Overnight my contact list went from 1492 contacts to 52.. With help from Apple support I retrieved all of my contacts. Here is the problem, I lost the groups. None of my contacts are sorted into groups as they used to be which is very important for me.
Overnight my contact list went from 1492 to 52. With help from Apple I retrieved the missing contacts using Time Machine. The problems is that the contacts are not in groups as they used to be. Any suggestions? I really need them grouped for business reasons.
Also, there are no longer pictures associated with each contact.
thanks for any help anyone can give me getting contacts back into the groups that I had established. By the way, the group names are still there, but they are all empty.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.

I restored a Macbook Pro from a Time Machine backup and now none of my passwords are working (and I know they are the correct passwords). What can I do?
First, make sure caps lock is not on.
Another reason why the password might not be recognized is that the keyboard layout (input source) has been switched without your realizing it. You can select one of the available layouts by choosing from the flag menu in the upper right corner, if it's showing, or cycle through them by pressing the key combination command-space or command-option-space. See also this support article.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password. In OS X 10.10 and later, this option also works with FileVault, but only if you enabled it when you activated FileVault. It's not retroactive. Otherwise, see below.
Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:

Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.

You should now be able to log in with the new password, but the Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as the login password), there's no way to recover it. -
I have an iMac, an iPhone, and a MacBook Pro. My full iTunes library is on the iMac and iPhone, but only a handful of songs are on my MacBook. They are all associated with the same Apple ID. When I try to sync, I get a warning message stating that I will lose songs on my phone which aren't on the laptop. How transfer my music from my phone to the laptop?

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. when you double tap the home button to go back to your other apps are those apps always running and using cellular data even if I am not currently using them? I thought it froze them and didn't use data other that a select few apps like Facebook, email, etc. Also I always select no when I download an app and it wants me to have those push notifications. Because that would mean that I would have to delete my apps after everytime I just them from that bar and that would be very annoying and just stupid. Or maybe apps do use data and it's just a big scheme to make everyone go over on their data plans.

I connected my iPod Touch to a stereo system phono input using a cable with stereo jacks (red and white) on one end and that plugs into the iPod's headphone jack. The problem is that the sound is extremely muffled and bass-heavy, with little treble. I have to turn the bass control on the stereo receiver to pratically zero in order for the sound coming through the stereo to be acceptable. Is there a setting on either the iPod or the stereo that I need to change in order to fix this?
The phono input is for a phonograph. The iPod does headphne output is not that same as a phongraph output. Does th stero have an AUX input? That should be compatible.

I updated my pages app on my ipad and when I tried to open a document it says the file format is invalid. None of my documents are opening pleaser help!!!!
Try this. It worked for me.
I discovered the same problem. I had an older version of Pages on my iPad. After updating it to the latest version all my previous documents created in pages for the iPad were rendered unreadable and a message stated that they were an invalid format. Why for the life of me would a program that was created by Apple and sense updated not be able to read previous versions...well that's a whole other sad story. Any way I discovered how to fix it but it would require that you had backup your iPad on a computer and not emptied your trash. If this sounds good than here is how you fix it... And it worked for me.
These steps will enable you to reinstall a previous version of the Pages app so you can be able to read and edit older documents.
FIRST: if you did backup your iPad using your computer and did not empty your trash, GOTO the trash and look for PAGES 1.4 (or other number) ipa ( that's the file extension) ie PAGES 1.4 ipa.
SECOND: move that file out of the trash and onto your desktop. Once you do this, double click on it and a box will come up stating a newer version has been found and do you want to revert back to older version. ANSWER YES. It will than automatically place and overwrite the older version back into the file on iTunes that contains the rest of your backed up apps.
THIRD: and this is where it is important that your backup would have to have been on your computer. I'm not sure if backup on the cloud will work. iCloud backup at your own risk And here's why. Before you restore you will need to remove the latest version of Pages off your iPad by doing the usual : holding down the home button until the apps wiggle and remove by pressing on X on app. Removing off your iPad will also delete all your documents but if you have a previous backup on your computer those documents will be stored safely on itunes and will return.
FORTH: plug your iPad into your computer and allow it to sync so iTunes will recognize it. Once iTunes is up and you can see that it recognizes your iPad, GOTO "FILE/DEVICES/RESTORE FROM BACKUP." ******* DO NOT CLICK ON BACKUP***** click on RESTORE FROM BACKUP. This will reinstall all previous settings and documents that were their when you backuped PLUS the older version of Pages that you placed back from the above steps. Let it run through all the setups ( this could take up to 20 minutes...depending on amount of data and photos and apps).
FIFTH: Once everything is reinstalled a message will popup on your computer stating "to leave iPad plugged in until iTunes recognizes it again" ( it's basically rebooting itself). Once done (leave iPad plugged in still) GOTO iPad and follow the steps. IMPORTANT: iPad will ask you if you want to SET IT UP AS A NEW IPAD, BACK UP FROM THE CLOUD or BACK UP FROM ITUNES.....press SET UP AS NEW IPAD. Follow all of the steps required. Once complete GOTO iTunes on computer, look for "IPAD" plus a little arrow ( should be on upper right corner of iTunes window, click on it ( this will safely disconnect your iPad from iTunes) . Now unplug iPad from computer and go to your iPad and look for the older version of Pages. It should be there along with all your old documents ( readable and editable too).

I read this to say that the phone is not jailbroken and the OP does not want to jailbreak it.
The only way to unlock it is to contact the carrier it is locked to, and ask them to unlock it.
You are also in the unfortunate position that the iPhone is not supported in Iran due to the international embargo. -

No computer can do a thing without using memory. 1.5 GB is very little. It's normal.
3 or so hours from a full charge may also be normal, for what you are doing. As batteries age, they don't last as long on a full charge as they did when they were new. All batteries eventually wear out, and are easily replaceable. -
Facing the problem ValueChangeListener of the Drop Down List

I am using the JDeveloper 10.1.3.5.0 and the JHeadStart 10.1.3.3.88. In my requirement, I am having three View Objects(V1,V2,V3). I need to create a page based on one VO(V1) displayed as table. In the screen, there are 6 columns. Three of them(C1,C2,C3) are having the static values( coming from the VO(V1) from which it has been built), and the others are, one column(C4) is displayed as the drop down list(for some of the rows, drop down list values are coming from the VO(V2), and for the others drop down list values are coming from the other VO(V3). The other column(C5) is a input text field, that is enabled or disabled based on the selected values from the drop down list column(C4). The column(C6) is a check box. Now, coming to the actual requirement, the rows are related to the papers. For each paper, there are 5 methods of studies. One of the method of study is SelfLearning (5th method of study), for this the drop down values are coming from the VO(V3), and for the other methods of studies(1 to 4), the drop down values are coming from the VO(V2). Now, for a user, based on the number of papers, the number of rows are displayed.(1 paper- 5 rows, 2 papers-10 rows like wise). Initially, drop down list is displaying the null values. When I change the value in the drop down list, I need the ValueChangeListener has to be called and it has to call the method in the bean. From the bean, the column(C5) has to be enabled or disabled. This is working fine for the inital 5 rows and 7,8,9,10 rows and 12,13,14,15 rows. But, the ValueChangeListener is not working for the rows 6 and 11. I used the debug concept,and I confirmed that the valueChangeListener is not getting called for the rows 6,11,16 rows.

Problem: I lost the option to get the sound from external speakers or headphones to upgrade to Lion 10.7.3. It accepts only internal speakers. I downloaded Combo directly , without using "Actualización de software". I followed all the advice from the Apple community. Can I use bluetooth speakers to solve this problem? You may need to reset PRAM/NVRAM.
First, check that the jack is clean. Put some alcohol on a plug and insert it a few times. See if that helps.
is your output both digital and analog? If digital, is the red laser light visible in the socket? Do not look directly into the socket when checking.
If all else fails try a PRAM reset:
Reset your computer’s PRAM
A small amount of your computer’s memory, called “parameter random-access memory” or PRAM, stores certain settings in a location that Mac OS X can access quickly. The particular settings that are stored depend on your type of Mac and the types of devices connected to it. DO NOT HOLD These keys beyond the second startup sound!
Release the keys.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings. -
Hi all. I want to make audio chat with my brother. I use iChat on my MBP. He uses Gtalk on his windows PC. The problem is that the audio icon is gray so I cannot start audio chat. Is there anyway? Can iChat make voice chat with Gtalk on windows or not? I am confused.

You need to satisfy several things along the way
Account type
You need to have a Jabber or Google mail Account your self.
If you have a Google Mail Account then it needs the "Talk" option Enabled in your Google account Settings ( A Facebook with "Chat" enabled is also a valid Jabber ID to use in iChat).
Connection Method
This is about which apps can connect to which apps for Video ro Audio to work.
iChat Video when using a Jabber account is iChat to iChat Only.
iChat connects using a process called SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)
Jabber based Apps if they have an A/V module connect using protocol called Jingle.
Needless to say Google do their own version of this that is written in to the web Browser Plugin that allows Video Chats (there are PC and Mac versions), and in the PC app called GoogleTalk.
However it is also not that compatible with other Jabber apps.

This claims, now, that Google had a hand in writing the Protocol.
Also in the "Clients Supporting Jingle" list many more version of Google products are mentioned with extended info. (it suggests that someone at Google has been editing the page).
Can iChat make voice chat with Gtalk on windows or not?
The specific answer to this to be clear is NO.
We are talking about different Apps (or web Browser Plugins) using different Internet Protocols that are not compatible.
The simplest thing is to get the Web Browser Plugin (However there can be issues with the Flash Plugin)
At one time Google used Flash to do Video Chats and it would seem their Plugin is very close to this part of Flash.
See the Known Issues and the "Google Talk Plugin Disables iSight On Mac" item.
Options
Use a Web Browser yourself with the Plugin.
Use a Flash Base Site such as MeBeam (Flash has to be enabled in your Browser and the instructions are simple on the page)
Try to find a Jingle capable Mac Jabber Client (app) ( I have not found one).
