OS X 10.9.1 & Garmin Communicator

Looks like I previously had Garmin Communicator on my MacBook Air.
"To continue, you must update your Garmin Communicator Plugin from version 4.0.4.0 to version 4.1.0.0."
However when trying to install version 4.1.0.0, I can download the file, load up the installation program, agree to licence, enter my password, etc. as normal.
However when it comes to installation it seems to fail as soon as it wants to start moving files,  then comes up with an installation failed message.
Any idea how to resolve this?
The other Garmin Communicator plug-in issues on the forum seem to indicate that people at least got passed the installation stage!

Shoot. I am having the same problem with disappearing mailboxes.  It's too bad this did not solve my problem.

  • Garmin Communicator Plugin

I have just Downloaded 'Garmin Communicator Plugin' so that I can down load new mapping software etc for my Sat Nav. I have Installed the software and got a window saying 'Installation Successful' but then I get a window saying that the software cannot be located on my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

The good news is that Garmin has released a new version of their plug-in.
    http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3739
Communicator Plugin for Mac software version 2.7.3
    as of June 15, 2009
    System Requirements:
Intel-based or PowerPC G4 or later Mac
    OS 10.4.11 or later
    Firefox 2.0+ or Safari 2.0+
The bad news is, it still doesn't work in Safari 4.
As before, Help > Installed Plug-ins shows it as installed, but the test page says it is "NOT detected."
As before, it still works in Firefox.
Another interesting tidbit: something strange happens to Safari's JavaScript support whenever I go to the Garmin test page. I haven't thoroughly investigated it yet, but certain JavaScript methods stop working--in all windows--until Safari is restarted.

  • Garmin GPS - Communicator Plugin

Garmin requires the plug-in to register (and download software upgrades into) the GPS.
Through Garmin's site, I downloaded the plug-in and got an "Install Completed Successfully" msg.
In Safari, I click on Help>Installed Plug-ins, and it shows that "Garmin communicator Plug-in v. 2.8.3.0, is installed.
When I try to register the GPS, I get a msg that says, "communicator plug-in NOT detected".
I've tried searching for an .exe kind of file thinking the program needed to be "started up", but I'm not able to find anything.
Any help for an analog brain in a digital world appreciated.

Problem resolved. I found out that I had an old version of Flip4Mac. I updated to the latest version and all is well.

Hello Frank1234, it seems (in your system details) that you have 2 versions of plugin installed, any luck if you disable the older "Garmin Communicator Plug-in Version 4.1.0.0", keep only the latest "Garmin Communicator Plug-in Version 4.2.0.0" ?
    thank you

  • HT2477 how can I connect a Garmin GPS etrex vista hcx to macbook pro with retina.

I would like to know if is it possible to connect my GPS Garmin etrex vista hcx to my macbook pro with retina.
    Thanks.

I believe that Garmin GPSr model uses a USB connection, so if you load the Garmin drivers, and possibly the [free] Garmin Base Camp utility, you should be able to connect your GPSr to your macbook Pro and transfer information.  I don't recall positively, but I think that your GPSr should appear as a USB drive automatically once you connect it, but it might require you to load the Garmin Communicator software.

  • Communicator Plugin Stopped being recognised

    Hi all
The Garmin Communicator plugin has been working fine on Safari up til now but it just suddenly stopped being recognised on Safari.
    It can be tested here:
    http://www8.garmin.com/products/communicator/test/
It is recognised on Firefox and Camino.
It's working in Safari on my wife's laptop.
We're both using Safari 4.0.2 but the problem started while using 4.0.1 (it did work under that version previously)
I've reinstalled the plugin and still same problem.
If I open a new user account the problem persists there also.
    I've repaired permisssions too.
I'd love some advice as i'm bewildered
    Thanks in advance
    M

    No luck
    Deleted:
    ~/library/safari
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist
    /library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist
    and no joy
Any idea where the plugins are located and where they are referenced by safari?
The plugin itself is clearly ok as: works on my wife's machine (same setup) and works under firefox and camino on mine.
So it's a system level safari issue i think...
    Help...!
    M.

  • Plug in for Garmin GPS system is not compatible with FireFox 5.0?

''locking as a duplicate of this - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/851653''
I have updated FireFox plugins today. I have cleared download history. I have set up folder for downloads. Every time I go to Garmin and try to download to get current map updates a message comes up "Garmin Communicator could not be installed because it is not compatible with FireFox 5.0?

  • Garmin GPS not compatible with Firefox - any hope in the future?

Hi there, I've just bought a new Garmin GPS for car. To start it up you need to register the unit. To register the unit you have to download their plug in. When I try to I get a message to say that it isn't compatible with Firefox 5. I'd rather not change from Firefox, so I'm just wondering if it will be compatible in the near future? It appears to have been compatible with Firefox 3.6+ - so perhaps you could tell me how to revert to that if possible for now? Thank you, Eva

Compatibility of the Garmin Communicator Plugin is up to Garmin. Look for an updated version of that Plugin at the Garmin web site.

  • Purchased new garmin gps and they require downloading there program and it is incompatible with firefox. what now?

I need to register new garmin gps and after downloading garmin registration program and allow me to update gps, firefox box appears stating download is not compatible with Garmin Communicator plug in.

See the Garmin website for an updated version of their Plugin, one that is compatible with Firefox 5.
