i found the solution for the network connection error during the software update process.....
the error dialog box says to check ur connection or firewall settings...so i recommend the users who are having this problem...first of all if you have any antivirus software installed than turn it off or disable it before starting the update and then Go to- Control panel-Windows Firewall-Then turn it off. and now start the update application you will notice the change and i am sure the update will start and complete without any errors...i was also having the same problem but i tried and resolved it... and also a very important thing that you should take care of....you should make sure that no other application is using your internet connection, don't start any other downloading program because it will decrease the ovi suites downloading speed and it may cause an error...
if the problem persists after turning off ur firewall than restart ur pc and try again...
post me a thanks if your problem is resolved...
this will work with the nokia OVI Suite version 2.1.
because i had not tried to update the ovi suite because i like the 2.1 version very much...
I really tried it very much, because my father says that Try and try and try until you get success...
and i achieved the success..........

Hi, farby thanx for the reply, First of all my phone is already unlocked and one my friend is also facing this same problem. as i have mentioned that there is update available on the nokia website. its just he Updater software which is not updating although it is connected to internet. maybe you should look to the picture i have attached to this thread. In the pic it is saying that 20.0.16 is the firmware is present on my mobile But you can check it out that the latest firmware available for N95 8GB ,,,, 31.0.015. and just look at the difference in the firmware versions. Its not like that N95 8gb is a latest phone and would have to wait for the new firmware. There should had been many firmware updates available between 20.0.16 to 31.0.015 versions. i hope so that you will understand which i am trying to explain. thanx bye

  • 6220 Classic: Ovi Suite Software Update problems

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to update the firmware of a 6220 Classic via Ovi Suite (2.1.1.1). I connected the phone, and started the software update process. I was informed the current firmaware version is 03.23, and that version 5.15 is available. I proceeded downloading the (148mb) firmware update.
After that the update process started, and I was informed to ignore all USB connection notifications. Notifications like "Nokia Flash Parent detected" were displayed with one informing me that the driver for one of these "devices" failed to install.
I then got the "Device recovery" error, stating that Ovi Suite lost connection with my device, and presented me with 4 steps to follow to "help reconnect your device". None of this helped, and I kept on getting the same error. Now I am lost. The 5.15 update is also not available OTA. Luckily the phone was not bricked in the process, and is still working fine at version level 3.23
Any ideas on how to get Ovi Suite to install the update? My system specs: Windows XP Pro SP3 with latest fixes/updates.
    Thank you.

I always use Ovi Suite to update 3 phone (5310, 5610, 5800), no problems so far. However once caveat on s60 phone like yours is that when problems like this occur, you could try to update without a memory card inserted. If that fails, hard reset the phone and update the blank phone (back up first before resetting of course). If that still fails, take it to a Nokia Care Center.

I had a problem with OVI SUITE. When I open it, click tools->software updates. It would pop up something's gone wrong... Error code:14001. Please look at the attached picture.  Then I uninstalled OVI SUITE, and re-installed it again. It still didn't work. Can anybody tell me what should I do?

By the way, I had an another question. I read a post message how to enable OVI SUITE logs. I followed the instruction, but it seemed that logs were not enabled.
    Log_gathering_help.txt is written:
Note: Please make sure the user who is currently logged in is in the Administrator group, or that they have the access right to "C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite\" folder. If not, there is a possibility certain logs cannot be collected,  like the WindowsEvents log. (By the way, My OS is windows 7 64bit Ultimate SP1)
    1. To enable the logs, do the following:
        a. Double-click the enable_logs.js file.
        b. Click the button to finish enabling the logs when prompted by the dialogue.(when I double-clicked the enable_logs.js, nothing happened...)
Note: After you have enabled the logs, it is better to restart NOS prior to collecting the logs.
    2. To collect and zip the logs, do the following:
        a. Double-click the collect_logs.js
        b. Click the button to finish collecting. Zip the logs when prompted by the dialogue.
After clicking the button, the folder where the zip logs have been saved opens.
    3. To disable the logs, do the following:
        a. Double-click the disable_logs.js file.
        b. Click the button to finish disabling the logs when prompted by the dialogue.

My connection works just fine and I disabled the firewall and antivirus, so I don't know what's happening.
I have a N86 8MP and even though I know I cannot get a nex firmware I just want to reinstall the firmware but it's impossible to do it.
One last question, is it posssible to make a downgrade of the phone's firmware?
    Thank you!

It seems a server problem..keep trying..
Meanwhile you can uninstall and reinstall NOS again if there is some thing wrong with Ovisuite

    Restart Computer.
Then download from microsoft website and install Windows Installer, so that the installer is upto date.
    4. Restart the PC

    - Microsoft (Version: 6.1.7600, Build: 16385)
Now i want update the Firmware on my Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, the Ovi Suit takes long to find the Firmware update on the Update Screen.  Then i click the "Install" Button. Then it tooks some time to determine some infos from Phone.  Then i see the next screen with the Infos that current V 31.0.101 is on the phone and V 40.0.005 is the new firmware that i want to install.  After click "next" i agree with the Terms and click again "next". Now i make a Backup of my current Phone Settings and Data and after that i Click "install".  Now i have display something like "prepare download" (on german version: "Herunterladen wird vorbereitet...") but nothing happens, no network traffic or similar no change also after 1h waiting.  I tried with disabled Firewall and AV but no effect.
Has someone a idea what i coul'd do?

    Any solution for this?
    Thanks!

  • Nokia Ovi Suite software upgrade fails

I have a Nokia 5230 but my problem is yesterday when I tried to connect my laptop to the internet through my phone using Nokia's Ovi Suite. A message DEMANDED that I first upgrade my Ovi Suite software, which obviously I could not do as I could then not connect to the internet. When I got connected through an ADSL line, the upgrade is continually unsuccesful. Message reads I may not be on the internet - clearly false - and then check my firewall settings. I have turned my firewall OFF and I get the same message. Any advice?

Hunchback: frankly it's a little more than an annoyance, it's an audacity! I started up Ovi suite to quickly download some photos I urgently needed for a presentation to find that Nokia had hacked into my computer and made software I installed and depended on unusable. I'm not sure what the legal situation is but it is certainly very bad business practice to force an update on your customers. The update has been running for 20 minutes on my PC now and is obviously hanging. I will set up my firewall to prevent any further communication between my PC and Nokia's websites as I can not have you alter software on my PC unauthorized. Frankly I'm shocked that you have that kind of access to my machine.

It states "Fatal error during installation" Please HELP!!!

I am experiencing the exact same issue during the installtion process for iTunes 10.5.
I uninstalled all Apple components but when I attempted to uninstall the Apple Software Update I received the same message: "Fatal error during installtion." I was able to repair the Apple Software Update but still could not install iTunes 10.5 afterwards.
I have tried everything that I could find on these discussions pages as well as other suggestions on third party sites. I continue to receive the error message: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. I was able to uninstall and reinstall QuickTime 7.7.1. During the reinstalltion process I received the same message (There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. • Error when downloading itunes 10.5 that says Product: Apple Software Update -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package ven

Each time I attempt to download the new itunes 10.5 I keep getting the following error message:
Product: Apple Software Update -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Any Ideas of how to solve this one?

After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end.  Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
    1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
    2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually, and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.
Great work everyone who contributed!  Thank you very much!

     H,
When I try to install the Software Updater for the first time to update my Nokia 6500c phone, I receive the following error message about 57% during the install process. I checked my permission keys in the registry, and they seem to have all the correct Admin permission.

    Hi,
It  looks like you do not have access to the registry key mentioned i.e.  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current  Version\Run\Optional Components\IMAIL.
This might be due to  the fact that you may not be added to the Administrators group or the  registry key has been denied access explicitly to a group that you may  be part of.
People in my network setup were facing the same issue,  and we fixed the same using Microsoft's "subinacl" tool. You can follow  the below mentioned steps to rectify your issue as well:
    1. Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
    2. Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
    3. Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> Run and type "cmd" and click OK)
    4. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
        i. cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
       ii. subinacl  /subkeyreg  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Opti  onalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f  /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
You  should see some processes happening on your screen. After the process  ends, retry the update operation you were originally trying to perform.  Hopefully, it should succeed now.
