OS X Server 4.0 Calendar Service only available on local network

I have a mac mini (late 2014) running yosemite 10.10.1 and installed OS X Server 4.  I set the server up to run over the internet using a domain name that points to my external ip address.
I have the DNS, users, groups, and open directory configured and started setting up the services.  File sharing, Contacts and Calendar all worked great until I tried to set up Messages. I had a problem getting my accounts set up on the client machines. However, the real issue is that the services that worked great had the access status changed from available over the internet at "my.domain" to available on local server.
I have tried many things and I have all the services except one as showing as reachable or available over the internet.  Calendar shows as available on your local network, which is not what I want. How can some services be available over the internet and one other not?
In addition the services that are running, randomly change status between only available locally and available over the internet without changing anything in there server app.

jepping,
thanks for the reply.  Here is the screen shot you asked for....
This is exactly the same as when all my services worked fine.  I tried adding calendar from this section but if I select 'all users' and 'all networks' the 'OK' button is greyed out. So I restricted the users to those in a group of mine.  This is the screen shot now.
I went to the calendar service to turn it off then on and the access service is still 'available on your local network at server.local
Thanks.

  • OS X Server 4.0.3 Websites only available on local network

All of the Services to include the "Websites" were running fine until the hard drive crashed on my Mac Mini. After replacing the hard drive (from apple store) I was able to use a Time Machine backup to install my Server Settings. For the most part I was able to get most of the services up and running, except the Websites service. Websites service is only available on my local network (.local). I've reset my SSL certs, have changed the host name many times, used terminal to reset the Website service, deleted and recreated the DNS without success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, allowing all networks. something I just discovered is that none of the services that require an SSL certificate will accept the self signed certificate. When I select the certificate the "Secure services using:" will default to Custom configuration. I have also tried to assign the certificate by selecting custom configuration and manually assign it, but when I close out, the server removes my setting and defaults to Custom Configuration. I think if I can solve this problem the Web service should be able to work outside my local network.

  • Websites only available on .local

yosemite 10.10 os x server 4...my websites are only available on .local address. computer and dans is setup to public domain name...any reasons?

Select the server by name in the sidebar of the Server application window, then select the Overview tab. Click the Edit button on the Host Name line. On the Accessing your Server sheet, Domain Name should be selected. Change the Host Name, if necessary. The server must have at least a three-level name (e.g. "server.yourdomain.com"), and the name must not be in the ".local" top-level domain, which is reserved for Bonjour.

  • Could Calendar services not available after reboot be LDAP problem?

    I followed this installation guide:
    https://wikis.oracle.com/display/CommSuite7U2/Communications+Suite+on+a+Single+Host+%28Linux%29#CommunicationsSuiteonaSingleHost%28Linux%29-InstallingCommunicationsSuite7Update2Software
I have successfully installed and set up the Oracle UCS Sun7 update 2 server. Calendar works ( if I don't reboot the server ).
However, when I reboot the server, Calendar service is unavailable.
Important information for when I installed Oracle UCS sun 7 update 2 by following the installation guide:
I have noticed when browsing through the folders, that there was already a 'dsee6' folder for the Oracle Linux I started from. Following the example installation for the Oracle Linux 5 with GlassFish install, I was instructed to download a new Directory Server. Following the instructions on page 7 of the install guide listed above, I made another folder 'dsee7'. I am wondering if I should never have downloaded this new Directory Server as instructed on page 6 "Get the Software". The install guide actually does not mention where to get the Directory Server from, so I just went to the edelivery site and figured it out myself. Anyways, under the "Installing and Configuring Directory Server" section, #3, I was instructed to "mv dsee7 /opt/sun/directory". In this folder, /opt/sun/directory/bin, there will be "./dsadmin" utility that can be ran. This is used to do many things with the Directory Server including starting it. Here is how I started it:
    cd /opt/sun/directory/bin
    ./dsadm create /var/opt/sun/directory/dsins1
    ./dsconf create-suffix "0=isp"
Also, I downloaded the Directory Server from edelivery - Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition 11gR1 Patch Set 1 for Linux x86-64
Then, I ended up running to get it set up:
    ./dsccsetup ads-create
    ./dsccsetup war-file-create
    $ ./dsccsetup cacao-reg
    ./dsccsetup status
Then, it looked like the dcss agent is registered in cacao.
So, if we forward ahead to page 9 of the install guide, "Preparing the Directory", I ran this and prepared the directory. After I finished installation, I could restart the Directory Server with no problems, as long as I did not reboot the machine. I would restart the Directory Server like so:
    cd /opt/sun/directory/bin
    ./dsadmin stop-domain domain1
    ./dsadmin start-domain domain1
However, if I rebooted the machine, I could still start and stop the Directory Server as noted. But, the Calendar Services were not available.
The only reason I wonder about this LDAP Server possibly being the cause of this is because I had at one point configured the services to start on boot. I followed these instructions:
    https://wikis.oracle.com/display/CommSuite7U2/Start+and+Stop+Scripts+for+Communications+Suite+%28Linux%29
I am using a VMSphere client to host this set up. So, since that point of configuring the services to start up, I have rolled the snap shot back so that the services are no longer set up to start on boot. But, when they were, and I rebooted the machine, I could see ldap 389 errors all over the place. So, that lead me to roll my snap shot back in effort to try and fix the ldap errors. I no longer get LDAP errors since I rolled my snap shot back. But, like I said, I no longer have any of the services, including the LDAP, to start on boot as noted in the above link that instructs us how to do this.
After reboot, I run these commands to get the server up and running:
    Start GlassFish server:
    cd /opt/sun/SUNWappserver/bin
    ./startserv
Start web ( Messaging Server I think ):
    cd /opt/sun/comms/messaging64/bin
    ./start-msg
Start LDAP ( Directory Server )
    cd /opt/sun/directory/bin
    ./dsadm start /var/opt/sun/directory/dsins1
    Start Mysql
    cd/etc/init.d
    ./mysqld start
All of those commands complete without problem. I can log into the convergence web, I can hit the delegated administrator, I can log into the GlassFish admin console, and I can see my calendar folder when I hit it in the web ( http://myServer.com/davserver/dav/home/userName/calendar/ ).
So, in summary, I am wondering if anyone knows if this supposed second Directory Server is causing my problems since I started with Oracle Linux 5 and Oracle Linux 5 appeared to have the folder dsee6 already installed with it. Could this be why my calendar services are not starting after reboot but are working before reboot?
( Also, all of my posts keep getting deleted. Can someone please email me if someone from Oracle is deleting my posts and tell me why they are getting deleted? )

  • CIMC on C210 server throws Error 2001: Service not available message

I am trying to configure vmware on a brand new C210 server for the first time and the directions say to access the CIMC and load the vmware media. Sounds easy enough except every time I go to the CIMC webpage I recieve an " error 2001: Service not available"  message on every page I go to and none of the server info fields are populated. If I try to make any changes and save my settings the same message pops up and no changes are saved. Almost like the CIMC doesn't recognize the server or hardware. I ran the host update utility just now and upgraded the firmware for everything to the latest version but still no progress. Anyone have this happen or know how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Jess

I got it working on one of the servers, and havent tried the same solutions on any other server.
What i did was manually adding an IP adress to the management IP, then save the config before rebooting. After rebooting i put it back to get IP from DHCP, and saved the config. After a secound reboot i was able to use the mangement interface without the 2001 error.
I'm not sure if it will work on the rest of the servers, but it's worth a try

  • Mail service doesn't authorizes local network accounts

    Hi,
i am new to OS X Server, to i am still playing with a test server before i will move it to production:
    1. what i have:
Mac Mini with clean Mavericks install and clean Server 3 installed.
It has real IP and FQDN.
services launched via Server App: DNS,DHCP,LDAP,Mail.
I have one local user (admin)
and created one local network user.
The problem i that from mavericks client i can authorize to IMAP server only using local user name and when i try local network user - that doesnt work.
    What am i doing wrong?

The fact you are using a 46.xxx.xxx.xxx address means that your server has a public IP address. This is of course not illegal but perhaps unusual. More commonly the server would be on your internal network and you might setup your firewall to forward necessary ports to it.
A possible consequence of having a public IP address is that another DNS server might be in charge of your domain, e.g. your ISP. Your ISP would then have to define both the hostname and equally importantly the reverse DNS record. It is possible to run the master DNS server for an official domain name yourself but this is usually only done by enterprise level businesses, SME size organisations would leave this to the ISP.
If our ISP is running the domain then either you need to get the to add all the necessary records including the correct reverse DNS records, or you will have to duplicate every record i.e. hostname yourself and ensure you don't make any mistakes. The Mac software will automatically setup the reverse DNS records.
Your server then needs to use the correct DNS server and so do your clients.
Try testing either in Terminal.app or using Network Utility doing forward and reverse DNS lookups. This might be easier in Terminal as explained below. Do this on the server itself.
In Terminal type nslookup serverhostname.domain.ru 127.0.0.1 (This will do a forward lookup using the servers own DNS server, it should return the IP address of your server i.e. 46.xxx.xxx.xxx)
In Terminal type nslookup 46.xxx.xxx.xxx 127.0.0.1 (This should do a reverse DNS lookup and return your server FQDN)
In Terminal type nslookup serverhostname.domain.ru 8.8.8.8 (This will ask Google to do a forward lookup and return your server IP address of 46.xxx.xxx.xxx)
In Terminal type nslookup 46.xxx.xxx.xxx 8.8.8.8 (This will ask Google to do a reverse DNS lookup and should return your server FQDN)
The above will help show if the rest of the world is using a different DNS server with different settings for your domain. It will also show what your own DNS server is doing. Usually you will have your server configured to use itself as the DNS server and this is usually done by entering the address of 127.0.0.1 in network settings.

  • Clean install of ML Server, migrating/retaining selected services only.

    All,
I need some help and advice.
I have been using OS X Server for a few years, from Snow Leopard to Lion and now to Mountain Lion.
But the server is now not very stable. Over the years, I have tried different patches, etc, so it is hard to know what is still right for the system or not. The server will now stop after a few hours, it just hangs. I suspect it is overheating sometimes, when service won't start properly and eats up all CPU, etc. So I want to do a manual rebuild, to have a clean installation of ML Server, then copy the essential settings only for the few services we use. But I am unable to find any clear documentation on how to do that. I can't even find the option to backup and restore Open Directory anymore. Can someone advice me on what I should do?
I am not a full time administrator, and use Mac Mini Server for a small group of 15 users or so.
We mainly use it for Mobile Profiles and Wiki. As it is only 15 users, setting DNS again is not a big issue. But I want to be able to maintain all the 15 usernames and passwords, mobile profiles and the same access for each user to their wiki/blog.
So basically, I need to find ways of backing up Open Directory and Wiki. And be able to restore them on the clean build of Mountain Lion Server.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Installed SQL Reporting Services 2012 on SharePoint 2013 Server. SQL Reporting Service not available In the list of runnning services or new service applications

Hi I'm trying to setup SQL reporting services in a SharePoint 2013 farm consisting of:
    4 WFE's
4 App Servers (NLB Central Admin x 4 servers)
4 App Severs for SSRS (Light limited SharePoint services running)
I've installed SSRS 2012 SP1 by following the guide (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492276.aspx) on one of the SSRS SharePoint 2013 servers and ensuring Reporting Services - SharePoint and Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products is selected.
All completed without errors and I have even upgraded to SP2 for troubleshooting but no joy.
I've then gone into SharePoint Central Admin and I cannot see SQL Reporting Service available In the list of runnning services on the server I have just installed SSRS on and going to manage service applications I cannot see in the new dropdown menu SQL
    Reporting Services.
I have ran the following commands in the SHarePoint management shell:
    Install-SPRSService and Install-SPRSSeviceProxy
    and
    get-spserviceinstance -all |where {$_.TypeName -like "SQL Server Reporting*"} | Start-SPServiceInstance
The reply was that the service was already online on the server.
So in powershell all seems ok but it does not appear in central administration.
I have also moved Central Administration to the SSRS SharePoint server too.
Any other suggestions? Here is the same problem but in SP2010 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6a21cc05-1f9b-49ad-a9bb-44aa5b3ce312/action?threadDisplayName=after-installing-sql-reporting-services-service-for-sharepoint-2012-service-is-not-in-the-list-of)
In my lab environment of a 4 server SP2013 farm it worked immediately when i installed it on the app server (CA host) so I dont think it is my install strategy.
I guess my next attempt is to install SSRS on an app server with central administration hosted.
    Thanks

I had the same issue on 2 different environments.
I had 2 application servers. One had Central Administration. I installed SSRS on the other one and it never appeared in the Service Applications in SharePoint.
When I also provisioned Central Administration on the other application server and went to the service applications using Central Admin on that server, the SSRS service application was there.
Since then I always install SSRS on the server which hosts Central Admin. No issues then.

  • Server Admin says Web service Not Available

The service status indicator is dark grey (not the dimmed grey of a service being off), and even the Settings view switch button is not showing.
However, Apache is running and serving just fine.
I had someone install Tomcat 5.0.28 today (using port :8080), and I really think that's related as the problem wasn't present until after this. This person unfortunately removed the built-in Tomcat and installed Tomcat 5 in its place (which we'll move tomorrow), but I'm wondering if there's some config settings or something that could be causing a conflict?
Or, maybe there's another reason altogether. What would make Server Admin think Apache is not even available, when in fact it is actually running just fine.
    Thx for any ideas...

    Hey Kristich,
Is the server that you have created behind some NAT, etc?
If you are using an IP of the form 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x then these are private IPv4 address spaces and not public IPs(which is unique), and you wont be able access them from outside.

  • How can I publish an ics file to a remote server from my calendar server?

I am running Lion Server and have Calendar Service up and running. I have an account with a couple of calendars, one of which I'd like to publish to a remote server, as an .ics file.
From an iCal client it is possible to publish local calendars, but not remote calendars (for which the only option seems to be to 'Share').
How can I can I publish an ics file to a remote server? Programatically, if necessary.

    I have this working now.
    curl -s --digest -u username:password -o calendar.ics http://hostname:8008/calendars/users/username/calendar/
generates the .ics file, and a combination of cadaver (from webdav.org) and an expect script upload hourly (via cron) to the remote server:
    set timeout 60
    spawn /usr/local/bin/cadaver
    expect "dav"
    send "open https://remotehost/path/\r"
expect "Do you wish to accept the certificate? (y/n)"
    send "y\r"
    expect "dav"
    send "put calendar.ics\r"
    expect "dav"
    send "close\r"
    expect "dav"

  • How can I disable restful service only ?On Apex Listener

    Hi,all:
For security reason,I want to disable restful data service in some of the apex listener server and enable application service only. How can I do that?

    Support give the solution:
The way to disable restful services is NOT to configure AL and RT connection pools in ORDS/Rest Data Services.(APEX Listener).
Remove or rename apex_rt.xml and apex_al.xml files available in the configuration directory ( conf ) used by those instances configured against ORDS / the APEX Listener.
This way ORDS / the APEX Listener will not be able to route REST requests to the database and will return 404 to the end user

  • If remote access is allowed on the server, Then can my users on the local network access this server by ie

    Dear all,
If my server is enabled for the remote desktop connection, then the users on the local network can access my server IIS services by entering the IP address of my server in the IE (http/https) on the local network only.
I went to control panel>>system>>Allow Remote desktop Connection>>with network level authentication.
Now If my team wants to access this server not by opening the Remote Desktop Connection, rather by entering the IP address of my server on the IE and access the resources offered.
Is it possible by this way,
Or is there any other method to do so.

    3. My web Developer is installing an application on the server for our department team. To test this application running, he wants to access this application through the local machine from browser (rather than logging in through the remote desktop connection).
    4. He wants this application to run on the local network only.
    5. He wants me to do some setup, that he must be able to enter the IP address of the server in the browsers address bar on his local machine and test the functionality of his application on the local network.
If this is the requirements of the developer, I guess he wants you to configure IIS.
You can do a test, whether IIS is working properly.
Log on to server, enter https://localhost or http://IP_address_of_the_server don't know whether some ports are configured in order for your IIS to work.
