Pad - LOCK icon in Upper Right Corner of Screen - How did it get there??

When I start my Mac (G5-10.4.11) for the first time I have an icon of a pad-lock in the upper right hand corner of my screen and appears in the 'closed or locked' position. I don't know how it got there. I think it has something to do with 'Keychain' but not sure. When I open Entourage (2008) to check my email for the first time following a boot sequence, Entourage asks me for a keychain password and after entering the password, the pad-lock icon in the upper right corner now indicates an 'open' or unlocked condition. I don't have to do this again as long as my computer stays on. I've tried changing the access setting in Keychain to 'ignore' Entourage and Keychain but it still asks me for a keychain password following a re-boot. What did I do to get the pad-lock icon there in the first place? And, how can I turn OFF that 'pad-lock' and not appear on my startup screen? I have another hard drive in my computer that I boot from occasionally and the "pad-lock' icon does not appear on my startup screen and I can check Entourage without entering any keychain password. I really don't need password protection on my home computer, it's very annoying every time I check my Entourage email.

Check "Keep login keychain unlocked" in the "First Aid" tab of Keychain Access (Utilities folder).
In the "General" tab, uncheck "Show Status in Menu Bar".

Have you tried resetting it. You do this by holding down the home( white middle button) and the Menu button at the same time. Keep holding until it comes back on. I had the same problem and it worked after holding for about 10 seconds. Also if you need technical help call a local store and talk to the phone rep. They will often give you tips without charging you the $35 that the Apple Phone Service charges you just to help you. Good Luck! Jim

What you do mean a lock icon?
On the whole screen or just in the status bar where it shows "iPod" and Time/Battery?
If the icon's there everything's ok. The feature was removed in iOS 6, anyways, the icon should be only in the lock screen.

Yes, that's the normal location for the disk icon(s). They start at the top with the startup drive. Other drives mount below it.
If you don't want drive icons to appear then open Finder preferences, click on the General icon in the toolbar. Uncheck the boxes for items you don't want displayed on the Desktop. Then click on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar and similarly check/uncheck items you want displayed in the sidebar.

IPhone 5 upper right corner of screen is popping out

So I have had this iPhone 5 for over a year, all my warrantees have expired. I have taken very good care of this phone. It has always been in a case. I recently noticed that the upper right corner of the screen is raised up a bit higher than the rest of the screen. I began to investigate it a little bit more and saw that when I pressed down on the raised portion of the screen, it does in fact go down to its ideal position. At first I sucked it up and moved on because it wasn't presenting a problem for me, but now it seems to be getting worse. I will being using my phone and when I use the upper right portion of my screen I can hear clicking as the screen seems to be popping in and out. I am worried that this will continue to escalade and eventually become very problematic. Is there a way I can get this fixed or replaced for free? This seems to be a problem with the phone's design rather than something I have done to it. I have heard of several cases of people experiencing similar problems.

Menu Bar Application Icons Frozen Upper Right Side of Screen

After installing Snow, the right side of the menu bar is frozen. If I move the mouse to the right side, I get the spinning wheel of death. I can use my computer but I cannot use any program or option associated with an icon to the right side of the menu bar. Is there a bug? Thanks

Well, I didn't realise I had that problem until you pointed it out! And when trying to send a mailshot I found my address book was blank.
I used the solution someone posted on the thread linked to above...
Deleted USER>Library>Application Support>SyncServices folder (when I say 'deleted' I mean moved to the desktop until I was sure I wasn't breaking anything!).
I then deleted USER>Library>Application Support>AddressBook
Rebooted. Then went to System Preferences and turned on Mobile Me syncing (the pane now opens fine). This was seen as a first sync and I chose to bring all Mobile Me contacts (and everything else) back onto my machine.
Seems to be working all OK now.
Let's hope that's my last Leopard problem.... (speaking of which, I also lost all my custom Mail Stationery - not for incompatibility reasons it seems as I was able to bring them all forward in Time Machine).

Try 1 of 2 things.
Double tap the Home Button on the iPad > you should see the Dock tray with your apps in > hold on iBooks until you see the app jiggleing with a red circle and white line > tap that red circle > re-opoen iBooks.
If that does not work repeat above but do not open iBooks after you close it, now power off your iPad and turn it back on. You can power it off by holding the power button on top of the device for about 5-10 seconds.

Downloads "Pile" Icons in Top-Right Corner of Screen

Almost every time I download something from the web--software updates, photos, etc.--none of it restricted--all my desktop icons fly into the top right-hand corner of the screen and pile on top of each other.
I then have to drag them one-by-one back to the position they were in on the desktop.
It's becoming a major pain and I can't figure out why it's happening.
Has anyone experienced this? If you have and know how to fix it, please let me know. I can't find anything about it in the knowledge base.

My proposed solution to Jane is a *workaround, it does work for me on my Powerbook 10.4.7.
It also works on the mac intel they scramble, same os. 10.4.7
I removed the com.apple. finder.plist from the home~/Library/preferences folderon the powerbook did a restart, if I deselect the Arrange by in " Show view Options' under the "View" menu again the files scramble all around the desktop, having to manually rearrange them.
Do you know which other.plist file it maybe ?
On the iMac os 10.3.9 they behave w/out selecting the arrange, therefore, as far as I see it is a good way to arrange them, as a workaround.

Hello Dimaxum ~ I also have a Downloads folder, which i prefer to have all downloads go to so I can "get info" before I open them, I think it is an good idea. I do however have many other files on my desktop for easy access. Thanks for the support.

iphone - double tap the home button (the round button with the white square) then drag your finger across the button across the bottom of the screen (left to right) when the quick access bar opens. then u will see a icon on the left hand side that looks like that icon next to the battery. tap on that and it will disable the rotation lock fetcher

It sounds like you're experiencing some unexpected behavior in Safari, specifically the window layout blocking the Downloads button. I would check and make sure no third-party add-ons are causing the issue:
