OS X 10.6.8 - Mountain lion will not download. Error: "We could not complete your purchase."

I am currently running OS X 10.6.8 on an iMac (model identifier iMac11,1). I have purchased Mountain Lion so that we can run Adobe CC. I have been advised that Mavericks is not compatible with our proxy server.
When attempting download from the Mac app store I receive this error:
"We could not complete your purchase. The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
The following is shown in console when attempting to download:
28/11/13 10:07:24 AM App Store[1824] *** Assertion failure in -[ISDistributionManager verifyDistributionAtURL:allowsDevSign:error:distributionController:], /SourceCache/Pisa/Pisa-60.8/Source/ISDistributionManager.m:146
Please help! I have read many discussions and there doesn't seem to be a fix for this as yet. Any ideas?

I tried to go the partition route, but for some reason the operation failed.
I decided to attempt a Lion install again afterwards anyway, but once again it failed, but now my whole system was hosed and could not revert back to Snow Leopard.
I did a restore from time machine. Once that completed, I attempted to install Lion again, and ta da! it works now.
What a pain.

Trying to download Mountain Lion from App Store. It tells me that program size it's only 53.25 MB. When download completes (partially) tells me that download can´t be verified... Please give me a hint. Thanks

I encountered the same error "…can't be verified…" on my 2010 MBP too. Tried six times and finally I could get it installed. Here's what I did:
Went to "Users & Groups" in System Preferences, checked that the Apple ID specified for the current user is the same Apple ID I used in the download purchase of ML from the App Store.
Rebooted in Safe Mode.
Went to Disk Utility -> Repair Disk Permissions
Downloaded ML at midnight (and the download was significantly faster!)
Rebooted in Normal Mode.
Ran the ML Installer.

ITunes will not install, error message "could not access network location"

I just got a new iPod Classic for Christmas but I have an older Mac so I was going to use an extra PC that we have laying around the house but every time I try to install iTunes, I get this Error:
Could not access network location \\S090100\d$\Data.Backup\C09010009-FDR\My Documents\My Pictures\.
It does not have Error 1606 anywhere on it and it asks me if I want to Retry or Cancel. I have tried EVERYTHING, please help!!

Your MBP is supposed to be using PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz ram. Macs are extremely sensitive to their memory and repeatedly have problems with ram that is not exactly in spec. Using ram rated at a higher speed will not run faster, and in fact will not boot in most cases.
You need to send the memory back and get the correct ram for that machine, check the Mac specialists such as OWC and Crucial for memory that is guaranteed to work.

Please do not post the entire messages log as it takes up unnecessarily a lot of space. It seems that there is a corrupt/nonfunctional file called

Go to your hard drive, enter library, go into users, and go into launch agents and delete the thing above. Empty the trash and restart.

Yes. You download Mountain Lion from the App Store and, once the download is complete, the installation of Mountain Lion will begin. You can quit it at this point and backup the "Install OS Mountain Lion.app" (which I suggest) the double-click it and begin the installation.
All remnants of Lion will be gone and you'll be running Mountain Lion.

I moved all my galleries to ZangZing.
There is no reason to think galleries has any connection to the OS version. It would require expansion of features in iCloud and the OS X version of iPhoto.

I have this problem also. I was able to download Mountain Lion to my daughter's Mac Mini without any trouble. However, I can't download this to my MacBook Pro. I have read other sites that suggest VirusBarrier is the problem and recommend turning it off in VirusBarrier>Preferences>Advanced. Mountain lion will not download thru the apps store. It has been purchased and redeemed. I have set my energy settings appropriately so computer will not turn off during download as Verizon offers a connection that is very slow. Ask anyone around here, and they will tell you quite differently. AV software will slow down your computer, can be incompatible with software you use, can cause kernel panics and other problems. It is unnecessay since OS X has it's own protection built-in. AV software can no more tell the difference between safe and unsafe sites on your browser than could an elephant.

The 64-bit kernel thing will leave a lot of use behind. My main machine is a 2006 Mac Pro on which I've spent some money putting in two 4-core CPUs and an ATI 5770 GPU in the past year. If I want to run ML I can't do so. The only options I have for a desktop Mac is either a newer Mac Pro model - post 2007 - used or refurbed or a recent or new iMac. This assumes the Mac Pro line may be dropped. Apple has been very mum on that.
Clearly, Apple wants to get users of older hardware to buy new machines in order to run ML now and in the future. Because it is possible to boot the older models with the 64-bit kernel via some hacking, Apple might have been able to install ML on them by adding some code and retaining 32-bit drivers where needed, but they've chosen not to take that route. I think it's a bit of a marketing ploy to help drive up sales of new Macs, but I appreciate that Apple has chosen to abandon legacy support in the past in order to avoid having an OS like Windows - bloated by support for older and older hardware.

Since you posted to the 10.3 forum, it is advisable that you realize that Lion is not available for a machine able to run 10.3.9 or earlier. It is unlikely that Mountain Lion will be either. Only Core2Duo and better Intel Macs can run Lion. It is unknown at the present time if Mountain Lion will be compatible with them, and may not be known until more features are released, or even till the actual release, as was the case with Lion. I am using version 3. I have used the apple/settings on my mac. The headset is appearing there and it is selected there. In the Rosetta Stone select/find window nothing shows up. It is blank. But the volume bars react when I speak and sliding the fader has the expected effect of raising and lowering the input. There is just no device showing up as the selected input device in the Rosetta Stone software.
I have done everything my Mac instructions say to uninstall and reinstall the Rosetta Stone software properly.
I'm guessing the problem may be in the licensing. I installed it first on the old hard drive that crashed. Maybe that used the terms of the license and now installing it in the new hard drive violates the license somehow. So that's why it will not work properly. It allows me to open the lessons and asks me if I want to continue from where I left off. I click continue. Then it asks me if I want to register the software. I click the tab for already registered software and click continue. Then nothing happens. So again I click on the button that indicates I want to continue lessons from where I left off. The same process happens with it asking me if I want to register the software. And it will not proceed through a lesson.
