Outlook 2003 Folders

I use Outlook on PC for managing a number of email accounts (NOT Gmail) 5 of which are also linked to my 8520. I do not have Outlook on the BB. The email accounts are directly linked.
In practice a new email arrives on the BB before it appears in Outlook (this is significant to the question I will ask). This is because Outlook fetches emails from the servers on a user defined interval.
One of the benefits of using Outlook, is the ability to create folders and to either manually or (as in my case) by setting a rule to move messages in to relevant folders. The rule can be defined by a range of variables such as sender, subject etc. The effect is that only messages without  such a role appear in the main Inbox in Outlook. A practical explanation of its importance is that I do accounts for a club. Outlook automatically puts all the relevant emails in te X club accounts folder thus saving me from sifting through 100's of emails and no doubt missing them.
So to the quetion. It appears to me that only emails that remain in the Outlook Inbox actually make it to the BB. Bearing in mind that the BB should receive them before Outlook fetches them from the server, why is this the case? Apart from destroying the folder set-up on Outlook, what can I do to receive these emails?

In which case, the behavior you initially described (some emails never arriving on the BB) should not be occurring at all. I would therefore suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will resolve it. If not, then you should check your BIS filters to see if anything is there that could be causing this behavior:
KB05095How to configure email message filters
Otherwise, you could try deleting and re-adding your BIS conduits for the affected email accounts.
Good luck!

  • Error Code 0x82bc1095 trying to map folders in Address Book synching with MS Outlook 2003 SP3t

Help please. My BB Curve 8900 OS v5 has suddenly stopped synchronising with my MS Outlook 2003 SP3. It gets as far as address book then stops, giving error message " One or more configured folders is not availablr. Update mapping field and try again". Configuring my organiser, when I click on a tab I get another message saying "No available Message stores". I click on OK and get the tabbed page opern but the mapping folders field is empty and greyed out.
If I click on Map Fields, I get another error message "Error encountered. Error code 0x82bc1095"
No synchronisation takes place at all.
I am far from technically minded, say about one step above being a Luddite. Can anyone please advise me?

Thanks for your suggestion, but things have moved since then. I tried swapping my mapisvc by changing the extension to 'old' and running the repair, but this did not recreate a mapisvc.inf file, so I changed the extension back to inf. I also uninstalled Outlook Connector as other threads have suggested.
However another thread suggested resetting the organiser using the reset settings button.  I did this, but the DTM will not now let me set up synchronisation with my Outlook. Outlook is shown as an option, along with Yahoo and ASCII.
It just lets me go through the process but does not produce a tick in the appropriate box at the end.
I did tell it to synch with Yahoo to see if it would take and it does, but when I try to change it to Outlook it does not register the change (leaving it as Yahoo). I have to select 'none' to clear the tick.
You can probably tell that I'm useless at this sort of thing and I'm getting very frustrated with the whole thing. I've had numerous problems ever since I upgraded the device software. I think that if I ever get this working again, I will not do anything else.
Hope you can help an old duffer and thanks again for your input.

  • How can I synch ONLY the default 'contacts' folder in Outlook 2003?

I am using Outlook 2003 SP3. In my 'contacts' menu I have 3 folders: 'Contacts', 'iPhone' and 'Old.' I created 'iPhone' and 'Old' folders and 'Contacts' was the default folder. When I synch my 3G iPhone with Outlook I want to synch ONLY the default 'contacts' folder. But I can't seem to do this. My options are to synch all folders or a selection of non-default folders (i.e., anything but 'Contacts.')
Does this make sense? I don't want to synch anything in the 'old' folder to my iphone. But I also don't want to move all of my current contacts to a special folder just so I can synch only these items.
So when I synch my iPhone I want it to limit the synching to only the default 'contacts' folder.
Is there a way to do this?

Open one of the folders that keeps changing. Set it to the view mode you prefer. Press Command-J (Show View Options in View menu).
At the top of the View Options screen is an item which allows one to set "Always open in xxx view". Chekmark that.
Repeat for each folder you want.
This is a per-folder setting. Note that the View Options screen is 'live" - you can leave it open, and as you open successive folders it will display the settings for each in turn.

  • Oracle Connector 10.1.3.0.6/Outlook 2003 useability bugs

We have been attempting to roll out the Connector 10.1.3.0.6 to our 400+ user base over the last couple of months. However, we seem to be plagued by a number of usability bugs that make maintaining the system extremely difficult.
Looking over the postings in the discussion groups and searching metalink I find it hard to believe that others have come across similar issues and are quietly accepting them.
Can anyone give me feedback as to weather you have similar issues? If you are not having similar issues can you let me know your environment so I can try and figure out what we have different.
We are attempting to use the Connector version 10.1.3.0.6 with Outlook 2003. The issues we seem to come across most often are:
    1. A mail folder gets corrupt so that when you click on a message the body of a different message is displayed. This can also manifest itself as attachments being mixed up in messages. Opening an attachment in a message opens another attachment. The e-mail on the server is fine so resetting the folder to force it to re-download the message fixes the corruption.
    2. Sometimes Outlook can not open some messages or attachments and gives the error that the object can't be found. The only fix we have for that is to run Outlook Detect and Repair and have it reset the registry. Once that is done the message or attachment can be read. However, typically this will happen again to the same user.
    3. The calendar form disappears and cannot be reinstalled. This also seems to happen to the same users over and over again. Typically, they will go to create a calendar entry and get the message that the calendar form is not available. Sometimes the form can be re-installed but sometimes it cannot be. If the form is not able to be re-installed then the only option is the Outlook Detect and Repair. After Detect and Repair is done the form is able to be re-installed.
    4. Automatic return receipts sometimes get stuck in the Outbox and prevent any other messages from being sent. When this happens the only option is to create a new profile and migrate the Calendar and Contacts from the blown profile.
    5. uuencoded attachments can't be read. We sometimes get e-mail messages with uuencoded attachments instead of MIME encoded attachments. The Oracle connector can not read these attachments. However, Outlook without the connector has no problem with them. This issue has been confirmed with Oracle but as of yet has not been given a resolution date.
    6. Folders in Outlook will disappear. Users will open up Outlook only to find that some of their folders are missing. The folders are indeed on the server, but Outlook has decided that they are unsubscribed to them. Re-subscribing the user to the folder causes them to come back.
    7. Finally sometimes folders in Outlook will appear in different places than they are on the server. The folder mapping from Outlook to the server sometimes gets corrupt so that Outlook is not able to access folders. For example in Outlook a sub folder may appear to be in 'Folder-A -> Sub-folder-A' while on the server the sub folder is actually in 'Folder-B -> Sub-folder-A'. When this happens the user is not able to use Sub-folder-A since the server is not able to locate it in the location Outlook is asking for. Again recreating the profile and starting from scratch fixes the Outlook issue.
Now I am not saying that the Connector is busted. Instead, I am puzzled as to why we seem to be having such a different experience from the rest of the community. I find it hard to believe that these issues would be accepted or covered up were they pervasive.
I am quickly running out of time to get this working and am under increasing pressure to give in to Exchange. So please let me know if I am not alone in these problems or if I am simply an idiot who has forgotten to do some simple configuration or maintenance.

We have seen similar issues (mostly calendar and slow performance) as we tried to roll to about 800 users. We've been forced to start recommending the Oracle Desktop Calendar Client instead of OCFO to our users. We still offer OCFO, but only as a convenience. We advise our users that if they want the most reliable and accurate calendar information, they need to use the desktop client.

  • MS-Outlook 2003 can't see messages in folder restored with imsrestore

Hello. We're using IMS 5.2 under HP/UX. When I restore messages into a new folder with the imsrestore -n command, MS-Outlook sees the folder but it appears empty. It also cannot rename or delete the folder. Outlook says to check the folder permissions. Eudora 5.1 can see the messages, and delete the folder.
I'm using this command because I want to restore message into a new folder so users will be able to easily see what's been restored. I haven't found any reference to this problem from Microsoft or other IMS users. Any ideas?
Here is the imsrestore command that I used:
    imsrestore -f {backup file for single user} -n
    Tape Version : 2
    Backup Date : Thu, 13 Apr 2006 11:28:29
    Incremental : Wed, 12 Apr 2006 01:00:00
    Message Store : mymail
    Block factor : 20
    /mymail/ALL/dpelinka restoring...
    /mymail/ALL/dpelinka/INBOX-> /mymail/ALL/dpelinka/INBOX.041306.152824 restoring...
    /mymail/ALL/dpelinka/INBOX/22455 restoring...
    /

I looked at this problem again today. The command imsrestore -f ${RSTDIR}/${file} -n is successful and creates a new mailbox with a name like: Inbox.042706.162202. The folder and restored messages are visible with our Luminis portal web client, and with Eudora. Outlook 2003 can see the folder but not the messages. If I try to delete the folder with Outlook, it says "unable to delete folder...the server responded 'mailbox does not exist'". This leads me to think there could be some kind of permission problem.
Looking at the mailbox on the server I see this:
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 14 21:43 =+Archive
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 14 23:10 =+Deleted
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 96 Feb 17 19:58 =+Drafts
    drwx------ 3 lumadmin staff 96 Apr 27 16:38 =+I+N+B+O+X%d042706%d162202

    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 14 21:43 =+Personal
    drwx------ 3 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 17 07:29 =+Sent
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 96 Dec 9 2004 =+Trash
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 7080008 Apr 27 16:31 store.idx
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 201 Apr 27 16:38 store.sub
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 59 Apr 27 16:38 store.usr
Inside the restored folder I see this:
    drwx------ 2 lumadmin staff 1024 Apr 27 16:22 00
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 24116 Apr 27 16:25 store.idx
    -rw------- 1 lumadmin staff 36 Apr 27 16:38 store.usr
The permssions on the files in the restored folder look the same as the other folders. I tried reconstruct -f user/dpelinka/INBOX, but it made no difference. This could be a problem with the IMAP implementation in Outlook. Can you think of any other things I should check? Thanks.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2003 XP to Entourage 4 Mac email Conversion

Having migrated away from Office 2003 running on an XP to Office 4 running on my MacBook Pro, I need a way to copy my exiting PC based Outlook 2003 .pst folders to Entourage running on my Mac. What I've found on the web only works with previous Mac versions of Outlook, not PC versions.
Does anyone know of a Mac-based conversion utility that will convert Outlook 2003 .pst files on a PC to Entourage email files on the Mac? I have all of my PC files backed-up on disk, but the PC is gone. Now I need a way to read them on the Mac and convert them to Entourage.

I purchased and downloaded eMailchemy from WeirdKid Software and it worked great. It is a native Mac application that converted some 85,000 emails along with attachments and entire mailbox hierarchy intact from Outlook 2003 for Windows .pst format stored on my Mac into archive mail files for Entourage for Mac. This was exactly what I needed and well worth the $28.00 to get it done right the first time, even if I don't need the software anymore.
Just wanted to let you know in case someone else ran across a similar requirement.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2003 Inbox Repair

    Hi,
My hard Drive had became errors and partition became corruptted, after that I recovered some data with Microsoft Outlook 2003 Emailz backup or it is on approx 1GB but I am not able to import in new hard drive and new installed Microsoft Outlook 2003, I tried to take help from websites they suggested me to run scanpst.exe tool I run that tool after that I am able to import my pst file in Outlook 2003 but not able to see any message in inbox or any other directory of Outlook 2003 during importing my emailz backup kindly give me solution how can I import my emailz properly and they will show properly in inbox and other folders

Inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) repairs minor level of corruptions, but I think your PST got highly corrupted and you need a strong Outlook PST repair tool like QuickData Outlook PST Recovery to perform the recovery task. Once the PST file
gets repair you will be able to import it in a new window.

  • Vista & Outlook 2007: Sync with second XP & Outlook 2003 - The passed buffer is too small for the reply data

    Dear Community,
I'm synchronising my T3 with two PCs. One with Vista & Outlook 2007 and the other with XP & Outlook 2003. Both with the latest conduit & Hotsync Manager versions installed for each OS based on the availability on the Palm Website.
My problem is that when I synchronise the T3 with either PC and then try to sync it with the other I'm receiving the following error message for the Calendar:
    Outlook Calendar
The passed buffer is too small for the reply data.
    OLERR:0D-0008
    OLERR:0D-0004
    OLERR:0D-0001
    - Slow Sync
    Outlook Calendar synchronization failed
The second time the sync is successful but takes a long time and the actual problem is that it creates duplicates for records previously changed on either PC - but with a sync in between those changes, i.e. no conflict in the sense that the same record was changed in both environments since the last sync. I have configured the conflict handling to establish a hierarchy PC1-T3-PC2 but try to avoid them by synchronising as often as possible.
Has anyone come across that problem or any ideas? Can you somehow adjust the buffer size for the sync? I have been using Lotus Organiser & then the various Outlook versions for a number of years.
    Thank you

As they say on TV, "Doh"!!!
I figured out the problem. I started the Sync tool, selected "Settings", then "Mcrosoft Outlook" tab and then "Select Folders" button. I browsed to the proper folders in Outlook (Calendar, Tasks, etc). Select OK enough times and retried the sync.
    It worked.

  • Shared Calendar Outlook 2003

    Hi,
We're having the following problem using shared calendars.
    Outlook 2003 Ver 11.6560.6560 SP2
Oracle Connector for Outlook Ver R.10.1.1.0.5.71011
When i remove a shared calendar it is not possible to add this calendar again to my list and when i open this calendar it doesn't show the name of the owner. If you switch to email and back to calendar, the last mentioned calendar is gone.
The only remedy until now is a fresh install of Outlook and OCFO, create a new profile and start all over again. You have to make all your personal settings again and add all the shared calendars you had.
Can someone help me with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dennis Overbeek

    Hi Dennis,
We had the same problem in 10.1.1.05, and this is the fix we got on our SR. The bug was 4715596, and I think it had been fixed in 10.1.2. Hope this helps.
To re-add the user to the calendar list do the following:
    In Outlook's Folder List...
Expand the Oracle Shared Folder, Expand the removed user's folder, right click on the calendar icon for their calendar and select "Add to my calendars"
Or to properly remove the my calendar list
    In Outlook's Folder List...
Click on the Oracle Shared Folder
Click Tools, Shared Folders, Manage Folders
Select the user in question and click Remove
The next time you open other user's folder it will open correctly.

  • Copying Apple mail pop3 account to Outlook 2003

    Hello,
One of my client recently bought few PCs. They wasnt to use apple mails as well as the PCs. Is there a way to copy all POP 3 emails to Microsoft Outlook 2003. In apple mail, the users have four or five folders and within the folders they have subfolders.
Operating system Mac os X 10.4.9
    Model: iMAC G5

    Hello UK_STRANGER.
Selected messages can be exported in standard mbox format doing File > Save As in Mail and choosing Raw Message Source from the Format popup menu. Standard mbox files can be imported into most mail clients. In particular, they can be imported back into Mail doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Other as the data format.
Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts has an Archive Messages script that you may also find useful.

  • I can't import mails from Outlook 2003.

Importation (option in the Tools menu) crashes and generates an error notification. I have several folders in the inbox of my Outlook and archived old messages (in different pst files). Could it be the reason for the failure?

    Thank you very much.
I uninstalled Version 31, install version 24 and it works. I could import all the messages (several folders and different pst archives). I could not import email account configuration but it was not a big problem to configure de accounts manually in TB.
After all, I installed again version 31 and now I have all my emails in the last TunderBird version and all the add-ons working fine.
Now I can forget my Outlook 2003.
I am very grateful for the help you have given me.
It would be perfect if I found some way to sincronize my ThunderBird contacts with my contacts in the android smartphone.

Data should still be saved in a PST I think.
If you go into Tools | Email Accounts | Next (on view or change existing email accounts). Do you see a line that says something about "deliver new email to the following location"? Is that set to Personal Folders or something else?

  • Moving emails from Outlook 2003 to OWA

I'm switching to OWA from Outlook 2003.  Most of the emails I had saved could be deleted, but I have one folder that I need to migrate to OWA.  I've been trying to figure it out without any luck.  If someone could point me in the right direction
    I would sure appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
From your description, I'm not sure what is the purpose of doing that. Could you please explain it furthermore?
We can see all the folders of our mailbox both on Outlook and OWA. Generally, there is no need to save the emails manually on Outlook and then copy it to OWA.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.

  • Sync does not copy all contact data from Outlook 2003 to iPhone

I tried syncing my outlook 2003 to iphone. However the data information in outlook such as Work2 / Home2 / Fax 2 , E-mail 2 / etc; & other secondary numbers don't get copied on the iphone. Is there a patch or some other solution to fix this problem.
Also if we enter multiple home or office numbers in a contact in iphone how will outlook react to it.
    I am using itunes 7.6.1.

Well lots of writing on the web but i beleive i nailed the problem. Please spread the word further, the solution is (or actually the bug in Sync of iTunes :))
When iTunes developers select which contacts folder to synchronize they do not choose by what Outlook considers to be the main folder, what they do is they sort the list of folders alphabetically and then read the contacs from whichever folder comes first in that sorted list. So make sure that any other contact folder is named with a name that will be sorted out and go in the list after your main contact folder.
Mr. Jobs, i am actually happy to see apple doing this trivial childish mistakes, it means you are still mortal, i was starting to get frightened that apple is helped by mighty forces to us mortals still unknown
