operating system that shows up.
    2. "repair your computer" option does not work and cannot repair the problem.
    3. cannot hold down option to go back to Mac side because of EFI lock which I don't know the password to it.
    4. cannot get to safeboot for reasons unknown, but holding down f8 doesn't work and holding down FN with F8 also does not work. It just goes to the boot error screen.
    5. System restore does't work either.
    6. went into command prompt and typed sfc / scannow but it says that another scan is in progress but needs to reboot to start. Every time I restart the same message pops up.
All I really want to do is get back to my mac side so I can delete the partition at this point. But it is IMPOSSIBLE so if anybody knows any solutions please do share. thanks!

    Hi electrovalent,
I agree with Tripredacus,we seem to miss the important part that we should boot from the UEFI mode for a GPT format disk.To boot from the UEFI mode:
1.Insert the installation DVD or USB flash drive, and boot the computer.
2.When the firmware starts to initialize, press the key that opens the UEFI firmware boot device menu, such as Esc, F2, F9, F12.
3.Select an EFI drive, examples: EFI DVD/CD Drive, EFI USB Drive, or EFI Network Drive. You may be immediately prompted to press a key to boot from the drive to continue.
Here is a link for reference :
Walkthrough: Boot Windows PE from a UEFI-based Hard Disk
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh265131(v=ws.10).aspx
I have noticed you have tried the "Startup Repair"option before but I would suggest you try this option again .Because we have chosen the UEFI mode this time and this option is usually useful and convenient to repair the boot loader.
If the issue persists ,try the following command line .I also noticed you have tried the similar command line before but I have made a little modifications according to the screenshots you have posted.
    diskpart
    list vol
sel vol 2  (Volume 2 is the fat32 volume, this step is not included in the screenshot )
    assign letter=v
    exit
ren BCD BCD.old (Backup bcd )
    bcdboot c:\Windows /s v:

  • 648 Max Boot Error

    Hope someone can help...
I have just built a computer on the 648Max Motherboard.
My problem is, on first boot, the BIOS detects all hardware ok, but on re-boot, it fails after the MSI splash screen to find them and has a "boot error" on each, then asks for a boot disk in the FDD but this doesn't work either.
The "D Bracket" shows all four lights green.
I have checked all the connections countless times, even taken it back to barebone with no luck. I've checked the Hard Drive in an older computer and boot up fine into Win98.
I have no clue what else to try, the system spec is :-
    P4 2.4Ghz
    684 Max Motherboard
    Xabre 128Mb DDR Ram Graphics
    2x512Mb DDR Ram PC2100 Memory
    128Gb IBM Deskstar 180GXP HDD
    TEAC CD-W54E CDRW
    Samsung DVD8E DVD
    Windows 98SE
    Thanks...
     ?(

    Whipsnade...
Yes, i have tried other IDE cables that i know work fine.
Nope, i wasn't able to install windows, the hard drive was taken out of my older computer with it already installed which was working fine, and still does if i put the hard drive back.
All i have been able to do on the new computer is power up into BIOS, that's it...
The PSU i have is a brand new 350W which came with the case.
The hard drive does spin up yes...
    Andy2
Yes, the hard drive is set to master and is in the primary connector on the board, its a working drive from a previous system...
    Rob454
I've re-checked and i'm using a couple of older ide cables i know are ok, they actually have printed on them "board", "master and "slave"
Thank you all for your help, but i just don't know what to do with it now...

  • Windows boot error 0xc00000e9, 0xc0000098 in Lenovo U400

I've been getting boot error in my 8 month old Lenovo U400. No changes were done in hardware or software. It says bootbcd file is missing. Doesn't boot through hardware, but boots just well when I go to advanced boot menu and select the SSD option. The functioning of the laptop seems to be just as good, fast and there's no problem whatsoever after I boot through this. Then why doesn't it boot normally? Why does it say it could not find a valid OS entry??
I tried resettting the boot file. During the process I noticed that the partition with the OS is marked hidden and is a RAW partition, rather than NTFS. Since this error, I haven't been able to use Lenovo one key recovery either. I have never reinstalled/formatted a system with SSD, and am not quite sure if a clean reinstallation of Win OS would help.
    What should I do?

The moment you selected your drive to boot from start pressing F8 button, it should show you some extra boot options, where should be a repair option. Go there, it might ask you login, then there will be option to fix startup problems.

#3- If the TFTP is rerun the entire cycle starts again.

The IPS 4255 sensor appliance has only a single 512 MB internal CompactFlash module for storage by-default, so this part of the output you posted is interesting:
hda: TOQHIBA THLCD512MBA, CFA DISK drive
hdb: QalDisi QDAF@-510, ATA DISK drive
    ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
    hda: attached ide-disk driver.
    hda: task_no_data_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
    hda: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError }
    hda: 484848 sectors (248 MB) w/2KiB Cache, CHS=481/16/63
    hdb: attached ide-disk driver.
    hdb: task_no_data_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
    hdb: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError }
    hdb: 484848 sectors (248 MB) w/1KiB Cache, CHS=481/16/63
As it appears that two (2) 256 MB ("248 MB") storage devices are being detected (despite the model of the first even containing "512MB" in its name).
I'd recommend double-checking that there is nothing installed in the "External compact flash device" slot located on the back of the appliance. See here for reference: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/7.0/installation/guide/hw_installing_4240_4255.html#wp2726
If there is a CompactFlash module installed there, eject and remove it, then power-cycle the appliance and attempt the re-image ("recovery") process once more. If the boot output still contains the same errors for hda and hdb, then it is probably a failing/failed CompactFlash module, so an RMA will likely be necessary to resolve.

  • Fresh Installation Boot Errors

I'm new to trying to work with Solaris 10, and to a lot of Solaris in general, so while I'd normally be happy to do a lot of reading (and have tried searching for answers on google a good deal already), I'm having a problem after a fresh installation of Solaris 10 on a Sparc T3-1 server that I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to solve.
During the install I told the text installer I wanted to do a ZFS installation using both of my disks (only 2) in a mirrored configuration. I selected the default set of core system packages.
After the install seemed to be done and the system rebooted, I'm getting the following when it comes up:
Boot device: /pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@4/scsi@0/disk@w5000c5003a04f911,0:a File and args:

After doing a new install off of the install media (cd) I would have expected the system to be able to boot without errors, but obviously I've missed something or done something wrong, and I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction for figuring out what that is and fixing it.
I'm happy to provide any other details if there are questions.

I do see a few messages in the installation log that give me concern. The first is:

There are also a few that say:

The installer did seem to reboot at the end. Does the installer handle those 'reboot client' cases itself?
