OS UPDATE / Invalid Checksum / Appstore / Main Apple web page

Hi.. I know this conversation closed many months ago but I am having the same problem. I have just turned on one of my Macbooks and it indicated via the MacStore that I needed the recent update of IOSX software. Currently I am running 10.8.2... and it showed that I needed the new update of 10.8.3
I clicked on the download button and after download it came back with a message to say the file had been corrupted during download. I tried to download it again via the App Store but it then said that there are no current updates or all updates are current. I checked to make sure that the existing software had not updated and it had not. So I went to the Apple webpage where you are able to download files directly from the site. http://support.apple.com/downloads/
I then tried to download the 10.8.3 combo software... After about 35 mins I tried to install it from the Download file
After validating the file which is normal.. It cam back with an error - "Invalid Checksum" So I deleted the file from downloads and tried again.... Same thing...
I then tried to download the smaller update file (the one below in the image) -
Less time to download but came back with the same error.
So in short I am unable to download this update... I am getting the same error message "Invalid Checksum" when I use either the AppStore or the main Apple software update page on the web..
Anyone suggest anything? I have tried to download this a couple of times now and am getting the same results.
Appreciate any help or advise.

Interesting. I went to apple.com and dragged the url to the dock. There is a clickable space created, which displays "Apple" when you hover over it. I can click on it successfully, as you say. And I can drag it off the dock as usual. But there is no icon!  I tried a couple of other websites -- same result!
A small bug, I guess.
This behavior persists in all my user accounts.
Can others confirm?

I have the same problem! I have my iMac and my PC connected via same router and same adsl modem. On the PC I can browse www.apple.com (actually, it takes half a minute to load the page, but it works); the iMac (both Safari and Firefox) is unable to load any page in the Apple official site.
On the iMac I'm able to load the Apple home page only if I digit directly the IP Address of www.apple.com site. Very strange. I'd appreciate any suggestion, thanks in advance.

  • Win 7 Pro updates to Internet Explorer 11 every web page has blank frames and radio buttons. Updates show only IE11.

This entry frame on your page has radio buttons, giving me some editing functions - Bold, Italic, Underline, Insert unordered List, Insert Ordered List, Insert Hyperlink, Remove Hyperlink, Insert HTML, etc... but
I cannot see them.  Ever since updating Internet Explorer to ver 11, there is no going back to IE8.  Your Tech forum monitors keep rehashing the same links that do not answer this snafu.  Your Monitors suggest that the web sites are not running
because they are not compatible with the newer versions of Internet Explorer - well, even Microsoft's websites?  When you create a new web interface, why would your coding team make it incompatible with your own company's sites?
The Monitors suggest our cards can't handle GPU and we should turn to software rendering.  My card is a GeForce GTX 50 TI and has, according to the manufacturer web site: "Microsoft®  DirectX® 11 Support
DirectX 11 GPU with  Shader Model 5.0 support designed for ultra high performance in the new API’s  key graphics feature, GPU-accelerated tessellation."
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE and Microsoft must realize no customer wants to have the technical side string them along with pointless and futile misdirection to a garble of automatic chat responses that offer incomplete and unrelated fixes
and then expect to gain points in the voting buttons that "this fixed my problem".
Microsoft: you are ignoring compatibility problems with your coding and pretending it is arises from hardware incompatibility or user stupidity.  Your code should be running seamlessly, should accommodate existing technologies, and be flexible enough
to accept limitations of older hardware, older websites, and your monitors should march into Microsoft's development offices and demand answers ---- and fixes.  Has Microsoft gone into hiding when the latest technology show-piece isn't working for the
rest of the world?  We do not exist in a research bubble.  We are here in the real world, with aging equipment and tight budgets, and we expect better from Microsoft.

    Hi ohernova,
Sorry for the annoying issue you encountered and our develop team are trying our best to improve the performance of MS products, As I know, IE 11 was published after many technical tests, thus I suspect that it might be an individual case. I used to run
IE 11 in my win7, and it works perfectly,
Here’re some test you may take into consideration:
Make sure that you’ve installed all latest updates.
Since your Monitors keeps suggesting that the web sites are not running because it’s a compatibility issue, I suggest you add one site to the compatibility view list for a test, (if you can find the settings in Tools>Compatibility view settings)
Or click Win+F12, launch the F12 developer tool, click the last option, change the user agent string and document string to “10”, check whether the page can revert to normal.
    Regards

  • Updating links on erstwhile Sun Microsystems web pages

For example, the JMF home page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/tech/index-jsp-140239.html
    Has a "forums" link to
    http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jsp?forum=28
which needs to be updated to
    Java Media Framework
    Some (all?) link addresses on
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/index-135148.html
have been updated, but the link text still refers to the java.sun.com domain. Quite confusing, that.
I'm sure there are many others like that.

Links degrade over time. They must never be depended upon, even internal to a system. This is unlike a proper database, where referential integrity is considered important. Your mission, should you decide to accept, is to deal with it. If any of your IM posting force is caught or killed, the DBA will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Your browser will self-destuct in 5 seconds. Good luck Kleo.

  • Using 6.0.2 just updated, Firefox has stopped responding to web page calls from other programs such as Thunderbird. How can I fix this?

running Windows 7, Firefox 6.0.2 and Thunderbird 3.0.2

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

  • Apple web site question

I couldn't find an appropriate place to ask this so here goes. Does anyone know why apple's search engine is totally useless? 99% of the time it give me product/marketing results, is it only designed for that? The results usually have NOTHING to do what I searched for.
    Thanks

Does anyone know why apple's search engine is totally useless?
I don't find it "totally useless". But you need to know where you're searching and for what sort of topic.
99% of the time it give me product/marketing results, is it only designed for that?
If you've been using the general search on Apple's main web pages, yes, that's going to primarily turn up product information. If you are looking for support information, click on the Support tab at the top of any Apple web page and use the "Search Support" field. That is designed to provide support information. Though even that search it's always completely effective. Many people use Google's search engine and just specify Apple's support section as the site, e.g.:
    site:support.apple.com <your search query here>

  • Contribute will not edit web page after installing Security Update 2007-004

I have been unable to edit my web site with Contribute 3.11 after I installed the 2007-004 Security update. When I select the web page to edit the spinning beach ball appears and if I look in top it shows Contribute using 100% of the system. I have to do a force quit on it to be able to do anything.
Has anyone else noticed a problem with this or have a possible solution? Thank you.

  • Embedding a web page in a slide

    Hi,
Maybe I am completely wrong, but I think it is possible to embed, to display a web page in a slide. For instance, suppose I want to display a graph of Apple's stock in my presentation, the info would be always updated since I would display a web page from Bloomberg for example.
    Is that possible?

Here is a work-around for using web views:
If you have an existing document with a web view in it, you can open that document in Keynote '09, and the web view will still work. You can then copy and paste that web view onto other slides and other presentations, then change the URL from the inspector.
Looks the the web view functionality is all still there in Keynote '09, it's just that the way to add it has been removed. Mostly likely due to the fact that web view has its problems. Like for instance, it won't render the new MobileMe web site at www.me.com. They probably felt it was better to delist the feature than for us to have a bad experience with it. At least that's my guess.
